The office staff and veterinary assistance are exemplary in their roles. They are kind, helpful, compassionate. There is an emergency clinic that shares the same location and those vets and crew are terrible. I was saddened that my poor sick dog was being cared for by such awful doctors and staff. For those with negative reviews, it's really important to note that there are two different businesses at this location that are not associated with each other. Most everyone except the doctors are extremely difficult to communicate with. I don't know if they are not paying attention or what and I'm not going to go into details, but it has been very frustrating. You can't get the vets on the phone because the people up front won't let you... but miss they miss the crux of the reason for your call when it's explained clearly. While I feel like the doctor I encountered was knowledgable, the approach seems like shots in the dark rather than a targeted approach. I know I'm not a vet but I know my animal and its behaviors better than the vet ever will during his limited time with it. I feel like my input should be taken more seriously. I understand that it's good to test for everything under the sun but when it all comes back negative again and again and they keep pushing for testing things that are less and less likely the culprit (especially when he was a rescue that was thoroughly tested before we even got him, paperwork included) it makes me begin to wonder if I'm not just being squeezed for cash. They still can't tell me what the problem is. Find somewhere else. This place is amateur--at best. Read Less

I will keep this very simple. I asked for a quote to treat my dogs serious medical condition. I needed to make a tough decision. Should I treat my dog or put him down. These were my only choices at the time. I was given two quotes. A high and low estimate. Based on these quotes, I decided to go ahead with surgery. After successful treatment of my dog and I was told that treatment went without a hitch. I picked up my dog and my bill. They exceeded my High estimate by over six hundred dollars. The on duty staff apologized for such a big difference and said that the on duty Vet should have gave me a higher quote. Low estimate was $2,100, I payed $3,500. I have used other emergency clinics in the past and I have no problem with the high bills if I'm quoted honestly. I will never use this clinic again and suggest you don't either. My advice is to look up all your emergency clinics phone numbers in your area and program those numbers in your phone before an emergency happens. I wouldn't recommended this clinic! Read Less

I have been taking my animals to Dr. Schneider and Dr. Jow for years. They both take the time to answer all my questions and they treat all animals as if they were their own. I just recently boarded my golden retriever with them for 4 days and it was a great experience. Their prices are reasonable and the technicians are always so excited to see my golden so I know they are taking excellent care of him. When I dropped my dog off I told them that we had been having trouble getting some mats out (I didn't want them to think I was neglecting my baby). When I picked him up they told me that they had groomed him and got out some of the mats. And at no extra charge. That just further showed me that they care enough to take extra steps for the well being of the animals. I would recommend this veterinary hospital to everyone! Read Less

This is a review of the emergency after hours clinic. Pros: Open all nights, weekends, and holidays - when all other vets are closed. Call and tell them what's wrong and when you're coming, and you'll be seen relatively soon, depending on how many other pets are there. Cost is pretty darn low for an emergency clinic - $65, plus whatever other medical procedures you agree to. I called and asked if it was normal for a pregnant cat to have loose stool with blood in it, and the lady that answered asked the vet and then told me I should probably bring her in. I was impressed that she didn't simply say "I don't know, but you should bring her in." Staff was fantastic. Hardly any wait time. Paperwork easy to fill out. Vet doesn't seem terribly compassionate, but he gave her a shot and I got some medicine. He explained things brusquely but clearly. I hate taking my cats to the vet, but this was a quick, relatively painless visit. Highly recommended for emergency after-hours visits. Read Less

