Acredale Animal Hospital

Virginia Beach, Virginia
General Info
Acredale Animal Hospital in Virginia Beach offers pet care services that fit effortlessly into your life. It also supports the flexible scheduling of all families and their energetic pets across Virginia. The appointments initiate by examining routine which encompasses exercise, eating habits, outdoors, and recent changes. Medical examinations involve a meticulous assessment of the eyes and ears, an inspection of the mouth cavity combined with palpation of the abdomen, and an evaluation of the skin, gait, and overall mobility. The employee is articulating all steps and standard procedures together with recent changes as well as the precise time for future follow ups. The design allows pet owners to track the developmental stages and prepare for the next steps. Acredale Animal Hospital offers a range of services including vaccinations, diagnostics, nutritional consultations, and treatments for allergies, parasites, weight changes, and dental care. For instance, healthcare professionals use gradual programs to help clients manage arthritis or thyroid abnormalities at home due to the limited time available. The treatment options presented to clients entail short-term, phased care and long-term treatment and monitoring plans. The clinic sends at-home visit summaries, medication refill reminders and symptom logs to ensure continued care. Households with multiple pets and those that employ various caretakers benefit from repeatable appointment scheduling and shared records. Each plan has cost details, visits schedule, and future expectations. Acredale Animal Hospital puts current and potential clients’ families on everyday terms with veterinary care as an employee-centered habit in Virginia Beach households and the rest of the state. The following services are available at Acredale Animal Hospital: Neurology, In-House Pharmacy, Parasite Prevention, Radiology (X-rays), Senior Pet Care, Orthopedic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Nutritional Counseling, Diagnostics and Surgery. He was diagnosed with cancer and being very advanced in age his time was due but with the care and advice of Dr. Frye we were able to enjoy Slim a while longer. Dr. Frye was truly compassionate and caring with Slim and me when I had to put him down. I would really like to thank her and let everyone know what a great Dr. She will be for you. Read Less

I have been wanting to write a review on this place since October but never got around to it.I want to start off by saying if I was rating this place prior to my last visit then I may have given this place 3 or 4 stars because my dog's primary veterinarian was really good with Bella. I have been come here for years. My dog Bella was a very anxious dog. She took awhile to warm up to strangers but once you gained her trust she was the most loving sweetest dog ever.Unfortunately, on October 2, 2018 she was hospitalized for several herniated discs in her back making her essentially paralyzed and unable to move her hind legs. The first night she was there they had her in the back in a cage around other dogs that were loudly crying and barking and her cage was right near a door that workers came in and out of. She hates loud noises and just looked so hot and uncomfortable. If I didn't ask about whether she ate any food no one would have probably updated me. It makes me sad to even write this review; reliving this terrible nightmare.I will say Dr. Evans provided a few options but at her age I didn't want to take any chances. So the goal was to try and manage her pain and swelling and go from there. He was supportive and in touch with how to make Bella more comfortable while she was there. He called every morning with updates. The whole time she was there she wasn't eating or drinking. The IV pain medications were really strong and she just didn't seem herself. It was very difficult seeing her like that. She remained in the hospital for the remainder of the week until I finally decided that she endured enough pain and made the decision to let her go. Anyways, the day I put her down the doctor that was covering that morning, Dr. Selger, called me early in the AM when I was on my way to work. She sounded concerned and said Bella did not do well over night. I agreed to come there as soon as I could. I left work early... Cried on the way to the hospital expecting that it was time to say good bye.Once I got there, I signed in as I usually did and usually they have someone walk me to the back to visit Bella. This time, Dr. Selger whom I've never met until this night came out into the waiting room which was completely packed with others to give me updates.  She told me Bella was doing better and proceeded to say she was able to get the pain under control and then I stopped her and quietly said, "I can't do this to her anymore'. With tears filling my eyes she abruptly said, "ok do you want to go to the back where she's at or do you want a private room with her? if you want a private room it will be awhile for us to get it ready." I guess I was wanting someone a little more sensitive and I'm appalled by the way she handled everything. Even once I finally got a room and was able to sit with Bella they said take as long as you need but had someone coming in every few minutes to check on us..then the last thing was before I put Bella to sleep they asked me to pay my bill! No one should have to experience this when they are grieving a loved one. This was such a terrible experience. Miss my baby girl. Read Less

