We have taken our dogs to Kenmore Veterinary Hospital for almost 5 years.  First, we had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Norton who was the most caring vet our pets had ever had the opportunity to work with.  In addition to our gratitude to Dr. Norton, we are thankful for the kind and caring vet technicians and office staff.  After Dr. Norton retired we began seeing Dr. Bellinghausen.  Dr. Bellinghausen is very knowledgeable and provides very thorough care.  However, recently, we left his office with a traumatic experience and negligent follow up care.  Here is what happened.  Our dog does not like his nails trimmed.  Dr. B. had some help so he took him in the back to trim his nails with the vet techs.  Upon returning my dog was unable to walk, dragging his left leg behind him.  We were sent home with a diagnosis of a slipped disc and steroids pills for inflammation.  And, lectures on how back injuries are common in the "breed."  My dog spent the majority of the night crying and panting in pain.  We ended up at the emergency vet and received a pain injection and were sent home with 2 types of pain management medications.  Along with referrals for veterinary offices that specialize in neurology services. Since the incident he has been immobile and must be on bed rest for 2+ weeks.  I understand that injuries happen.  And never did I make Kenmore Veterinary Hospital feel badly for the injury that happened in their care.  However, I am deeply disappointed in their bedside manner and follow up care.  They've been taking care of our 3 dogs for almost 5 years and since leaving that day there have been no follow up phone calls or offers of follow up care or general concern.  Nor has there been any offers of long term follow up care or compensation for our emergency vet visit (not to mention hundreds of dollars lost in canceled vacation plans).  They've shown a lack of responsibility, questionable character, and lack of empathy; basics of care you'd expect for any member of your family. Dr Sharma where have you been all my life?!This office is amazing. The ladies behind the front desk are really sweet.I've only seen Dr Sharma as far as their vets go, but if they are anything like him, I know they'll be great. My first visit was amusing because I have TONS of cat experience (owning, volunteering, self education, etc) I announced to Dr Sharma that my cat was licking herself bald again and is probably having a UTI or struvite crystals again. Being skeptical of this new lady, Dr Sharma told me it was probably mental but he'd run test anyway (I'm sure he was thinking "If she wants to pay for unnecessary tests...."). Test came back, blood in urine and UTI. Baaam! I know cats, man.Any who, licking started again a few months later, this time it WAS in her head. After doing Xanax, Prozac, prescription food and pheromones with previous vets, I finally got her on something that works. Her little naked belly is growing fur again! Read Less

The receptionist and vet tech were friendly and wonderful. But the veterinarian told me my dog was fine simply because she wasn't limping at that very moment. He recommended supplements and to "give them time to work". His exam was brief and he brushed off my concerns. When she didn't get any better I took her to a new vet who promptly diagnosed her with a torn ACL and did x-rays which further found out she had hip dysplasia and spinal stenosis as well. My dog has been dealing with this pain for over two months because this vet wrote her off. Also, they clipped her nails (without my permission) and then charged me $16 for it. We will never be back.
