Formerly a good vet, but the last three visits to them have completely changed my mind. I recommend you avoid them now.
My wife and I brought our dog here a few years back, and all seemed well. We felt this would be a great place to make our permanent vet, and have made several visits since. Then about a year ago, things changed when they came out with a new pet care annual plan, that they are continually trying to force on you at a ridiculous cost (more than I pay for my own insurance), almost shaming you if you don't agree to it. They even recently raised prices on all of their normsl services to make the yearly plan seem more appealing. They went from being "service focused" to "services focused", and it's made a huge difference in the way they treat you.
The final straw was Saturday morning when we took our cat in to give them one last chance to redeem themselves. They seriously failed. First off, they tried pushing the $1000 plan on us again... several times. We just agreed to a basic exam, and some inoculation shots. Finally they took our cat to give her the shots, and when they came back, they said they also clipped her claws. Our cat loves to climb a great deal. We have several climbing areas set up around our house just for this purpose.
Since the exam/mutilation, she has not been able to climb any of these very well, and nearly fell off a climbing shelf she was attempting because she could not get a grip on it. I'm just glad I saw her struggling and caught her. She has been absolutely miserable and I can't wait for her claws to grow back so she'll be happy again and hopefully stop meowing so much... this isn't what I expect my animals to be like after a visit to the vet.
If my cat gets hurt while trying to climb something and falling, thereby forcing me to visit a vet to get THAT taken care of, I will be seriously perturbed. If you are going to modify my cat in some way, ask if it's okay first. Don't just assume it's alright to start chopping off parts of my animal without consulting me about whether or not I'm alright with it. My wife and I are seriously pissed as we have to deal with the consequences now.
It sucks having to go find a new vet as you never know if you will get one that actually cares about the animals, or just cares about the money. VCA use to be the former, but now are greatly guilty of being the latter. Read Less
