The service is outstanding! Birdie at the front desk is a ready of sunshine that already loves your pet before you even walk in their doors! They were pretty busy when I went in, and I was still on my way home within an hour (busy needed some vaccinations and a check up for an ear infection. This is an absolutely wonderful vet office. I've taken both of my pets and they've received excellent care every time. My older cat had several serious health concerns in the course of two months and everyone, including the front desk, was so kind and welcoming. The care has been pricey, but it is absolutely worth the level of care my believed animals have received. I travel from Langley to Oak Harbor to continue with these wonderful folks. Our first visit to Best Friend's was last week to put down our little 16 year old kitty. We were greeted at the door by name, including our kitty's name. We were immediately taken to a private room and discussed the procedures and how we wanted it handled. The team was very responsive and sympathetic as we bawled our eyes out and the procedure was handled gently by the doctor. This a clinic that cares deeply for the animals and their owners. My cat died very unexpectedly recently, and my husband brought him in on emergency basis, never having been there before. They treated us with sympathy and urgency, and did everything they could to help him. They were very nice, professional and caring. Great service. Always kind and helpful you can tell they love what they do :). They are very friendly. I bring my dog Ellie here she loves it, every time we come they give her treats and make her feel very welcome. She has always been afraid of the vet but seems to really like this one. They have fair pricing. They even send you a postcard With your animal's face on it to remind you when your dog, is a need of a check up. It's always a good experience when I come. I have many complaints about this veterinary office, but my biggest are the price, incompetence, and lack of communication. The short story- I paid $70 on a Wednesday to see a vet for my dog's vomiting simply to be told to continue what I already had been doing (that's right, it's $70 just to see a vet). Saturday evening, her vomiting turned into diarrhea. First thing Monday morning I called updating the office on her condition. The vet on staff that day ordered a fecal lab and I promptly brought a sample in. The next day I still had not heard anything, so I called and was told, "It looks great, everything came back negative. Do you have any questions?" I informed the office my dog still had untreated diarrhea. A note was left for a vet to get back to me... the next day. At this point, I took my dog elsewhere. I paid $140 over 5 days and received absolutely no treatment or medication for my dog. The staff poorly communicates among each other and your contact with a vet is minimal, resulting in slow and misinterpreted communications. Save your money and time by driving to a veterinary clinic in Coupeville or Anacortes that will actually treat your pet. Read Less

Sell, sell, sell, is the motto of this facility, and really do they need to be pushing every extra treatment, shot, or medication on you when they are the most expensive vet in the area? Some of the vets are very rough in their handling of the animals and I am not comfortable taking my four legged family member to a place where they are treated as a payday and not a patient. The staff began by being friendly, but was warned by the Trainee that the head Vet would probably want to re-do all the vacinnes we had already received for our puppy. I politely listened when they recommended $230 of bills for our initial visit, then said thanks, but we'll just get one thing. Then I was bereated for endangering mine and every other animal on the planet for not falling in line. Very demeaning, very negative experience. I guess friendliness and customer service (yes I'm a customer) costs extra. ***UPDATE*** After the posting of this review, Best Friend's Veterinary Center has made every effort to apologize and rectify the situation to the best of their ability. Dr. Brabant and the team at Best Friends Veterinary Center are simply amazing! We have an almost 9 year old Pibble named Libby who is in remission from Mammory Cancer. Dr. Brabant has been seeing her for about a year now, picking up where our Oncologist, Dr. LaDue in FL left off. She has been going every 3-6 months for check ups and medications and we have always been treated very very well. Tonight we had a big scare with our Big Girl. She was having trouble breathing and wheezing. My husband called me (on deployment) and I called the vet while he was getting her ready to leave the house. It was 15 min until closing and they gladly saw Libby. After working to get her stabilized for over 2 hours she was finally stable enough to be driven to the Mount Vernon Emergency Vet. The staff went ABOVE AND BEYOND tonight to help Libby. Not only did they stay hours after closing, they saved her life and we are forever grateful. Read Less

I am happily giving a recommendation for Best Friends Vet. I brought my dog Radar, we saved from the streets in Roanoke Va. Radar has bbeen through a lot, with getting a new family, which he never had, moving across the country and experiencing a lot of anxiety. I've been so worried over his well fare and managing the difficulties that come with a stray animal. After moving to Oak Harbor I found Best Friends on the web. I made an appointment and went in.Radar was incredibly not anxious or acting out at all. They were polite and professional, but treated my dog specially and thoughtfully. My vet was incredible, giving Radar his shots quickly and painlessly. I was really worried about this. He recommended to me a few things that have worked already, to my amazement. I feel positive now about Radar's future, and that he will be well taken care of. It's hard to trust someone with your furry soul mate, but I'm so happy to have them. Read Less

I took my cat here after hearing reviews on how affordable it was but I was wrong. I went in for a first time new patient check up for my cat. The staff was nice and friendly but I wish they would have told me that it was going to cost extra for every single thing I had a question on such as taking a look into my cats eye under uv light. Best Friend's vet is the best veterinary clinic that I have ever been to. Ever since my dog was a puppy I have been bringing him to this clinic. It is a little pricey, but it really is all worth it. They take great care of pets. The doctors and the staff members are all nice and are really out there to help. My family and I recently moved to Japan from Oak Harbor and we needed a lot of help with all the requirements to bring our chocolate lab over. Ken the manager at best friend's vet center really went out of his way to help us out, and he pretty much took care of everything. He also did his best to get me the best price for everything. The service was efficient, friendly, and thorough. I actually enjoyed my experience and the visit was very affordable. The staff was amazing; I did not feel rushed and they did everything to make sure my pet was fully taken care of. I will now be bringing all three of my pets to this location from now on. I recently went through the sudden and tragic loss of my dog. The staff and doctors at Best Friends assisted in bring her pain and suffering to an end. They were endlessly kind and patient with me as I struggled with the decision to end my dogs life. They gave me all the space and time to say goodbye, and afforded me every courtesy / understand during my many emotional outbursts. I was a crying mess most of my time at their facility. While it will be a good bit of time before I have reason to seek their business, due to mourning alone, I would give them my highest recommendation to any pet owner. The only negative thing that can possibly be said is they had bereavement flowers delivered to my house hours after my dogs death. If my only issue is that they expediently sent me something to celebrate my dog and her life, those are problems worth having! Thank you again for all your work. Read Less
