Great first visit! I've worked as a vet assistant and receptionist for 8 years so I am extremely picky/weary of finding a new vet hospital to bring my fur babies. I'm pretty sure the receptionists name was Lacey, she has only been there for a couple months and she immediately made me feel comfortable enough to actually schedule an appointment. She was extremely friendly and I loved her pure honesty! In my past experience, the hospital I worked at offered free first exams, but... we were told not to offer it right away, only allow the coupon to be used once the client mentioned it. But, at helping hands, Lacey offered it to me as soon as I told her I was a new client, then at check out when I asked pricing for exams, she gave me their normal price, discounted Saturday price, and even told me about their groupon coupon! Dr Gidry was extremely friendly and her/the technicians gave my kitten a toy to play with while we waited for test results :) they communicated well and were all very friendly. See More Read Less

Been back ordered for over 3 months but someone doesn’t seem to know that. told me They’d call me Monday to pick up. never called me back to pick up my dogs RX. Still waiting for it, but decided I won’t be coming back. 2 hrs for an appt that took 10 mins and the place was practically empty. then I ran around town for no reason looking for an RX, is a little ridiculous. The first time I came to this vet in 2017 they were unable to cut my dogs nails without my assistance. Really? A trained veterinarian and a vet tech needed my help to cut nails? Leaving me to have to purchase the correct meds. Terrible customer service, incompetent vets. Read Less

I'm a helicopter dog mom, a raw feeder, I'm conservative about vaccinations, and I research everything. I have had my share of veterinarians and it's not easy to find one that you connect with as well as I connect with the veterinarians at Helping Hands. Not only does everyone at the clinic love animals, which is so obvious before you walk in the door (this is a dog-friendly place), they respect the pet parents as well. Whenever I visit a new vet, I have a tinge of anxiety... because I wonder what they're going to say about how I feed my dogs (I feed raw) or my stance on vaccinations (not a fan). Not once did anyone judge me. Instead, they gave me great information, were patient with all of my questions, and took their time with our visit. I drive down from Marysville and I don't mind the trip because this is truly the best clinic I have found. I appreciate that they have the right mix of holistic and traditional care, that they don't talk down to us, and their prices are reasonable. I recommend Helping Hands to all of my followers (I'm a dog nutrition blogger - Keep the Tail Wagging) and anyone who is looking for a veterinarian in the area. See More Read Less

Decent staff, very animal friendly, this place was just wildly overpriced, and did not get me my estimate for an operation until the day beforehand. A spay and neuter for two of my kittens was estimated at $500 and I could not wrap my head around that. I've had a 50 lb dog spayed elsewhere for $115. I was also strong armed into their young animal payment plans where my options were, after the exam, pay the $400 they'd somehow racked up for a check up or start paying monthly for a year. This place is definitely a business first and once I'm done paying them off I will not be back. Read Less

HelpingHands Veterinary Clinic has the absolute best care available. I have taken my animals there for over 20 years. The veterinarians and entire staff provide care that is absolutely outstanding. The cost for care is more than reasonable and I always know I will be provided with the best advice. My animals mean the world to me and it is comforting to see they have such compassion for them as well. I regularly board one of my dogs and I'm able to leave for work knowing he gets the same care as I would provide at home. If your looking for a loving caring place, look no further. Just read their mission statement upon arrival. It says it all! Thanks to the entire staff. Sincerely, Michelle Thomas Read Less

I take my cats and dogs to a veterinarian who does not declaw cats, even if I have to travel an extra 20 minutes, it is worth it, they don't cry and whine in the car anymore like they used to when we used our ex-vet. Horrible vet!! I never leave reviews but this needs to be shared! I was searching for an answer to why my boxer was acting weird and not herself. A friend recommended helping hands because he mentioned they would take payments. My concern that the amount of money I had spent at several vets already trying to find out what was wrong . I explained she had fallen over going to the bathroom ect.... This vet kept bringing students into the exam room expressing to me they were trying to teach them . They sedated her for an X-ray as well as started trying to tap on her spine will a loud device she clearly was suffering. After hours there they still could not tell me anything and we were ready to go home . They totaled the services to around $550 and told me unless I paid it all right now I couldn't have her. Wth! I explained my friend had told me they would take payments and they argued no they do not. I paid them every dime I had and they sued me for the balance! Turns out a week later vCa diagnosed her with a malignant brain tumor . I hate helping hands please do not take your pet there because they are a horrible vet and a waste of your money and time. Dr. Karam was very helpful to us in the process and sincerely cared about our dog, as did the rest of the staff at Helping Hands. Afterwards, they even sent my family a card signed by all the staff along with a laminated ink print of my dogs paw! More recently, I have a 5 yr old labordoodle that was injured. My previous experience with VCA was very negative. Therefore, when my cat had some problem again, I looked for another local clinic. Upon reading some good reviews, I decided to visit Helping Hands. What a difference! The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, and gave me a good first impression. Then, Dr. Guidry came and greet us. Both my cat and I adored her immediately. She is very professional and kind, and tried to explained everything in plain words, and gave us options. Most importantly, this clinic NEVER urged or solicited any services that I (and my cat) didn't feel comfortable about. After all, not all of us have a lot of extra money to do extensive healthcare for pets (I don't even see doctors myself!). Dr. G (as he is called at the clinic) has cared for both of my dogs since I got them. His prices are lower and his services better than any of the animal clinics I've tried. This past year, my dog Roscoe developed cancer in his jaw. Dr. G was incredibly supportive, discussed all our treatment options with us at great length, and helped us make the best decisions we could. He and his staff were always available, always concerned, and seemed almost as devoted to Roscoe as we were. Under his care, Roscoe lived twice as long as his predicted survival time had he undergone chemotherapy. Dr. G provided us with all options, from traditional medicines to alternative and homeopathic treatments. In the end, the Doctor came to our home and performed Roscoe's euthanasia here, so that he did not have to die in a clinic. I am tremendously grateful to Dr. G and the entire clinic staff for making Roscoe's last six months as good as they could possibly be. I will continue to take my animals to Helping Hands, even though I now live in West Seattle and it is quite a drive. They are worth the extra effort Read Less

