OVER PRICED - but they have a staff for 24 hour coverage. I declined to admit my dog to their hospital against their recommendation, because the bill could have been more than $2,000 for what turns out to just been constipation. They wanted to rule out obstruction in the stomach or intestine. Within an hour after leaving the Emergency PET Hospital my dog was eating and seemed to be feeling better after he passed some foul BM's. Probably just ate something on one of our walks. Recommend going to this place as a last resort as they are going to overcharge you for things that they aren't really sure your pet has. Good luck finding a vet that cares about your pet than their paycheck. THE VET AND STAFF AT THIS CLINIC DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR PET THEY ARE SO EXPENSIVE IT IS .... unbelievable. Read Less

I came in with my lab who was in pain at about 430am. Dr Burgress was amazing. He was so kind and helpful. He explained things to me. I loved my whole experience. After being worried about my fur baby, to feeling calm and taken care of. This is my go to pet emergency clinic from now on. Read Less

We had a great experience with the staff here!! We had a very sick girl (dog) that we brought into them. They took her back immediately when my husband carried her in. By the time we talked to the Dr they had already given her pain meds, taken an x-ray, and done an ultrasound. All in 20-30 minutes. We had a TON of questions!!!! The staff was very caring, knowledgeable, and sensitive to our situation, never making us feel bad about our decision. We were surprised by the quality of care we received. We were looking for triage level only given it was Christmas day and we had no other options. However, we got a level of care that we have come to expect from are dogs personal veterinarian. The staff was quick to respond, to help us, to answer our questions, to provide guidance on medication and to thoroughly assess our dog's condition. They both helped us get our dog out of the car and helped us get her back in even though it was a very busy time at their Clinic. We strongly recommend this facility. Read Less

I have taken animals here for a variety of emergency needs. The most recent was my dog who started having eye problems. The staff is friendly and does their best to take care of your pet. If you have to put an animal down, which I did once, they were very compassionate about the whole process, and treated the beloved animal with respect afterward. It is very nice that they have hours for emergency needs. But, remember, it's like going to an ER for yourself: it can be pricy. A great place for emergency needs, though. Read Less

Worst vet hospital I've ever been to. They told me they would have to put my dog under just to look at the wound which was a minor cut in between her paw pads. My dog is extremely calm and we'll demeanored. She followed the staff on the lead with no effort and even after they gave her pain meds, they decided she needed anesthesia (not local) to look at her wound. I was able to look at it no problem before we left the house to take her in. In the morning they gave me rimadyl and gabapentin for 5 days along with antibiotics. (They hadn't fed her by 9:30 am, thus withholding her medication and had not let her outside to go to the bathroom). I'm not sure why gabapentin is needed for an injury so minor that it only required 2 sutures (I looked at home and figured it out). I asked how many sutures and they couldn't tell me because "that vet is already off work". When I asked if the cut was from her stepping on glass, same reply.  They even told they put a "cast" on my dog. We left and within an hour ( my dog was just walking with a limp), the whole thing fell off. I took her back in since I figured this "magical cast" must need to be redone by a professional, only to find out it was nothing more than some purple wrap that was hard and gauze underneath. Then they accused me of not monitoring my dog close enough (I'm unemployed and hadn't left her side) and tried to CHARGE me to put on a new one. After I complained and got them to fix it for free, I went home and while she was walking 2 feet to her bowl, it fell off again. Oh, and they sent me home with a USED IV bag that still had the bane and information of whatever dog it was used on and told me to put that over their fake ass cast when she went outside to use the bathroom. $830 for that? I have visited this facility for my pets and I can't begin to express my gratitude. The staff is always gentle, kind and compassionate. I have had a dog euthanized and am thankful that it was done here. It was a a hard choice and it hurt, but the service never failed. I am forever thankful for everything they have done for my two dogs, may one rest in heaven. If you plan on visiting I highly recommend it, you will be glad you did. My husband and I had to take our four legged friend here two nights ago. We called to tell them we were on our way and would be there in about an hour with our dog whom was having seizures. When we arrived, they welcomed us and asked if we were the ones whom called and immediately took our dog. The receptionist got us in a room promptly and insured us the Dr would be in soon to chat. Sure enough Adam came in soon after and suggested to keep her overnight. In the morning, we took her to her oncologist whom is treating our dog for lymphoma. This is sincerely the best er i have ever visited. They were all very caring. I highly recommend them. They do not treat you as a number but as part of their family. Read Less

