I would give it no stars if that was an option. My usual vet, Minter Veterinarian Hospital, could not see my pet who was attacked by another dog day same day, so I went to Kitsap Veterinary Hospital because they had an opening. They kept me waiting 40 minutes past my appt. time. When I was told an assistant was getting my room ready for my pet's exam, another regular in the lobby said "that doesn't mean anything." I noticed they had more products for sale than any other vet I have every seen. I noticed the receptionist promoting some sort of cat calming product in the lobby. While the vet was examining my dog, and withing the first 20 seconds, the vet started promoting a flea/tick/heart worm product called Trifexis. "I have talked to vets all over the country and they say the topical products just aren't working anymore. We recommend Trifexis." My dogs wounds being very superficial, the vet looked at her teeth. 2 weeks prior my dog had been seen by Minter Veterinarian Hospital (Dr. Jeffry Irwin) who told me the dog had 2 broken off teeth, but they were not abscessed and did not need to be removed at this time. The vet at Kitsap Vet Hosp. told me they were abscessed (she showed me the area and it looked just fine to me) and were likely causing her pain (she has been chewing on rawhides in those spots like crazy, so I don't think so!). She recommended surgery on the 2 teeth to remove them. And of course she would need to do x-rays, she might as well clean the teeth as long as she is under anesthesia, and, of course, she would need to do blood work before surgery, so we might as well do that today. Then she left the room for the up sale that the poor medical assistant's job is to do. I was then presented with a "Comprehensive Yearly Maintenance dog plan" to cover 2 wellness exams plus 2 additional visits, core vaccinations recommended, intestinal parasite fecal exam, deworming for roundworms, hookworms & whipworms, heartworm test, blood cell count, internal organ functioning screen with collection/interpretation fees, thyroid screen, urinalysis with cystocentesis, comprehensive oral treating for $983.40 with a 1 time membership fee of $49.95. This isn't even my regular vet! Next I was presented with an estimate of $297.81 for Trifexis. Like I have ever spent anywhere NEAR that on flea protection for a pet! Then I was presented with a tooth removal estimate of $2,016.86, and of course we need to do the blood work before I leave the clinic today of $229.35. I took the papers and went to the front desk to check out. I said I intend to pay for today's services only. At that point the medical assistant came to the front desk and asked if I was ready to do the blood work. I said no. Just in case the Kitsap vet was correct that the teeth were abscessed, I then had to spent another vet fee at my regular vet in the next couple of days to find out whether or not they were abscessed. Dr. Irwin at Minter said they were not abscessed. Thanks Kitsap Vet Hosp. for the lie, the additional vet bill you caused me to have to incur, and the attempt at getting $3,577.37 out of a client who isn't even a regular client all on the first visit to your clinic! You will never see another dime from me again. STAY AWAY FROM THIS VET! THEIR GOAL IS TO EMPTY YOUR BANK ACCOUNT! I AM DEEPLY DISGUSTED! Read Less