We discovered one of our dogs had cracked 2 of his molars. I wanted him to see a veterinarian that has a lot of experience with dental work and came across Acredale's website. They had a lot of information regarding dental work, so we decided to make an appointment. We made annual exam appointments for both our dogs since they were due anyway. We ended up seeing Dr. Danielson in the exam room. One of our dogs gets nervous at the vet's office and I was so impressed that Dr. Danielson took the time to sit down with our dogs to make sure they felt comfortable with her. She took her time and did thorough exams on both dogs. When the day came for the dental appointment, I was so happy to hear Dr. Danielson was assigned to our Buddy. It put my mind at ease knowing he was in good hands and with someone who made him feel comfortable. Buddy ended up needing 2 extractions and a few bondings. Dr Danielson called during the dental to explain her findings, and again after the dental was over to let me know how Buddy was doing and when he could be picked up. I appreciate that I was contacted throughout the day for updates. When I came to pick up Buddy, the receptionist was very pleasant and went over all the charges. The price for the dental was extremely fair. After I paid, a technician came out and reviewed Buddy's aftercare. She was also very pleasant and thorough. Unfortunately, we will be moving from the area later this year, but we plan to use Acredale for dogs until we leave. Thank you to Dr. Danielson and the team for taking such great care of our dogs! I went there because of my friend recommended the hospital and they were taking walk ins without breaking your wallet. My dog didn't seam well after I came back from work. I checked in at 7:30 pm, waited for 3 hours in freezing cold facility and didn't get any vet assistance. Luckily my dog is very healthy and she probably just ate something that made her stomach upset. She was so ready to go after the long freezing waiting so was I. At 10:30 I went back upfront and asked how much longer it would take and was told that there are 2 more rooms to be checked before mine. This is ridiculous! Hire more vets or manage time wisely. The staff was very friendly and although we were a walk-in we were seen pretty quickly. All of the issues started once we got in the back to be seen by the doctor. He did a quick physical exam and observation of our dog then offered his professional opinion of what we needed to do. When we questioned him about the costs of everything he recommended he came back with an estimate of $317. I asked if there was something cheaper we could try and that is when he belittled me and my opinion stating "Well I guess if you only want to do the basics and only giver her supportive care then we could give her some fluids and an antibiotic shot." My husband opted to go forward with the whole scope of what the doctor ordered. When he came back with the bloodwork/xray he said nothing was out of the norm and couldn't see anything without going into our dog to do explorative surgery. He then gave her the "basics", some fluids and an antibiotic shot and said if we don't see any improvements to come back. I then asked if she could have the stomach flu or bug, and he said "maybe, we can give her a probiotic." This made me really upset because as the doctor he should be able to throw some ideas out there not just throw meds at the patient as I throw the ideas out. Then we went to check out. Our bill rang up to $571.00, this was $254.00 more than we were quoted. The only thing extra we received was 3 cans of ID dog food and a probiotic med. Needless to say, we will not be coming again, nor will recommend this to anyone. More like STAY AWAY! Read Less

Been a customer for over 10 years and I wanted to put a better review because I loved this place for my pet. But honestly, I have seen the service go downhill starting with the wait times of appointments, and some staff being rude (due to they can't handle that many customers). I think with it's popularity it just became harder for them to maintain the best service that they had before. There are still remnants of the old AAH, like the vets are still amazing or some of the staff try their best. They also offer that 24-hour plan which I think is such a good deal. But then I guess if you're patient, your pet is patient and remains well-behaved or your pet does not have a true medical emergency then this is the vet/animal hospital for you. As for my pet and I, I am looking into other vet/animal hospitals in our area. So sorry to leave, but it's just getting worst everytime we go there. Read Less