Our 16 year old ginger cat Frank woke us up in the night with a bad cut to his back leg. We promptly drove him to the other side of town to this emergent vet care facility. Reception was curt on the phone and curt on arrival. The staff was cold to our cat and cold to us. The vet was indifferent. He did not introduce himself or show any concern regarding Frank or ourselves. He told us he would have a look at our cat and come back to us with an estimate. He did not return for 2 hours with a $750 bill for 10 sutures. We paid, gathered our cat, which they had practically upside down in his carrier ( he was out), and left. There was no personal interaction with these KIDS from the time we called until the time we left this facility. Gawd forbid there was a thank you for the inflated fee. We were treated as though we had imposed upon them for awaking them from their perspective waiting room couches. The pain meds they gave our cat kept him awake for 2 days until we stopped giving them to him. When I talked to my girlfriend today she told me about the time she took her lab in for stitches in his ear. She said they were very rude to her as well. Worse than that, they applied strong sticky tape to his ear over the top of the sutures. Her regular vet was appalled at the procedure. The tape was very painful to remove from her dog. I agree with another poster within, this establishment is a stain on society of Thurston County. These employees and the vet who owns this place should be reviewed removed. Did I mention at 3:00 a.m. in the morning we really wanted a cup of coffee from the machine in the reception area and were told twice they would get cups for us. Nope, couldn't deliver that either. With so many negative reviews listed here, I'm surprised the rating is 4 stars. Someone needs to recalculate. Read Less

I am so impressed with this place. I never leave reviews but this place was so clean, organized and structured it put me at peace. We took our new rescue dog in on a Sunday and they were helpful, kind and caring. We thought our baby had kennel cough, but we chose to have a chest x-ray (they told us the possible cost before hand) and my doggy had pneumonia. Our regular vet sent us here when we had the terrifying experience of our senior male cat hiding and having seizure-like motions while crying out.The staff here were incredible. They triaged him directly in given his state, although there were some non-emergency pets in the waiting area. They gave us a private room because frankly, I was a mess (thank you for the privacy)!! They quickly diagnosed (he was blocked,) told us treatment options, and were honest about associated cost. We didn't hold back and walked out with a fairly large bill, but a cat who has now been healthy for over 8 months. The thing I was most impressed with was their kindness. I was an emotional mess. This is my child. They understood, and brought him to see me periodically (we weren't allowed in back, where he needed to be). He was a mess, as a rescue cat returned 3x before finding me. Although he growled at them the whole time, they kept smiling and talking to him calmly. They didn't label him "aggressive" as other vets mistakenly have when he gets vocal. My dog, Prince, recently had a traumatic eye injury. When we arrived to Olympia Pet Emergency, we were a little on edge given the circumstances. The delightful staff got us in immediately and took care of business like true professionals. Within minutes Prince was already being attended to, and we were able to relax, knowing our boy was in good hands. This is a wonderful place to head if you have an emergency with your pet.  Everyone is so kind and helpful.  We had to visit here tonight with our dog suffering from acute back pain. We saw Dr. Matt who was excellent treating our dog.  Do not hesitate to go here, it is a gem. Read Less

