I took my cat in for a second opinion after several frustrating weeks of working with another vet to figure out why my cat is licking himself bald in one spot. Dr. Gawley was delightful, patient, and very thorough in her examination. She actually cuddled Fred on the exam table while she took notes about what’s been going on with him. After listening (yes, actually listening) to me and giving Fred a good exam that included an x-ray to rule out internal problems, she came up with a treatment plan that eased my anxiety and gave me a great deal of peace of mind. The vet techs who work for her are professional and friendly. The office is friendly and obviously focused on providing the best care for cats. Read Less

This clinic is one of few that I consider the best at caring for cats. The Vets are up to date, have mad skills at diagnosing and will ALWAYS do what is best for your cat. I have worked in the veterinary field in my past work history 14 years, and I can tell you that i trust this clinic with my cats lives. Over and over and over again. Yes there are a few quirks but over time those have faded away from my sight once I have seen the caring, loving and FANTASTIC work they do here. I also would vote this particular clinic as the most COMPASSIONATE cat clinic in WA state. You will never feel like they don't care about your cat, no matter how cute, friendly, stubborn, fractious, or scared! They see them all, and have developed many improvised ways of handling any of our cats :) Read Less

After reading the reviews of this place, especially from Yelp; it sure seems like I dodged a bullet. My initial thought upon entering this place was, "dirty, cluttered, disorganized, and gross". Turns out I'm not the only person to find this place dirty, disorganized and gross. I spent a couple hours here and should have gone with my gut instinct, but Barbara seems like she means well; however, I believe Dr. Gawley over-works her employees.... Couple red flags that others should be aware of and what kind of business they are supporting: 1. Dr. Gawley doesn't follow labor laws. Her employees are required to work 12 hours straight, sometimes with little to no break, days in a row; with horrible pay and zero incentives. 2. Dr. Gawley is extremely abrasive, unprofessional and condescending. She talks down to her entire staff and likes to leave passive aggressive notes to her team; I'm not surprised at all that she treats patients and their family's like pee-ons. Clearly this woman forgets who pays her bills. A medical license is only good when you're helping patients; and I don't foresee this place too much longer. 3. The back rooms and offices are extremely full of clutter. This place reminds me of an episode of HOARDERS. There is literally NO place to take a break, and being that the cats are allowed to run wherever they want; I wouldn't bother eating in the "kitchen". 4. All the rooms are cleaned with is peroxide, a quick, sweep; but items are never moved and doors never closed to PROPERLY clean the floors. Honestly, I highly recommend supporting another business where the doctor is more down-to-Earth, follows Labor Laws and is more professional. The 5 cats running around the front wasn't what bothered me, it was the fact that the healthy cats are allowed to run around the back with the cats that are needing medical attention, or the fact that there was a vet tech eating a banana in a space that had sterilized equipment, with the banana peel just thrown on the counter. But with no break room, I guess the employees are forced to eat wherever they can find space??? Overall this place is repulsive and is extremely outdated. The doctor is too cheap to pay her employees well, invest in modern equipment and modern tools so the front desk staff are working 5 times harder than they need to, and saves everything. I would never bring any of my pets, much less myself to this location again. Afficher la suite Read Less

