We have brought our animals here for years. Unfortunately, we recently lost our cat who has been with us for 19 years. They made us and our cat as comfortable as possible on a very heartbreaking day. They were gentle and considerate about our wishes and even sent us a print of his paw in the mail a few days later. FB reminded me today that a year ago we gave up on Brookside. One of our dogs had recently spent 2 days at VCA emergency hospital in Silverdale. Brookside was our primary vet but they were too busy to help. Later we were running low on meds and we asked Brookside to help. Left a message for the Vet but they never responded. Called multiple times over the next 2 days and finally went back to VCA for the refill. We never went back to Brookside. If you have some common low priority issue they’re okay but if you have a life critical issue they don’t care. Read Less

First visit was yesterday for my 10 yr old doxie that can have an attitude....The entire staff that i had contact with were extremely pleasant and helpful.My doxie had no issues with them even though they were poking him everywhere but they were so gentle about it it was like he was enjoying it. thanks for sending me to the pet service spoiled pets, amazing people and took care of our two dogs like they were their own. Gone for 2 and a half weeks. The dogs loved being in their own environment and didn't take them long to adjust to us being home. They were not traumatized by having to leave their home. If I could give this clinic 10 stars I would. Their customer service is amazing, every single person I have dealt with is professional and kind, and has a genuine love of animals. I am so glad I found Dr. Lisa and her staff at Brookside. I didn't know what I was going to do when The Country Vet closed it's doors in Belfair and Dr. Dave Marion moved to Idaho. I have found the kind of atmosphere and caring I learned to love and appreciate with Brookside. A vet clinic with that down home country feeling and true love of animals of all kinds big or small. The Dr was very helpful and knowledgeable about my puppies that were born c cection on the 2nd, gave me advice on how to get olive to produce more milk to feed the babies. Can't believe I haven't reviewed them yet! I've been bringing my dogs to Brookside for 14 years now. They've been with us through the loss of a dog, and they shared my heartbreak and made it so much more bearable. I love the caring staff, and their easy-going nature. Going to the vet is stressful for pets and parents, even in the best of circumstances. Having a friendly and well-run office really helps.My sweet baby dog who turns a year old this month has been going to Brookside since he was 8 weeks old. they love on him, love seeing him, and are very gentle with him. I had been taking my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel to Brookside for about 5 years. She was diabetic and in a very tenuous medical situation. We had an established relationship (I thought). When she deteriorated on the weekend of Labor Day, we called them and were told that they couldn't see her because they had "other quality of life cases" to see who had appointments. They shuffled us to an emergency clinic where we had never been to before. Long story short, she had to be euthanized. We never thought we would be abandoned in our greatest hour of need. Boy were we wrong! If you're looking for a compassionate vet for your pet don't even consider Brookside Veteranary Clinic! Read Less

I have a hard time trusting Vets. I don't know why but I always feel like they are trying to just take my money. That's not the case with Brookside. Bringing my dog to them has been such a great experience. First, my dog actually likes Doctor Ryan, and I felt like they legitimately cared for the well being of her. I was also astounded by their fair prices. As all pet owners know vet visits can be very pricey, I was so pleased with the pricing at Brookside. Lisa has been our family vet for 20+ years since she opened. She was there when our puppies were born, the two times our dog fell off the deck, when our dog of 16 years needed light therapy, and countless times since. Lisa continues to be my personal vet now that my parents have moved to Nevada. My dog Ceila has only had the best care by Lisa and her staff. I currently drive from Seattle to see this incredible team. Recently I had a scare with Ceila, and called Brookside to get their advice and they were absolutely wonderful. They referred me to animal hospitals in Seattle if immediate attention was needed (if symptoms progressed) and said to call them if we were admitted so they could follow up on her care. I only wish more people could experience the incredible care that Lisa and her team have given our family since her practice opened in Gig Harbor. I cannot express enough gratitude for all the care and compassion that Lisa and her team have shown our family and our furry family members over the years. I am not Corina--I'm her mom. My two friends (canines) would not go anywhere else. All the drs. here are excellent and the staff is friendly and very obviously animal-caring. The aides are efficient, kind, and gentle, and Dr. Woods and the others are thorough, ask questions, and really listen to concerns. The fees are reasonable--a little less than some places. I was referred to brookside by someone who took their guinea pig here for a neuter. They did a great job with that and I wanted you bring my boy here for his too! SUPER AFFORDABLE. Paid way less than what I was quoted and it didn't take very long. My boy was happily settled in at home a few short hours after we took him in. I want to say a big "thank you!" to the staff @ Brookside, from our family & Matty the senior cat. My dad brought Matty in with some health concerns last week while I was working away from home. The staff accurately diagnosed & treated Matty and offered us options for her thyroid care. Pops was impressed with the level of care they received & Matty is feeling much better and will be getting thyroid treatment from the source that the Brookside vets & techs referred us to. Veterinary care can be hit or miss...but Brookside's docs & staff make me realize that they are the only place in the area I will continue to take our pets. Matty has a few good years left in her, & she will continue to be a patient at Brookside! I should mention that I was a veterinary assistant student, if I had ended up staying in the animal-health industry... I would have very much liked to work for an office of Brookside's high caliber. After more than a year of struggling for an answer to my dogs health problem and visiting several vets, Dr. Woods nailed it! One look and she was able to diagnose and subscribe the appropriate treatment. I can't thank you enough; last night was the first in a year that my dog actually pulled toys out of this basket and played. He later curled up beside me and didn't scratch all night. Several years ago my mama goat was in labor and was in trouble. I called the vet in Gig Harbor that we'd been with for years and he said, in effect, "Sorry, can't help you. You're on your own." In desperation, I consulted the yellow pages and found a doctor who has a clinic in a van and who makes house calls. He was already busy with an emergency, so he gave me Dr. Woods' name. I called her. She was at dinner in Lakewood, but she said she'd meet us at her clinic. She was fast, arriving just after we did, although she had to travel further. With her surgical gown on over her fancy dinner clothes, she delivered twin kids, thus saving the lives of three goats and earning our undying admiration and loyalty. Her caring attitude and willingness to literally 'go the extra mile' is reflected in every staff member at her now expanded hospital. You won't find a more accommodating, caring, skilled staff anywhere else. Read Less