I've had to go to Olympia Pet Emergency twice now and have been very happy each time. Dr. Burggren helped us the first time we visited and was very informative and upfront with the cost involved. This last visit Dr. Adam Stone was able to help us. He also was very thorough and understanding to the situation. After each visit a technician has called us to check up on our pet and offered to get a Veterinarian to answer and further questions. Emergency pet health care is not cheap but I feel that the value is met at OPE. My pets and I greatly appreciate the availability of great emergency care. Read Less

This clinic saved my dog Bandit's life. Bandit was exhibiting signs of having gotten into some horrible toxin last evening; we still don't know what it could have been. This was our third visit to the emergency room with our dog - this time she had a run in with a porcupine. We were helped immediately, the vet was super friendly, everything was explained very clearly to us, the bill was reasonable and we were out of there in record time. Thank you to the entire staff of OPE for their loving kindness when I came in with my ailing 13+ year old Corgi. Everyone from Amanda in reception to the vet who attended us was so kind and compassionate! I was immediately attended to, led into a softly-lit room with a rocking chair and a sofa where I could hold my little one. I was not rushed, told I could have as long as I needed with my dog both before and after he was lovingly put down. The staff was so sympathetic! In today's mail I received a lovely sympathy card from them with four small paw prints on four separate cards. Sniff, sniff! I'm deeply disappointed with this facility. My dog had a swollen anal gland and sat for 45 minutes in the lobby in which it then ruptured because they didn't even glance to see how swollen it was. Once it ruptured then they moved fast and released it some and wiped her off in the lobby. My daughter (I'm deaf) had called and they quoted the price at 100. After over another hour wait...I was mad and debating if I should just go since looking it up...the worst was over. Decided if it was only 100...I would just stay and get it over. So I was taken in a room with my dog...and I specifically asked again to verify the costs. The lady said 95, I can read lips. So...a bit later the vet came in ...and I told him what was going on etc....he explained what was wrong. He even made the statement that I read lips well. He said he wanted to take her in the other room for a shot and clean up etc. as its quicker alone. So I agreed. No extra costs mentioned. Got her shot and cleaned up, got the discharge papers and the bill was 220+. I specifically asked to be sure it was 100 or I would have left. I paid the 100 as that was all I could do. They said I have ten days to pay the balance. This is just wrong...totally wrong. The vet was very nice along with the staff, but they quoted a price and didn't stick with it or mention additional costs.Read Less

We drove all the way from Stanwood to this clinic. The staff the doctors deserve a six star! Professional, kind, comfortable and in general The best clinic I've ever been to! We ended up saying goodbye to our loved one, and the whole experience couldn't have gone better. Obviously you only go there in an emergency, but they truly are a one-of-a-kind clinic. Read Less

This is perhaps the most difficult review to write...  not because there was anything wrong (hello, 5 stars) but because of the circumstances surrounding the visit.  My old lady shepherd/husky mix was at a point where a super hard decision had to be made.  Her regular vet wanted to give her pain meds but neither I nor her dad believe in that.  Dr. Burggren was extremely compassionate and very empathetic.  He explained the options and gave us plenty of time to make a decision.  Quite possibly the hardest decision I've ever had to make.  Dr. Burggren is wonderful.  He thoroughly explained the process and gave us as much time as we wanted with our girl.  I don't think I've ever been hugged by a doctor before today.  I sobbed on that poor man and he allowed it.  Thank you. If you come to a point in your fur baby's life, that you have a very hard decision to make, this is a good place to go.  And now I'll go get some tissues. Read Less

We brought our two puppies in. Love that they use precautions before you bring the pet in. We experienced the very best care here. Dr. And staff very concerned and very caring. Although she made the decision for us moments after we discussed taking her suffering away, it was still the most heart wrenching decision to finally make. Called this morning after my dog decided to eat dark chocolate covered rasins. They had me bring her in to induce vomiting skin she wouldn't digest them. We showed up right at change of shift and all the staff was very nice and very efficient with rounding because they didn't skip a beat from one vet to the next. Oakley had came in on a Sunday night at around 9 pm. We were confused about having to wait in a 24 hour pet hospital because rooms were full, to then figure out there was a firework show around the area and pets were in and out that night. Staff and his vet were great and easy to work with. And may I say that Oakley does not like to be handled and isn't too great with strangers. Oakley was nervous at first but ended up becoming very friendly with his nurse (rare); which made us feel comfortable leaving him in their hands. She explained everything that was going on and gave easy instructions to take care of him. Unfortunately, we didn't get the nurses name :( Read Less

