We worked with Dr. K for multiple issues with our multiple pets over the course of 15 years. He and his helpful, caring, wonderful staff always went above and beyond to help us find affordable solutions for every issue, from a dog accidentally ingesting poison, to taking care of some other long term problems with two of our dogs to compassionately standing with us when we had to put one down. Dr. K has been seeing our pets for several years. Night before last our dog got hit by a car. We had to take him to an emergency Vet that's open 24 hours. That did us absolutely no good because that gave us a $2000.00 dollar estimate just to see him through the night. You have to pay up front. We had to leave and watch him over night. It was $300.00 just to walk through their doors and find out nothing. We were devistated. He made it through the night and Dr. K got him in first thing in the morning. It was a Monday and he was already very busy. Dr. K used to be an emergency very. He did what needed to be done to care for our dog and save him. My dog had a vet appointment just over two weeks ago. The doctor and assistant were great. The front desk lady Jovanna was so rude. Busy on her cellphone. I asked her to update my last name and book me for two weeks out like the doctor asked. No courtesy calls before appointments so I didn't know she made a mistake. My husband showed up to bring our dog in and she was so rude to him. She rolled her eyes at him as he walked in because her conversation with another woman was in interrupted. Then she said so rude to my husband that he was at the wrong location and there is no appointment. He came home and told me what he experienced. He being a firefighter is a kind person and never should have been treated that way. I called and Jovanna answered. I told her my husband came in and was turned away she was so rude to me in her tone and said she doesn't have us on the books. I told her to check again. She said oh I have you under a different last name (she didn't update as asked from last appointment). She said the appointment was a week before. I said no, the doctor said to come back in two weeks. Today is two weeks. You wrote it down. She said so rudely well we can make another appointment. She wouldn't let me talk to anyone else. I will be calling Monday or showing up to talk with someone besides this rude, no customer service lady. Read Less

I ran my almost dead kitten into this office 11 years ago and I have been taking my baby Boo Bear there ever since. Doc Koenig and Jovahanna and Kirsten are the BEST! Doc Koenig wrote "Great Cat" on Boo's file. He is patient and kind. He gives his own shots and does things the techs usually take care of. Boo is a Maine Coon and he never gets scared when we go there for visits. I would NEVER take any animal of mine ANYWHERE else! I left this place feeling very disturbed and shaken. I went to check in on my neighbor's family dog who had surgery here. The vet diagnosed him with stones without really even knowing if he did or not have them and did surgery. It was a guesswork procedure on an old dog. When I saw the dog, he looked terrible laying in a bloody blanket. I heard a meow, looked up and the top row of cages were filled with cats who were IN their cat carriers INSIDE of the cage What? I've never seen anything like it. It was midday and there is no excuse for all of the cats to be sitting in their carriers. Cruel? Yes. The receptionist was just sitting there in an empty office and I had to ask her to change the bloody blanket. She said "Yeah, I just changed it 2 hours ago." So? Change it again! I was fairly satisfied with my visit here. The doctor and receptionist were both very nice and attentive people. I went in for my cat's yearly check up, a couple of vaccines, and a fecal exam. Pricing was very reasonable, I actually ended up paying a few dollars less than what I was quoted. The only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five is because I was not satisfied with the examination. I just felt that it was not very thorough. All the doctor really did was weigh him and listen to his heart beat. For a $48 exam, I felt that he should've been doing more. The vet that I took my cat to before Everett Veterinary Hospital looked/felt all over my cat, checked his teeth, etc. Anyways, that's the only complaint I had, otherwise my visit was perfectly lovely. Pros: Both doctors love my dog. Help fixed his diarrhea issue :) Some vet services like the teeth cleaning were pretty affordable. Jessica especially loved my cat and dog but she has now moved:( New techs are ok. Cons: This is such an old school clinic. Doctor Koenig especially need to be up to date with stuff. Took my cat to the vet for weight loss, did some blood work and feline leukemia test and told