Ridge Lake Animal Hospital is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care for dogs, cats, birds, pocket pets and exotics. We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and external laboratories. We also work closely with local specialty practices when advanced diagnostic procedures are required. The facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, surgery suite, digital x-ray machine, digital dental x-ray machine, a closely supervised hospitalization area, and indoor boarding kennels with an outdoor walking area.

I have an 18 year old cat that was not doing well. He started peeing outside of his litter box and was throwing up clear liquid so I knew it wasn't a hairball. I researched various clinics and ultimately choose the Cat Clinic because they only served cats and I thought that would be a more peaceful atmosphere for Bailey. I called the clinic and spoke to Dr. K. He made an appointment for me that day. I wanted to go see a specialist as I did not want to take my cat to a regular clinic where there would be dogs and other animals as the noise is loud and Bailey is too old to have to put up with the stress on top of being sick. When I arrived at the clinic, I rang the bell as the clinic is by appointment only. Dr. K let me in and introduced himself and gave me a tour of his entire clinic. The clinic is very clean and state of the art. I have never been to a clinic where they can run all of the diagnostic tests and lab work and perform any surgery that you cat may need. I was obvious to me that Dr. K invested in his practice in order to provide state of the art care. I was very impressed with the clinic, but even more impressed with Dr. K. It was very obvious he was very experienced and had a deep care for cats as well as the right equipment to take care of Bailey. Dr. K explained everything he was going to do to Bailey and explained how he would be putting Bailey under. He uses gas so your cat does not have to have a line run and have the stress of being put under with a needle. Bailey received a senior cat examination which includes several labs, x-rays and teeth exam and cleaning. When I returned to the clinic Dr. K showed me all of the X-rays and discussed Bailey's over all health with me. Dr. K ran extensive tests on Bailey and took care of his teeth which had extensive plaque buildup on his back molars. Dr. K then told me I could call him any time of the day or night and if I had an emergency he would get up and come in and see Bailey. Granted Dr. K is more expensive than other vets, but you get what you paid for. Since my visit, Bailey is doing better and the medications have cleared up his issues. I will see Dr. K for all of Bailey's needs.

I can't say enough about the personal care that Dr. K provided us. The love and attention that he has shown our cats is second to none!
Our baby Jinx had an obstruction and Dr. K had us come right in and performed emergency surgery on Jinxie cat. We are not out of the woods yet, but without Dr. K Jinx wouldn't have stood a chance.
I urge anyone who has cats that they live dearly to consider making this office, and Dr. K specifically, your pets vet.

And this is my story .This clinic is without a doubt the best I mean BEST ever , when others told me no Dr. K said yes . My cat Osiris was suffering from a string he chewed that wrapped around his tongue causing damage to the tongue the string traveled down to his intestine the Woodbridge animal hospital told me I had to pay 3700.00 because my cat needed surgery and if I couldn't pay that amount I would need to euthanize my cat . I was devastated . My husband gave me this cat because we suffered a painful miscarriage 3 years ago . Osiris is the reason why I breathe today. after making calls and calls and calls to clinics who turned me down for payment arrangements Dr. K said yes he told me to get my cat and bring me to him right away. The animal hospital in woodbridge did not even give Osiris xrays. they just all of a sudden knew he needed surgery . Dr. k gave me a tour of his facility, showed me his equipment on what he was going to use for Osiris.Dr. K made me and my cat feel safe like everything was going to be ok . After Dr. K gave Osiris his x rays from what we could see Osiris doesn't need surgery. after pain medications and following Dr.K orders the following day Osiris was like a brand new cat he has a burst of energy like no other . Thank you Dr. K for being so compassionate in what you do for caring for the cats if it was not for you Osiris will not be alive today . This is the number one clinic he has amazing customer service , hes very informative help you understand whats all going on in a way you can understand , very affordable and he loves what he do . I will always be a customer as long as me and my cats live