This was my first time bringing my dog to Acredale and I will not be going back. Louie and I went in because he seemed to be experiencing some pain and this 24-hour veterinary hospital had the best reviews in my area. The receptionist was nice enough; she had me fill out my paperwork and took me to a room where she told me there would be a little bit of a wait, as two people were checked in ahead of me. I waited patiently for an hour and a half until I finally decided to make sure we were not forgotten, since no one stopped by the room or checked in on us at all. I finally found someone and asked where I was on the list as we had been waiting for some time, and her response without asking my name or getting any further information was “It’s going to be a two hour wait”. I decided it best to not ask for further information as she didn’t seem to care who I was, what condition my dog was in, or where we were on the list, so we left and will be going elsewhere in the morning. Acredale has lost a longtime customer. From bringing my dog there as a kid to my own dog as an adult, we have always used acredale. However, in recent years, the wait time has become inexcusable. Even with an appointment, we would wait beyond our appointment time to get to a waiting room and then spend another hour waiting in the exam room to see a doctor. Last night was the final straw. My dog has had some ear issues and needed to be seen, but there were no appointments available. We were advised to just be a walk in. We arrived at 6:20pm. I knew there would be some wait and emergencies would be taken before us. However, there was only ONE VET on duty. Finally at 8pm we were taken to an exam room. No one came in and at 9:40 I asked the front desk where we were on the list. She told us we were next. At 10pm, I heard the vet go into another room. When I went to the desk again, I saw a man checking out who had also been a walk in, but he had arrived an hour after me! The vet then went to another room. I was done at that point. 4 hours and not a single bit of communication from them unless I initiated it. Unacceptable. They should not offer walk in appointments and emergencies if they are not staffed to handle it. We will be taking our dog to a new vet for all his needs from now on. Read Less

I was referred to this 24 hour hospital due to an emergency and was told everyone there was "compassionate." I found this to be true in my case as well. One of my cats was suffering and I feared for her. I do not have an emergency fund and can barely pay my bills, but I could not let her suffer. All of the employees involved showed genuine compassionate, care and respect toward me and my cat. The diagnosis required major surgery and the prognosis was uncertain. Being heartbroken for my kitty and fearing the cost, I was opting for euthanasia. The vet then offered surgery and recovery care... free of charge!! The prognosis was still uncertain, but this hospital gave my kitty every opportunity for life, health, and care. Although free service is not the norm, I was deeply grateful me and my kitty were spared. I was welcomed to visit my kitty "anytime" during her stay, and I did. I was very impressed with the cattery and the tender care my kitty was receiving. I live approx. 20 miles away from this hospital and there are many closer to home, but for me and my animals this is the only one. My kitty's stay was a little over a week and although all went well, we both were glad to get back home! A FIVE STAR rating from me! Now, about that parking lot... some repairs are needed! Read Less

BEWARE: During my last visit I had forgotten my credit card and because they keep them on file I was able to charge my charges for the day to my care credit card. Somehow, they were able to charge it to an old account that has been closed since 2010. Since all of my bills are online I was unaware that I had a payment do to an old account instead of my current account which was opened in 2015. I received a late notice from Care Credit for my closed account and of course called them right away. They went over the charges, which I agreed were my charges, but I was confused as to why they were put into my closed account. They agreed to transfer those charges onto my newer account as soon as they notified Acredale and figured out how they were able to charge a closed account. Today, my dog is very sick and needs to be seen by her vet at Acredale. I called, made an appointment and was ready to take her in when I received a call from, I believe was the office manager who stated that because I filed a fraud report with care credit I was not able to bring my dog in to see my vet. I explained to her that it was care credits standard operating procedure, because Acredale reopened a closed account and that those are my charges and will be charged and paid accordingly. She basically stated that my pets were not welcomed there any longer. Someone made a mistake at Acredale, no big deal, we could have got it all straightened out as soon as Care Credit did whatever they were required to do in this situation. Instead I am NO LONGER allowed to bring my pets to their hospital. This is no way to treat people, especially when one of your employees made a mistake. To ban someone from bringing their pets into their vet is crazy. I could pay cash, but no I cant bring them in as if I did something wrong. This is not a Veterinary Hospital that cares about your pet. This is a financial institution that only cares about the old mighty dollar. Read Less