Dr. Gawley is absolutely brilliant.  Our cat was diagnosed with small cell lymphoma.  The prognosis was not good - maybe 2 months.  Dr. Gawley was awesome - she recommended a great oncologist and immediately installed a feeding tube to help our cat gain desperately needed weight.  Her tube feeding recipe was full of vitamins and enzymes and even impressed the oncologist as the best he'd ever seen.  And it worked - our cat gained enough pounds to be able to start chemo treatments.  It was a little hard on him at first, but Dr. Gawley suggested giving him a smaller dose twice a week instead of one large dose once a week.  Perfect solution.  He was eating on his own, happy, playful, and could usually be found lying on his back in the middle of the living room floor.  They gave us two months; Dr. Gawley helped us get two more years with him - two more happy years.  I can't tell you how grateful I am to her for everything.  No one knows cats like she does.  No one. I took my cat to see Dr. Gawley after months of visiting other vets at another animal hospital who could not figure out what was wrong with my 9 year old male cat.  Cat Clinic at Canyon Park was recommended to me by a friend who had a similar experience - knowing something was wrong with their cat, but no vet they took him to could diagnose him properly.  My friend said that Dr. Gawley is House (the TV character) for cats.  I was told she might have a brusque bedside manner with humans, but her diagnostic skills with cats are out of this world.  My friend was absolutely correct.  I took my kitty to see her and we were there for a long time as Dr. G did a physical exam, asked a lot of detailed questions, did some research, asked more questions, did more research, and eventually suggested that my kitty had Cushing's Disease.  I thought there was no way he could have this illness - it's rare for cats to get it and it typically occurs in female cats, not males.  We did a blood test and it turned out that she was right.  Dr. Gawley broke this potentially fatal news to me gently - no abrasiveness at all - and she gave me as much information as she could find to help me make the best treatment decision for my furry baby.  Ultimately I elected for surgery, and that was performed two months ago by SVS in downtown Seattle.  After surgery she e-mailed me periodically to check on his recovery, and I'm so happy to say that my kitty is recovering very well.  We aren't quite out of the woods just yet; he has to undergo some more blood testing to make sure his hormone levels have evened out.  Dr. Gawley helped save my furry baby's life.  I will only take him to see her from now on. My cats have been patients of the Clinic for over eight years now.  Dr. Gawley is 100% a cat vet.  Although her bedside manner sometimes is abrasive, she is more knowledgeable about cat issues than many other vets I've used.  My husband formerly taught veterinary nursing, and in general approves of her knowledge.  Our only issue with Dr. Gawley has been over dental treatments.  We had an older cat adopted from a shelter who had mangled his teeth trying to escape from the rescue cage.  Dr. Gawley pulled all of his teeth, saying that they were "unbalanced" if she had left the intact teeth.  We fed the cat soft food after that, and he did not seem to be adversely effected by the treatment.  We are still taking our cat to Dr. Gawley, although my husband usually takes her.  The office chaos seems to depend upon how many vets there are present; I haven't had an issue when they are not busy.  I have taken my cat to Seattle Veterinary Specialists in Kirkland for emergent care, but after an hour my cat had not seen a vet, but they had provided a breakdown of how much it would cost me for various treatments.  The only examination was a vet's assistant relaying questions to and from the vet in some other part of the clinic.  I left without paying for their "service" and returned to Dr. Gawley, who was able to see her promptly without doing a credit check. I took my kitten to Dr. Gawley on the recommendation of the shelter I'd adopted him from a couple of months before. A recommendation from a shelter means a lot, because they deal with a lot of vets, and often have some very difficult injuries and conditions to treat. The shelter told me that Dr. Gawley had saved several cats that other vets couldn't diagnose or had given up on. I love the cat-friendly atmosphere and the clinic cats are clearly very well cared for, happy and loved. Unfortunately, my kitten was very sick - he had the dry form of FIP. Dr. Gawley is so knowledgeable, she could tell this right away, but examined him to make sure. She and her staff took great care of him for a few days while we were out of town, started him on an experimental treatment (at NO cost), and gave us updates. Dr. Gawley could not have been more wonderful through the whole thing. She explained everything thoroughly. Her staff answered questions and made sure we knew how to administer the treatment when we got back. We continued on the experimental treatment with high hopes, but after two weeks we realized he wasn't responding to the treatment and his condition was declining. We made the difficult decision to have our 8 month old kitten put to sleep. It is tough enough to have those conversations about a pet who has had a good lifetime and absolutely heartbreaking to have a quality of life discussion about a kitten who hasn't even been around a year. Dr. Gawley was very compassionate and most of all very concerned about our kitten. Honestly, that's what I want - someone who cares as much about my pet as I do and who will partner with me even when there are tough decisions to make. (If I need a counselor or bedside manner, I will go see a counselor for humans.)Once he was put to sleep, Dr. Gawley very lovingly picked our kitten up and put him in a box for burial. NO other vet has ever done that. She was clearly as sad about the situation as we were. Now, to address what some other reviewers have said: - Have we had to wait for appointments? Yes, like any other medical office, sometimes emergencies come up, or other people's pets take longer to treat than expected. When that's MY pet who needs more time, I appreciate it. When it isn't my pet, I remember when it has been mine and have some patience. - Bedside manner - reference my comment above. If I want / need a counselor, I will go to one. I don't expect my vet to be my counselor. I want them to take good care of my pet, first and foremost, and I want them to have the expertise in the best way to take care of them, which I believe Dr. Gawley absolutely does. Read Less

