My dog, Indiana, has been a patient of Dr. Smalley's since 2007. I followed Dr. Smalley from Northgate Vet to the Everett Clinic. Dr. Smalley has a great manner in explaining things, taking time to answer questions and he never made me feel pressured into any choices. As my dog aged, he offered recommendations, and commonly shared some of his personal pet experiences for insight too. I hands down trust Dr. Smalley with any of my animals. Recently I had to call in to "book" an euthanasia. First off, this is one of the worst appointments you can make as a pet owner. Heike took my call and handled it well. She listened to me blabber through my tears, allowed me lots of time to pause and regain my composure. She explained my options, and had to explain that my beloved Dr. Smalley was out of town. She did offer that Dr. Ryan Black (who I never saw with Indy, but did see around the office) was available and he could help me. She said that some schedule shuffling needed to be made, and she would call me back with a confirmation - and she actually called me back! She didn't upsell me on anything I didn't already want, and she allowed me to ask about paying for everything before the procedure was done. Her not asking about payment right off the bat made me feel like getting my pet care was just a bit more important than the bottom line. Fast forward to the appointment. I may have well booked personal time with Dr. Black and Jess, the vet tech. It's not like they were in a hot rush to get it done with. They took time to talk to me, to visit with Indy some, and even to allow me time to give Indy some extra marshmallows. They answered every question I asked, even the crazy ones. They allowed me to tell stories about Indy, and Indy blabber until I realized it was time...After my dear pup's heart stopped beating, they prepared to take him away. Jess took one last marshmallow and put it along side Indy. One more for the road. As horrible of a situation as putting your pet to sleep can be, I can only write that Dr. Black and Jess made it the most peaceful experience I could have ever asked for. When I get a new pup, I can assure you I will put it in the care of this vet clinic in a heartbeat. Until then, I thank them all for their diligent and respectful service to my Indiana. Read Less