We loved the Vets at the office but the receptionists have misplaced or lost our dogs records on more than 1 occasion. The first time they informed us our dog needed 2 shots so we brought him in and when we got there they found the record that indicated the shots had already been received. The second time I took our dogs in for their annual check up and while I was there they told me I needed to pay for my dogs nails being trimmed in the previous month, before they would provide any services. My husband and I trim our own dogs nails and have never taken them in. The receptionist actually argued with me about it dog coming in for his nails to be trimmed. The date she gave was 2 days after I had just delivered our new baby... My husband and I had come home from the hospital with an infant on the day we supposedly took our dog in... The most recent mistake, we are being told we haven't taken my one of our dogs in in 2 years. She was spayed a year ago at that office and I was in the room the week before she was spayed when she received all her shots. They're saying she never received any shots at that time. We are currently searching for a new Veterinary office because of the receptionists mistakes. It does no good to have a great Vet if your records are continuously mixed up and lost. Read Less

DO NOT, I say again, DO NOT allow any pet to be seen by Dr. Goutam Mukherjee, "Dr.G". I brought my 2 year old kitty to this clinic, and was seen by this excuse for a vet. My cat had been cleaning his hindquarters excessively for several days, and was beginning to cry in pain when he moved or jumped over our baby gate. I brought him to this disreputable clinic because of the low prices advertised. After a very cursory, almost non existent, examination of my cat he was diagnosed as having his spine out of alignment and we were sent home after the first adjustment with some pain pills and a bill triple what was mentioned on the website. He was fine for a day or so, then everything started hurting him again. We waited for the second visit a week later and this time it "fixed" him for a few hours. After seeing my cat in pain for too long a time frame, two plus weeks at this point, I took my cat to another vet for a second opinion. The new vet suspected something or other that needed x-rays and sent me to an emergency vet clinic/hospital. After x-rays and observations the emergency vet, the *third* opinion I got, diagnosed my baby (cat) with crystals in his bladder/urine. We got him flushed out in the hopes that it would help him, and vet bills higher than we could pay, we surrendered him back to the shelter we originally got him from and hours later he had passed. I strongly believe that my cat died due to Dr. G's misdiagnosis, and his discounting of the symptoms I relayed to him my cat died. I would have pursued a malpractice lawsuit, but did not, and do not now have the funds available for such a pursuit.Take your beloved pets somewhere other than this place if you value their life and companionship. I would give this place a negative star rating if possible. Read Less