I have not had any difficulty getting questions answered by Dr. Gawley or the other staff members. They have been helpful both in person and on the phone. Also, the prices were reasonable, much less than a prior clinic I went to when I lived in Seattle.  On the negative side this clinic seems a bit disorganized. I was here once when another person was going to have to put his cat down and the conversation was started out in the lobby instead of a private room. I took my cat to this clinic because she seemed to have a difficult time eating and when I brought her in, the receptionist seemed rather scatterbrained and even a little rude and didn't mention having to leave the cat overnight (which led to some frustrstion and more charges).  The vet called that night at around 9pm, said she had cracked teeth and needed several removed but wasn't going to work because she had a higher than normal temperature.Next day comes by come 4pm the vet still hasn't checked on her again and wanted to hold her for another night for even more cash.  I decided at this point I was already plenty annoyed by them and pulled my cat out of the office and got charged shy of $400 for whole process which DID NOTHING for helping my cat with any of her issues.  Dr. G's bedside manner was more lacking.  I strongly got the sense her clients were no more than a check for her and thought she was trying to get more money from me.I have no idea what happened while there but when I got my cat back she was obviously traumatized and acted very strange and scared for days.I was HIGHLY dissatisfied with my experience there and I would highly suggest NOT going here. Dr. Paschal was who we took our cats to at this clinic, and we refused to see Dr. Gawley. When I last called to make an appointment for a check up, I learned that Dr. Paschal had left the clinic. I was forced to make an appointment with Dr. Gawley, which I figured would be okay just because it was a check up.I arrived with my cat, and the receptionist (Barbara, I think) seems to be very scatter brained, doesn't explain anything and isn't helpful. Our appointment was at 11, but we weren't called into the office until 11:45. 45 minutes is a long time to wait when you have an anxious and stressed cat meowing. So we finally get into the check up room, Dr. Gawley starts off  "Sorry that took so long, those people before you would not shut up!" That's nice to say of your paying customers who were probably just concerned about their cat! At this point she has not made eye contact nor greeted us in any other way.I open the cat carrier door and my kitty doesn't want to come out, understandably. Dr. Gawley simply picks up the carrier and dumps my cat out. At this point I was thinking, its okay if I were to do that to my cat, but definitely not okay for you to do that! With her eyes looking onto the table, she asks why we came in, and I said check up/vaccinations/nail clipping. No response, and she proceeds to go through the regular check up. At this point, we can hear the receptionist in the front who is on the phone with a seemingly irate customer, as she is saying something about how the Dr. did indeed call the client back and left a voicemail etc. I thought nothing of it until Dr. Gawley started muttering under her breath about that customer, asking "who the eff doesn't check their voicemails, do I have to give everyone a tutorial on how to check them?!" Uhhh..I tried to talk to her about my concerns that I had for my baby, teeth cleaning, loneliness, eating habits. etc. but her only response to the multiple concerns was "it's typical of aging cats to only want to eat wet food". No explanation, no addressing other issues, that's IT. After she weighs my kitty, she walks out with no word, and after a few seconds I can hear her clearly yelling and swearing about the customer and how it's not her fault that the customer didn't check his voicemails. Then she comes back with a syringe. She doesn't explain to me what the vaccination is or if my kitty will be sore or anything after it. I try to ask again about loneliness, and she hands me a pamphlet for this product and says I should look into it, as she is walking out the door. I stand there for a few minutes before I realize that the appointment is over, and she isn't coming back in. I put my kitty back into her carrier and walk out to the front to pay a god awful amount of money for the worst, most unprofessional service I have ever received. Looking back on it, I should have refused to pay. Needless to say, Dr. Paschal left for a reason, and we will never be going back to this clinic again, and I will recommend to anyone who has cats to avoid this place like the plague. Read Less

