There is a reason that this clinic has almost 5 stars! Dr. Bob and his staff are amazing!! They are very friendly, caring, and knowledgeable. I drive all the way from Gig Harbor just to go to this clinic because I know I will get honesty and great care for my pets. Not just that but a good laugh too and a smile on my face. I really feel that Dr. Bob has gone above and beyond for my cat. I was afraid I would have to surrender him to the humane society so he could get the care he needed because I couldn't afford the surgery. But with the help of the Humane Society's community care act and Dr. Bob working with me I didn't need to give up my baby. He is really compassionate towards people and their companions and you can tell this is not just a job for him it's his passion. I could not have asked for a better experience. Everyone in the office treated my dog like he was a celebrity. This is where I take him now. Period. LVH was referred to me by the staff of our former vet whose clinic sadly suffered a fire. I was sure I would'nt find another place that offered me the same level of confidence in care. My dog had an ear infection, and our funds were not there. We called the vet and they told us to come in after we explained our situation. I have to tell you THEY TOOK CARE OF MY DOG!!!!!! They were going to let us pay on the invoice. We will take care of that this week, but I can't tell you how wonderful it was for the front end staff and Dr. Bob to treat us so well. We are so grateful to them for helping our Jasmine out. If they are willing to do this for us, my dog has a new Vet. Thank you Dr. Bob and Sharon and the whole staff for what you did for us. This is by far the BEST vet clinic I have ever ever been to. I have owned many dogs and have lived all over the country, but have never experienced the level of care Lakewood Veterinary Hospital has provided. All staff members are extremely helpful, knowledgeable and incredibly courteous. The Docs are very good, incredibly well versed in their practice and have dedicated their entire lives to helping animals and genuinely care about both the pets and their owners. I have to move away from the area for about a year and the clinic compiled my dogs records to send forward and made recommendations for travel requirements I wasn't aware of. My family has been taking our critters to Dr. Charles and Dr. Bob for three generations. I drive from the Proctor neighborhood to see them. Not only are their prices very fair, they have a level of customer service and sensitivity that elevates them to be our only choice. Yes, we have been to other vets over the years, if there was an emergency or if our pets needed specialist services, but we've always returned to LVH and intend to do so indefinitely.Read Less

The desk lady is rude. I've never had to take my pets to a vet so I was pretty confused. I called in hopes of some sympathy and I got none. Both the Vets and the staff here are excellent! I brought my dog in because she had a mammary tumor and needed surgery. When they were operating on her they also found another very large tumor that they said was one of the largest they had ever seen that they removed. From the minute I brought my dog there there main focus wasn't on when they were going to get paid, or how I was going to pay. It was on my dog and her well being. I knew this was going to be expensive, but more than worth it to have my dog. So when It came time to pay for their services I was relieved to see how fair the final bill ended up being. Another thing that I was pleased about is that they let me split the bill up into a few payments. The Veterinarians knowledge and expertise saved my dogs life! I have no children, I have my dog and she is one of the most important things in my life! For years, my parents have taken our family cats to Lakewood Veterinary Hospital, and have been happy (much happier than the previous vet clinic). Now that I have my own two cats, it made sense to go here. WRONG! While the Veterinarians are absolutely qualified, it's their staff that has turned me from this hospital. Every time I call on the phone, their unwelcoming greeting is muffled, and I have to double check to see if I even called the correct place. After explaining the purpose of my call, I get a, "Okay, we have an appt this time. Huh? Wait, what did you want done again?"  I mean really?? I specified exactly what I wanted and you weren't listening that whole time?!I ask for a break-down of costs and it's a unprofessional guess on prices. She replied, "Well I don't know, it'll be whatever the Vet tells me. It'll be below $200, that's for sure" (laughs). Seriously, I don't want a guess with laughter to make it "light-hearted"So the Techs or Front Desk people have prevented me from going back here. The facility itself is rather dated and feels like I'm stepping back into the 70's. The prices are rather high too. I thought I was paying for quality but after going to another clinic where the staff was professional, caring, and helpful, I realized Lakewood Veterinary Hospital was definitely overcharging.Super disappointed in how this place has evolved...or more like devolved. I have lived in muliple states and this place is one of the best. Their prices are reasonable, the care is great and the staff is wonderful. If you need to see the doctors, they are great. they have years of experience and know their stuff. They are always willing to explain things. If you dont need to see the doctor and just get something done or pick up meds, they dont charge you for a doctors visit. That is nice because most places charge you a visit no matter what. The tech that sees my pet if they just need a simple shot or any other visit that doesnt require a doctors visit is always professional and seems to know more than most techs. It is almost like seeing the doctor. They have been around for over 60 years for a reason. Also they give military discounts and I heard that one of the Docs and one of the techs are Army Veterans.
