Banfield Pet Hospital

Virginia Beach, Virginia
General Info
The Banfield Pet Hospital in Virginia Beach regards veterinary appointments as dynamic and interactive based on what a pet notices, ignores, or seeks. The dynamic system provides support to residential buildings in various parts of Virginia. The initial encounters between people tend to unfold on a nonverbal level. Before the physical examination, the team analyzes tail position and spatial hesitance for better understanding. Lighting and fragrance levels, which are adjustable in each room, do not cause startle reflexes. The pet’s internal clock determines the appointment times. Some do orthopedic exams from the get-go, while others scan the body for obvious tension patterns and go from there. Banfield Pet Hospital offers diagnostic services for multiple species, lab tests and treatment of medical illnesses, orthopedic and dermatologic assistance, and oral health care. Procedures are possibly skipped or out of order when the signs like paw withdrawal, lip licking, and gaze shifting appear. Pain indicators utilize posture and breath rather than vocalization, which is critical for stoic animal breeds and prey-species creatures. Patients are encouraged to step into the world again. Families are given instructions about behaviors to observe, secondary stress signs to watch for, and the importance of letting the dog decompress before anything else. Home care plans target “thresholds” rather than just physical targets. Banfield Pet Hospital provides a veterinary experience to Virginia pet owners that goes beyond simple treatment and taps into the interpersonal dialogue of a relaxed, conversant and harmonious setting as in tune with animal signs of comfort or confusion as it is the placidity of their hearts. Services offered at Banfield Pet Hospital include: Livestock/Farm Animal Care, Genetic Disease Testing, Surgery, Mobile Vet Services, Radiology (X-Rays), Anesthesiology, Oncology, Nutritional Counseling, Wellness Exams and Boarding. This range of offerings means that local pet owners in Virginia Beach and surrounding areas have access to everything from routine checkups to advanced procedures. The clinic is a highly trusted veterinary care service provider in the Virginia Beach area for helping pets stay healthy and comfortable throughout their lives.

Our pup was having serious health problems and when we took him to Bay Beach we were pretty much turned away. Thank god for the amazing people at Banfield who listened to my crying self trying to explain what was wrong with our sweet boy and how he just needed to see someone, anyone ASAP. They fit us into their busy schedule and as soon as we walked in he was taken back. They had him all day to run tests, do X-rays and anything they could think of to help him. All I can say is, I am beyond impressed. They didn't have to help us or make our baby a priority, but they did and I am forever thankful. If you're looking for the best customer service and amazing care for your fur babies, this is the place to go. They truly care and love what they do! Read Less