us everything looks normal. Didn't even know he was anemic when specialist detected that in minutes. Prescribed prescription food and vitamins but nothing helped. Turned out our cat had multiple cancers and died within a month after his check up on August. Also please do estimates before doing work so there are no surprises for us pet parents and offer a referal if you have no idea on what is wrong with the animal. Please go to a different vet if you can but if you can't my recommendation is first get insured, second do yearly blood work for apparently cats/dogs can hide their diseases and three always weigh your pet once a month. Dr. Tom Koenig is greatMy mother and I took my boxer in for a scratch on his eye that has been bothering him. We are both in a tight spot and could not afford what a visit would normally cost. The biggest reason I appreciate this office is that I didn't feel discriminated against because of my dog's breed. Whether it's the park or another vet, I have always struggled in public when people learn the breed of my dog. I was hesitant to tell Dr. Koenig what kind of dog I had because he could not tell by looking.I expected the typical shock response I get, but he and his staff were not concerned at all and loved her! She is extremely sweet and gets very excited which some people take the wrong way- like she's out of control.My parents have taken our family pets here since I was a child. Sadly, we had to take 2 of them here due to old age.I wasn't exactly "wowed" by the experiences, but this is a place I don't have to worry about being discriminated against with my dog which is rare, so I continue to go. Today we brought in our 16 year old Beagle to be put down to sleep. From the moment we checked it was a wonderful experience. Staff and Doctor were great, very compassionate, and respectful. Dr. Koenig is the kind of vet every pet owner dreams of getting. He's very caring and compassionate. I have nothing but good things to say about this clinic. I have been to many vets in Las Vegas and three in Everett and this is the best clinic I've ever been to. The entire staff has been wonderful. Everyone I've come into contact with has been kind and caring. Taking your pet to the vet is never a good experience, but they show so much care toward me and my cat. I am low income at the moment, and I have never felt taken advantage of, quite the opposite. It feels Dr. Koenig has gone out of his way to do the sort of tests and procedures I can afford in my situation and makes sure to give me estimates, while still taking great care of my fur baby. This place is absolutely awful. The guy is a total jerk and that's putting it nicely. His staff isn't much better either.  About four months ago I had to put my sixteen year old cat to sleep, and even though she was dying and weak they treated her as if she was a ferocious lion. The assistant (the one I usually saw in the mornings) grabbed hold of her skin and yanked her out of her bed so roughly, I almost jumped up and left. She continued to handle her roughly and flipped her over like she was a toy. When they finally gave her the shot, doctor Konig went on to say that she's happier now and blah blah blah...uh yeah now that she isn't being abused. I was especially appalled when the assitant came back IN with a plastic bag and just scooped her in there. I paid my bill and left, not saying much. I will not be returning here EVER. Read Less

I wanted to find a new place close to home to try. I took my almost 13 year old dog for a checkup. He has had a crystal in his bladder and been on prescription diet.We saw doctor Koenig. But I had to call just now to ask who I saw- I was never introduced. Only first thing looked at weird. My dog has all his mostly shaved but his head has a Mohawk. I have some tattoos. He made some comments under his breath about the Mohawk and tattoos go together or something.I'm not here to be examined and I deserve every bit of respect as anyone else. It didn't stop there...I told him about crystal. He showed me some he took out of a dog which was nice, tried to explain a little. I made a comment like it is hard to know what to do talking to my last vet who told me the two options- surgery for over 1,000 that could be dangerous especially at his old age or to keep him on prescription diet and see how he does. He made a comment and said- who's bladder is it in?He continued the rest of the visit to talk to me like I'm too young and dumb to understand anything. Had no respectful tone for me and looked at me in a roll his eyes kind of way. I had other questions like if he possibly has worms because he will constantly hit his bowl for more food lately. He shrugged his shoulders and went back to the bladder and said- who knows but you have bigger problems. Yes