I don’t really understand the negative reviews. Have never had anything except positive experiences here. Asked around to everyone I knew who had animals prior to bringing our new puppies home and everyone recommended North Whidbey Vet. About 4 days after we brought home 8 week old puppies one of them became very sick and they got him in and well right away. His brother got sick a couple weeks later and they got him in and well and saved me money telling me which over the counters I could use. A couple weeks later when we were doing routine shots their card machine was down. They got my pups their shots on schedule and let us come back to pay when the machine was up. This place is always booked and I think that speaks more than these negative comments say. Will keep taking my puppies here. Thank you North Whidbey Vet for keeping my pups healthy! Read Less

I have tried Dr Anderson's vet clinic on hwy 20 and the only thing I will say is what a rip off they will hold your pet for ransom and the bill grows larger each day Dr M. At north whidbey has saved several of our pets over the last 18 years he has wired my dogs broken jaw emergency after hours and accepted $80.00 because that's all the money we had at the time and he could see how much we cared for our animals. We haven't had any problems for several years until Monday Dec 11 when i accidently stepped on my girlfriends cat separating her jaw and tearing the skin off both sides of her jaw it had been 5 or 6 years since I had been to him but he accepted our cat reset her jaw and pinned it back in place and is currently doing everything possible to reattach the skin. So ill say this if you had a bad experience bringing your pet to him that's unfortunate but put your self in his shoes he sees all the bad things that happen to our family members that cannot tell the doctor where it hurts he has to diagnose the problem and as far as I can tell he has been 100% right each time I have brought an animal to him he even came out and climbed in the back of my truck to administer a shot to my black lab that refused to go in the office. So if you love your animals like he loves animals why would you go anywhere else. And now that I am older and financially stable I will gladly pay forward for what he has done for me in the past. And still save thousands over what I would be charged elsewhere. Thanks Doc. Read Less

My now almost 10 year old Goldie had been seen by Heidi (mostly) since I got her at the age of 5 weeks; I left for 19 months to help my daughter while my son-in-law was on deployment and when I came back they were no longer taking "new clients". If you haven't been seen in a year you're now new. How rude and unprofessional can you get? Being that Heidi was the only one worth taking my baby to, I can't imagine them being so busy now they can no longer afford to take new (or previous) clients, but for whatever reason they have, let the chips fall where they may. You know, customer service goes a LONG way. I hate to leave a review like this becasue Dr. Mangamelli has always treated me well and really seems like a good guy. I have taken a few of my pets to him over the years and its always been easy, informative, and just an all around good experience. However, my most recent experience on the phone today, kinda pissed me off. I had an appt that I missed about a month ago due to me going out of town. I just got back and decided to pick up where i left off. The receptionist that I spoke with was rude, impatient, and acted as though my missed appt affected her paycheck. Her attitude just lost them my business, which in this case was about $400 (maybe not a lot of money to Dr. Mangamelli but he lost my present and possibly my future business/endorsements because of this).Remember, its serving the customer, not the other way around. Your job is to serve the customer and in doing so, creates an enviroment the customers will respect and respond to favorably. The opposite, in this case, results in loss of business. Again, Dr. Mangamelli is a nice guy and this isnt fair to him nor reflecting of him personally. This is about his receptionist and her lack of professionalism in a professional environment. Perhaps he should record the phone calls to make sure his customers are being treated resplectfully. Maybe next time, the receptionist, will keep the phone call professional and leave her attitude at home, where it belongs. Read Less

Without a doubt the best vet I have ever worked with in the entire time I've had pets. Dr. Mangiamelli not only saved my guinea pig and my mini-horse when she contracted collick, but any time we have had to sadly say goodbye to any of our pets they have been beyond caring and understanding and sensitive to how hard it can be on us as the owners to make that decision. The ladies who run the front desk are very friendly and a delight to talk to, making every visit pleasant from the get-go. These people know what they're doing, I absolutely reccomend them above any other vet here on Whidbey Island. Read Less