We had the not so bright idea to take my asthmatic cat with us on a trip to visit my family. She became increasingly anxious and eventually started panting, and her albuterol inhaler didn't seem to help much. After a phone consultation with our normal emergency vet, we decided to bring her to Olympia Pet Emergency. We received very friendly, helpful service from everyone at the clinic. Dr. Reese was very patient in explaining what might be happening and what our treatment options were. They let Molly rest in an oxygen tent, then administered both a sedative and a steroid injection, and we were able to complete our trip without any further trouble. They also gave us sedative tablets in case she had trouble later, and we were able to get her back home safely by administering a single dose of sedative before starting the return trip. Lesson learned!I highly recommend Olympia Pet Emergency! They can be a little tricky to find if you are unfamiliar with the area, but just call and ask, and they will give you great directions. :) Read Less

I think I can finally write a review without breaking down in sobs.  Here goes.  Our seemingly healthy 11 1/2 year old cat Zoe, out of nowhere, last Thursday night at 9:45, appeared to have a stroke, she couldn't see or hear us and had labored breathing.  We were very attached to our sweet girl and were immediately majorly concerned if not totally freaked out.  We googled 24/7 vets in the area, and Olympia Pet Emergency was what came up.  Our normal vet was obviously closed so we called Olympia Pet Emergency and asked a few questions and were told to bring her in.  The receptionist/vet tech Tammie was incredibly helpful during the phone call.When we got there, Zoey, had gotten even worse.  My son was sobbing as we knew the situation wasn't good.  As soon as we came in, even though there were others in the waiting area, Tammie came over to us, looked at Zoey, and called for immediate triage.  She treated us with respect, compassion, and tenderness in this difficult time.  The other tech took Zoey back to the exam room to get her on oxygen and figure out what was going on.  Tammie then immediately brought us to a private room as my son continued to cry and she wanted to give us privacy.Long story short, Zoey had some type of stroke/seizure/neurological issue which called for one of the most painful and difficult decisions of our life, to euthanize her (she had no brain function).  Dr. Burggren was so kind, patient, competent, and knowledgeable during the entire process. He explained everything step by step, gave us facts, reassured us, answered questions, and listened ever so patiently.  He had wonderful bedside manner and was absolutely caring and compassionate. He assured us we made the right decision after we made it.  They were very appropriate during questions of what we wanted to do, costs, and billing.  Their costs seems fair, upfront, and reasonable.  True, it is an unexpected high cost, but vet care is expensive, and that is part of being an animal owner.We were in such shock that we initially thought we wanted Zoey cremated with a group of animals and ashes spread on Mt. Rainier.  The following day we realized we wanted Zoeys cremains in our own backyard where we could have a little memorial for her.  We called OPE and Tammie was sooo sweet and understanding.  She told me it was probably not to late and to call Tacoma Crematorium where Zoey was being taken for cremation.  I called them and they were able to cremate her by herself so we could have her ashes back.Our oldest daughter who is EXTREMELY attached to the cat was in Portland when the incident happened and was unable to say good bye.  Tammie was so compassionate about this issue and even took a paw print of one of Zoey's paws for her.  Tammie will probably never understand how important this paw print is to my daughter who has carried it around since she was given it. What an incredibly kind thing to do.  My daughter and I brought a rose and card to the staff a few days afterwards to thank them for their above and beyond service.  Tammie hugged my daughter and I and was genuinely sad and again so compassionate.I know the staff must deal with emergencies and animals/pet owners in distress on a frequent basis, based on the nature of their business, but they made us feel important and not just a number. They acted as if Zoey was their pet and they understood our grief and pain.  They are 100 percent in the right business and obviously this is their calling.   I can't imagine going through what we did and having staff being anything other than how they were to us. They made a horrible experience a little easier by their compassion and kindness.  Tammie and Dr. Burggren, your kindness will never be forgotten.  I would not hesitate to recommend OPE. We had a very sick puppy one evening and called our vets hotline who recommended we take her to Olympia Pet Emergency. The staff was extremely nice, knowledgable and made us feel at ease. We were in and out in a couple of hours. The price was very reasonable for a late night drop in. They even faxed all the information to,our vets office the next morning. The tech at Olympia Pet Emergency even called the next morning to check in on our puppy and to see if we had any questions. If we have any other pet emergencies after hours we will go,here again. Our sweet, two-month old puppy started showing signs of parvo one day all of a sudden and I immediately called OVE. The lady who answered sighed and huffed a lot and was rude. Acted like she could care less. We called everywhere until we could get her into Banfield who tested her for parvo and called into OVE because of how strong it was apparently. They found time for us. I expected the treatment-especially at a 24 hour emergency vet-to be expensive but this was insane to me. They told us no news is good news. Over the course of 5 days, the only news we got was when we would call in (once a day) to see how she reacted to treatments or how she was doing because we weren't getting ANY updates good or bad. Then we get the call that we have to come in and put her down. Went to the isolation room to talk things over and just be with her but the vet and her assistants came in every 30 minutes or more it seemed like. No privacy. Kept saying she's dying we need to do this. She had dried diarrhea and vomit on her rear, legs, side, neck and all over the cone and her face. I asked if they had cleaned her up and she said "well it happens so often"..... I THOUGHT she was supposed to have constant care and attention. We were cleaning her up while we were trying to enjoy our last moments and that made us question her entire care. That and the fact that every single Doctor, vet tech or employee we talked to had different sources of treatments and conflicted with each other saying what was or wasn't a good or strong enough approach. I read from others who had their pets put down they received a paw print so I'm really hoping that comes to us soon.Read Less