I understand it is a bigger problem. I have put blood, sweat, and tears, money over his bladder. His prescription dog food and X-rays where not cheap. But since all that, he has been doing great. I'm not saying he's completely fine and better but that is why I took him for this checkup. I didn't really get any new help or info out of this guy I wanted/needed to know. Just talked down on and treated like a freak because of my looks I guess? Ladies at front desk and his assistant where very nice and LOVED his mohawk. No, I would never take my dog here again. I also wonder if the negative reviews are confused about the place. Anyway, here's my experience: Had a dog with severe congestive heart failure. Needed to put her to sleep, so she wouldn't suffer. After talking with several other places, who all wanted to do numerous expensive tests/procedures, I reach EVH. The doctor and tech were empathetic and professional and the price was quite a bit lower than the other places I checked. The facilities we plain, but very clean and neatly kept. If we get a dog again, this will be our vet and probably our boarding spot as well. Read Less

Dr. K has been our Vet for Many Many Years and I wouldn't of had it any other way. When I lost my dog due to age(17) I have never seen such kindness from Dr.K and his staff. I never got a bill he told me he would take care of everything and he did, So much more than he should have. I trust him with all my heart and would do anything he recommended. I have never ever felt he didn't care or gave me less than what I paid for. I don't know how his clinic makes money due to all the services he does give and alot of times at no charge. I'll never take an animal there again. I've been there twice, and once was a lackluster visit with a vet they let go, who did nothing but suggest blue green algae for limping, the other was an outright disaster that left my animal limping worse than when I started out. The front staff, and gals that worked there were very nice. I called because I am new to the area, and someone recommended Dr. Koenig to me. The receptionist was kind, and got me in really quickly, so my husband and I took our cat in. My cat has some sort of injury, or something happening. He's old, and we were terrified of what might be going on with him. We got him in the car, and took him straight in. Everything was great with the staff, and the Dr. Koenig came in. Of course, my cat was not limping at that exact moment. Just like when you take a toddler in to the pediatrician. :)I tried to help with my cat, because he's huge, and can make noise like all hell when upset and not in my or my husbands hands. I tried to explain that, but Dr. Koenig told me to sit in a chair. I did. I assumed he knew what he was doing, and I trusted him to that. My cat gave a yowl. He does that more often than an actual meow on a normal day. Dr. Koenig backed off immediately, and told his assistant to go get the gloves and stuff. My cat has never had a problem with an exam before. By anyone. Hell, we have a picture of my cat with a full can of pepsi sitting on him because he's pretty easy going. The gal comes back with giant gardening gloves, a muzzle, two leashes, and they go back to my cat. The assistant looked hesitant during this, but the doc acted like my cat was some sort of five star disaster before he hardly began. I work with dementia patients, and if I don't know if it's the same for animals, but if I approached my patients so aggressively and brusquely, then they would have freaked. He manhandled my cat into a hood, then flipped him on the side, and tried to haul his foot out. My cat screamed, and howled. I've never heard him make noises like that before. They then wrapped my cat in a towel, and the doc kept trying to yank my cats foot straight. The doc got frustrated, and kept saying, "He's not going to let me examine him. There's nothing I can do." He was frustrated with the way it was going down. Meanwhile I am listening to my cat howl in pain. The doc gave him a cortisone shot. My cat howled again, and the doc said, "Oh, that didn't hurt him at all." I'm a nurse. Those shots hurt, if you've ever had them, you'll know what I'm talking about. He also assured me that there are absolutely no side effects to cortisone shots in cats. I don't know if that's true or not. My cat calmed as soon as they unwrapped him, and he was able to smell my husband and I. When we got him home, he was limping worse than he was when we started. We called back immediately, at 1500 to ask if that could be an effect of the cortisone shot. No call back. We called back at 5:40pm, they close at 6pm, and the gal on the phone said she chased the doc out the door, but he had gone. Now I have a cat, that's hurt. No diagnosis, no anything. I have to