This is the only place I will take my ferrets. Dr Hulls is an exceptional veterinary and he saved my ferrets life when other general clinics turned her away for emergency care. I’ve seen two doctors here and they were both great. I recently referred my sister here and she even saw another doctor and was just as pleased. The first visit we had was for our two cats and Dr. Bean got down on the floor with the girls and opened up the tips of the cages and started coaxing them out. He fed them food, treats, and some special cheese whiz! He took the time to let them feel comfortable, it was really quite something. Recently because of our schedules we have been getting to see Dr. Urbam, who is just as wonderful. She is very attentive and provides us with lots of helpful tips. Our girls have some signs of early kidney disease so it was a little nerve wracking as a “mom” in the beginning finding that out, but the vets (and techs!! And staff in general!!) have all been great. My sister brought her doggy here for some corneal ulcers and the doctor immediately knew what was going on- she had previously been misdiagnosed by another vet, so it was great to have confirmation and a clear plan finally. Doggy’s eyes are all cleared up now! Thanks to everyone for all that you do. (Oh another positive: I started going here because my friend told me of Dr. Bean personally going to her house to help with a euthanasia, and to me, that was out of this world treatment. I adopted a sweet, older boy last year - nine years going on ten very soon. I'm your typical crazy, cat lady except I've only got the one cat. He means the world to me and his health and wellbeing are incredibly important to me. So I don't trust just anybody with his care. I went with Pet Care because someone I've known for a long time that I trust works there and recommended them when I was frantic over a minor injury my clumsy boy had sustained. I was skeptical but I wanted to get him checked out sooner rather than later so I didn't have time to go through the vetting process with vets. They were able to see me the same day when I called.Their establishment is always clean and the staff is always genuinely kind and caring. Since my first visit, I've had to go back several times in the course of a year since older cats tend to have more health issues. They aren't the cheapest pet hospital around, but do slightly higher prices really matter when it comes down to your pet being well cared for with the attention to detail this veterinary staff has to offer? No.Moving forward, I've had very comprehensive care from Dr. Piper who is an incredibly patient and thorough man. My old boy is generally the sweetest, lovebug around but going to the vet brings out the worst in him. I think it may have something to do with his past prior to me adopting him. Despite his horrible manners when I bring him in, Dr. Piper remains soothing and calm despite the horrific behavior of my cat. They also have a very well trained staff who know what they're about. When it came time to sedate my cat for a minor procedure, they brought in who they affectionately call the "cat whisperer." While she couldn't full quell the fit of rage my cat was in, she did manage to handle him and she had the biggest heart. She was so kind to my sweet boy and I could feel her love for animals. I'm truly upset I can't remember her name to give her credit here. I'm sure you can ask them about the cat whisperer and they can tell you who I'm talking about.Anyway, this place is great. Getting appointments set up is incredibly easy. Some times they can even get me in the same day, which is amazing. They're always friendly and reply promptly. I love coming here because I do feel like Dr. Hulls and team takes great care of my animals. I especially love that they are able to see/treat my rabbits. It is difficult to find a vet that knows rabbits. However, I brought one of my dogs in when he was a puppy. I told the vet his breath smelled like urine and something didn't seem right. I was told it's normal puppy stuff. Well I didn't think it was so I took him back a few more times and was told the same thing. Until I finally was able to see Dr. Hulls, He ran a few tests on the pup and found he had a bad UTI that had migrated to his kidneys and he also had a kidney infection. His kidneys are now damaged and he has to be on special food. It was very frustrating. The wait times aren't so great either I'm normally not seen until about 30-40 minutes after my appointment time. Although I did have that one bad experience, Dr. Hulls has really made up for it and I feel like he takes great care and diligence with my animals, He is the only vet I will get appointments with unless I have a pet emergency. Bringing a rabbit to a vet can be a very rough experience, especially if the veterinarians are not familiar with how prone to stress rabbits are. Thankfully, the vets at Pet Care are so knowledgable. I was not able to attend my rabbit’s exam, but my mother who brought my rabbit Piper told me all about how gentle, caring, and sweet they all were with him. They sat on the floor with my rabbit, made sure he was comfortable and from the sounds of it he totally was. I couldn’t ask for anything better. Love love love this vet! This was our first time coming here & I was somewhat reserved due to the fact that it was my first time. The reception is super friendly, gave my