I have two elder dogs (12 and 13) who need a LOT of vet attention; they both have chronic conditions that are challenging to treat. I have a lot of confidence in Acredale and the care my pets receive. An important factor is that the Vet staff talk together and leave good notes, so that my dogs get consistent, complete care. Another huge bonus is the 24 hour plan; my dogs can get the care they need where they are well known and the cost is significantly lower than emergency vets in our area. The Vet Techs are superior; great skill level, very kind and consistently go above and beyond my expectations. The staff are helpful and kind. I have never had such a horrible experience at a veterinary office. The only good thing about this place is that they are now open 24/7. I first came in with my German Shepherd/Husky mix Sunday mornings at 1am. Her sister just came back home from another Vet Saturday morning after she recovered from Parvo. We brought our puppy in shortly after she first Initially started displaying symptoms of Parvo.      After getting there at 1 am we were finally seen at around 3 am. The first Vet we saw was nice enough! She did the parvo test on our puppy and it came super positive super fast. My boyfriend and I know the drill already at this point so we hug our furry friend one last time before they take her away to treat her! We go and pay the deposit and then go home!     Our puppy stayed there for 3 nights. During her whole stay we got called two times. I called several times a day to try to get updates but was unsuccessful. When I got ahold of one of the vet techs she was very rude and kept calling my puppy who is a girl a he. She then proceeded to tell me the update and her exact words were "He isn't eating" and I said okay. Is that seriously all you have right now? And she said yeah. I was so frustrated she couldn't tell me anything about how they were planing on making her eat.     One time I tried to call for an update and was put on hold for no exaggeration forty minutes. During that time several employees picked up the receiver and asked if I had been helped and I told them several times I'm just calling for an update on my dog and then they said they will be right back with an update. I'd then wait again and a new voice would come onto the phone and asked if I had been helped, then the process would repeat. After forty minutes of being on hold I was told very rudely to call back another time.     Not only is the staff rude they also sent my dog back home still sick and unable to eat. They told she's fine to go home since her energy levels are up but I thought that was wired because she's wasn't eating. If you guys couldn't get her to eat how could I be able to? But them sending her home was a blessing in disguise.     I could tell something was wrong after a few hours of my girl being back home. I rushed her into my primary vet and the other vet knew immediately after examining her what was wrong! Not only was my puppy severally dehydrated and staved she was still sick. The vet ran some tests and her suspicions were correct! She had Campylobacter and thats why she wasn't eating. It is a secondary problem of parvo and is fatal for puppies in her situation. She ended up staying over night at our other vets. The vets also told me if I hadn't brought her in and just believed what the vets at Acredale that she is fine she would have died.     The thing that really bugs me about this place is that I felt like my dog was just another dog. And everything they did for her was not in her best interest it was just to check the box to say that they did it. My dog was insignificant to them. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The vet we saw talked about different options on how to treat my dog and which one would be the most beneficial. The staff is extremely friendly and make you feel welcome once you walk in. We have had to put 2 of our dogs to rest because of medical conditions with their age and Acredale Vets and staff truly cared. They have 24 hour care and are very affordable even for emergency visits. Thank you Acredale for all the years of great care for our dogs:Mabelline (RIP 13years), Molly (RIP 12 years), our Blue Nose Pitt Maggie she's 3, Macy our 5 month old Pitt/Mastiff mix, and the newest member of our family Milly our 10 week old Goldendoodle!! I've noticed many smaller offices tend to rob you and could care less what happens to your beloved furry companion. It happened to my first dog, and I didn't really care for vets anymore. We got our 2nd dog/Shih Tzu from a local breeder who recommended this place. Business is booming, so it probably contributes to why they don't try to charge you unfair prices. My parents have been going here for almost 2 years, so when I got my Shih Tzu puppy, I've been taking her here for her puppy wellness appointments ($77.00 per appt. that includes an exam, intestinal parasite exam, de-worm, nail trim, and appropriate vaccines corresponding to puppy age). You're recommended to go to 4 puppy wellness appointments ~3 weeks apart. I do this out of convenience as I retrieved my puppy at 5 weeks from an unqualified breeder, so I was a bit worried about her health (since you're not really supposed to get your puppy until 8 weeks old). There are other alternatives if it's still not in your price range! The vets I have dealt with were knowledgeable and incredibly friendly and open to any and all questions. Also, I was advised to "call with questions since phone calls are free." There will always be a vet working for any complicated questions over the phone. The flexible hours are amazing because I don't really want to spend my early weekend morning waiting for an appointment if I can jam some errands throughout the week. Walk in appointments are possible; however, the wait is often 2 hours just to get a room. With an appointment, there's still some wait time that can range from 30 minutes-45 minutes just to get a room. Y'know, typical doctor stuff even in the furbaby world. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because of parking, a hefty wait despite an appointment, and the recommendation of canned food for my puppy when it kind of made things messy. I switched her over to Honest Kitchen after double checking that puppies can have it, and the problem was solved. No biggie though! I also find the website user friendly and quite informative. I'm sure you can call for a quote if you're monitoring your bank account or flitting around between vets for something that can accommodate your budget. I will continue to come here because of service, flexible hours, and knowledgeable vets. Read Less