We have ALWAYS had great experiences with the vets and vet techs, they get our dog in ASAP and have been super helpful to us. The wellness plan helps us save money and makes it so we can leave our dog for the day if we need to drop her off for an appointment while we work. The front desk seems to be VERY understaffed though and can be really rude. They ignored the phone one day and just said under their breath something about "calling during busy time" If you can get past the bad impressions with the front desk staff (and waiting waiting waiting to drop off or pick up your pet) its a great place. I asked how much it was going to be with my wellness plan and was told it wasn going to be about $29 with everything included except. I get a call from the vet tech saying she was in heat and there was an extra $67 "heat fee". I told them I wasn't aware of that fee or I wouldn't have brought her in. So I go to the counter and try to dispute the fee. first off, i am giving 2 stars because of different experiences on different visits. i have been going to this place for about 2 years and just recently have the problems started to develop. like some of the other reviews, just little things at first like waiting for a long time to be seen, or calling in and either not getting an answer, being put on hold for a long time, or having someone pick up then hang up. Todays experience is what is going to cause me to go elsewhere from now on. my dog had an injury on his ear from 2 weeks ago, they fixed the injury, and that was that. well today i brought my pup there for a check up and because the injury hadn't healed yet. they informed me my dog had an ear infection (how they didn't catch that when they fixed the injury i don't know. but anyways they called me told me what was going on and that was that. when my mother in law went to pick him up, she found out that my dog was let out once in between the hours of 0800-1830. so in 10 hours, my dog had only been let out once, they didn't feed him anything, and he sat in a cage. the kicker is they didn't administer any medication for his ear infection. now ok i get the no food thing, they said "they didn't know what brand he ate." but why was my dog there for 10 hours? you couldn't call right when he was done? or if he wasn't seen until so late, why have me drop him off at 8am. my mother-in-law requested they show her how to apply the topical cream they gave my pup as medication because she wanted to make sure it was done right. the staff refused to show her unless she paid a 50$ fee for them applying it. now i have spent close to 600$ in the last month at this vet, and you are telling me you can't take the 3 minutes to apply the cream to show a customer the proper way of doing it, especially since you haven't given my dog any all day and basically left him locked in a cage for 10 hours with no food or bathroom relief? i just found the whole visit to be very unprofessional and felt like they have zero compassion for my dog. maybe this is an isolated incident? but based on the other reviews it seems to be a trend of dissatisfaction so for this reason i will be taking my dog somewhere else where i am getting my moneys worth and my pup is treated with some kind of decency. I suppose this is what happens when employees are afraid of getting fired or otherwise penalized because of low 'sales' performance (I've noticed that the last couple of years increased pressure to get additional services) and also from a potential client complaint (mine) about inappropriate pressure: In Florida, 9 years going to Banfield Pet (petsmart) with 2 chihuahuas, who have been healthy, and 4 of those years with this Dr. Sherer. No issues, all interactions cordial and professional. I refused excessive (and not included in the plan) testing, and afterwards precanceled the plan for both. I discovered, when looking for other information in my dog's medical record for a new vet, that he had put in my record, in addition to other defamatory statements: "She said she was going to throw the dog at me" Seriously?! It also explains why I had a bizarre and uncalled for conflict with the Banfield here in Virginia Beach, which was about a service charged for but not performed, (based upon evidence and my pet's history ...I saw this defamatory record afterwards). If corporate believes this garbage, it means they really don't think highly of the public, doesn't think it's possible for one of the clients to actually have the background to participate in their pets' care, and it explains a lot. It especially explains the regional 'Customer Care' instantly becoming defensive and reprimanding me over some perceived offense about the Dr's integrity. I go for years navigating through life without problems like this, but when this does happen, it's reflective of a crap corporate culture. Read Less

I've been taking my pup Winnie (@winniethewelshie on IG :D) here for her initial vaccines and checkups through the wellness plan. As a first time dog owner I don't always know what's right/wrong and although Google can be a great help, sometimes you just gotta ask a doc. Every time I've brought my pup here, she's met with a lot of love from the staff. The two vets I've seen here have been really kind and answer my ridiculous questions with ease. Oh, and they're great with my pup! Duh. After every visit you get a printout of exactly what was done, the reasoning, and possible side effects. The technicians always tell me how much each procedure costs before its done as well. Most of the staff I've met in my encounters here have been soo friendly (minus 1, but I haven't seen her in a while..) and helpful. When my pup had a massive poop attack that scared me to death, one of the staff kept in contact with me the whole day until my pup started to go back to her normal self. I can see how some people might take issue with some of their policies and whatnot, but I've never had a bad encounter here and never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes past my appointment time. They do have packed schedules most of the time so an emergency visit can be a little difficult but not impossible. Overall I'm pretty pleased with my experience so far! Read Less

The doctors are always helpful with my pets. The staff is very knowledgeable about flea and heartworms. They helped educate me on everything for my cats and with the plans I have saved A LOT of money. Once I understood it's a preventative plan, not insurance, for my pet it's amazing. Signed my husband's kitten up on the kitten plan with a spay and it saved us hundreds of dollars. Then my bengal had to have teeth removed that same year, holy smokes that would have been a lot without the dental being covered (I still had to pay the xrays and tooth removal but not all the other stuff). Saved me over $300. And the staff called me the next day to check on my pet. I will keep bringing my pets here for life!! Read Less

Read Less
