I called yesterday to make and appointment for a check up for my cat as she is getting older and also because I wanted to try the flea and tick medicine "revolution". Upon telling the person who answered the phone about wanting a new type of med for flea and ticks because frontline and advantage don't work she began to tell me my cat wont get better until I get an exterminator to bug bomb my place PRESUMING to know what type of environment I live in 1st of all I give this stuff to my cat for preventative measures I am a METICULOUS neat freak I am well aware of the life cycle of fleas and how eggs will lay in carpet until a fur critter walks by I know they are in cracks of things I know to vacuum and empty the canister I pull the fridge and oven out and vacuum and mop under there and some times even run the hot steamer all around I brush my cat regularly with a flea comb. If I wanted an opinion about if my home is actually making my cat sick from bugs I would ask an exterminator! I called a vet because my cat needed a check up and a new flea medication. It is 2:30 and this statement stewed in my head this long 1st thing in the morning I am canceling my appointment, there are other vets with better reviews in the area and hopefully better phone skills Read Less

A very unpleasant environment and a typical overpriced scandal of a vet. We took our puppy there after I told the vet she had a UTI, but without an exam we couldn’t get antibiotics. We had to collect the urine outside in a plastic lid then bring it into the office. Which they then charged us $30 for a “lab urine collection fee”. The vet during the appointment was telling us that the average Brittany spaniel weighs around 55 pounds... which is absolutely wrong. The average Brittany male mean weight is 35 pounds. I’d pay triple the amount elsewhere to have knowledgeable staff, a professional office, and honest billing. Take your money elsewhere for not only your sake but your pets. Read Less

I've been taking my three dogs to Dr. Brar at Klahanie Veterinary Hospital for as many years as he's been there. Not only is he a nice, kind and professional doctor, he really cares for my dogs. That's not easy as they all have "issues!" One is neurotic and one only likes me and the third one is extremely sensitive. He's very patient with them and I've always been able to get in to see him when I have an emergency. He's always very responsive when I call. I've had cats and dogs my entire life and I can sincerely say that Dr. Brar is one of the best vets I've ever seen. His staff is also very helpful and they always help me right away or get back to me quickly. I highly recommend this clinic and Dr. Brar to anyone needing a great veterinarian. Read Less

Had a terrible, terrible experience. Took our cat there in a Friday, as he was unable to urinate. He had previous incidents with kidney stones and such and it was not the first we had to go to a vet so he could get better. First, they were not able to deal with him as he was very upset. They didn't even tried and put him right away on full anestesia. Then, after getting blood test results, they said there was no blockage indications and it was most likely an infection. They were pending on the urine tests that took almost 2 days to come. They gave him a antiobiotic and pain relief for us to give it at home. The cat didn't eat, drink water and pee for more than 2 days. My wife tried to call them on the Saturday, but they said he needed to give more time for the antibiotic to take effect and if we would take him to the clinic again, they would need to put him on anestesia again. So we waited the full Saturday and the cat continued to not eat, drink or pee. He barely could move and he rejected all food we put in front of him. Sunday morning, we called the clinic again, but there was no doctor available after the doctor my wife talked to on Saturday, said they would be one doctor available on Sunday. Worried with the wait and the situation to get worse, we called another vet clinic in Bellevue, which had a 24/7 emergency service. We took our cat there and after the examinations, the doctor told us he was in really bad shape, full of stones, bladder completely full, blockage on the urinatory channel, a kidney almost stopped and high levels of potassium that would result in heart failure. How could the Klahanie clinic not detect this? We paid more than 800$ on Friday at the Klahanie vet clinic and they literally just put our pet at risk of death. We're glad we found the other great vet clinic in Bellevue that helped our cat to stay with us in our lives. The Klahanie vet clinic sounds like they just want to push pet services (grooming, teeth cleaning, etc) to suck money from people, and don't care to fix the real medical condition of the animal. I don't recommend Klahanie vet clinic to anyone. Read Less