Brought my cat in on short notice this morning. I have never received such personalized care for my cat, I have also never spent so much time with a Vet actually explaining things to me, showing me the facility and actually caring about my animal who is a valued member of my family. I like the way he engaged us in the care and treatment of our Cat, showing us what to look for and what to do, etc..Yes, it was pricey, but it's worth it and he does explain the treatment options in detail. I never felt pressured to do unnecessary tests and such.If you want good care for you cat with a Vet that Specializes in their care then you cannot go wrong on taking your cat there. I will go back again and bring my other two cats. Small price to pay for a piece of mind

This was an awful experience. My cat is diabetic and I gave her too much insulin and he was quick to let me know that on the phone which I didn't need to hear. Before going there I read online that Karo syrup can get their sugar back up so I did that before I left for his office. She was getting better in the car but I wanted her looked at. His door was locked, normal office hours and no receptionist. He took her in the room, checked her ears and put her in a cage and went straight to the register. He told me it would be 1200.00 for rehydration, blood test and an x-ray. The last time she was in a full diabetic coma with an overnight stay it was only 500.00. He also wanted full payment and kept saying I needed to hurry so he could get started. I told him I was leaving because it all seemed very shady and he charged me 100.00. I paid but I am looking at reporting him to the state. I got a dropper, gave my cat a little more Karo and water and she is walking around and eating and drinking on her own. WORST VET EVER.

Dr. K is an excellent vet. I got my first kitten from him in 2002. Recently, I moved home and had a sick kitten. He tried to save him, but the kitten was too sick. He was so kind about everything and that helped. He even stayed open hours later to try to save him. I then brought in my other cat, and luckily he was fine. Then, when I adopted a new kitten, he took care of him as well. The prices are a little higher, but he specializes in cats and has an excellent demeanor with people as well as their cats.

I would not trust anyone else with my precious cats. If you are looking for a vet that will take care of your cats, someone who is passionate about felines, then you have come the right place. If you want average service, go to Banfield. If you want superior service, stick with Dr. K. I wish more doctors were as kind as this man. I wish I could give him more than 5 stars. Whatever the complaints about money, for me, is irrelevant. When I was at Banfield, they charged the same price (only split into monthly payments) as Dr K, with underwhelming care. Banfield is for dogs, that is what they specialize in, with cats as an afterthought. Dr. K is specially set up to make your cats feel comfortable and experience minimal stress. If you know cats, you know what a big deal it is for them to stay relaxed. I could go on and on. My family loves Dr. K for our cats and so do my cats. For us, he is the best cat doctor around.

At first when I called, the vet was very nice, informing me of what I needed to make sure that my rescued cat would have what was needed to be healthy. When he started naming prices almost double what I had been quoted elsewhere, I let him finish his tally was quoted an estimate total of over $600! I had been quoted about $250-$350 elsewhere in the area. When I told him that I can in no way afford that price, he became immediately beligerent to the point of criticizing my finances! The website clearly says payment plans are accepted with NO interest and he says that's only for established clients. That is NOT what the website says. I try to ask questions and maybe negotiate with him but at this point he interrupts everything I say and ends with "Well take your cat somewhere else then" and hangs up on me. Just astoundingly rude behavior. If he can't respect humans that own or try to rescue cats, how am I supposed to believe he will respect my cat?

These folks really care about cats! I wanted a practice that offered more cat-centric services. I was at banfield before, and not to dismiss them, but they seem more like 'generalists' that cater to all animals, rather than specialize on any one. For example, Banfield took my cat's temperature using a rectal thermometer. I hate this done to my cat, as she is so traumatized by the experience. The folks at Woodbridge Cat Clinic understand this aversion. They go to great lengths to ensure that cats feel at ease in their office. They play soft music, they don't use metal exam tables, but use material better suited for a cat's sensibilities. The vet, Dr. K, taught me how to scruff my cat to make nail clipping and medicating easier. I was given some vitamins and antibiotics for my cat to get over her minor case of sniffles. My vet also gave me a great broth recipe that will encourage my cat to drink more water. They have boarding facilities in house, they also are able to hydrate via IV if necessary for overly hydrated cats. I cannot emphasize enough what great peace of mind it gives me to know my furr baby is in good hands. I don't want to forget the payment details in my review. When I compare what I paid monthly at Banfield, with what I paid for an initial visit at my Dr. K's, I believe it is comparable. At first, it may seem that Banfield is familiar because it seems just like insurance that we pay for. However, the lower quality of service is not worth the 'familiar'. I am sticking with Dr. K because I feel my cat is in good, loving hands. The office is located on the right hand side of Old Bridge, when traveling northbound. It is in a small office complex, near the intersection of Occoquan Rd and Old Bridge. Caution should be used when driving into the office, since it is located on a somewhat busy and accident prone part of Old Bridge Rd. Thanks Dr. K! --Karen & Nina Herrera