Everyone at the clinic was caring and helpful from when we first walked in the door. They took our concerns seriously even though most of our puppy's symptoms had abated by the time we reached the clinic, and did a thorough exam with her. It was Christmas Eve and very busy, but we were seen quickly. We might never know what caused our bizarre puppy to act even more bizarre than usual that night, but I appreciate the care and reassurance we received from the clinic! Read Less

My cat got sick over the holiday weekend and he went down hill fast. It was a respiratory infection. He wouldn't eat or drink and I took him in to this vet being that it was the closest open vet. It took two hours to get there and he was super dehydrated so when I got to the vet I told them right away that he needed to have a fluid injection and they made us wait two hours while they ran every test in the book and did xrays. They then said we had to pay 3000 dollars to have him on an iv and that we would need to take him to a long term vet or he would die. I paid the 800 for all the testing and asked them to please at least give him the fluid. I couldn't pay the 3000. They finally did but at this point it had been 5 hours. They recommended that if I couldn't pay I had him put down because he would not live the night. In the morning when he was still alive I took him to another vet who for 175 gave me everything I need to keep him going. Today he is back on top thanks to the second vet. This place just cares about getting huge payouts. Thank god I didn't listen to them and gave my guy a chance. Read Less

Outstanding service from a great staff. My dog had an allergic reaction to something unknown. The vet was very professional with making my dog comfortable and she was able to quickly diagnose my dog's medical issue and administer the appropriate medication. We have used this vet 3 times. They are always kind, helpful and take great care of our dogs. We had to euthanize our dog who had cancer. They were so caring and gave us all options. They allowed us to take as much time as we needed to say goodbye and were so sympathetic. They treated our dog with dignity.  I would highly recommend this vet for emergency services. Read Less