The owners have several of their own cats free roaming inside the clinic. My cat isn't used to this so she was unnecessarily frustrated/agitated from the strong cat smell in addition being sick :( I also questioned the cleanliness of a clinic with free roaming pets.I also agree that customer service is sub-par. I wasn't greeted very kindly when I returned to pickup medication. It was also strange that I was told to call back the clinic to hear the results of my cat's blood and urine tests without knowing when they'd be ready! I would expect someone at the clinic would take the time to call me :(The doctor was very knowledgeable and kind to my cat but had poor bedside manner - I feel she was more comfortable talking to cats than people. She'd avoid eye contact as much as possible and sometimes just leave the consultation room while talking without saying where she was going or when she'd be back. I nearly thought our consultation was complete the first time she hastened out. Very strange socially.I'd rather find a cleaner clinic with better customer service. Sorry Cat Clinic! Low cost and the FIRST treatment she provided brought results. My cat is healthier than he has been in years, and I wish I had saved my time and money and come here a long time ago. Reading the other reviews here, I have to believe that not only do mistakes happen- we're all human- but an uneducated person can strongly misconstrue a situation that may have been medically inexplicable. It's just not possible to ""cook"" a cat's internal organs with a heating pad. After the wonderful treatment my cat- and I- recieved at this clinic, I'm surprised at any negative reviews. In addition to the vet, the rest of the staff was fantastic. The front desk gal was cheerful, pleasant and helpful; the kennel? staff I encountered made a point to greet me; the techs were knowledgable and friendly, and I felt warmly welcomed and appreciated. I would recommend this clinic to ANYONE that cares about their cat. Read Less

Brought my Mau in for eye issues. Front desk was pleasant and happy. (Different person than last time and much improved.) Dr. Gawley was very good with my skittish Mau. Listened to what I had to say. Made sure that my cat was fine. She was very busy, dealing with several cats at once at the end of the day. But, gave my cat all of the attention he needed and looked into one concerning matter. My cat was the last patient of the day and, at the end, the doctor sort of forgot about me but I'm going to chalk that up to a long day. When I asked if I could go, the front desk lass apologized for the inconvenience and made sure to get my insurance forms filled out. Follow up call was handled very quickly and professionally. I've read all of the other reviews here, and am flabbergasted that anyone could EVER have anything bad to say about these two docs. This is my experience with The Cat Clinic: I have a kitty with recurring ear infections/inflammation. Through the years, I've taken him to about 6 different vets to try and get this very uncomfortable condition under control for him. It wasn't until I brought Kenny to the C.C. that anyone had any inkling of what could be causing this to come back so often. Dr. Good was SO careful with Ken. She discovered a heart murmur that no one ever had, and because Ken needs to be ""knocked out"" when his ears need deep cleaning, she wanted to be sure that it would be safe to do so. She was unwilling to put him at risk. She's patient, thorough, kind, brilliant and I trust her completely with my beloved cats. Also, when my lovely Mufasa suffered a stroke, and his quality of life was diminished, Dr. Good helped me (by giving me ALL the info I needed, looking at all sides, considering what was best for Mu) make that very, very difficult decision to put him to rest. She was silently supportive, and I could see that she was feeling my grief. Sincerely, and completely. She cares like NO other vet I have ever experienced. You can't BUY that sort of compassion. Dr. Gawley is indeed eccentric. ECCENTRIC, people, not uncaring. I know the ""briskness"" that you're referring to, but I see it as a woman with a lot of cats to care for and a lot of info in her head to impart. She's busy thinking about what's best for your animal. What do you want? Medical skills to save your animal? Or some elegant speaker to serve you tea and prop your pillow? Cut them some slack, people! Things, unexplainable things happen during/after surgeries. Cats cannot tell us what they are feeling/experiencing. Thank God Dr.s G & G are here to act as my cat's advocate. I would go to bat for these two docs any day, as well as their staff. Read Less