I recently had a pet emergency with my 5 year old dog. I called the Auburn Vet Hospital at 845 am on Saturday and much like the other reviewers I was only able to recieve information regarding a paymet that would have to be made. When I orignially called it was a basic $65.00 fee and I would have to be there in the next hour or I would have to make an appointment with the regular hour Vet and that may take days. I didn't have days so I said I will be right down. I live less than 5 minutes away.......so I was right down. I rang the door bell and waited outside in the cold for many minutes. A dull whitted girl comes to the door and acts suprised to see me. She tells me she will ask if the vet is willing to see me and much like the wizard of oz she shuts the door on my face and leaves me and my sick dog outside. She returns and gifts me with the information that the fine doctor will service my dog....A SERVICE THEY MARKET AS THIER CHOSEN JOB! I wait a long time and then a strange vet comes in and makes me feel like I am a bad pet owner. He then provides me with a $500 quote and in a state of panic and self doubt I sign over my life. I then realize that the 65 fee is now 85 and that if I would have waited an hour I could have been seen fast and not paid any after hours fee. My dof is now on the mend but this was not a great experience!! Read Less

The saddest part of me coming to this site and reading that other families horrible experience is seeing that this is not uncommon for this vet ER. How upsetting that when we have a problem with a family pet that we cannot trust people whom we should be able to. The highlights: I called because my kitten was throwing up blod over and over. The girl asked no Qs and kept repeating that I'd have to pay upon arrival. I said I'd be there in 15 mins. Rang the bell, waited, was let in oddly, thrown a form and girl stated ""I'll be back.... whenever."" I then stood there at the front desk alone at 10pm at night for 55 mins. Tried to get the young girl and Dr.s attention repeatedly and they ignored and rushed down the hall. Finally called a vet ER in Tacoma and was told that they immediately triage the animal. These people had not even LOOKED AT my cat in her cage let alone taken vitals. I walked into the back to tell them I was leaving and surprised to see FIVE workers back there. They basically begged me to stay and the dr. looking annoyed said he'd look at my cat in 5 mins. I just wanted to leave but said fine. Inside the room I was assigned, there are no doors inbetween the rooms so I kept my kitten in cage due to dog in room next to us with no barrier inbetween. Dr. took vitals and gave her fluids via IV for 5 mins. The young girl checked me out for $140 and told me to restrict my cats food/water for a day then feed bland chicken and scrambled eggs. ??? In the room next to me the famly was clearly upset about their animal and were given mis-information about whether they had to pay $500 right now as a down payment or if that was full payment. they thought that was the full payment and only had to pay less than for down payment. Felt badly for them. Go to vet in Tacoma on 56th/Durango. They are phenomenal. My cat my have leukemia or a bad virus. Her white blod cells were EXTREMELY low. She was in the vet ER 3 days in Tacoma b/c she was very sick afterall. Read Less

On Christmas Eve our kitten fell from the top floor of our home to the bottom floor, which resulted in either a broken or sprained foot. Having no experience with cat injuries, both my husband and I were extremely upset. We found the first place that was open, Auburn Veterinary Hospital (718 Auburn Way North). We called and were told that he would have a room right away and to come in as soon as possible. We arrived as a pizza delivery guy was arriving and had to STAND and wait with our cat for about 30 minutes while the staff apparently ate their pizza. We were finally given a room, in which a vet assistant came in right away to weigh our cat and take down a few notes. About 10 minutes later the vet came into the room. His name is MICHAEL BROWN. Don't ever take your animal to this man. For one, he is completely rude. Upon asking for clarification in regards to our animal he looked me in the eye and said ""lady, that is what I just said to you"". He lacked respect for both my husband and I and our cat. He told us to take our cat home, no x-rays were done, and have him rest for a day or two. For two, he lacked knowledge of animals. We have been told since then that for 1) he should have x-rayed our cat and 2) he should have spent more than 3 minutes on the exam. Please, please, please do not trust this place with your animals.

Read Less

I have taken my Bernese Mountain Dog to this vet for two years, and my family has taken their pets to this vet for 20+ years. I have seen Dr. Schneider, Jow, and Collum and they are all three extremely knowledgeable. They take time to answer all of my questions and because I am a regular customer, are always willing to help when I call with questions too. I would HIGHLY recommend taking your pet to see these capable and friendly doctors. The staff are great as well, always excited to see the animals that come in for appointments. My dog loves going to the vet and our experience here has been nothing but great. They are very good with the animals and will go above and beyond what is expected.