Dr K is amazing!!! I took my cat Jameson here today with a severe femur fracture and I know I made the best choice for his care! Dr K spoke to me personally on the phone when I called to make the appt, taking the time to ask questions about Jameson and what not... When I got there he took over an hour examining Jameson and making sure I understood what needed to happen for Jameson to heal. He even gave me his cell number incase Jameson has any issues when the clinic isn't open... I would recommend him to anyone with a cat!!! Thank you so much Dr K!!

Yes, they are expensive; however, these people have hauled themselves out of bed, left events, etc. to help us whenever our cats have been in need. Oh, and they've beaten us to the office every time, no matter the time. They're honest, kind, caring, incredibly sympathetic to both the cats & their families, & very knowledgeable. The Clinic is cleaner than ANY vet office we've ever visited. I'm grateful for Dr. K & Sandy for all they've done for our family over these many years.

My experience with Dr. K and his staff was better than I expected. My 5 month old kitten has feline leukemia. I had been to two other vets and both had no idea how to handle my case. I never walked away with answers. Dr. K was very informative on her conditions and new exactly how to treat her symptoms. Feline leukemia is not treatable but Dr. K was doing his best to get my kitten as healthy as possible but unfortunately she had to be laid to rest.
I'm not sure why others are complaining about his services as he takes great care of his cat patients and made my husband and myself feel very comfortable in his office. He took the time to talk to us about her condition and even pulled out the text book to show us what was going on. When my kitten was in the hospital overnight, he would call me with updates and also call to check on my kitten after a visit.
If Dr. K's costs seem a bit too high, just remember, you get what you pay for. I went to several "generic" vet offices paying their prices and never walked away with answers. Never. I go to Dr. K and he is fully driven to finding answers. The other vet's I went to had no idea how to address FeLV+ cats. They stressed my kitten out by drawing blood where Dr. K used isofluorine gas to put her out just long enough to draw her blood. He also used the isofluorine when I had to put my kitten down. He used the gas to put her to sleep and then euthanized her so she was not in any distress during her last moments.
Dr. K and his staff provided outstanding patient care and I will definitely go back to him when I get another cat.
Side note: I noticed all of the negative reviews are due to price and all the 5 star reviews are reviewing the actual service. In my opinion, a high quality service trumps price. I would also like to mention that Dr. K did not charge me for a lot of services as the costs for care were starting to get very expensive. I appreciate him working with me financially as well.

He was so kind about everything and that helped. He even stayed open hours later to try to save him. I then brought in my other cat, and luckily he was fine. Then, when I adopted a new kitten, he took care of him as well. The prices are a little higher, but he specializes in cats and has an excellent demeanor with people as well as their cats.

At first when I called, the vet was very nice, informing me of what I needed to make sure that my rescued cat would have what was needed to be healthy. When he started naming prices almost double what I had been quoted elsewhere, I let him finish his tally was quoted an estimate total of over $600! I had been quoted about $250-$350 elsewhere in the area. When I told him that I can in no way afford that price, he became immediately beligerent to the point of criticizing my finances! The website clearly says payment plans are accepted with NO interest and he says that's only for established clients. That is NOT what the website says. I try to ask questions and maybe negotiate with him but at this point he interrupts everything I say and ends with "Well take your cat somewhere else then" and hangs up on me. Just astoundingly rude behavior. If he can't respect humans that own or try to rescue cats, how am I supposed to believe he will respect my cat?