I feel confident in having my pets come here.I appreciate the email reminders to help me keep track of when my pets' have upcoming vaccinations. I believe they offer memberships which help with costs. You can ask them what is included during your visit. For my two kittens the checkup cost was about $120 which included 2 vaccines each. Within minutes, they asked me to rush Jax into the hospital as it could be a big emergency. Once in, they took Jax in right away, checked his vitals as well as any other symptoms and quickly informed me that my original concerns were not the symptoms he was showing. Very timely, efficient, and professional. Best of all, i wasn't charged a dime for them just looking over my dog after helping me so quickly. Will be switching vets to this place! Read Less

My dog was being treated by them for a very rare disorder and I was unbelievably sad to not have her home with me until vet tech Kelly asked if I wanted her to send me pictures of her throughout the day. Who does that. It put my mind at ease knowing she was getting loved on my Kelly and she was in such good hands. She truly is the best. Dr. Alex, Dr. Minogue and Dr. Meador are all fantastic. I've taken my pup here for 2 visits -- one for a routine physical and another for a booster shot. The routine physical went well, the staff was very friendly with my nervous pup and offered her lots of treats and love. It was a bit of a wait, probably 30 minutes or so in the waiting room and then about 10/15 for the vet to arrive. Cost-wise, it was less than I had expected which is always a plus. The waiting room is spacious and has a lot of seating. There were SO many people coming in and out so it can be a bit chaotic especially with a bunch of dogs who are probably anxious about being at the vet. The second visit for a booster was a little shorter. Apparently the booster is just done by a technician so there is no need to make an appointment. I stopped in on a Friday and was there for maybe 25 minutes and we were done. Again, less expensive than I thought so another plus. Along with vet care, they also have grooming and boarding available. I haven't used those services though so I can't comment. I think the biggest draw to this place is the long hours they have and the amount of doctors. They had no problem getting me an appointment for the next day when I called, and they also told me that soon they will start 24 hour service! Hopefully I won't ever need to utilize those services, but it's nice to know that it's available and not too far of a drive from me. Read Less

I have been taking my cat to Acredale Animal Hospital for any needs a little over a year now, and I have had nothing but positive experiences here, since she was first brought as a very young kitten. The staff is always friendly when I have come in and prescriptions are filled in a timely manner. I was especially thankful for the techs I encountered today when my cat was receiving her rabies vaccine. I did not initially notice her vet's name but according to the record it was Dr. Seymour. I will be sure to ask for her in the future! My cat was very very anxious for her appointment and I was worried they would be annoyed by her behavior, but the vet was very friendly, offered her treats and a blanket to help calm her, and took her vitals in a way that was probably not ideal, but comfortable for my cat. She told me adverse reactions to look out for and We were sent on our way (in and out in about thirty minutes). I get home and my cat has a reaction they told me to look out for. I called immediately and they told me to bring her back in. Upon arriving, she was seen right away. They treated her quickly and the vet came out and talked with me afterwards to make sure all of my questions were answered, even ending with, "please call me if you have any other concerns." Again, I will definitely be asking for her in the future since she was so attentive. And my kitty is doing just fine now. :) Read Less

Last week I brought my dog, Toby, up to Acredale in an emergency due to his stomach starting to gain mass. Upon further examination, they relayed me to an emergency surgical specialist due to fears of a tumor on his liver. Unfortunately, our sweet Toby's cancer had progressed too severely to operate on, and I was made aware that he was in pain and I was forced to put him to sleep. While it has been an extremely tough and painful weekend for my family and I, in the middle of all of our grieving, we received a handwritten note of condolence from the vet I met that day and a few members of staff. After 13 years of bringing my fur baby to Acredale we were informed this morning that they would no longer be offering care to my dog. We were "fired" from the clinic. My husband had taken our dog in earlier this week due to an incontinence issue. Dr. Elliott proceeded to tell him to think about euthanizing her - before any lab work was done! Obviously we found this very alarming and quite upsetting, so my husband asked that the owner give him a call. Dr. Alex reached out yesterday afternoon with the results of the blood work. Looks like there is a good chance she has cushing disease, which requires further testing. My husband was told to set up a follow up appointment for just that. This morning we call to make the appointment and are informed that Office Manager Alysia has left a note for the staff that we are no longer welcome there. No explanation, nothing, just sorry we can't help you. I cannot express my deep frustration and disappointment in the way this facility is run. My dog needs help and they just dropped her. I would highly suggest future and current clients to reconsider where you are putting your trust for the health care of your animals. Read Less