When I first moved to Washington years back, I only had my cat.  She is a cat that has always required additional attention and I was constantly at the vet.  Dr. Brar has always been amazing to my animal and very clear with directions.  The assistants have been super friendly and helpful.  Since then we have added puppies to our family.  They always remember our names and greet us when we walk in.  They always call the following day to check in on how everyone is doing.  Could have not been blessed better with a veterinary clinic.  They are even open on Sundays, which is so convenient at times.  The reminder cards they send us are just great as we all get so busy. I've always thought this clinic pushed too hard up selling services for our cats. Aside from that, i have  to wonder about the character of the owner.  Last night, 6/2/16, He was in Chans Place restaurant with a group of 4 other men.  His condescending attitude towards the bartender was shocking.  I predicted he would be a cheap tipper.  Sure enough, I peaked at his bill after he left and saw a $5 dollar tip for a $50 tab.  Same Dr. Charging $500 to clean cat teeth. This is the first negative review I've written on Yelp...but my experience here was so poor, I'm motivated to let the world know.  The short of it is they left us with a very strong impression that they are interested in extracting maximal money out of us, instead of trying to do the best for our pet and for us as customers.  Apart from a chilly and nearly offensive bedside manner, they attempted to run multiple tests that give redundant diagnostics, as well as attempting to give shots and meds for the same symptoms, without explaining why all the redundancy.  They tried to charge us over a thousand dollars for a battery of tests and meds that seemed very far from focused.  We walked out with a big bill, and no diagnosis, and no plan of care.  I have been to a dozen vets in several states, for a wide range of pet health issues, and so I have a strong baseline of good past vet experiences to compare against. Our dog loves Dr. Brar, and we all love him.  The staff and Klahanie Vet center have been great to our dog.  He's anxious around other dogs, and they always go out of their way to help him in and out the door without getting too worked up.  We originally chose this office because they have flexible hours that work for us.  We keep coming back because Dr. Brar and the staff are great with our dog, and we know his recommendations are always just right.  For example, our puppy got sores on the roof of his mouth from excessive chewing.  Dr. Brar started him on a modest solution (no more hard chew toys, plus antibiotics) after several weeks of monitoring where he didn't heal up, we switched to a more aggressive (steroidal) solution.  We were really happy with the careful and systematic approach recommended by the staff.  We love this place, and the care we've received there. Recently we moved to the eastside, Issaquah Highlands. My vet whom I always had exceptional, honest service, and quality care was now 35 miles away now. I chose this vet based on location and for the most part had decent reviews, although there were several that caught my eye, I decided to try it out. Upon arriving I was not greeted warmly, cold and short. But it was the Monday after the holidays so figured they weren't to happy to be back at the office. After filling out new client paperwork I was escorted to a room, I thought "wow quick", that's great. Then the wait began, I was in a white plain room for 25min where the walls are paper thin and I could hear everything going on. 35 min.approaches which feels like eternity, the vet popped her head in quickly and said they will be right with me... another 10 min goes by when she finally comes back in. The appointment itself took about 10 min. She talked a million words per min about every vaccine my 10yr dog needed, I quickly told them she doesn't get boarded, she doesn't go outside and she is an elderly in-door small dog whom my vet always was conservative and didn't do unnecessary treatment nor vaccines. She said ok, and again talked so fast and seemed rushed, and talked again about unnecessary treatment. she didn't seem to be there to truly take care of me andy dogs needs. With my old vet, he took his time, he cared, and it showed. This place is all about the dollar amount, quantity not quality. When the vet tech came in she said she would take my dog to the back and do the vaccines. I immediately had a problem with this, I have never in 10yrs had my dog removed from the room to do shots without me present. I said, I wanted them to do in front of me in the room. Overall my experience wasn't good, it was cold, non caring, all about money right down to charging client for disposal of syringe....that's absurb! sharps is not a cost that should go to client's, it's the overhead cost of a practice. Also they have a "free" exam first time client which it seems they weren't going to bring up or honor until I asked them after hearing a lady arguing about it with the front. It's a place you take your dog to if you don't care to have quality loving care of a family member. I will be traveling 40 min to go to my old vet who loves my dog and truly has great customer care.Read Less