We have been going to this clinic for over ten years now and have always received the best care! Our first dog, an American Bulldog, was a rescue and in his first year in our care, it was found that he had arthritis in his left leg. Over the course of 9 years, Brookside Vet continually gave him the best treatments available and made his 9 1/2 years of living, the best possible. When he passed, the compassion for him and us, displayed by the staff and Dr. of Brookside was overwhelming. Dr. Woods was on call at the time and she stayed with our sweet Diesel, as well as a tech and my husband, as he slipped away. The doctor and the tech cried as he took his last breath. A few weeks later, they sent us a beautiful card, signed by all the staff as well as a plaque they made with Diesel's paw print pressed into the clay. You cannot miss their love for each animal they treat. We saw them once at a dog fair and Diesel knew them immediately and had to go over to see them. This is no ordinary clinic. Dr. Woods was extremely focused on collecting! She was very aggressive and pushy, her attitude, that is. The girls at the front desk exchanged many looks and raised brows with each other, it was a horrid experience... I had to go elsewhere.. vet was very unprofessional. I would never recommend them. Vet is extremely focused on fees over care. Simply put.When she came in to the exam room, she immediately started stating prices for this, for that. I was kind of a little amazed.. wow.. but .. can you help my little dog? Something was hurting her under her tail, and she wouldn't let me examine her. Yelping, etc.. It turned out to be compressed or compacted anal glands, one had burst, the other was about to. It was hard to see her writhing around, with this grim, small, sharp eyed vet calculating, thinking, very controlled looking .. she almost made me laugh but I quickly decided to take my dog to another place. I love this place! Their prices are totally reasonable and I agree with Brad D. I think Harmony S has some personal issues. And really...who does post an angry review TWO years later??? And a quote is just that, a quote, it's not a guarantee. Anyway, we have 3 dogs and 4 cats. We mostly just go there for well care check ups, but they ALWAYS remember us and always treat our babies like they are the most special pet ever, even though I'm sure they see a ton of 'special pets'. WOW. It must have been a full moon when the last two Yelpers posted their review. I have been to Brookside 3 times now and each time I have a great experience. While I have not had any major issues with my pets, they usually just get their shots and a quick checkup, each time I am greeting with a smile, and they are prompt in service while not making me wait around. My fellow guests seem very happy and friendly upon each visit, so it makes me lead to beleive that most of Brookside's clients either 1. do not own a computer or 2. have not heard of Yelp. Once word gets out, I think Dr. Woods's impressive facility and staff will get the credit that they truly deserve. (Oh BTW: I live in Puyallup and drive to Gig Harbor to ensure my pets get the ABSOLUTE best treatment!) Read Less

I have 6 pet and been going to this clinic since I moved here. My cat got sick (organ failure) and was in so much pain he was sleeping in his litter box so he didn't have to move. I called to ask "How much to euthinize him." I then asked if I "Could pay half now and half next week". I was told payments are due at time of service. I said "But he is suffering", "Sorry but all payments are due at time of service". So I guess the all mighty dollar is worth more then the pain and suffering of an animal. Oh, and if you want to be with your pet while he is being euthanized it's an extra $30, if you let them take him in back it's free, what are they doing in back that they need to hide? Read Less

I have been taking my lab to Brookside for over 7 years and I find they are always kind, courteous and very loving to my pet. My dog actually loves going there. I have always been confronted with costs upfront. I did have an older cocker spaniel that was very ill and they always saw her when she was sick. When the office is closed and you do have an emergency, we do have to cross the bridge to Tacoma for care. I have done that too. Its just the way it is. When my mother has an emergency I also have to cross the bridge to the ER so I dont see why any one would be upset about that. I love Lisa and her staff. If you value your pet's lives do not take them to 'Brookside Vet' because they are inept and unprofessional. I brought my dog in on an emergency basis, for she was in death throes. They made my mom and I wait 35 minutes before they brought us in a room, as they did not deem our dogs obvious distress as an emergency. Our dogs tongue was turning purple and lolling from the side of her mouth, still not get a reation. Our dog died in our arms, I opened the door and told the vet she was dead, she ripped her out of my arms without asking me if I wanted to recessertate her. While she was oxygen, the oxygen tank had run out of air. Instead of immediately taking her in room and giving her a sedative to make her last hour comfortable they let her suffer needlessly. While this was going on they felt it was more important to refill medication to another patient, or they were just talking and gossiping, outside the room they had put us in. And to top off this whole awful experience they charged us over $360 to revive our dog and then euthinize our dog, all without asking us permission in the first place. So if you want to be overcharged by Brookside vet and the hacks they have working for them, keep going to them.As far as I am concerned we are screwed living on the Key Peninsula, we are over charged and our vets will not see our pets on an emergency basis. We have to either cross the bridge into Tacoma or go to Silverdale. So if you have a sick animal, go to Tacoma or Port Orchard, don't support Brookside Vet, unless you want to be overcharged and have inept vets and staff working on your beloved pets. Read Less
