We have been coming to Companion for over 3 years now and are so thankful for the high quality care our dogs receive. We have 2 pugs and a retired black lab guide dog. Dr. Derdinger is our regular vet and she is amazing! Very attentive, listens and really takes the time to get to know us and our babies. I would give them five stars except they're expensive. I've been coming here for ten years and all the veterinarians I've seen have been very good. My dog is especially scared to go to the vet and they have worked with her every time. They're able to do what they need to do to keep my dog healthy and active. We don't enjoy going to the vet but if we have to go, this is a good place. Read Less

I can't say enough positive things about the staff at Companion Animal Hospital! They are ALL terrific, helpful, knowledgeable, and available. I feel lucky that we live so close to them in case anything ever happens to our beloved senior dog. UPDATE: 2/5/2018 > We had to put our dog down this past weekend, which after 16 years and not having children of our own, was one of the most difficult decisions of our lives as a couple. Even though our regular Veterinarian was out on leave, Dr. Smith stepped up and was very helpful in helping us come to a decision that was right for Tank. As gut wrenching as it was to let him go, it was the best decision for him. Dr. Smith, Jessica at the front desk get extra thanks from us for their thoughtfulness. As we left, the only strange thing was hearing people at the front desk banter and laugh. In our grief, it seemed an odd way to exit the building after such a great loss. So far, impressed. I switched to these guys after reading reviews and not getting my dog's ailments resolved at another local vet. Glad I made the switch. Both vets I saw were good with me and the dog and solved the problem(s) first time around. They also were willing to let me leave the office without a $200 bill every time. I have 2 dogs that I need to board when I travel. I first left them for 3 nights and then a month later left them for 7. Both times when I picked the dogs up, they smelled good and seemed to be happy as though they were well taken care of. Dr. Derpinger literally saved our dog Winston's life. I'm so grateful that I brought him to Companion Animal Hospital office a second opinion. Thanks to her quick diagnoses and referral our boy came back from an Addisonian crisis. He was hours from death, his heart rate was in the 30s and his organs were failing. We brought our Dane mix to Companion for a ruptured cyst removal. I was able to get an appointment right away when I called and all of the reception staff were wonderful. All that staff that I interacted with were very friendly and knowledgable which definitely put me and my dog at ease. We met with Dr Hargett and she explained what would need to be done to remove the cyst and what had happened to cause the large lump that had formed. She also let us know what the aftercare would look like so we had a realistic expectation of what to expect. A few days later I brought my girl in for surgery. Almost 2 weeks later the staples are out and the incision looks amazing. They even sent in our insurance claim for us so we didn't have to worry about doing it later. I've had a cat and three dogs treated at Companion. The cat and one of the dogs are now deceased and the two current dogs are seen by Companion. I've been going there for almost ten years and have always had wonderful care. Every person from the front desk to the vets to the vet techs and boarding staff brighten my day each time I'm there. The first dog I brought there had been abused as a puppy and was very careful with strangers and easy to scare. In regard to the day boarding, she often did day boarding at Companion in her early years and she always happily trotted in to the building and ran to and clung to the boarding staff who picked her up - I know she adored them and felt safe and happy with them. My current dogs go to boarding far less frequently but they also adore the staff there and happily run into the building. The hours are beyond convenient, the staff makes everything easy and I always feel my pets are as loved there as they are by me. There's no doubt that all my furry friends will continue to go to Companion. Read Less

I had an emergency with my dog eating something he shouldn't have and i knew he needed to be made to vomit. I was on my way to the ER vet when.my roommate suggested we stop by companion to see if they would help us as they were closer. We were the only people in the clinic and the only car in the parking lot. Not only did the front not show an ounce of compassion or concern or caring to my dog or myself. They turned us down flat. What vet clinic turns away an animal in distress? I was stressed and nearly at panic attack level and i was met with the most unfeeling cold hearted people i have ever seen. I will never recommend this place to anyone EVER. I will be contacting their office manager and i certainly expect an apology for the horriffic behavior the staff demonstrated. I took my dog to Companion Animal Hospital for her last three years of life and have the best things possible to say about this clinic. Dr. Goldthwaite helped my dog all the way through to the end, helping to keep her healthy and her pain managed in spite of various health conditions. It's a very professional facility and we also used it numerous times for boarding. They offer particularly affordable options for boarding compared to other places. Our eleven-year-old cat suddenly stopped eating a couple of weeks ago, and lost a lot of weight. Things were looking very scary. We took her to Companion, and they were amazing. They kept her on an i.v. for four days, and then her numbers were all dramatically improved. She's been home for a week, and was just rechecked. Numbers are still great! What a relief. Companion Animal Hospital is the best! They have been caring for our two rescue dogs, Button and Crash from nail trims to boarding, and cancer surgery. The staff at the front desk is always courteous and efficient, the vet techs know our dogs personalities and treat them like royalty. Dr. Goldthwaite (Crash and Button's primary vet) , Dr. Chan and Dr. French are truly caring and compassionate. After Button lost his battle with cancer, the staff took special effort to let us know how special he was. We can't recommend them highly enough! Read Less

A little odd... I was looking for a good place to take my dog for a check up when I saw the "great reviews" for this place. And as I started to read these so-called customer reviews, I noticed it's a little fishy that about 30 of the 33 reviews posted are EXACTLY 3 or 4 months ago, even though they've been open for like, what, 25 years? Not only that, but every SINGLE post opens with the same thing: "I've been going to *Companion Animal Hospital* for 5 years now" or "I have been taking my dog to *Companion Animal Hospital* for many years". It's always some form of this, and of course they almost always list the doctors name(s). And for the real give away - I checked these "long-time customers" supposed Google+ "profiles", and sure enough, the only review any of these people have EVER wrote was for Companion animal hospital... Not to mention their profiles are completely blank with no information what-so-ever, and to top it off, they all have names like "Lindsay Johnson", "Bob Smith" or "Angie Smith"... Not quite those exact names of course, but you get idea. FAKE FAKE FAKE! And if you're wondering why I took my time to even write a review like this, it's simply because I have been scammed, lied to, deceived, whatever you want to call it, by companies such as this one. They will post review after review to get their ratings up because the typical person will look at just the # of stars they have and base their decision solely on that. That's what I USED to do. Until I was sold a car and had that same cars transmission go out the very next day. It's situations like that which made me take a closer look (not without having to flip through 10 pages of fake reviews) to find the real posts which are of course filled with horrible stories of being lied to and cheated out of your money. So hopefully if anyone actually does take the time to read this, you don't have to learn the hard way which companies could give two sh*** about you.Read Less

This place is great. I have had two dogs that have seen the vets at Companion. I have been happy with the great care they gave my older dog who passed away and now our new dog. They listen to my concerns and offer useful advice on what we could do. I have also used the boarding on several occasions and both of my dogs were happy and healthy after each boarding experience.