A few months ago I noticed my dachshund Spritzer had trouble walking. It was the weekend and by Sunday he could no longer walk. I took him to the emergency vet where I was told that if he didnt have emergency surgery that night he would never walk again. I was given a quote of around $8,000. I felt extremely pressured and decided to take him to Klahanie for a second opinion. Dr. Brar said it didnt look good for Spritzer and that the odds were against him. We decided no surgery just treatment. Today, Spritzer walks and runs again. This  clinic is a classic example of the bait and switch operation. We got the puppy package which covered the vaccinations, initial exam, deworming, etc , but they keep insisting on doing multiple fecal tests and charging us $40 for each exam & over $200 worth of medications, apparently only the first one is included in the puppy package. and the cycle doesn't seem to end. We decided to get a second opinion rather than giving all these medications to our puppy. Also  we were a week away from the scheduled neutering surgery . We were quoted over $400 and can't imagine what all additional costs we would have incured if we had gotten our puppy fixed there. We went to this vet a year ago and had a decent experience.  Our experience this year was horrible enough that it has reduced this rating to one star.We took our two healthy cats in for a routine exam.  Klahanie Veterinary asked us to bring a litter box sample, which we thought was strange because they are indoor cats with no exposure to other animals.  We were not told the sample would be an additional $40 charge. After examining our cats, the vet told us that our 9-year-old cat needed her teeth cleaned and potentially a tooth pulled, which was going to be an additional $331-$431.  In a very confusing manner they pressured us to do a $175 blood sample that day in preparation for the cleaning, and told us if we scheduled the cleaning for a few weeks later, it would be $100 less due to a coupon.Later that day, we looked over the numerous and confusing quotes they had provided, and realized that only a $45 blood test was necessary to proceed with the cleaning.  When we called to try and cancel the more extensive $175 blood test, we were told that it couldn't be cancelled.  We explained our concerns about the confusing manner in which they had pushed the extensive blood test, and the superfluous litter sample test.  The office manager was flippant, unapologetic, uncaring, and adversarial.  They refused to compromise on any of the charges, and seemed unwilling to hear of our concerns or desire to continue business with them given our positive experience last year.  Even taking off the excessive $40 litter sample exam would have eased our concerns that they were milking us.We switched to another vet, who we have been very pleased with.  The new vet charged less than half for secondary charges related to the tooth cleaning (e.g. antibiotics).  Unfortunately, the new vet let us know the lab indicated the $175 blood sample from Klahanie had been affected by hemolysis, and so the results were unreliable.  The hemolysis may have been due to Klahanie Veterinary drawing or handling the sample improperly, and is something Klahanie never told us about.  Instead, Klahanie concerned us by saying the sample showed our cat potentially had liver problems, which was incorrect and likely due to the hemolysis, as a fresh blood test came out normal.  Possibly Klahanie told us this to justify charging for a bad and overly extensive test.Prepare to be twentied and benjamined with this business.  See the other reviews for similar reports of unnecessary and costly tests, and poor customer service.  For the wellness of your pets, yourself, and your pocketbook, look elsewhere. My wife and I are very reasonable people. But when a clinic practices the equivalent of bait and switch tactics, it's pretty disappointing. This place offered a free initial exam (our first time there), and then wanted to charge us over $100 more than your typical clinic for a urine test for our black lab. They argued it was a premium test. When we told them we were comfortable with the risk of a "standard" test, they essentially told us that it wasn't our choice. We declined that test and asked them to proceed with the mange test, at which time the vet refused to provide any more service to us. He (Dr. Brar - who was rude and condescending the entire time) literally told us to leave his clinic. I don't wish this on many places, but I hope that a business with this type of horrid customer service attitude will cease to exist in the very near future. Take your money elsewhere and give it to people who at least respect you. I'm not sure how there can be such a disparity between the positive and negative experiences here, based on how we were treated. Read Less

If you feel like spending a ton of unnecessary money, head straight for the uber-greedy, jerk of a vet at Klahanie Veterinary Hospital. Our cat was sick over the weekend, stopped eating. We had a coupon for a free initial exam at Klahanie so we took the cat there. After telling us that the cat was running a high fever and was 'severely dehydrated,' the vet told us we would need x-rays, bloodwork, IV fluids and more, to the tune of $1000. I said no way, and he said he could do the bloodwork and fluids for around $400, but essentially made it sound as though we'd be killing our cat if we didn't do the x-rays. I ended up saying 'no thanks' and walking out entirely, but not before the jerk of a vet made us sign a waiver essentially stating that he warned us that our cat could die if we didn't surrender it to his care. We took our cat instead to Tiger Mountain vet and they kept him overnight to watch over him, decided all he needed was a quick shot of antibiotics and a shot of fluids, and voila, he was back to normal health. No xrays. No bloodwork. No IV fluids. And, we were outta there for less than $100. STAY AWAY from Klahanie Vet. SHAME ON YOU, DOC!!! Read Less

I have to say - I really like Klahanie Veterinary Hospital. I have never had a problem with getting the appointment I need or walking in to get my dog's nails trimmed. The Dr. is super nice, really listens to what your concerns are and offers you his expert opinion. He is so nice to my dog and my dog just LOVES him and all the attention he gets. As previously mentioned, you can walk in pretty much anytime and they're happy to clip my dogs nails for a small charge. In the past I have had concerns with the front desk staff being knowledgeable about their pricing and such, but I don't think those girls work there anymore. The current front desk staff is awesome!

A horrid, horrid place. Over the years, we've used them for many pets, and were happy for a long time. The last few visits, not so much. Now they're openly rude and condescending. Fees seem to come out of the woodwork. Today they wouldn't even give a price over the phone for a routine neutering - they said it caused "complications." I wonder if the "complication" is that they gave quotes they didn't honor, or they gave quotes that nobody wanted. If you love your pet, you'll go through some rough times. Find a vet that you'll want to be with on those rough times. Read Less

I'd give this place negative review if I could. My dog didn't even go see this vet because they TURNED ME AWAY! We had an awful experience at her previous vet, where he took a lot of teeth out and so I am hypersensitive to anything regarding her mouth now. When I explained that to the woman who answered the phone, she went and checked with the vet who told her to tell me that they wont accept my dog because there may be problems with her. Ignore the other rave reviews on this page if you are trying to transfer your pet due to a bad prior experience! Read Less

One of which over 100lbs the other about 150lbs and they have no problems handling large dogs, they actually like going because they're excited for hugs and treats. Another advantage I should note is that all follow ups are free!!! Read Less