take him to another vet, now. I am scared this will have freaked him out so bad he'll never let another vet examine him easily again. I'll never go back. I got the impression the vet was pressed for time, and my cat got the brunt of it. I'm not beating myself up for even letting it happen.EDIT TO ADD:The vet called back the next afternoon. All calls were ignored until then. When told my cat was worse, he said that's not a big deal, and that's normal. We found out through other sources that my cat has an injured foot. The same foot Dr. Koenig had been hauling on to force my cat to straighten his leg. This is why my cat was more hurt after seeing the guy. It took days for my cat to stop limping. I've been recommended to go to Diamond vet, or Pilchuck animal hospital, since this incident. I sure won't ever take an animal back the Dr. Koenig again. Read Less

Once again a vet who is interested in doing expensive labs and visits for an animal without any change in her health status, to get her prescription for her thyroid medicine she has been on ALL HER LIFE for 11 years.........We have seen Dr. Koening for almost 3 years now and every time it is a battle again to get the prescription filled without him wanting to see the dog and run tests! Without any changes in the dog warranting such exams! As a doctor myself I smell a mouce when I see it! I understand Vets need to make a living too, but this is taking advantage of the ignorance and wallet of less experienced and trusting pet owners. Once a year exam should suffice unless there are changes in the animal's health, which has never been the case. My cat has a heart murmur and he is the one that has diagnosed it and has helped me along the way with preventive stuff to look for and to give her. He will do his best to help you. After taking my animals there for years I recommend him to everyone who needs a vet. Perhaps the first reviewer went to another animal hospital in Everett, also on Broadway, that is further north. My family has been going to see Dr. Koenig for about 14 years now. He has treated two cocker spaniels, several cats, a great dane and three basset hounds. Our pets love him and he is very helpful always doing FULL checkups. I don't recall ever walking out of there thinking I had been ripped off or not listened to. We have been taking our lab to Dr. Koenig for the last 6 years and have been extremely pleased with the care our dog has rec'd. I personally know that Dr. Koenig usually has 1-2 dogs, several cats, rabbits, sheep, etc. So you might say that he often takes his work home with him. I also know that Everett Veterinary Clinic is often the dumping ground for pets some owners no longer care for. Dr. Koenig and his staff go out of their way to find homes for these animals. I don't know what clinic the other guy went to, but buddy, you couldn't be more wrong. We will continue to go to Everett Vet. Hospital. It's the one my dog prefers! Read Less

I have been a customer of Dr. Koenig for years. He has treated my dogs and many cats with gentle professional care and has shown not only my animals great respect but my family. He is a veterinarian who truly loves animals. I know of several customers who not only are repeat customers but drive from Seattle, some over bridges and take ferries to bring their dogs to him. The word has spread from one customer to the next that Dr. Koenig is a great veterinarian. He has constantly upgraded his clinic, kennels and equipment to better serve his animal clients. Boarding facilities have recently been upgraded and are clean, warm and cooler in the summer. I know many animals have been dumped on his doorstep and he has taken care of the injured and found homes for them. I have the greatest respect for him and his staff. Read Less

I have been so unhappy with this veterinarian. He is not knowledgeable about dogs at all. He even seems afraid of them! He is arrogant, mean, and doesn't answer questions thoroughly. He even seems prejudice against dogs. He left us feeling like we were unsure of directions from him and he did not do a thorough exam. Did not check for fleas, did not weigh the dog or check nose or ears. This vet is a really pompous guy who seems more interested in talking about himself than helping you with your animal. All three times I brought my dog to him I walked away feeling unclear, not listened to, and frustrated. The only thing that brought me back was having established a history with the hospital (I brought me newly adopted dog there for her first round of shots, etc) and the really friendly/helpful office staff. During one appointment the vet tech and I actually shared rolling eyes over this guy as he had a great time listening to himself talk about his phillosophy on something that had nothing to do with my dog.