Very unsatisfied!! Brought my kitty in there a little over a month ago cause she was not acting like herself refusing to eat hard foods, hiding in weird places etc and they diagnosed her with an ear infection. 2 weeks after her visit she took a turn for the worse I continued to monitor her and decided to bring her back in to be seen again. We had the vet Aline Sevigny if thats what you would call her look her over. I asked her do you think shes just dying? She says no she doesnt seem to me like a cat that is dying at all giving me false hope she would be okay. My cat couldnt walk without falling over by this point, wouldnt eat or drink at all barely, labored breathing. The vet has the nerve to tell me she has fleas and ear mites which is probably whats causing her to feel bad. She finds 2 of the lumps on my poor little baby and cannot tell me if they seem like tumors or cysts or what without running a bunch of expensive tests on her and says they may have nothing to do with how shes acting. Seems like all she wanted was our money. I had to tell her she had 3 lumps not 2 cause she didnt even feel the 3rd one right next to the one she was poking at that she couldnt give us any information about. We decided on a biopsy and found out it was cancer sadly. She passed 8 days later on Valentines Day right next to me at home. But this same Vet lady who didnt seem to know anything really told my mom when delivering the cancer news that they wouldnt give her any pain meds or cant do anything for an animal who already has two feet in the grave. Very insensitive and unprofessional and rude!! Wish I would have known what to expect and had more then a few days to accept this before I watched her die so miserably but I know shes not suffering anymore and I got to take really good care of her for the last little bit of her life.Read Less

They can say that these policies are in the best interest of the pet's health and safety, but, to me, they just create a firm impression that these policies were implemented to pad profit margins at the customer's expense. My Italian Greyhound and I feel welcomed and comfortable at Acredale Animal Hospital :-) I have visited many vets over the years and this one by far is the Best Vet I have ever had the privilege of discovering over the past five decades! Thankful for those who took the time to write reviews regarding this exceptionally wonderful animal hospital! Last month, I had made my first visit with our new 12 week Italian Greyhound puppy who had become very ill. During my first visit, I was a walk-in (even though I did not have a scheduled appointment, the wait was not that long... those who have scheduled appointments are seen before walkins, which is fine, as many other Veterinary Clinics will not accept those without a scheduled appointment)... While waiting with my puppy in their large comfortable, clean waiting area, an emergency situation came up where a pup had been driven to their parking lot who had just been run over by a vehicle. The staff moved into emergency mode, acting quickly, taking a stretcher out to the patient.... I observed beautiful compassion from all involved, deeply touching the heart. When it was Madison's time to be seen, Dr. Susan Gibbs handled my own delicate situation in a tender-hearted way, helping to discover what was going on with my precious puppy and found a regimen to help her get well :-) Dr. Gibbs kindly spent plenty of time with Madison and me, helping us both feel very comfortable :-) I would consider prices to be very fair, not inexpensive and not overly expensive... I also liked the fact of receiving a follow-up call from Dr. Gibbs to see how Madison was doing :-) Extremely pleased with our overall experience! Looking forward to many years of compassionate, excellent service from Acredale Animal Hospital as they offer everything one could need: besides scheduled appointments, they allow walk-ins, emergencies, provide grooming services, and even offer wonderfully late hours, even up to midnight! Thank you to all at Acredale Animal Hospital for your genuine, loving hearts :-) Read Less

I have always had great experiences with all three of my dogs at Acredale Animal Hospital! All of the vets and staff are very professional and friendly. At times I need to bring my dog in after hours and the evening staff is always so accommodating and compassionate. Dr. Sevigny aka "Dr. S" is usually on night shift and I just love her. Sometimes I have to wait because there are other sick or hurt animals ahead of mine but I don't mind waiting my turn. I highly recommend Acredale! Read Less

Everyone here is very friendly and helpful. Their love of animals is obvious and they are happy to help you. The doctors here go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure your pet is properly cared for. It is not uncommon to get a phone call from one of the veterinarians to discuss lab results, suggest dietary changes or other matters. I appreciate that they are willing to do discuss things over the phone rather than always having you bring your pet in for a charged office visit. They are also very organized and detailed. It's nice that when someone calls and leaves a message I don't understand I can always call and the person that answers the phone is able to explain the message to me even though it was someone else that left the message. Parking can be a real challenge at times, there have been times when the parking lot was completely full which meant finding alternative parking or waiting until a spot was vacated. Despite the parking I can recommend Acredale to care for your pet. Read Less

