1/4/18 took my 7yr standard poodle (who is with me 24/7) in to have a small tooth extracted. Picked him up later that day as instructed and he couldn't use his back leg. He was walking 4-6 miles a d...
1/4/18 took my 7yr standard poodle (who is with me 24/7) in to have a small tooth extracted. Picked him up later that day as instructed and he couldn't use his back leg. He was walking 4-6 miles a day with me before and was even a runner. He now has a full harness and I have to help him walk and use stairs. He can't walk around the block or hold himself up to go to the bathroom. I tried acupuncture, cold laser, saw a neurologist, and finally went to OSU for an MRI. In the meantime meds have a mess for him so I have had many weeks cooking for him, not to mention vomiting at home/work/car and diarrhea.
Over $5,000 into this since then and I just called another vet to schedule him to be put down at my home because this is no life. No one could offer any diagnosis or help, just guesswork, unless getting an MRI.
By deduction, according to OSU, it was an FCE (aka stroke) likely from the surgery since it was immediately the day of. Now, my dog recovered fully from bloat and had a gastropexy in Dec 2014 because I knew of it and the signs. I had never heard of FCE. My advice is to read about it, stay with your dogs 100% of the time in clinic front or back, and get to know if your vet has insurance.

Dr Ivy has been nothing but wonderful. Candy while at first very straight forward has the biggest heart. April takes her time to get to know you and your pets name and remembers them. I have an epileptic Aussie and Dr Ivy told me 3 options for treatment what the pros and cons and never made me feel like I was alone. Rven now after every big seizure he has when I call they are very compassionate. All 4 of my animals go there and when I moved I make the longer drive to see her. All of the staff, especially Dr Ivy, have their quirks and you always leave with a smile. Best vet I have ever been to.

The nicest people you will ever meet we did not any problems with are animals but after a delivery down the road where truck drivers are truck broke down on the road in front of the animal clinic a lady approached are truck and ask if we would like a cup of coffee we said we where waiting for the tow truck driver and could not leave the truck and 15 minutes later the 2 lady's knocked on the truck with 2 cups of coffee a bag of sugar and creamer and the best cookies awsome thank you very much the world would be a much better place if everyone was as nice as you..have a blessed day god,bless you

I've been bringing my gang to Dr. Engstrom for a while now and have been mostly happy overall. Dr. Ivy is a very good vet and I feel fortunate she's so close by. But this review isn't without complain...
I've been bringing my gang to Dr. Engstrom for a while now and have been mostly happy overall. Dr. Ivy is a very good vet and I feel fortunate she's so close by. But this review isn't without complaint, as I've noted a few things that could be improved here...and quite possibly things the Doc is completely unaware of.
Returning phone calls. Oh man, these guys are awful at this. One of my pets recently received a diagnosis for a chronic condition. So a few weeks back, I called after hours on a Friday and left a message inquiring whether the vet would like to see him the following week. No phone call came Saturday, despite them being open a half day and nothing the following week either.
Same thing happened again the other day when I left a message. By the middle of the next day, I still hadn't heard back regarding a question. When I called back to check to make another inquiry, there was zero acknowledgement they'd received the message, but they had an answer ready for me. Not very professional.
The support staff (receptionist and a couple of techs) seem fairly dispassionate about their jobs, something I don't particularly enjoy seeing in a healthcare environment. Initially thought it was just a matter of an off day...but after coming here for a few years it's evidently more of the norm. C'mon, folks. Fake a little enthusiasm! Put yourselves in your clients shoes and try seeing things from their vantage point.. imagine how you'd like to be greeted when you go to your doctor's office. Those annoyances aside- overall, a nice little clinic in the valley with a casual vibe and good care for your furry friends.

I took all my animals to her when I lived in WA State (Lord how I miss being there!)
I have lived in Colorado for the last 7 years. Never have I found a vet with the compassion she does. & years later I still call her to verify what the docs do/recomend here. Every time I talk to her she gives me advice on how exactly to take care of the animal in question which is 100 x's what the vets here do/say. She never treats me like I can't, and only she can...(like the vets here) She treats me like an equal and helps me take care of my four legged children, as financially and economically as possible.
15,000,000 thumbs up. Amazing woman! Completely blessed God led me to A Valley Animal Hospital and Dr. Engstrom

I normally don't feel compelled to write reviews online, but received such excellent service and had a great experience with A Valley Animal Hospital that I wanted to let other pet lovers know about them. The Dr is top notch. Courteous, professional, knowledgeable and caring. Within moments of entering the office I felt right at home and was immediately put at ease by the cheery disposition of the vet tech who greeted me and my dogs from behind the reception desk. Her staff is lovely and super helpful. Kudos on running such a great office. Well worth the drive from Seattle to Auburn.

Within moments of entering the office I felt right at home and was immediately put at ease by the cheery disposition of the vet tech who greeted me and my dogs from behind the reception desk. Her staff is lovely and super helpful. Kudos on running such a great office. Well worth the drive from Seattle to Auburn.
