Before I took Lilly (my Bernese Mountain Dog) to VCA, I first rushed her to Diamond Vet in Everett. I had a HORRIBLE experience here!! I walk in with Lilly, tell them what's going on, they get us into a room. I fill out the paperwork. 10 minutes pass, no one has come into the room yet to talk with us. I stick my head out and say, "please! Can someone help soon? She's in a lot of pain". There's no one else in the waiting room. Receptionist responds that a tech is coming into the room right now. A couple minutes later, the tech appears. I explain to her that Lilly is in a ton of pain, she's whimpering and panicking. I explain that she has had TPLO twice and she's acting so much more painful today than when she had her surgeries. I also explain that she has pet insurance and that money isn't an issue. The tech says okay. She says she must print out the estimate of Lilly's treatment and bring it to me to sign. She says she'll talk to the vet. The vet comes in a few minutes later, exams Lilly, I explain everything again. I tell them Lilly is NOT going to tolerate being touched to shave the huge wound, it's too painful. I request they sedate her. She leaves and a few minutes later the tech comes back in. The tech states that the vet wants to do blood work before putting Lilly under any anesthesia to make sure she is healthy enough. I state no, I do not want to wait for blood work results for her to be treated! She is miserable now and needs help. I also say she was under anesthesia a ton last year with no issues. The tech is obviously annoyed with me and leaves to check with the vet to see if that's okay. At this point, it's been 40 minutes and Lilly has gotten no pain medication, NOTHING. She's getting worse, can't hold still, whimpering. My heart is breaking for her. The tech walks back in and says that an emergency case just came in and she can't do anything for Lilly until that patient is taken care of. I'm furious at this point. I would have been totally fine had they given her a shot of pain meds or SOMETHING to help her out while we wait. But nothing was given. I grabbed Lilly and stormed out with my boyfriend. I feel like I wasn't taken seriously AT ALL! I know my damn dog. I had explained to both of them that when Lilly had a broken leg from TPLO, she jumped a 3 foot fence like it was nothing, without a whimper. She has a high pain tolerance and she's hit her threshold. ****** We ended up taking her to VCA in Lynnwood. There, they took Lilly back IMMEDIATELY before I even signed paperwork. They gave her pain meds, acepromozine, shaved her, then gave her a steroid shot and antihistamines once they cleaned and examined the huge wound. VCA put Lilly's needs first. Diamond Vet put the fear of being sued first, by having me hop through all the "proper steps" before treating her. Needless to say, I will never be supporting this emergency clinic again. Go to VCA instead!Read Less