I have only been to this vet twice since I have gotten my cat. Both times I have been extremely pleased with my service. This first time, I took my cat for a check up after I got her. I didn't have to wait too long...always a plus! The vet look over her and told me what he was checking as he did it. She was very nervous and scratched a vet tech, but everyone was very calm about it. He gave her preventative care for her ear mites and answered all my questions. Now, what really won me over for this place is when I had to take my cat as a walk in late one night. She had bloody mucus coming out of her nose. I called and they told me to come in. I had to wait a couple hours which is understandable since they are low staffed in the later evening. However, they did look at her immediately to asses whether her condition was life threatening and the vet techs also periodically checked on us to make sure everything was okay. When the vet came in, she was very thorough and explained exactly what she was looking for in with the symptoms my cat was having. Everything was fine, but I truly appreciate that she went the extra mile to explain everything and gave me a ton of resources for my cat's care beyond her current medical problem (even though they were basically past closing). You can tell everyone here loves the animals and are there 100% to care for your pet even if in the end the reason isn't life threatening. They are great!Oh, also they gave me a complimentary nail clip since we waited so long. That's great customer service! Oh, and the prices aren't bad. They seem to charge a reasonable amount for their services. I haven't had anything intensive done...but I definitely feel comfortable coming here to have my cat looked at if something is wrong without the fear of being charged a ridiculous amount. Read Less

My experience here could have been the death of my dog and as a result, I will not be coming back. I took my highly active competition dog into Acredale with the symptoms of lethargy, a mild fever, joint swelling, all over stiffness, swollen lymph nodes, loss of appetite, hind end weakness, instability while walking and the explanation that he has been exposed to ticks since we track competitively and he is in the woods or fields numerous times per week practicing for trials. All signs pointed to a tick borne disease. A 4dx test tested negative, but I told the doctor that I knew this didn't mean much. There are many reasons why the test can provide a false negative and I asked for doxycycline to treat my dog based on clinical symptoms. For anyone who isn't aware, all research suggests treating aggressively with antibiotics if clinical signs point to a tick borne disease. Failure to do so can result in organ failure and death. The vet said NO, even after I pleaded with her several times. She suggested a full blood panel to be our next approach. Assuming she might prescribe doxy if the results pointed towards tick borne or infection, I agreed and went home to wait. Two days later, I received a call and was told that the blood panel was normal. At this time, the vet suggested several other diagnostic tests, numbering in the hundreds of dollars, and a few off the wall suggestions of possible causes (hip dysplasia among them, for a dog who was presented with fever, swollen lymph nodes, and all over joint pain ... plus OFA Good not even 2 years prior). As it turns out, I asked to see the results of the blood panel for myself, a few days later. As you can imagine, I was shocked to see that the panel was NOT normal and had several high and low results. Albumin, lipase, ALT, a to g ratio, and lymphocytes were all low. Globulin was high. If you do a little research, you will see these suggest possible kidney issues and possible tick borne disease as being the culprit. After speaking with two other vets, they both agreed that the dog should have been started on antibiotics immediately, due to clinical symptoms. Luckily, with the help and advise of another vet, I started my dog on doxycycline and within 3 days he is already getting back to normal. If I had listened to the vet at Acredale, my dog would very likely have started to have kidney failure or kidney damage (at the least). He could easily have died, all the while Acredale would have happily charged me hundreds, if not thousands, to test for everything else under the sun. I would never recommend Acredale to anyone that has a serious problem. Go elsewhere, or risk a misdiagnosis. Read Less

My first visit here with my dog, Sofie. I made an appointment the day before and was surprised they had an opening that soon for me. I came in early to fill out the paperwork and stayed in the waiting area for a bit. The waiting area was a good size to fit all of us who were waiting with our pets. There is even a children's area for kids to play in while they wait. It was time for our appointment and Dr. Evans came to see my Sofie. He was very nice, especially since this was my first time for a vet visit as well. He told me what I needed to do and not to do. I really appreciated that since it was obvious that he cared for my dog and gave me advice about dental work that turned out not to be as bad as I thought.Afterwards, we checked out in a separate area from the front. This works out great since we didn't have to bump into waiting area again since so many people and pets go in and out. I also love the late hours. The place stays open until midnight during the weekdays so it's a great option rather than worrying about bringing my pet to the emergency vet.Great experience so far! Read Less

