Dr. Farris has been our family vet for over 20 years. He's always been kind and made suggestions for the benefit of the pet and not his bottom line. And to address another review that rated him poorly for closing for a couple hours for "lunch" i am sorry you were dealing with a loved pet near the end and having to put a family pet down is always a terrible and stressful time, the reality is that dr Farris does calls to farms etc during those "lunch" hours. So he may not be available and if you need something more immediate during those times taking your pet elsewhere may be the best suggestion. Hope that helps. Great Vet. This old fashioned vet has affordable prices and does not try to sell you 'extras'. Everyone, especially Dr. Farris, is warm, compassionate, and really listens to your individual circumstances. Since I've explained in the beginning that I am extremely poor, but want to give my pets the best possible care, they have kept that in mind, and helped me make the most appropriate choices, but they also are responsive and able to provide that 'top-shelf' care, for those fortunate enough to afford it. I have utilized many vets over the years, and (aside from retired Dr Bean from Skyway), he is my favorite. I could not recommend them enough!Read Less

Both of our dogs are seen here. Farris isn't around the bush, straight to the point, and gets the job done. My in laws have seen him for over 15 years.It's nice that the office doesn't feel like a typical animal hospital and feels like home. We have been clients of Farris vet clinic for the last 10 years. We have two cats and had two dogs. Our oldest dog who was 14 had been having issues lately. My husband called the office telling them he wasn't doing good and possibly would need to be put down but he couldn't get there by the 12:00pm lunch close time possibly. He was told he probably should take our dog elsewhere! We were floored that they would be so heartless to tell him this when we were longstanding customers. We obviously we never take the rest of our animals back not will we recommend them. While we understand hours of operation to close for several hours for lunch is a joke and then to tell a customer to take their dying pet elsewhere because they might be a couple minutes past their lunchtime close is ridiculous. Dr. Farris is very knowledgeable,caring,practical, and is personable, to people and pets. Yet also extremely professional. Reminds me of the guy in all creatures great and small. Im a blue collar type and i like that he wears carhartt pants and romeos. The preffered garb of many professional blue collar workers. His prices are super reasonable. Farris Veterinary Clinic had been highly recommended to me for years by three of my friends; however, I thought the distance from my residence was too great. Meanwhile, I was not happy with my current and local veterinarian of 20 years, yet remained loyal until a botched surgery ended with fatal results. After some online research that same week, I visited Dr. Farris and his staff to transfer the care of my remaining pets and have been more than pleased with their care, treatments, ongoing therapy, genuine courtesy and family like atmosphere. My youngest dog is a 4 year old mini Dachshund with particular physical issues of which the staff has valuable knowledge and personal experience in treating similar cases. With fellow Dachshund owners as staff members, I knew we were now in the best of hands! Big or small, dog, cat, bird or otherwise, your pets will be in great care at Farris Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Farris is very caring and genuinely loves animals. We will take our precious fur babies to him for as long as he is practicing medicine. He's always conscious of trying to save us money on office visits by not conducting expensive and unnecessary treatments or tests. For example, we took our dog to Buckley Vet about 2 years ago and they charged us $30 to look at our dogs skin flakes under a microscope and see if there was any flea dirt (poop) visible. Dr. Farris just gave the dogs belly a scratch and squirted water on the stuff that came off. The water ran red indicating evidence of fleas and so the test was effective and involved no silly extra charge. I was amazed and a little ticked that I'd spent so much at Buckley to have the results be inconclusive. Farris' clinic is a great place to take your animals! Read Less

I love the entire Farris family team! They are patient, kind and make you feel welcomed and relaxed. Dr. Farris took such loving care of my 19-year-old kitty, especially in her final weeks of life. It was a very difficult time for me and I really appreciated his & everyone else's care and concern for me and my best friend. Going to the vet had always been a super stressful event in the past, but once I found Dr. Farris, our whole experience changed. Now I have 2 new baby kittens and he's welcomed them in with just as much enthusiasm. :) The property is also awesome with it's house cats & peacock! Read Less

We have been taking our animals to Dr. Farris for over 22 years. He is extremely reasonable in price. Probably the best thing about this vet is his common sense and reasoning with our animals. He is compassionate and caring and realistic. Over those 22 years he has had to assist us with putting down our very sick animals and performed this with such compassion. We have been taking our dogs to Dr. Farris and his staff since 1996, and I must say that I have always been pleased with the care that he has given our three dogs. He is very knowledgeable, and good at explaining things, yet straight to the point. He has been a good provider and care-giver during various pet ailments: bladder cancer, doggie dementia, a beagle with a bad back, an owie tail from falling out of a tree, skin problems and of course, teeth-cleaning. Dr. Farris is a skilled practitioner, yet cost-aware. In our latest excursion into pet health problems, he diagnosed our elderly dog with cancer. After doing research online, I asked him a particular cancer treatment. He knew all about the medication, but was up-front enough to tell me that it was expensive, and would require frequent, costly blood work.During the two instances in which we had to put our canine family members "to sleep," staff was very compassionate.  I would recommend Dr. Farris and staff to anyone. I used to work at an emergency vet clinic and have taken my pets to multiple places since working at that clinic and this is by far the best one I've been to!! The dr. is genuinely concerned about what is best for the animals rather than making loads of money on his customers. He gets your animals in and out quickly and doesn't charge you an arm and a leg for an exam. He gives you options for medications (cost vs. variations of meds) and doesn't over medicate your animals. He's honestly the best vet I've ever worked with. Really recommend anyone that lives anywhere close to give him a try. If I ever move again I will make the drive no matter how far!! Read Less
