I've used Animal Hospital of Newport Hills for 23 years. Tonight, I walked out and won't return. I had an appointment. Even so, I waited 40 minutes in the waiting room (while walk ins came and went). After asking what was going on, I waited another 5 minutes before I was taken into a room. The vet tech did intake and left. I waited another 20 minutes and decided I'd had enough. I put my cat back in his carrier and went back to the waiting room. I told the receptionist what happened, and she told me to wait a minute. I said No, but she still didn't find a doctor for me. I started using the Animal Hospital when I was fostering a feral kitty who needed vaccines prior to being released as a barn cat & needed the flexibility of a walk in apptmt. Since then my other furballs have had apptmts with various vets at the clinic, all who have been wonderful. Very caring & excellent follow-up calls. I have made apptmts here as well, but even as a walk-in, get in faster to see a vet than at many of the other places I've ever gone for critter care. Read Less

This animal hospital is awesome, they are walking, but if you are the kind of person that need to hace an appointment, they have those in the afternoon , I never waited to be seen more than 20 minutes. Also they help me when I was abroad for 3 yrs, answering questions, filling my prescription, etc . I highly recommend them. Read Less

My family has been going to Animal Hospital of Newport Hills forever. My grandma took her dogs here, my mom takes her dogs here, and now I do too. They provide phenomenal service at a great price and allow walk-ins. i always walk-in and we never wait long. I would never switch vets. I have gone through the full life cycle with Animal Hospital of Newport Hills, and whether its helping me with my new puppy who doesn't take vaccines well or helping our family say goodbye to the four-legged members of the family, this clinic does it the best. So thankful for finding Dr. Davidoff. I took my little Luna in for a second opinion on some mammary tumors. Walked in terrified and uncertain, and walked out feeling taken care of by honest, caring, and experienced vet. I was discouraged by the previous vet visits, as I just moved here and haven't had any reccomendations on where to take my fur babies. I was worried I might have to take her back to my hometown vet! Our first visit, Dr. Davidoff was diligent in her examination and even discovered symptoms the other vets had not. She even took the time to call me personally to explain the results of each test, and offered a payment plan to ease the stress of the unfortunate unavoidable costs of veterinary care. In less than a week we have mostly figured out what is going on inside my sweet girl, and I am comforted by the knowledge and swift action when it came to figuring it all out. I have never felt so trusting of ANY kind of doctor. Whether it's a check up or a major health issue, I would recommend Newport Hills Animal Hospital to everyone. My Lucy was attacked by my neighbors dog this evening. I called Animal Hospital of Newport at 6pm, they said to bring her in and they would see if they could help or they would refer me to an emergency without charge. When I got there, everyone was so friendly and compassionate. They took Lucy back right away. She had to have two staples. The staff was fantastic! Very over-priced. I took my male cat to be neutered last summer. Additionally, we had him de-worm, rabbi shot and microchipped. The bill for the whole thing was around $400. My neighbor took her new female cat elsewhere for spaying. Additionally, they had her de-worm, rabbi shot and microchipped. The bill for the whole thing was less than $250. Been life long loyal customers. Customer service is so-so to hit or miss. I only take my pets to the 24 hour emergency ones by my house if need be. Otherwise I come here. Hopefully their service is still what it use to be or there's several other clinics to choose from. Would recommend. Read Less

