I have four pets, and have been taking them to this hospital for more than 4 years. Staffs are friendly and easy to talk to. However, the level of attention they give to our four feet friends are, unfortunately, very disappointing and I am definitely considering to find another place to take my companion friends after my recent experience with them.
I had one of my dogs taken in for her regular check up - they did not notice anything particular and said she's healthy. Literally the following week, I noticed something was off and took her in immediately as her breathing was rough and heard heart murmurs. When I took her in for an emergency, they suggested that I schedule an appointment with a cardiology at the specialty center. After consulting the cardiologist, I found out that her heart condition is severe and will eventually go into a heart failure. What shocked me was that this condition seemed to have been going on for a very long time. Not only that, the cardiologist noticed that she has another condition right off the bat due to lessening of her back hair, which was very visible. (VCA had told me that the lessening of her hair was due to an age.) It is very disappointment and very frustrating to think that she could have received a better health service elsewhere had we known this in advance and this could have been prevented if they had paid a better attention.
Another experience that I had that had me reconsider revisiting was their lack of follow-throughs. I had reached out right after my dog's follow up cardiologist appointment to go over a treatment plan for her cushing's syndrome. I called them on Friday morning, specifically asking for the doctor to speak with my dog's cardiologist, and asked for a call back. I did not receive a call from them the following day and by Sunday morning I gave them a call to follow up. The doctor wasn't available and they took a note, which was fine. When I received a call from the doctor, it was very clear that she did not speak to the cardiologist as I had asked, and had suggested that we do not treat her for the syndrome. After this experience, I find it hard to trust their diagnosis and service. Read Less