I was recommended to Acredale by someone who said they were caring and affordable. I have found them to be neither, but to their credit they are rude and unprofessional. I have had wonderful vets in the past who have taken their time to get to know our animals and treated them and us with respect. This last weekend we took two of our dogs for vaccinations. Even though there were only two other people in the waiting room, we waiting 61 minutes before we were seen by a vet. And even then, she spent less that 3 minutes on both of their ""annual exams."" When I expressed my frustration to her she said, ""Okay."" I wish this was only one experience out of many. Unfortunately, every experience has been the same. I have a lot of maltese dogs, I am a breeder and I have excellent experience with Acredale Animal Hospital. I have been using them for approximately 8 years. They are excellent, professional, thorough, caring, etc. Yes, you do have to pay your bill upfront and I feel horrible for the lady who left a bad review, but it is a ""service"". They do offer payment options, financing and such (The ASPCA would have probably helped her out but she must not have known that). The office staff are excellent and caring, always taking plenty of time to talk to me about all my concerns. Dr. A. Delorenzo is the primary Vet that I do see. She is an excellent vet and cares about not only what is good for the pet but what the owners expectations are, what they want, what they plan for thier pet and gives helpful advice on any situation. I think it is sad that there was a bad review because it is not deserved on Dr. Delorenzo's part. She has cared for all of our pets with absolutely no complaint from us. She is so sweet, kind and loving to our animals and she is an excellent Veterinarian in my eyes. I would highly recommend Acredale Animal Hospital on every area of practice. NOT ONE Doctor would talk to me while I was there or answer any of my calls. They all hide behind their office staff. I would like to take a moment to clear my name of what JennaS has stated about me. My name is Fallon Lewis and I have worked in pharmacy for Acredale for almost 5 years now. I like my job and the people I work with and was very hurt by what Jenna had to say about us. Every single person I work with cares about the animals and even though we get annoyed with each other sometimes (like any work environment does) we are all there because of our love for the animals and do everything we can to take the best care of them as possible. Jenna worked in kennels for the majority of her time at Acredale and did no assisting that I know of. I trained her in pharmacy for maybe 2 weeks if that before she stopped coming in to work and eventually quit. The kitten was brought into us in a condition where we thought it probably would've died in another hour or less if she had not brought it in. She was wet from lying in her urine and the towels around her were wet as well. She also could barely open her eyes, if at all. We honestly didn't think the kitten was going to make it at all. Jenna had told me that her parents wouldn't let the kitten stay at her house since she had been back from college so the kitten had been staying at her boyfriend?s house for the weekend. When she went to pick the kitten up at 2 pm that day it hadn't eaten since 8 pm the night before... this is a 6 to 7 week old kitten we're talking about. She was seriously malnourished and weighed less than a pound when we weighed her. Long story short, she had no place for the kitten to stay and going back with her boyfriend was out of the question. I spoke with Jenna myself and explained the situation and told her that Christy (one of our Technicians) has done fostering before and was willing to do everything she could to take care of the kitten and if it were to live she'd find it a good home. Jenna then stated to me that she just wanted what was best for the kitten and that she remembered Christy fostering animals before and taking good care of them. She then said goodbye to the kitten and left. She didn't pay Acredale anything for what we had done and she hasn?t offered to pay Christy or the Hospital anything. So I don't know how she could think all we want is money anyways. Obviously we were looking out for the kitten?s best interest even though the kitten had a pretty bad prognosis. Christy and I gave Jenna updates about the kittens improvement (we are all so happy that the kitten actually made it) and once it was doing much better Christy found the kitten a very good home. We did everything we said we were going to do. Once Jenna found out that the kitten was doing better and we found it a good home is when she started to claim that we ""stole"" the kitten. She had known from the second she left the hospital that if the kitten made it, which we made no guarantees, it would be given to a good home. Christy even has a text message from Jenna saying thank you for finding the kitten a good home. And then to say the least we find out that she comes on here the next day and writes nasty things about us and the hospital. I seriously have never known anyone to be less appreciative and selfish about saving their animals life. It seems as though the kitten is nothing but a possession to her and the fact that the kitten is alive and doing well means nothing. Christy saved the kittens life and this is the thanks she gets. I just wanted to clear up the accusations made against us. I hope that anyone that reads her post disregards it and doesn't hold it against the staff of Acredale Animal Hospital because what Jenna had to say is totally false. Read Less

Virginia Beach Virginia 23464

Read Less

Read Less

Dr. Kenny took his time examining my dog, asking me questions, sharing his opinion, and suggested treatment plans starting with the least medicinal and least invasive. Read Less
