Don't get me wrong, Dr. Smith is great and very caring, if you can actually get in to see her. My pup is shaking his head, scratching at his ear and walking around with his head tilted but he will have to do that for a week if I want to take him to the Landstown location. I got a lecture from the know it all staff member about how they make appointments like all doctors' offices and this is the soonest they can get my pup in. The reality is, I work in healthcare and most primary care doctors' offices are accommodating same day appointments and walk-ins now. Sounds like this staff member needs to get with the times. I pay $46 per month to be talked to like I'm an idiot. Fortunately, I called a different location and they will see him tomorrow. Read Less

The hardest part of moving is finding a good vet for your furbabies. I asked around to see the good places and my friend's wife works here. I decided to give it a try and called to set up an appointment since they were due for shots and a refill on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Our first appointment didn't go too well in the beginning. We arrived early and were told to wait until a few minutes prior to the appointment to get checked in. We waited and walked around and waited some more. Some dogs were rude to mine since there is no separation from the store and the hospital. Instead of weighing my girls when we got there the assistant wanted to wait which then brought an issue since there were now dogs everywhere and mine wouldn't focus and stay still. Once that was all finished we were put in a room to hang out and wait. Finally the girls were seen and the dr was very nice and made the appointment better. We chose to do a wellness plan and pay monthly since that is easier and cheaper than paying each time. We made an appointment for a dental cleaning and got set up for the preventative medication. Since I was the one to set up the appointment and had the account, I had to pay. That rubbed me the wrong way since my husband is also on the paperwork and the account. We had a better appointment for dental cleaning. I don't know why that is, could be because we were the first ones there in the morning but it was nice. We got the girls checked in and talked about any issues they had. I got phone call updates and told they would be ready after 3:30. We had a great discharge and got all our questions answered and checked out. The assistant at the desk in the morning and afternoon were both super nice and friendly. So I feel like it could be a hit or miss with this place. Read Less

My cat needs shots. I have her scheduled to be boarded the end of the month, and her vaccines need to be updated. I scheduled an appointment online with the Banfield at Landstown. Two days prior to the appointment, I got a phone call asking to reschedule due to an emergency with the doctor. No problem, I work in a service related industry and 100% understand that things happen. I explained to the girl that I needed an evening or weekend, and that I did not want to just drop my cat off, I wanted an in-room appointment. I also told her that my cat was to be boarded at the end of the month, and the vaccines needed updating. Appointment was rescheduled for the following Saturday. Fast forward to today, Wednesday, the day I initially had my appointment scheduled. I get another phone call that they need to reschedule the appointment I have on Saturday because they overbooked the doctor. Are you kidding? I understand emergencies, I understand things come up at the last minute, but to ask me to reschedule twice in one week due to overbooking is beyond ridiculous. First, how do you overbook a doctor to begin with - part of my job is scheduling. Second, if it does happen, you should really try not to reschedule someone who has already been rescheduled. At this point, I am just done with Banfield and have scheduled my cat elsewhere. Poor customer service. If it's this much of a headache just trying to get seen, I'm glad I never actually took the cat in. Read Less

