Great place. Great people who really care about your pet. They will go the extra mile to do whatever is necessary to help your pet or animal. I almost lost my cat due to poisoning. They really cared. They understand the meaning of your pet to you, and it really shows as they try to do anything they can to help. And if they can't, they will assist your pet, in a very humane and caring way. I've been going here for roughly 4 years and I've never had a single criticism. One of my dogs is pretty dog reactive and not so fond of nail trimming so they offered a separate space while we waited and somehow got her nails clipped with incident. Took my 17 yr old cat to have 3 teeth removed..after she came home she went down hill fast..Brought her back and was told she had severe kidney failure possibly due to the trauma and shock..Not much hope was given and we considered putting her to sleep..Dr Wiegard did not give up and kept her a few days with treatment...Happy to report that she is home and doing fine..blood work almost normal...Cats really do have 9 lives..Big thanks to the staff and a huge thank you to Dr Wiegard..... We unfortunately had to put down my German Shepherd who was by my side for the past almost 13 years. She was my first dog and what made her so special was that we also grew up together. My father had gotten her when I was 7 and I could not have loved a dog more. She has seen the vets here at this location when her arthritis had started flaring up and when it had gotten really bad. When we decided that it was time for her to say goodbye, it was a really hard pill for me to swallow. But the staff and vets here are so caring and loving when it comes to the owners last time with their pet. When we walked in I admired a sign in the lobby that had let the rest of the patients and their owners know that someone was saying goodbye to their pet and to please keep quiet. They allowed me to stay with my Winnie for as long as I wanted to and told us not to worry about the payment until we are ready. I wish so badly I could remember the vets name that did everything but everything that happened that day is just a big blur. She was so informative and reassured us that she would go quick and peacefully. If I ever have to do this again, I will go to here and I will recommend it to everyone that is having to go through this situation or even just to get their pets nails trimmed. Read Less

I love vinton vet. I take all of my dogs there. My little dog Cassie has bad skin allergies and she is epileptic and they have helped me improve her life. This is a wonderful Veterinarian Hospital! Recently transferred from another fantastic Veterinarian Hospital, DeRolf in Salem. I have to say I was concerned that Vinton Vet. May be too busy, by all appearances, to properly and efficiently tend to our pet needs, but that has proven to be completely unwarranted. The staff is both efficient and friendly somehow managing the walk-ins, appointments and phone ins! And the impressive compassion and quality of care for Bayley and Abby has been top notch. Yesterday I had to make the tough decision and put my dog to sleep due to hip problems. Dr. Neel made the process as least stressful as possible and I have no complaints regarding the process. Also, there is Dr Odell is who has been treating my animals since Dr Buckland retired. He is very patient and caring AND knowledgeable. We evacuated from Charleston SC because of Hurricane Matthew. Our cat was having kidney and liver issues and took a turn for the worse. My Mother-In-Law's vet recommended the Vinton Animal Hospital because they were open on Saturday. Unfortunately, our cat's condition was too severe and she had to be put down. The staff of the hospital could not have been more caring and loving. They immediately took us into a room, compassionately explained the situation, and worked through her end of life options with us. They stayed with us, cried with us, and refused to charge us because of our situation. I cannot thank them enough for how well they took care of us. I have been bringing my Cocker Spaniels to Vinton Vet for many years. I started out with Dr Buckland, whom I just loved and trusted 100%. Now I have Courtney Wiegard and she is also just as awesome. I was very pleased with our recent experience from the phone call to set up the appointment to the check out process. We took our "senior" dog in for her booster shots and general check up and to have nails trimmed.