These folks really care about cats! I wanted a practice that offered more cat-centric services. I was at banfield before, and not to dismiss them, but they seem more like 'generalists' that cater to all animals, rather than specialize on any one. For example, Banfield took my cat's temperature using a rectal thermometer. I hate this done to my cat, as she is so traumatized by the experience. The folks at Woodbridge Cat Clinic understand this aversion. They go to great lengths to ensure that cats feel at ease in their office. They play soft music, they don't use metal exam tables, but use material better suited for a cat's sensibilities. The vet, Dr. K, taught me how to scruff my cat to make nail clipping and medicating easier. I was given some vitamins and antibiotics for my cat to get over her minor case of sniffles. My vet also gave me a great broth recipe that will encourage my cat to drink more water. They have boarding facilities in house, they also are able to hydrate via IV if necessary for overly hydrated cats. I cannot emphasize enough what great peace of mind it gives me to know my furr baby is in good hands. I don't want to forget the payment details in my review. When I compare what I paid monthly at Banfield, with what I paid for an initial visit at my Dr. K's, I believe it is comparable. At first, it may seem that Banfield is familiar because it seems just like insurance that we pay for. However, the lower quality of service is not worth the 'familiar'. I am sticking with Dr. K because I feel my cat is in good, loving hands. The office is located on the right hand side of Old Bridge, when traveling northbound. It is in a small office complex, near the intersection of Occoquan Rd and Old Bridge. Caution should be used when driving into the office, since it is located on a somewhat busy and accident prone part of Old Bridge Rd. Thanks Dr. K! --Karen & Nina Herrera

Dr K is amazing!!! I took my cat Jameson here today with a severe femur fracture and I know I made the best choice for his care! Dr K spoke to me personally on the phone when I called to make the appt, taking the time to ask questions about Jameson and what not... When I got there he took over an hour examining Jameson and making sure I understood what needed to happen for Jameson to heal. He even gave me his cell number incase Jameson has any issues when the clinic isn't open... I would recommend him to anyone with a cat!!! Thank you so much Dr K!!

Very caring. Clinic is clean and blood tests can be done on site; a bit expensive perhaps because of it. One cat is doing well because of "Doctor K," and an aged feline family member went to kitty heaven gracefully and a personal touch. And, of course, no barking dogs.

Yes, they are expensive; however, these people have hauled themselves out of bed, left events, etc. to help us whenever our cats have been in need. Oh, and they've beaten us to the office every time, no matter the time. They're honest, kind, caring, incredibly sympathetic to both the cats & their families, & very knowledgeable. The Clinic is cleaner than ANY vet office we've ever visited. I'm grateful for Dr. K & Sandy for all they've done for our family over these many years.

My experience with Dr. K and his staff was better than I expected. My 5 month old kitten has feline leukemia. I had been to two other vets and both had no idea how to handle my case. I never walked away with answers. Dr. K was very informative on her conditions and new exactly how to treat her symptoms. Feline leukemia is not treatable but Dr. K was doing his best to get my kitten as healthy as possible but unfortunately she had to be laid to rest.
I'm not sure why others are complaining about his services as he takes great care of his cat patients and made my husband and myself feel very comfortable in his office. He took the time to talk to us about her condition and even pulled out the text book to show us what was going on. When my kitten was in the hospital overnight, he would call me with updates and also call to check on my kitten after a visit.
If Dr. K's costs seem a bit too high, just remember, you get what you pay for. I went to several "generic" vet offices paying their prices and never walked away with answers. Never. I go to Dr. K and he is fully driven to finding answers. The other vet's I went to had no idea how to address FeLV+ cats. They stressed my kitten out by drawing blood where Dr. K used isofluorine gas to put her out just long enough to draw her blood. He also used the isofluorine when I had to put my kitten down. He used the gas to put her to sleep and then euthanized her so she was not in any distress during her last moments.
Dr. K and his staff provided outstanding patient care and I will definitely go back to him when I get another cat.
Side note: I noticed all of the negative reviews are due to price and all the 5 star reviews are reviewing the actual service. In my opinion, a high quality service trumps price. I would also like to mention that Dr. K did not charge me for a lot of services as the costs for care were starting to get very expensive. I appreciate him working with me financially as well.