My husband and I have a male cat who is gravely ill... We called around to low cost vet clinics, as my husband has been laid off recently, and is the only source of income for our household. We have 5 children together. When I called Helping Hands, the receptionist informed us an office visit would cost us $43.00. I explained our cat's symptoms to her, and asked approximately how much she thought a visit and diagnosis would cost us... She said, "No more than $75-$100". So my husband and I decided to make an appointment for our cat, since we really wanted a diagnosis of his condition (even though we had a gut feeling it is something fatal). We went in for our appointment and filled out paperwork, which sat in front of the receptionist for almost 10 minutes before she did anything with it. We ended up waiting in their lobby for 20-25min, when they had called US earlier that morning and asked us to move our appointment time UP! The entire time we were waiting in the lobby, our cat was crying, distressed in it's carrying cage, and surrounded by multiple dogs... it was very sad. We were eventually taken back to a room, and finally met the Vet. She was nice and sympathetic, but CLEARLY misinformed. I told her about a kitten I had, who had contracted FIP and eventually died... I also told her that I was 9 months pregnant at the time, to which the Vet said, "Oh my God, pregnant women should NOT be around that!" Now I've had cats my entire life, and I had specifically asked the Vet who cared for my sick kitten if FIP was dangerous for me as a pregnant woman, and the Vet assured me FIP was dangerous to me in no way. It is Toxoplasmosis that is very dangerous for pregnant women!!!!! I did research when I got home from Helping Hands, to see if maybe there was some evidence of FIP being dangerous to pregnant women, and there is NOTHING out there suggesting that! So clearly this Vet is poorly trained... After we met with the Vet, we were told they were going to prepare an estimate for the cost to x-ray and diagnose our cat. We waited several minutes, and the Vet tech came back in with a prepared statement (similar to a car salesman, when they bring you in their written offer on a car, after speaking with their manager). She informed us it would be $258.00 just to diagnose our cat!!!!!!! They wanted $55.00 for the office visit, which I did not understand how that price jumped up $12.00 from the original price I was quoted by the receptionist, they wanted $160.00 for X-RAYS, and $40.00 to sedate our cat! I couldn't believe it! I had spoken about our financial situation to both the receptionist and the Vet tech, and they bring us in a quote like that??? We were so insulted, and felt we had been lied to ... as well as taken advantage of... so we decided to just go ahead and leave. $55.00 later, (which I had to pay with 2 separate credit cards just to afford it), we were told by a Vet who thinks FIP is dangerous for pregnant women, that our cat possibly has cancer, FeLV, or FIV (which he was tested for both as a kitten, with negative results)... Honestly, I have little faith in her diagnosis. And now we sit with our dying kitty, wondering what is killing him, wondering if it's something contagious to our other cat, but really having no answers. PLEASE spend your money at a more professional, "economy conscious", caring clinic!!!!!!!! Read Less

Read Less

They also mailed us "forget me not" flower seeds to plant them in his memory. I cried when I read this card. They are so thoughtful. Every experience here was so warm and welcoming, even in the end.. Thank you very much Helping Hands. Read Less

We recently lost our dog to Diabetic Ketoacidosis on 2-18 after an evidently pretty fast onset of this problem, that took us by surprise. Helping Hands helped us find out what the issue was, as well as the available options we had, and were very helpful to us while we had to make a difficult decision to put our Pugapoo to sleep. Dr. Karam was very helpful to us in the process and sincerely cared about our dog, as did the rest of the staff at Helping Hands. Dr. Karam even answered some of my questions after this happened, so as to help me understand what exactly happened, and on his own time and is available for more questions if we have them. We have not decided on another dog as yet, but if we do, we will continue to be a customer of Helping Hands. Read Less

If I could give negative stars I would give them negative 100 stars.  They are incompetent, misdiagnosed my dog and sent me on a wild goose chase for nothing.  They claim to be cheap but in reality they will nickel and dime you and in the end I end up paying thousands of dollars for unnecessary tests and procedures and never end up helping my dog with his vomiting and pain. After wasting a lot of time trying to figure out what was wrong with my dog, I took him to another vet for a second opinion. My new vet knew immediately what was wrong with my dog and told me he has seen this happen many times before at helping hands.  They over test and get you to spend thousands of dollars. I spent under 50 at my new vet for the visit and meds and my dog had never been better. Read Less

Dr Guidry is wonderful. My first visit to Helping Hands Veterinary Clinic, I came with my elderly dog and a lab report her previous vet. Dr. Guidry sat down (on the floor) with my dog and I and went thru the lab work one by one explaining what each thing meant (something my previous vet never did). She was compassionate and took the time to make both my dog and I feel comfortable. A few year later when I had to to put her down, Dr. Guidy and her staff were amazing. Afterwards, they even sent my family a card signed by all the staff along with a laminated ink print of my dogs paw! More recently, I have a 5 yr old labordoodle that was injured. Dr. Guidy gave us both holistic and traditional options. She not only is a great vet, she seems to be a great person as well. I highly recommend this clinic! Read Less

I really want to give this place five stars, but here's what made it drop to a three REAL quick- the unorganized front reception. Took me a good 15 min to pay for my services. The vet service was great though- saw Dr. Karam for an exam on our White German Shepherd and he was thorough and honest. I'm really glad he didn't push us towards unnecessary medication like most vets and he advised us on home remedies. That's the kind of vet I'd like to see. Five stars for the actual service.Overall 4 to offset the terrible wait. Read Less

I have been taking my last four dogs there since Helping Hands opened many years ago. The clinic had a change of ownership a couple of years ago. Dr Cherie Guidry is the current owner and lead veterinarian. She purchased the clinic in August of 2012. I trust her instincts 110%. I recently lost my dog to a cancer, and Dr. Guidry told me her suspicions, but sent the test to a radiologist. He suspected something different. However as it turns out Dr. Guidry was correct. I would never go anywhere else. She will give you options both traditional and holistic or a combo of the two. She also doesn't push extra tests on you. :) Read Less

I am very pleased and lucky to find a wonderful local clinic that still practice kindness and honesty, rather than becoming a sales-oriented business! Highly recommended! Read Less

Read Less
