I called Smokey Point Animal Hospital at 12:27pm  on Saturday knowing that they were closing in 3 minutes and was hoping to be able to make an appointment as early as possible for Monday morning as the new addition to our family had developed cherry eye overnight. No one could be more surprised when the office staff told me to bring my dog in immediately and that Dr. Ron would see her as soon as I was able to get there. We've been to 3 other vets in the Marysville/Smokey Point area over the last 15 years.  I won't name them because they weren't 'bad'.  However, the service we received at Smokey Point was exceptional.  It was convenient, the doctor did a thorough exam and he had a way of talking to my dog that immediately calmed him.  The vet answered all my questions, wasn't in a hurry and was very reassuring.  Not only did he not try to upsell me on services or products, or require expensive tests, he gave options with an honest professional opinion on what would be necessary vs what would be ideal.  The best part was the price!  I don't understand how there can be such a difference in price, but I urge you to compare.  I was stunned. We've been with the same vet for over 10 years now and thought they had our pet's best interest at heart, but they botched our last 'goodbye' with  our 12 year old cocker and began charging exorbitant prices for small things, and shaming us for our opinions on vaccinations,  so we decided to try a new vet.  Today we brought our 9 year old pug in for a tooth cleaning, expecting that she'd need extractions again because her breath was getting pretty funky.  Upon exam, the lady told us her teeth looked fine and she didn't need a cleaning.  We had her anal gland extracted and nails clipped, along with some blood work and it was less than 200.00.  I am pretty comfortable saying that my previous vet would have gladly taken her back, knowing her teeth were fine, and put her under sedation just to make some extra money.  We were so glad she didn't need it, and they didn't force it down our throats or try to shame us into unnecessary testing or procedures, pills or pricey food.  The staff is efficient, not sugary sweet but genuine, kind and friendly.  We are so lucky to have been referred here!  I'd highly recommend this vet.  Even though we have a lot of vets closer to home, this one is well worth the drive. Great experience here. The front staff were really nice and just minutes after filling out my paper work I was in to see the doctor. Other vets you have to wait, talk to a tech and 15 minutes to see the vet. Not here. The vet was right to the point, no beating around the bush. Highly recommend coming here. Read Less

Dr. Ron is the best! We took my Siamese cat to him today after receiving horrible treatment elsewhere and he was so friendly. Usually my cat has to be drugged to even be handled but he didn't have to. He handled her very well and did what he needed to without any need to sedate her. He charged us a fair price and we'll definitely be taking Roxy back for her surgery. It's definitely worth the drive from Everett! Read Less

I started using Dr. Ron when we got here in the 80's. I can't recall when we didn't have a pet that was cared for by him. He is caring, really loves the animals.. Keeps his prices affordable and is conservative. He knows when to refer to outside specialists but I find that my animals have lived very good lives without much outside intervention. I like his practical compassion. Recently after a two year bout with cancer we had to let a beloved companion go. He made it as easy as something like that could be. He allowed me to stay with my pet before and after he died. We will do what we have to to be responsible for our pets lives but any other vet in the area would have had us into thousands of dollars of special services with the same eventual end. I think he instinctively knows what Our pets needs and what his parents can absorb. If you want good solid expierence..with all the needed services and without a lot of slight of hand that you don't understand, I think you'll love Dr. Ron and his crew. The other vets that work also seem to me to be similarly wired. Dr Ron also extends his care outside his practice into the local community and the world community. He serves compassionately in Africa yearly... Cool guy, great vet...as another 17 old guy nears his final years, I'm were really glad we have him beside us.Read Less

Dr. Ron and staff walked us through several years of diabetes and ultimately cancer with our Maine Coon. They went above and beyond helping us through Paco's passing. They presented us with an unexpected gift of Paco's framed paw print. There are no words to express the gratitude we have for that gesture. Dr. Ron and the whole staff are FABULOUS!  We could not ask for better care and love for our dogs than this place.  Dr. Ron has been there for us through our lab Lady getting Addison's Disease and living with it for 8 years when everywhere else said to put her down and with his help she lived to the ripe old age of 14-1/2 dying of old age.  Our chow, Bubba, loved him to death and he was just as sad for him as it was for us when he had to be put down due to old age.  There is no more compassionate man than Dr. Ron and he is a true professional.  I love that our appointments take a little longer because he explains everything and spends quality time with each animal in his care.  I don't mind waiting my turn because I know I will be given all the care the person before me was given.  I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SMOKEY PT. We're were dog sitting for a friend and unfortunately had to make an unplanned visit to their vet on a Sat. morning! I must say while I wasn't too impressed with their office staff, Dr. Ron was spot on in diagnosing the problem.  The office and his demeanor reminded me of the old time vet's office of the past - but a peek into their surgery area showed that's where they ensure they have the latest technology.  We ended up with a happy story - would recommend the care. Do not take your pet to Smokey Point Animal Hospital. My dog had surgery there yesterday. She has been vomiting all night and now today. She is in pain because she can't keep any pain medication down. Paid them almost $1,000.00 dollars over the past two weeks. I called this morning to get instructions for after surgery care for the vomiting. A women vet called me back. I have talked with her before and already knew that she is a very rude and unhappy person. She refused to give me any advice for the vomiting and told me there is nothing more they can do for me wanted me to drive my dog who just had surgery there yesterday and is a huge amount of pain to a emergency clinic a hour away. They did the surgery, they are open and only a few minutes from me. I paid them a lot of money for the surgery. Then she had the nerve to hang up on me. All I could do was sit and cry because I was in shock and could not believe what just happened. Who does that? I have been a customer of there' s for 10 years. I paid them thousands of dollars to care for my other pet who passed away. Is this how they care about the customers and animals. I thought after you pay for surgery the vet was to make sure the dog was O.K afterwards. Nope not this vet! If my dog passes away as a result of this I am going to call a lawyer and take action against them. Please do not put yourself or your precious pet through the stress they have caused me. All they care about is collecting your money. They will nickle and dime you to death. There is a huge lack of communication. I may end up with a dead dog and a $1,000.00 dollar bill because of them. Is an amazing vet. When I lost my dog, Shadie they were explaining to us that sometimes animals go to heaven where they play with their red balls. At the time we were taking it extreamly hard. She was only 4 years old and they gave me a book and in the book is a page where the dogs are playing in heaven with a big red ball. This animal vet is so caring, sweet, and helpful. I have called many, many, many times with silly questions and the way they treat my animals is amazing. There isn't a better place to go. I have gone to almost every vet in Marysville and Arlington. 1 vet (by Shoultes) wanted us to pay for our dogs surgery 2x because they messed up. They are rude and expensive and their attitudes.. that's another story. I haven't found anything negative about this vet and I will recommend them to anyone. Read Less

I have been taking my kitties (Boo Boo, Pea Wee, Radar, Tommy, Sissy) to see Dr. Ron R Huitger since 2002 and they have such a wonderful, compassionate, and caring staff. The fees he charges are very reasonable compared to other clinics I have gone to. My kitty Pea Wee has CRF and anytime I have a question, they are very helpful in answering my questions and giving advice. Read Less