My mom took her cat in today to be put to sleep. He is old, has cancer, and failing kidneys. This place has been caring for him for months. Removing the cancer and hydrating him. My mom called me this morning to let me know she had dropped him off for the last time and that she wasn't going to stay because it was too hard. I called the vet to find out what time they would be performing the procedure to see if I could come be with him. Say goodbye. The receptionist advised me that they don't normally have you there when they do it (?), and that the staff had all formed a very strong connection with him, so i shouldn't worry. While I am glad that in the MONTHS that they have been caring for him they have formed a connection, I found that response to be completely selfish and insensitive. We got the cat when I was 14. You think I don't have a connection with him? Maybe I wanted to be there for him. And to have a chance to say goodbye. But no. Apparently the staff's connection with a family's pet is more important than that of the family itself. I cried, left work, and ran home to snuggle my puppy and reassure him that I would never let him go through that alone when the time comes, and will never take him to a vet that thinks their bond with my animal is stronger or more important than my own. BEWARE - I was at my in laws house for the evening & their puppy fell on the hardwood floor & broke every bone in her paw. It was 7pm on a Saturday so we didn't have alot of Veterinary choices as far as what was open. Puppy was crying, couldnt walk, and needed to be seen, so I went online to google some places and came across this one. We called, spoke to a gentleman and he said he could be there ASAP so we drove there. $150 for the visit for him to basically say "I dont know what is wrong with her and we should wait to see if it gets better within a few days". They took her home, and she suffered in pain for 2 days. Monday morning, they called, and took her back in. That's when they did the X-Ray and found all the broken bones in her paw. They wrapped up her entire leg in a "cast". The cast was basically medical tape, wrapped tightly around her. It was done SO poorly. Her hand got so infected that she had to get rushed to another vet, and they could not believe how horrible this cast was. She could have lost her leg! Not to mention they said that the level/kind of drugs they had given her was practically lethal for her size. Worst case of vet malpractice I have ever encountered. The guy when we got there, didnt even seem like a licensed vet. He was wearing sweats & sweatpants and a beanie. Granted it was Saturday evening, but still. It was a disaster inside. Messy, dirty - HORRIBLE. Biggest mistake! Thank god we found care in time to save the puppies leg, and maybe even her life! Read Less

We have been taking all of our little critters to Dr. Magimelli since 1996! I wouldnt dare take them anywhere else. His technician Holly has been running the show up front since the mid 1990s and has always been incredibly friendly, even when we call 5 minutes before our appointment to report that our cat took a flight to hawaii after see the kennel for the vet visit..The affordable prices allow us to bring our pets in whenever we have a concern, I know that many people sometimes avoid treating their animals because of how expensive it can be. We had two cats declawed here (less than $200 for both cats! That includes a couple days recuperating in the clinic) all of our pets neutered here of course, and one dog who had major surgery to remove cancer who later had to be put to rest. A typical next-day office visit is only $45 (as of April 2015) Dr. M (who unfortunately doesnt seem to do office visits now that they are so busy) doesnt mess around and his two newer vets are equally as great. He once asked me when I got a new kitten what type of food I was feeding him. When I mentioned the generic Walmart brand, he was all like "Thats crap! Would you eat that crap? Dont give that to your cat. These are better options. If you cant afford to buy them from me then here are some places that carry it."  5 stars for affordability and quality of care. Very thorough office visits, nobody is trying to rush you out despite how busy they can be. Highly reccomend if you are new the island and need a safe place to take your animals. Read Less

I had just got into town from a 7 day road trip with my dog. We're from Fl & just moved here. The climate is obviously a lot different from where were from. My dog got sick within days of being here. I called at 12:45 & they had me in for an appointment at 1:15. My dog is Pitbull/lab/boxer mix & she is skittish. I told them this prior to coming in!!!! She was growling slightly here & there, but I couldn't blame her the last 7 days had been hell and I had her in a new place where it was freezing. I WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW I EXPLAINED THIS TO THE LADY AT THE FRONT DESK!!! I even told her that if need be I could muzzle her if they felt uncomfortable (vet tech or vet). The lady said don't worry about it when you get here we will put you in a room. With that being said she was slightly growling here & there at the lady at the front desk. As she walked me into the room she says they probably won't see her if she continues to do that! Gave me a nasty look & walked away. On top of that when I called prior I asked the lady if they took checks she said yes! I go to pay by check & she then decides to tell me that they don't take Navy Federal Checks & she always forgets that.... By that time I was thinking you've got to be kidding me?!?!?!? Thank god I had my other bank card on me in the car. THE ONE GOOD THING about the place was the woman vet that I saw was patient with my dog. She let her smell her and and come up to her on her own before taking a look at her! I REALLY LIKED THE VET! Although I don't know if it's quite worth going back & having to deal with the ditsy/rude/forgetful girl that works up front! 4 stars only for the vet. If I could rate them separately the lady working the front would get absolutely nothing! Read Less

We setup an appointment to have a quick transfer of care from our vet in Rhode Island.  Assessment was consistent with previous which was good. Since the initial meeting in March, our pup has settled well and some infections have been cured up.  Still seems like we make a weekly trip for medications, but it comes with our dogs condition (heart murmur).Often the front desk can be crazy and can be prone to forgetfulness, but again the care is good. I'm amazed that no one has reviewed this clinic.  It's been around for well over a decade.  Not only is it a clinic where one can take their domesticated pets, Dr. Mangiameli also travels to treat local farm animals.  The office is small and old, sometimes you have to wait a while, but the staff is great.  I'd recommend Dr. Iverson and Dr. Mangiameli above the rest.  Nothing like supporting a local, community establishment! And, on top of everything else, they are some of the most compassionate people.  Years ago we had a horrible streak of sicknesses and even death with a few of our cats.  We ran up bills in the thousands over just a couple months, and there was no way to keep up with them.  They were so understanding, and allowed us to make payments until the sum was paid off.  I can't say enough about them. It's worth the extra money to go somewhere your pets aren't getting beat and abused. I'm honestly amazed they're still in business.

Read Less

3.5 stars. Doc Iverson sees a lot of pets, but the care is good.