puppy so much love while we waiting to be seen by the vet. Although my appt. was scheduled for 11am, they didn't see me & my dog until around 11:40. Come to find out, another animal had an emergency that needed to be taken care of right away. I've brought my rabbit several times (he has poopy issues. Words can't express how happy i was they found a hah he likes to help with his teeth and poop. My Rosie a 10 year old Pug over the course of 2 days became very ill, was able to get an appointment that day. I could tell during the conversation that they were extremely busy, but never was I made to feel like my baby was not important. She was admitted for the day where blood work and urine tests were performed. I get the dreaded phone call that it looked like it was liver failure. They were able to get her in for an appointment asap for an ultrasound.Turns out  pancreatitis, so after daily admissions of IV treatments she is now on the mend. Can't be more disappointed. Saw changes as others have talked about, prices up, push to sale. Appts. were never on time, etc. I had been doing as much care as possible with another vet I had found, basic care, because of it. I had to take one animal back. Snuffles in rabbits can be fatal. It wasn't getting fixed, had to bring animal back a few times. Finally didn't get calls answered, that was bad. They called me one time and said we can do a specific treatment at 11 am next day. I said I don't have much time for lunch, can they be ready? Called again before going there. They were not ready, oxygen tank was out and needed to "find" a new one. Seemed extremely disorganized. I left. Went to another vet late afternoon/dinnertime. They jumped the meds up x5 and gave her another one. Friday am (as in 36 hours or so later) my animal hasn't had a sneeze or cough at all. This place used to be the best. Not one answer on what went on. Especially upset over a geriatric animal that obviously wasn't getting treated like she needed. Read Less

Dr. Pete diagnosed intestinal cancer, performed the surgery to remove it, which she bounced back from with little pain or difficulty, thank God. But the biopsy came back showing her cancer was highly aggressive & would be terminal, inoperable & that she would suffer terribly til it finally would take her.Seeing my obvious pain & grief led many of the nurses to tears too, as they stood by, watching me sadly.Not wanting my precious deeply beloved little Trezzie to suffer such a horrible struggle, I opted to let Dr. Pete to end her eventual fight to live while I cradled her. But I just couldn't bear to end her gentle life in a strange place on a cold metal table.So Dr. Pete brought one of his nurses with him TO OUR HOME, & euthanized her gently in our grassy backyard that she loved while I comforted her & whispered my love & goodbyes to her as her life slipped peacefully away.What vet do you know who would go so far to spare you & your baby such added unnecessary pain?They are sharp, thorough & unusually caring, understanding & wonderfully compassionate people at Pet Care Veterinary . I love this clinic! Everyone is incredibly kind and caring. The Vets here are very well equipped and personally care for every animal that passes through their doors. We have rescued several animals, and use them for specialized care with a few pets. Unfortunately, one passed away shortly after her visit from very severe conditions she had from her previous caretaker. They all were amazingly compassionate people, and truly were hurt from hearing the news. They also care for our Lesser Sulfur Crested Cockatoo that we still have and will for many years to come. They have helped with everything from checking her health after over 14 years of being at a vet clinic to getting her foods shifted over to a much more healthy diet. They have proven to be very capable of helping with absolutely any situation, from wellness checks to very specialized issues that involve much research and several different opinions. Personalized care!! As a puppy my dog was nervous around people - so immediately Dr Bean sat on the floor and let Ranger approach him taking all the time needed to ensure trust. Then, rather than taking him out of the room for vaccinations, the peanut butter jar did the trick. All shots and blood wok were done in the room and Ranger never took his nose out of the jar!! I had a very sudden sick hedgehog. After calling 3 vets in desperation for help, Pet Care let me bring my baby in for answers. Even though it was an answer I didn't want to hear, they were very patient, kind, and sympathetic with the situation. I'm fairly new to the area and to Pet Care. I've really enjoyed having a vet clinic next door to where my babies board. But lately I've been working on getting to know these people who doctor the kids while I'm away. Most recently Pixie got to meet Dr Coplen for a well-puppy check-up. Pixie is a somewhat timid rescue, and Dr Coplen was patient and kind. It was a great experience and we look forward to future visits! The staff is great too! After adopting an 8 week old Dutch Rabbit two weeks ago, my fiancé & I decided to bring him in for a check up to make sure our little guy was healthy. I know that not every vet specializes in small animals, so I was pleased when my google results showed Pet Care wasn't too far from our house. The receptionist was very friendly & informative when I called to