I question the capabilities of this veterinary office because they k;lled my mom's cat this week by cooking her to death. After the cat's teeth were cleaned they placed her on a heating pad that was set too high and basically cooked all of her organ's. This didn't k;ll this sweet cat right away either. She suffered for almost two full days before dying. DON'T EVER TAKE YOUR CATS HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT THEM!!!!!! I am so upset and sickened by this words can't even begin to explain how I feel. I know that the vet is upset about it but there comes a point when you have to be accountable for things like this. I am just so heart broken, and I barely spent any time with the kitty, so just imagine how my mom feels about this. Everytime I talk to her she starts bawling. RIP Lil Bit. Read Less

Dr. Good at Cat Clinic has been my vet of choice for many years. In fact, I took my cat to her in Kirkland even before Cat Clinic was started. Both she and Dr. Gawley are both wonderful and have a deep love of cats. Their prices are very reasonable and the care is excellent. When my cat companion of 13 years had a series of strokes and had to be put to sleep, Dr. Good stayed late after closing to wait for me to get there. She was very kind and gentle throughout the ordeal. She then made a paw print of my darling cat in clay, shaped it into a large medallion, baked and painted it and gave it to me a few days later. That was two years ago. She has seen the two new cat companions I adopted this year. She was very good with them and they seemed to like her very much. Cat clinic also provides adoption services and boarding. Who better to board my cats with than their veterinarian? Whenever I go out of town, I feel completely satisfied that my kitties will be safe and well-cared-for. Also, despite what another reviewer said, the woman at the reception desk is very nice and friendly. She can get exceptionally busy, but handles it all quite well. Read Less

She was giving him all sorts of unauthroized (by ME) medications and such. I was very irritated!!! Also, my appointment that should have taken 20 minutes, took and HOUR AND A HALF! The big front desk woman was SO RUDE as well, not only on the phone but in person too! She calls everyone "hunny" which I see as disrespectul and very unprofessional. When I took in my cat that was dying, I didnt even recieve any special attention. it still took almost 2 hours to be seen!!! it was recommended to me by 2 different people and the fact that it only allows cats sounded great to me. we have been in for 2 different exams and also to have some of our cat's teeth removed. the oral surgery seemed to go well.after many disappointing experiences we are leaving the cat clinic. the first thing that struck me with this clinic was that the usual front desk lady (i think her name is jody) has HORRIBLE customer service skills. she will just go off and talk to co-workers in the back, leaving patients waiting to check-in and out. the 4-5 times I have called she has put me on hold for 5 minutes before even hearing the reason for my call. I hang up after 5 minutes and call back, so who knows how long she would let me patiently wait on hold. she told me they lost all of our cat's records at my last appointment, but the vet. said they were right where they should have been. i am also not certain that their rooms get sanitized between each cat - our cat got a horrible upper respiratory infection the day after he came home from his last visit! i was given plenty of time to look around while waiting for 30 minutes in our exam room during the middle of our appointment that ended up lasting 2 hours! of course, i was also taken back to the room late. when i called to tell them our cat had gotten very sick jody said, ""oh, that is no big deal. it happens all the time because the cats are so stressed when they come to the vet. he probably has herpes, we can give you a prescription for lysine"" WOW! she could care less about the fact they got my cat sick! that is not the type of vet i want to be going to! our cat has never gotten sick after visiting a vet and i'm sure he was more stressed at other vets with dogs looking at him from outside his carrier. i would highly suggest looking for a vet elsewhere. The first time you do anything, you hope to have a good experience. Our first time taking our kitten to the vet was challenging. Cat Clinic was conveniently located and specialized in cat's.... a logical place to take our baby. The Vets there are incredibly knowlegdeable, but they need to do something about their customer service personnel up front. Everytime I go there, I have to sit and wait for 10-20 minutes before I am acknowledged!! And its not just me, others are waiting patiently while the front desk help is tied up on the phone, arguing with phone customers. One lady, the blonde with glasses (pleasantly plump) must have rough days... everday. She is always short with her words and listens to nothing you say. If you are researching vets for a pleasant experience, I wouldn't recommend Cat Clinic. We will not be taking our cat there again. Comparison - Eating at a small crowded restaurant with pretty good food, but you have to wait 20 or so minutes to be helped... and when you are, your treated like your a nobody.... just another customer. I would never recommend anyone to take there cats here. My cat had a leg fracture. The lady at the front counter is always in a sour pissssy mood, and on the second splint change, she ended up with a huge swollen foot. I was a little suprised of no discharge instructions either. The Dr was not sympathetic and said to me ""It just happens"". The new vet I took my cat too said he never has to much of the foot sticking out of the bandage, so that the paw will not swell. Just the tip toes sticking out of the wrap. Our cat's foot was swollen twice the size, and I had to take her to the ER Vet. Even when my new vet called the Cat Clinic in Bothell today for records, they said the front counter lady was very rude. Never take your cats here. The customer service suks and this tells me how they care for animals. Customer/Pet service is number one and this clinic rates zero on my list. Read Less

