I've been here multiple times and my experiences are varied each time. The main nurse, Dr. White, Is an old lady who,for the most part, Knows what she's talking about. However, she can be very stubborn and pig headish. They're cheap karma quick, and easy to come in for routine check UPS and surgeries. However, when it comes to things that are more complicated and bizarre, find a different vets. The doctor will make you come back for multiple visits for something that should have only taken one. Her stubbornness at thinking she is always right almost cost my kitten's life. Because of this, I personally will not be back. Regardless of how cheap they are. Read Less

I WILL NEVER BE GOING BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!I don't even know where to start.....At the beginning of November I took my 9 year old German Shepard Mix in because he had a LARGE solid lump that formed in is right armpit and a small mole on his side, Dr. Lainson did a biopsy of both spots, the larger spot was full of blood and so it was thought to be a hematoma and we were told it would go away in a week. When it didn't go down I called and was told that I need to due a minimum of $500 more in test (oh by the way I already paid $500 for the 1st test). I finally go her to agree to try and drain the large spot and it was then determined that it was not a hematoma and I was told I needed to have the spot removed and his leg amputated, I of course wanted to look in to other options and she made me feel like I was the worst pet owner in the world because I wouldn't do what she wanted.I got my go in to see an oncologist and with an $85 test found out that my Baby Boy had Ostosarcoma and unfortunately there was really nothing I could do but make him comfortable. We had to put him down this past Saturday, as he was in far to much pain and the pain meds weren't working, This time it was Dr. White ( I had seen here once or Twice in the past and never liked her bed side manner), that being said on Saturday if I wasn't so upset over loosing my baby I would have gone off on her.The First thing she said to when she walked in the room was "Wow, you brought the WHOLE family", it was me, my husband, my mom and my dad (he was a family dog after all), then she coldly and quickly explained what was going to happen and walked out the room, the next time she came in with 2 injections and just real fast injected my dog and said "I will be back in a few minutes to make sure he is gone." the 3rd and final time I saw her she came in checked for a heartbeat and then asked if we were taking him home to be buried, I of course said yes and she started to say oh that a big hole to dig you sure your going to be able to do that. REALLY, who says that, I mean she was so cold hearted and mean, I will never take any of my animals to this vet. I miss Tigger and Dr. Ferguson. Read Less

2 stars only because in the past I had fine experiences there. I've been taking my pets to this vet for the last 4-5 years. I have felt the quality of this veterinary hospital go down so much in the last 1-1.5 years that I fear for the safety of my pets. There also seems to be quite a bit of staff turnover in the last 2 years. Receptionists and Tech's always friendly. The 2 veterinarians currently there have often been rude, apathetic, and dismissive of my concerns. Example, after bringing my dog in after a week of significant limping and some trouble getting up after laying down, the answer I got was "haven't you ever rolled an ankle before?" After bringing my cat in when severely ill, I was scolded by being told "it's an indoor cat, and you let the nails grow that long?" Well let me tell you, the nail trim i gave him didn't save his life. The cherry on top is that the last few times I've been in no one, including vets have referred to my animals by their right sex. I tried to brush it off, give them the benefit of the doubt, that it's just habit of speech to call animals things like "pretty girl," but now I realize that it was a terrifying red flag that I regret ignoring. And believe me, when I take pets in, I try to stay calm and not go into worry mode and tell a vet how to do their job, I ask good questions and follow recommended treatment. Will never be going back. Been thinking about it for a long time now, and will be finding a vet that seems a little more caring, passionate, and professional. Read Less

