Excellent care and professional service. The staff and Dr Wolfe provided post operation care for my guide dog. My guide had an emergency operation at Animal Emergency Center (also excellent) but needed post-op care. After a day of post-op care my guide came home and the staff called for two days to make sure my dog was improving. The whole ordeal was stressful, but having a caring doctor and staff really helps. Extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service I had at Yorktown Animal Hospital. I took my black lab here for two years until I realized I should not spend one more dime at this business. The staff always seemed unhappy to be there. When it was time to have my dog spayed, I felt so uncomfortable with the staff, I felt that I couldn't leave her there for her surgery. Something just feels odd about the vet technicians as they are not friendly and not very social with the animals. Even though I live two minutes away from the Yorktown Animal Hospital (yes, TWO minutes away!), I decided it was best to travel 30 minutes for an awesome vet! I love her new vet so much... I will never ever return to Yorktown Animal Hospital. The first visit to her new vet, he showed me something about my pet that I didn't not even realize she had... neither did the vets at YAH. The vets at YAH were good for shots and keeping vaccinations in check, but really... disappointed with the lack of attention they take for each pet.For the amount of money YAH charges, you would expect top quality care, and frankly, you just won't get it here.Save your money for a different vet! After moving to the area, I did lots of research & decided to try this veterinary practice. I found it to be very efficient with a staff that truly seems to adore animals. They have an app that allows me to see my pets' medical records, ask questions & make appointments without picking up the phone. The waiting area is exceptionally clean & the front desk staff has a nice balance of professionalism & animal adoration. Additionally, they're an equal adoration group....all pet's are fawned over equally unless there's a kitten or puppy but we're all bias to those.When I had my kitten spayed, they required that she stay overnight. In 10+ years of animal rescue, I've never seen that. However, the total charge is still remarkably reasonable. Since kitty was still messing with her incision, I called them on day 2 of her recovery bc I was going to be out of town all day. They let me drop her there for kitty daycare which put my mind at ease. Very accommodating! Read Less

If you are looking for quality pet care in Hampton Roads look no further than Yorktown Animal Hospital. This clinic has an amazing staff, they love on everyone's animals as they come in for their visit, greet their customers professionally, and overall the best Veterinarian's I've ever dealt with. I have 5 dogs, a cat, and they all receive routine care. Being family owned clinic and not corporate is important to me as a family business owner myself. I can't imagine taking my family members anywhere else. Dr. Wolf & Dr. Giribaldi are extremely knowledgeable, and I am so glad that we found them after moving to Yorktown 8 years ago. I addition, I work with fosters, rescues, transports, and have received needed help from Yorktown Animal Hospital and staff. Moral Character speaks loudly at this business, and I can't imagine them getting less than 5 stars. In My Opinion: As for the 1 star review I read while reviewing others is just wrong. The gentlemen was mad that the city now is taxing his dog? Of course they would since any rabies vaccination requires proper paperwork to be sent to your city of residence. Also, you have to have a dog license as part of being a legal dog owner. Why would someone get mad over $5.00 tax, and then give a bad review over it. Maybe try writing your tax man whom would be the responsible party. Sometimes online reviews are just not fair or justified, and certainly need a reality check.Read Less

My family and I have been going here for about 12 years now and each time the services have proved to be efficient and of quality. It's nestled off Fort Eustis Blvd only a couple feet away from route 17. The area is pretty nice, the outside of the clinic has plenty of pet walking area and doggie bags to clean of the mess. The inside is pretty spacious and there is even a small kids play area. The office staff is friendly and you can tell really love not only their job but animals which is always comforting to see. The inside waiting area and the actual treatment rooms are kept very clean and doesn't have a strong odor of pet urine like some places I've been to. Appointments are pretty open and I've never had an issue with scheduling. The only downside is that this is a small staffed clinic and therefore when you arrive at the appointment site there is a possibility that you'll have to wait a while. We waited over 15-20 minutes when we went last weekend and it seems to be a trend but for the sake of our dog's health this doesn't bother me too much. The animal hospital also offers bathing services which can get a little pricey compared to other chain pet stores but they do a good job at it. Asides from appointments and grooming this place has other services like behavioral counseling and dietary counseling as well.Overall, this is my go to place when it comes to my pet's health because they have done a great job for many years and I will continue to come back. I drive 30++ minutes to go to this vet because they are worth it. The facility is clean and they have top notch diagnostic equipment. Not the cheapest but truly a good value for the quality of care. They are truly concerned for the animals. Yes, they are in business to meet their payroll and pay their bills but what good is a vet who can't afford to keep the doors open?? My husband and I recently relocated to Yorktown in the middle of September. Unfortunately our 7 year old dog got sick before and when we got here and wasn't eating. I found Yorktown Animal Hospital online and called them and they told us that they could see her right away. The vet, Dr. Wolfe, did a full exam and was so friendly and caring. The staff is amazing as well and very caring. Unfortunately, our dog was not getting better and she was at the vet 4 times in 1 week getting tests done. They are also very inexpensive. The last appointment my dog wasn't getting better and they sent her for an emergency ultrasound. She was found to have multiple tumors in her stomach, spleen, and liver. We brought her home and the next morning took her to Yorktown Animal Hospital to unfortunately put her down. Most of the staff and even the vet were emotional. They made us feel so comforted and they really cared for our dog. They also sent us an amazing sympathy card where each staff member wrote something on the card about our dog. When we do get another dog, they will be the vet that we go to. I highly recommend them!!Read Less

This is absolutely the best veterinary practice in the area. I have gone to a few others in Yorktown and Newport News, where the receptionists act like they can't be bothered to schedule appointments, they open their doors 20 minutes late, and the staff act like they never want to see another dog or cat again. This is so not the case with Yorktown Animal Hospital. I love the location, the friendly, helpful receptionists, and everyone that comes in contact with you and your pet makes you feel like they really care and understand that your pet is special to you. I take my dog here and feel confident that she's getting the best care. I even suggested my fiance take his two dogs there and he loves it. I started going to Dr. Wolf after going to a vet for multiple years and realizing that everytime I walked out of that vet I spent an average of $200.00 + and a feeling as though I had experienced a "hard sell" technique.Dr. Wolf will spend as much time as necessary to ensure that your animal has had a complete check up and every question possible has been answered. He even completes his care by placing a follow up call to the owner to see how his or her animal is doing. In addition to his exceptional care, he will also take that extra step to be sure that any test/procedures needed and/or recommended will NOT suck you dry and alternatives if possible are recommended. His partner, Dr. G. will do the same. I personally appreciate their honesty and professionalism.I have personally recommended my entire neighborhood to him and they ALL love this clinic as well as we do. We just adopted a kitten, Charlie, from the SPCA and we recieved a free check up. I went to YorkTown because of some other reviews i found online. When we got there the place was very clean and tidy. The receptionist was very friendly and She would speak to Charlie and call him by his name. The nurses took Charlie's temperature (which he did not like) but comfoted him. The vet was also very througher. He answered all our questions. Charlie had an URI (a cold) and the dr gave us clear directions on how to treat him. Four days later the Recpetionist telephoned us at home to see how Charlie was doing and if we wanted the doctor to telephone us at all. they were very nice and i was really happy they did a follow up call.