Read Less

My beloved cat, Lily, has been going to Dr. Gawley for over six years and has had two successful operations there as well as regular visits. Dr. Gawley has always been so kind and caring with her. Two weeks ago I had to make an appointment to have Lily put to sleep. I was dreading the process but, even though it was extremely hard for me to say goodbye to my furry friend of almost 19 years, Dr. Gawley made it a peaceful experience for both of us. Yesterday I picked up her ashes housed in a beautiful small jar along with paw prints. All were marked with Lily's name. When it is time to get another furry friend, I will certainly go back to Dr. Gawley as I know that my new cat will be treated well. Read Less

I adopted my cats from this clinic and they are now 10 and 11.  The 10 yr old was constantly having problems.  Sinus infections, runny nose, bad breath.  Dr Gawley recommended the tiny teeth top and bottom in the front be removed.  Success!  He has not had any issues since. My twin tuxedo cats have had problems over the years and Dr Gawley has been helping us get them healthy again.  She even called me to check up on them as she was leaving on a 2 week vacation. The clinic is very clean, no smell (as someone posted). There are numerous cats on site which makes it even more fun while waiting.  What's a cat clinic without lots of cats?Barbara at the front desk is lovely and remembers my cats each time I need to visit. Read Less

Dr. Gawley is very knowledgeable, I trust her judgment, I can be a difficult customer but she cited sources to back up her diagnosis and treatment plan. Overall, I intend to keep taking my cats here for annual check ups and anything else that comes up. Read Less

DO NOT USE THIS VET! My first check up went fine and the vet recommended teeth cleaning to take care of some of the tarter build up. They discovered they needed to pull a tooth while cleaning. Two days later I was at the emergency clinic because during surgery they POKED A HOLE IN HER THROAT when putting in or removing the air tube! So air leaked in under her skin and it felt like a cross between bubble wrap and jello when i pet her and sounded like tissue paper. They never warned me this was a risk. They were careless and could have killed her had it reached her lungs. I was lucky. Also spent $600 between the surgery and the emergency clinic. Your cat may not be so lucky. After several other vets were unable to properly diagnose and treat my cat's weight loss, I brought him to Dr. Gawley on a friend's recommendation. She was amazing. Read Less

Whenever I go out of town, I feel completely satisfied that my kitties will be safe and well-cared-for. it was recommended to me by 2 different people and the fact that it only allows cats sounded great to me. we have been in for 2 different exams and also to have some of our cat's teeth removed. the oral surgery seemed to go well.after many disappointing experiences we are leaving the cat clinic. the first thing that struck me with this clinic was that the usual front desk lady (i think her name is jody) has HORRIBLE customer service skills. she will just go off and talk to co-workers in the back, leaving patients waiting to check-in and out. the 4-5 times I have called she has put me on hold for 5 minutes before even hearing the reason for my call. Just the tip toes sticking out of the wrap. Our cat's foot was swollen twice the size, and I had to take her to the ER Vet.
