I've had greyhounds for years, and I love bringing them here, especially to Dr. Kim Martin. The downstairs office focuses on holistic medicine, and while we didn't need much in the way of medical help, the lack of a waiting room, i.e. going straight to an exam room without a separate check-in or check-out, is fantastic! I called in one afternoon, never have been to this animal hospital (just lived near by so I figured I’d try here first) almost in tears because my pup had gotten a tick and I had no clue if I had removed it correctly. Everybody was so KIND and HELPFUL. I couldn’t believe they were able to get me in right away. A day or two after seeing the vet, I received and email checking up on my pup making sure he was doing alright. How nice to know they genuinely care! Hawks Prairie Vet is a state of the art facility and they have the best doctors and staff. They treat your pets like family and they truly care. I foster kittens and I tell my new adoptees that Hawks Prairie is the best. I tell all my friends and family as well. I brought my dog here for an exam and some vaccinations 2 weeks and 3 days ago. She is now showing severe signs of kennel cough. I called this facility today after listening to her hack after getting home. I was calling to first advise them that there may be an issue there with other dogs contracting it there. Then I inquired about getting some medication for her to get better. The rude lady on the phone advised me that I would need to pay an exam fee, pay for testing and pay for the medication. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?! My dog is an inside dog, has not seen her litter mate in approximately 6 weeks and does not go to dog parks. The lady confirmed with me that it is approximately two weeks when symptoms start to show with kennel cough. Obviously from the date of my appointment that time frame is correct. It is pretty obvious to me that she contracted it there. All I wanted was some medication for her to get better. If you need to hear her cough I can get that done for you. I'm NOT paying an exam fee for something she contracted THERE. To demand I do so with no compassion for my situation is ABSOLUTELY appalling and you should be ashamed of yourselves. So if your dog was here about 2 weeks ago please watch them closely. I've never been treated so poorly or made to feel so stupid by someone who is supposed to be caring and compassionate about animals. All she kept saying is that I do not know that my dog contracted it there. No apologies or offer of any kind of help other than all this money that is supposed to come out of MY pocket for trusting my dog's well being in your facility. Excellent! I have had to come here twice within a month- once for my dog with a UTI and today for a cat I'm watching with an injured arm. Both experiences were fantastic. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, they have been quick to get me in both times and their prices are fair. I appreciate that the staff are always kind and informative. Today's visit was taking a bit longer than normal and they checked in with me multiple times and explained what was going on. I couldn't ask for better service. Only suggestions I have are: it would be nice if they had a handicap door to make it easier to open the door while toting an injured animal without needing assistance. Also, it would be nice if they gave a "after care check list". Although they are thorough, I think this would be very helpful since most animals are cared for by multiple people. Otherwise- fantastic job!! I hope to not need to see them soon but know that they will take great care of us if we do. :) Read Less

I brought in a bunny that I had rescued from under my house. The receptionists were very welcoming and friendly and the rabbit specialist that I saw was an incredibly sweet woman that offered a lot of helpful advice and answered all of my questions patiently. This has to be one of the best veterinary clinics I've ever been to! I had to schedule an appointment for my 4 month old cat asap, and they were able to see her that very same day! The staff are very friendly. When I informed them that I only had a certain amount of money I could afford to give them for the bill, they were very understanding and willing to work with me. Visited for the first time with my new pups less than a week ago. Loved the doctor. However, today my 10 week old puppy became very ill. Diarrhea and vomiting violently. I called the vet from my car to see if they could fit her in. I was informed they didn't have time to see her, recommended one of their sister vets, (if they had time available). Then asked me if I wanted them to give me the phone numbers. I said no, and it sounded like they were too busy if a vet for us. I called Banfield and they got me right in. I won't ever go back to Hawks Prairie Vet again!!! They are terrible when your pet truly needs help. Read Less

I have been taking my older pup here for about two years now. And they have been so wonderful with him that we decided to continue care with the newest member of our family. We arrived early and were immediately helped. I was given the option to wait in the exam room or the lobby with my new puppy which is perfect because he is still young and not fully vaccinated yet. Felicia was amazing going over in depth information with me and was patient in helping me understand. And oh boy did my pup love Dr. Jennifer. My dog Ginger became very ill she was a patient at a different vet hospital in Puyallup and when I tried to schedule with them they made it seem like it was a burden to get her in.I called another clinic in University Place and they were booked, so they told me to go to an ER vet ($$$$$). Then remembered my friend telling me about Hawks Prairie and I immediately called them it was 5pm and although it would take some time to get Ginger there they told me to bring her in immediately. I work in Seattle so my daughter rushed her in, and well with a heavy heart I had to lay my baby to rest. She was 14 years old. I just want to thank the staff and doctors for being there for me and Ginger. Money is tight right now but they helped me without making me feel ashamed. I have been a client of Hawks Prairie Veterinary Hospital and it's sister clinics for more than 20 years. Until today I have recommended them to everyone. I will admit that my dogs are healthy and rarely need to see a vet aside from vaccines. So, I stopped today to pick up flea meds. Becky informed me that because of policy, she could not sell me the one I asked for because of it being a prescription. The policy is that if your animal hasn't had an exam within 12 months, than no meds. Okay, fine I understand. But she was rude and her customer service skills were lacking. After offering to sell me other options about 3 times, each time declining stating that I didn't want to switch them. Finally after 4 minutes of her telling me my dogs had not been in and I could buy something different did she finally offer to make me an appointment. She acted as though because my dogs weren't in there monthly, I was an inconvenience. I was so upset by her attitude I declined the appointment and left.Read Less

I took my elderly blind indoor cat to this place to have the simple task of having his claws trimmed. He came home infested with fleas. Having had cats for over 20 years I have never had this problem. My cat was going mad with the biting a itching. I am allergic to pest bite, both of us eaten alive. They treated him once which was not permanent. For two or more months trying various remedies for house and cat I finally found another vet that treated the cat but had to call in Terminex to treat the house. All in all this episode has cost a small fortune and i will never go to such a filthy vets again. Read Less