UPDATE: Reducing 5-star review to 3 (average) because the last time I went to Sawyer Lake, I was told Dr. Ferguson was no longer there, that "maybe she'd gone back to California." This previously 5-star review was based wholly on Dr. Ferguson's presence there. With her no longer there, and what I later discovered was a lie about where she actually had gone, I can't keep the 5-star up in case I steer other folks wrong. PREVIOUS REVIEW: TL;DR - Cat weight dropping. Took cat to the VCA. Cat was diagnosed with a liver infection and put on antibiotics by (a different) vet. Cat's condition continued to deteriorate. I took cat to a completely new vet: Sawyer Lake. Dr. Ferguson was surprised VCA was unable to pull a diabetes diagnosis from VCA's own blood panel. Cat put on insulin. I highly recommend this Veterinary Hospital for many reasons. We recently had a very sick 9yr old cat who literally was given a 2% chance of surviving renal failure which came on suddenly. I called around to several places and decided to try Sawyer Lake Vet Hosp. I was immediately impressed with the Doctor's and staff. On top of being cautiously optimistic, they were concerned, caring and sincere. Dr. Jan White and Dr. Meg Lainson made sure we knew every available option so we could make an educated decision. After a stay at the hospital, our kitty came home. The amazing staff walked us through exactly what we'd need to do daily to give her as much of a chance of survival as possible and were readily available for us if we had any questions or issues giving her the required meds at home. Our kitty has been gradually getting better, is gaining weight and is currently acting like a kitten! (much to the dog's dismay) We are so grateful to Sawyer Lake Veterinary Hospital, Dr. White, Dr. Lainson and the entire staff. Our pet's are family members so we simply can't thank them enough. ZERO STARS FOR A ZERO VET!!   was quite surprised at the check out total ($105) for a puppy exam! Worse, was having told the veterinarian @ least 3 or 4 times NOT to give my 2 lb chihuahua a leptospirosis vaccination (chihuahuas don't do well with them), she did anyway! VERY BAD REACTION!! The clinic won't comp the whole bill either-- just the exam and vaccination fees. Can we say lawsuit and time to call the Board on this place. Took my cat here because he was vomiting and couldn't hold down any food. We made an appointment early in the day and they had availability a few hours later. The front desk staff lady was very kind and welcoming and got it into the exam room quickly. We explained the situation to Dr. Bridgette and she performed some preliminary tests on him. She was friendly, helpful and got us headed in the right direction. He was given a subcutaneous injection to at least get him some fluid which got him into a more stable condition to where we could take him home.Everyone was nice and very helpful. Bridgette gave us great tips and a solid regimen for our kitty and we followed it, and 2 days later he was all better! They helped us tremendously! Took my cat into them the other day. Staff was nice upfront about everything. What shocked me was after they were not able to test for a urinary track infection, the vet told me that they are testing for bartonella. They just tested him without my approval. That was $ 65.00 out of my pocket. The total bill was a shocker too. Please do your research and ignore the good review from an employee on here. Its bias for sure.We also donated a wild bunny and they told us that our kids can see it anytime we stop by. I filled out my info and made a donation. When I brought my kids by, they have no record of the bunny or my info I submitted. They also told me that they don't even allow people to view wild animals downstairs. I was impressed with this animal hospital. They were able to fit in a last-minute appointment for my parakeet when I needed to take him somewhere that day. Dr. Meg Lainson was friendly and knowledgeable, as were the rest of the staff. I will definitely be coming back the next time my bird needs some care. Read Less

If I was smart I would have left when she said they had only two appointments scheduled for the entire day! Read Less

NOTE: This previous five star review was based solely on my experience with Dr. Ferguson, who is no longer with Sawyer Lake. I'm dropping the 5 star to 4 star because of that, which still indicates that I'm a fan, though frankly, I don't plan on going back because I'm going to find Dr. Ferguson should future pet woes trouble me.The story -  Cat weight dropping. Took cat to the VCA. Cat was diagnosed with a liver infection and put on antibiotics by vet staff. Cat's condition continued to deteriorate. I took cat to a completely new vet: Sawyer Lake. Dr. Ferguson was surprised VCA was unable to pull a diabetes diagnosis from VCA's own blood panel. Cat pun on insulin. Turn-around has been miraculous. All thanks to Dr. Ferguson of Sawyer Lake. I'd definitely take my kitty back here if I had to (hopefully I won't have to, though) Read Less

This is not what they told me at first !! Read Less