My cat had a UTI, so I was instructed to drop him off at 9:00 AM and pick him up at 4 PM so they can draw the blood and urine, and analyze it.  They determined he had a slight UTI. I pick him up after I paid my $370, which is a ridiculously insane amount of money just to determine he had a common feline issue. Luckily, the amount paid covered 2 weeks of medication, and I was scheduled to return after it was finished to see where he stood with the infection.  Again, I was scheduled to drop him off at 9:00 AM.  So, I get there before 9:00 AM and they make me fill out a 4 page form, the same one I filled out 2 weeks earlier. And I wait for my cat to be taken from me as this was a drop off visit.  I wait. I wait, and I wait.,  Finally, 35 minutes later, they are ready to take my cat from me. 35 minutes I had to wait to drop off a cat.  People who got there after me were somehow seen before me. I missed a scheduled meeting I had at 10:00 for work, and I was given zero apology nor an explanation as to why they made me and my cat wait there for 35 minutes just so I could drop him off.  Anyway, after $500 spent at this location for a UTI, I never saw a Vet.  Not once.  Just a tech.  NEVER will I go back to Banfield, nor will I ever step foot in a Pet Smart again.  I only went here for convenience, and sometimes quality of care and professionalism trump convenience. This business is the antithesis of what a real veterinarians office should be.  I'll stick to Great Neck Vet as they have always been kind, understanding and knowledgeable; and significantly cheaper. After a year and a half, my experience: Front desk is perpetually poorly staffed, and no one seems to understand the "system" very well; always try to add on unnecessary services that would cost hundreds of dollars; deceptively emails me about "necessary" procedures/treatments for my wellness plan, but they end up not actually covered by the plan; and an outright erroneous diagnosis of what turned out to be simply fleas. Twice I have brought my cat in for an appointment (which stresses him out), only to go straight home because I thought the appointment was covered by the wellness plan, but there was a "miscommunication", and it was not necessary and would have cost a couple hundred dollars. I dropped my pet off to be seen by the vet for his red nose as well as a blood sample/urine sample test. When I arrived they sat me down with a rough estimate of $200+ for the services that day. I agreed, until the tech ran into the room in a panicked manner to tell me my pet was not "happy" and needed to be sedated or else he could become "blocked" and sent to the emergency room. The tone and manner of how she delivered this message put me under the impression my pet was in a life-threatening emergency and if we didnt do anything quick he could possibly go into cardiac arrest. I was not prepared for how rushed I was in making the decision to give him anesthesia. The numbers quickly rose to $400+ and then $500+ after the antibiotics they were going to give him. At this point I am completely flustered and asked about payment plans to which I was redirected to apply for a carecredit card. I then applied for the card and wrote down my card information and copied two forms of id for the hospital to have on file for when my boyfriend would pick him up later that day to pay. They assured me twice that he would be able to complete the transaction through my new carecredit later that day (as I would be at work). They assured me my pet would be okay and everything would be taken care of. I left the facility feeling stressed, hopeless, and irritated. Through the day I received 4 missed calls from the hospital and so I called back and was put on hold for what seemed an eternity. Four different times someone would answer and then put me back on hold. I finally told the fifth person that I was at work and needed to get back and to please let me speak to the vet who was trying to reach me, which I was then finally transferred to. That was the most frustrating customer service phone call I have ever made. The vet told me everything was fine and my pet just needed to be prescribed a new diet. She was very vague. I asked her about my pet's red nose, to which she replied it wasn't anything to be concerned about unless it got worse then to bring him back to them. At this point, I was outraged because this was one of the main reasons I brought him to the vet in the first place because it had gotten worse and she gave me useless information. Later that day when my boyfriend picked my pet up, he told them I left my carecredit information with my two forms of ID to pay for my pet's visit. The receptionist denied anything of the sort and refused to check or look for it. He ended up paying for his visit with another form of payment which defeated the purpose of me applying for carecredit in the first place! He then asked about what was wrong with my pet to which none of the staff there was able to answer. The packet they gave us had no information about the pH level or test results of my pet. The knowledge of the staff and the professionalism was less than satisfactory to put it lightly. After receiving my pet, I've noticed his eyes are red and one eye is always squinted. My pet continues to sneeze and his nose is still red/bloody-looking. I don't think we are ever going back here again. Read Less

Banfield in general is not the best place to go to for regular pet care. Despite paying the monthly fee for pet insurance, every time I walk in it cost extra. The original selling point is that you save on the yearly exam and dental yet I pay more for those visits than I do for the yearly coverage. Last annual for my 6 pound dog cost me nearly $200 despite the insurance plan. Might be better off putting money into a separate savings and just going to a vet once a year. Would probably be cheaper.

I will never go back to a Banfield hospital. Read Less

Read Less

But these people in landstown are careless and I DO NOT TRUST THEM!!! My one cat had to go in for a routine teeth cleaning, shots and so on. I picked him up got him home he was missing a patch ofbfur on his ear had white gooky stuff all over his eyes he was sticky and was limping for a few days. Take for granted ivknew he would be walking a little funny because of part of his checkup. Been there done that so I recognize part of what I'm dealing with afterwards. I called them and they fed me a bunch of bullshit. I'm not an expert but do not play me for an idiot I know better after having such a great vet team before you!!!