Beginning of Feb my Spooky passed after 19 years of companionship. They were concerned for his quality of life, how old he was and what they could do for further testing. I said to go ahead and put him down. They asked if I wanted to be with him, said yes. She left to go get him and all the stuff needed. She came back in said spooky was going to be brought back in but had already died. They gave us a few min with him. The kind folks at this hospital saved spookys life 6 years ago. He swallowed a threaded needle and it ended up going thru his intestines. Surgery was performed, they even took pics, was a success and spooky recovered. I've always taken my pets here. It's affordable, the staff honestly cares about animals and the connection they have with their humans. Very empathetic and the sorrys are genuine. Although I'm in Kirkland I'd drive to Newcastle. These people are the most compassionate and generous loving vets I have ever seen. My cat needed two surgeries to repair a broken leg that could not heal on its own. Every other vet that I saw couldn't help me. My normal vet said they just weren't set up to do this type of surgery and referred me to a couple of vetrinary surgeons and this place. Both of the surgeons wanted 5000 bucks to do the 1st surgery, not including exrays and meds and other expenses. And they wanted to be paid in full before they would do anything. Both of them suggested i just try to find a normal vet that would remove the leg for a more reasonable price. The doctor at The Animal Hospital of Newport Hills was appalled when I told him this. They took my cat in the first time they saw her, kept her comfortable over night with pain killers and did the first surgery the next morning all before even asking for a single dime. All together they charged me $1000 to do both surgeries to repair the leg. (Placing a pin in the bone, then after the bone had healed, removing it again.) This included all expenses, post op appointments, and xrays and everything in between for both surgeries and just in case that wasn't kind enough they allowed me to pay them in monthly installments of 100 dollars. They quite literally rescued my cat and myself. I absolutely would, have, and do recommend them to every pet owner who will listen. I can't praise them enough. Read Less

My cat had crystals a few years ago so we rushed him to his vet. Our prior experiences with checkups had been positive, but this time it felt sleazy. The vet was pushy, manipulative, and gave us a very expensive estimate of the costs. He played on our emotions and made us feel like bad people because we couldn't afford his estimate and didn't want to sign up for his credit card. In between private moments of tears, the nurse came in the room and whispered a suggestion that we go to Newport Hills. And I'm so glad that we did. Every experience with Animal Hospital of Newport Hills has been positive. They are kind and patient and remember our kitty when he returns. When we brought our cat in with crystals, they gave us an estimate that was half of what the other vet had said, and they came in under the cost. I took my cat in February this year to have his skin disease treatment and the vet didn't treat it right and wrongly prescribed Prednisone to my cat. He got heart failure due to that and almost die. He stayed in the animal hospital for 5 day costing me more than $2000. After that the vets said that blood tests needed to done and cost me another $700. Now my cat has to take a lot of drugs to prevent his heart from failure. Last time the Vetmedin prescribed had short expiration date. The animal hospital charged expensive on pet medicine also and they did not admit their faults in causing my cat to have permanent heart problems due to their wrong prescription and did not compensate me for their faults. I've been wanting to write this review, but feel bad writing bad reviews, but this needs to come out. We left our dog for boarding which was like $20 a day because we were going on vacation and didn't want to bother any family member this time, that choice was much regretted. We packed our dog's food and everything and specifically told them that it needed to stay in the fridge since it's freshly made. When we returned from our trip days later, our dog was infected with diarrhea. The vet's response was, "oh your dog must miss you dearly so it developed diarrhea". The hell? We have gone on trips before and when our dog stayed with other people, no problems. Plus, we had our dog for about 10 years and he had never had this problem because we feed him properly. Things happen, but not admitting fault is annoying especially with such a bs excuse. I don't know about you, but when I severely miss someone, I might feel heartbroken, but diarrhea has never been a side effect. Can anybody please tell me if you have gotten diarrhea from missing somebody? Hahaha. Obviously, they didn't fed our dog right and gave him food poison. It was a hassle taking work off to take care of this situation, gave me a headache for days. My boarding bill turned into a bigger bill because I had to get medication for his diarrhea THAT they were responsible for. I still occasionally come in for this and that because it's like the closest veterinarian, but honestly it's overpriced and I could get better answers from Google. Plus, people here aren't the friendliest nor does it have a clean office when it's located in Newcastle.I'm glad there's a new animal hospital that's being built next to QFC so I'll have more options, maybe I'll have a better experience there.Tell me about your experience if you've been here or is going to after reading this review:) Read Less