set up the appointment. Basil (our bunny) received excellent care during his examination & didn't freak out like I thought he might. Dr. Hull was great with him! He answered all of our questions & gave him a thorough exam. He said we have a healthy bunny on our hands!It's a great peace of mind knowing that I can call with any bunny related questions or bring Basil in if any health problems arise. This is by far one of the worst places to take your pet. We recently took our two dogs to see this place after a friend highly recommended them. First, we scheduled an appointment for Saturday morning so both my husband and I could go together to help control the two dogs (they get excited around other animals). Our appointment was scheduled for 9:00. It was going on 1:30 before we even were taken to an exam room. There were people coming in with later appointments that were being seen before us. I felt that was poor customer service especially since this was our first visit. The doctor that saw our dogs was great. The one can be shy around strangers, but she quickly warmed up to the doctor and his assistants. We did end up paying quite a large fee for "just a check-up". One our first visit the doctor found an issue that we needed to treat the dog for right away, and we needed a follow up appointment for 6 months later. When the time came for the follow-up I reluctantly took them back. This time we had a totally different doctor who was rather rough with our male dog. It took them 3 days to call me back after she said she'd call me the next business day (we came in on a Saturday). It wasn't until Wednesday that she finally called me. I will not be returning to this place! I prefer a more client oriented vet. Read Less

Don't go here!!! Unless you want to end up with a dead animal and a bill that they won't refund. My daughter took in her hedgehog and they sent her home with some anitbiotics and said she had a respiratory problem that they would address in a week. The next day the hedgehog was barely breathing and we took her to another hospital where they said she only had a 25% change of surviving if she was hospitalized. She died that day. The Office manager was extremely rude when I inquired about a refund for the first office visit. I was told I would be contacted serveral times, never was. I was also told that I they would get a third party to review the case, but I couldn't see the repoprt. HMMMM, they never got a third party to look at the details and they had there doctor look at it and make a judgement call (just as I thought). To say the least I never did receive a refund, was treated rudely, and we had to deal with the sadness of an animal that passed. Read Less

I've been using this vets service for many years and much to my suprise they were doing the same to me.I thought there was supposed to be a trust and caring issue between the patient and doctor and come to find out ,(with the exception of one vet)the only issue was they cared about doing a credit check on payment and trusted I would pay the other half soon.I've never left a balance and believe me there have been some huge balances. She did not know she was paying almost 2x the amount of any other vet, We paid -ver 200 for my cat to be treated for summeretime scratching and chewing. My cat hates vets her old vet would have to sedate her to do anything to her and her new vet can hold her and everything because he took the time for her to get to know him now we have n o problem. I?ve been a client at Pet Care Veterinary Hospital for more than 20 years. The doctors have taken excellent care of numerous animals for me over the years. Some were just days old and had their dew claws removed, some were old and/or sick and needed help gently getting to the Bridge when it was time and there is everything in between. They guided me on how important it was to socialize my Rottweiler and in the end, my Rottweiler LOVED to go visit the doctors. They directed me to a reputable breeder when I wanted to make a Shar Pei part of our family. Eleven years ago I became involved with Shar Pei rescue and they never flinched. The doctors have helped with the most difficult cases by taking good care of the animals AND making it affordable to the rescue group too. Six and a half years ago I moved to Isle of Wight County and even though it?s an hour drive, I still take my animals and the rescue animals to them. All in all, I cannot express how wonderful, compassionate and knowledgeable the doctors at Pet Care Veterinary Hospital are. We brought our puppies in to be checked and they were not thoroughly checked by one vet .Then another vet proceeded to dock their tails and remove their dewclaws and sent them home. Two weeks later 3 of the puppies died from a birth defect. These puppies did not need to suffer for 3wks because of the vets negligence if they had been checked properly they would not have had to suffer nor would of our family had to wake up to a dead puppy in our house and we would not of had to of paid for 3 puppies to have those items removed. After talking to several other people, vets included they should of checked their temps and seen the problem then. When confronted with the issue they denied the facts and said that they don't check that on puppies but every other time I have brought my previous puppies in for a check up they never hesitated to stick a thermometer up their butts.