The staff here are AMAZING, they have taken such loving care of our two dogs, including one ACL surgery. All the staff has been personable, easy to talk to and absolutely more than happy to talk through any questions we have. You can tell they all love animals and handle our dogs wonderfully. I have been taking my pugs to this hospital for over 11 years. They are caring, accessible and affordable. We have had multiple surgeries on both pugs that have gone incredibly well - no complications whatsoever. I never have to wait more than 20 minutes and the walk in feature is nice. I travel from Kent East hill just to see these guys because I haven't found anyone better in all the years I have been living in the South Sound. These guys are pros! Parking is a bit tight but they were around before Newport Hills exploded in growth and they haven't moved locations, so it's to be expected. Overall, I recommend them to everyone who is looking for a good vet.Read Less

Dr Kozenkrans overdosed my 8 pound dog with twice the level of anesthesia during a dental cleaning. Had this happened to an older dog, they probably would not have lived. How can one not weigh a dog before surgery and none the less confuse an 8 pound dog with a 16 pound dog. Read Less

This clinic used to be very good. Care of your pet was number 1. Unfortunately, things have changed...Now it is all about the money. We have been faithful customers for 19 years. Started noticing a change about two years ago. Noticed increased cost and if some of the procedures were really necessary. Every visit started to require blood work and x-rays. The last visit involving our cat went from $600 - $700 to over $1700... Totally understand that initial care is just an estimate and can escalate based on how the pet responds to treatment. In this recent visit, we questioned Dr. Olsen about the charges. Our goal was trying to obtain an understanding for such a dramatic increase in charges. Dr. Olsen became very annoyed that I was even asking and questioned whether I really "cared about my cat". I told her I was not questioning care just wanted to understand the increased expenses. I never had a cat with a blockage problem. Apparently, the cat did remove the urethral catheterisation because they did not fit him with a bucket or collar. This resulted in him needing to be sedated a second time in less then 24 hours and having to tolerate a second Urethral Catheterisation insertion. This at the most critical point in his initial care. logically it would seem that this extended his treatment and delayed his recovery. Dr. Olsen did not agree and questioned that maybe I cared more about the cost and not my cat's health.... Apparently, I was also an irresponsible pet owner for leaving my pet and taking my son to the doctor. I was not around for a proper discussion? I thought we had one over the phone?.....Dr. Olsen continued her abusive verbal attack. Several times I asked her to please stop. As the pet owner, I have the right to be provided an explanation on care and expenses. There was absolutely no need for this to become a negative confrontational experience. Dr. Olsen continued with her negative judgmental attack. Listening skills, genuine concern and compassion are not her forte. Fed up with this one sided discussion, I told her I was going to end the call and not take any more of her bullying abuse. Her response was to hang up. Nice professionalism! I would recommend staying away from Animal Hospital Newport hills. Care of your pet is no longer the primary goal. Now it is all about the money$$$$$$ Read Less

I have been going to this clinic for almost 30 years for both dogs and cats and couldn't be happier. Every one of the vets are top notch professionals who care as much for your feelings as they do for the health of your pet. From the vets to the techs, I always feel like my pets are their first priority and I know they will get the very best of care. The quality of care is apparent in the career longevity of the vets and support staff (which, by-the-way, are wonderful). A Big Thank You to Dr Sheri Belau and the staff of this clinic- she, they were all very caring and terrific in the care, treatment of our dear Shiba Inu, Jiro. She repaired a dog bite wound and did 2 molar extractions expertly. Jiro is quickly recovering and has had no complications to the treatment plan. Day one post-surgery was tough and painful, but after millions of hugs, love rubs and getting Jiro to comply with pain meds, day two Jiro was improving greatly and gaining back his loving, playful personality. Thanks to Erik and Dr Belau's nurse assistant too. This clinic and staff have taken care of 2 of our family dogs, and we will continue to bring our pets back again , again.
