Most of the staff are friendly but, last checkup I had to wait 45 minutes past my scheduled appointment to see a vet. I am not a patient person and my dog is high strung so, waiting is an issue.

South Hill was an absolute life saver for us. We recently moved to the area four weeks ago and have not yet found a primary vet for our dogs. We encountered an emergency situation in which one of our dogs needed surgery. We were trying to avoid an emergency hospital mostly because we want the best care of our dogs but also to try and avoid crazy prices. In less than one day we were able to see Dr. Larson for the surgery. He and the technicians went out of their way to help us and we could not be more grateful. From phone calls well past their closing time to ask/answer my questions to shuffling around schedules to fit in the surgery that was not planned, we for forever thankful for them. Thank you, South Hill, for helping my family.

Have been taking my dog here for almost 4 years . The staff used to be very nice but recently my experiences with the receptionist has been HORRIBLE. No professionalism at all and rude. Three weeks ago I needed an appointment for my pet to have his ear checked and the lady mentioned she would call me back only for me to just stop my and mentioning she was just going to call me to tell me there is no openings (4 hours later ). The Doctors are nice I admit. There is also so many fees for everything & they do not go over these with you before they are done . Transferring somewhere else .

I wish I could give this 0 stars. I called in desperate need for quick advice, I’m puppy sitting and needed to know if a scratch is fine for a puppy to have or if I need to take him in to be checked. All the woman would say is she’s legally bound to not give me advice and that no vet I call will help me and I should “call a friend who owns dogs” first off, I own dogs. Not puppies. I’m not familiar with how a young puppy will handle a simple scratch from another dog. This woman was so rude and admitted that she doesn’t have any vet knowledge and can’t answer. I begged her to please at least tell me if I should bring him in, to please be a decent human and want to help a 4month old puppy and concerned sitter. She would not. I’ll admit, I was extremely angry. The cops aren’t going to come and arrest her for being a decent human and advising on a simple issue over the phone. Sure enough, I called River Road Vet in Puyallup, and right away they reassured me that everything is okay. They gave me symptoms to look out for. They even offered to set up an appointment to check out the scratch. They advised that scratches can appear more red in the healing process and as long as I’m cleaning/monitoring it and it isn’t swollen it should be okay. Bottom line, these people clearly don’t care about the wellbeing of animals. Any decent human would at least attempt to give any sort of help. Evil.

We made the switch to South Hill Vet just recently when we were quoted an inordinate amount for dental work for our Schnauzer by another local vet. South Hill Vet was super up-front and honest about pricing and what might need to be done during his procedure. They did amazing work, kept me informed the entire time, followed up with us to check on him, AND it was far less in price than we were expecting. I'm very impressed with the level of care my dog received and I feel like their prices are fair. I think we've found our new vet!

I have been bringing my animals here for a few years now and never really had a problem until now . The vets are all great but the receptions are rude to other customers and even the other employees. I have also heard bad things about the vet assistants here . Will be going some where else from now on.

I've been with South Hill veterinary clinic since 2009 but I noticed that their quality of care has dramatically changed. Recently my animals have gotten tapeworms and I went in about a month earlier and got medications for all three of my animals for a different type of worm, round worms and got it without having all of them to be seen but at this point when I went in today I asked the doctor to do the same thing if she could refill my prescriptions since I have been spending so much money there and the one I brought in was infected over the last month I've spent around $500. What really frustrates me is that she said she couldn't do it because there was no documentation of them giving my animals the treatment for the month before and right there that just confirmed everything for me if they can't even keep the right documentation I'm not going to entrust you with my animals.

I liked how friendly the staff was, but very disappointed with a charge they had me pay fro my cat. I took my cat in back in July because he seemed very disoriented. This was his first visit to this clinic, so they suggested a bunch of tests. Luckily, I had all my previous paperwork from his past clinics showing all the tests they did and vaccines. Anyway, the veterinarian suggested we give my cat the Feline Leukemia test. I told him that I'm pretty certain that he already had that test done and it was negative. He looked (quickly) over my paperwork and supposedly didn't see it. So since I was stressed about the current state of my cat, I said "Ok, let's do the test" so we can try to rule out things. I go to sit in the waiting room, and I'm thinking to myself that I really thought that test sounded familiar. So, I looked over my paperwork again and saw that he indeed received the Feline Leukemia test at another clinic (and I'm sure it was negative). I went up to the receptionist and told her about the situation and asked her if she could tell them to stop before they did the test. Well, she goes in the back and talks to staff about my cat and the test. She comes back out and tells me that it's too late to stop it and since the paperwork doesn't state that it was a negative test, it's better to do it. SO that was $50 something I had to pay extra, and the vet wouldn't budge on that charge. I spent almost $300 on tests to tell me they still didn't know what was wrong with my cat.

We had taken our sweet Boxer girl here for 8 years. She always was treated with kindness and love. The few times she even needed the vet she was always a model patient. I think she was at ease every visit because all of the staff are so caring and have our pets best interest in mind. The prices for care are very fairly priced. The lobby is clean and comforting. We sadly had to put our Boxer down last night and their support was terrific. By giving us some alone time with our girl and settling everything in the room so we could just leave after we said our goodbyes. Just wanted to say a big thank you to South Hill Veterinary Hospital for always being there for us. Should we ever welcome another pet, we will definitely be back! Thanks again!

They told us he was "perfectly healthy" - we did not receive a copy of his tests until after he died, very painfully in our arms, a month later. SOP for an older male, indoor cat is almost always a kidney panel. Which was NOT run. His sister will never cross this "vet's" threshold.

So one of my dogs is a puppy and I guess one of the shots wasn't done twice so fine to pay for the shot but also a vet visit when I'm boarding them there and not going to be at the visit she just had a vet visits before we moved three months ago and no one said she needed the shot redone there but maybe they missed it. So I paid it to the rude girl who was annoyed that I was annoyed at paying a vet visit when I'm boarding my dog. I paid $148 for it all and she said I paid in full and all I had to do was come and get my dogs when we were back. But no go get them and I owe more money for a vet visit and I said I paid in full the girl said no she didn't charge you right. So now I'm freaking pissed and paid because I was too tired to fight it no apologies no nothing and they x-rayed my dog with out asking me at this freaking visit so I don't know if it was to cover that fee which no one even asked to do. Needless to say I will never be back. The girls at the front are super rude and apparently not trained very well.

I've been here three times now and had a different vet each time. The front desk staff is always very cheerful and sweet to my old lady. All three vets we've seen have been great. I am big into holistic healing and they have never mocked me for that or the vegan diet my dog is on. They have never pushed vaccines or products on me. They are always very kind, professional and patient with my questions and concerns. It's almost a 30 minute jaunt for me to get there but it's a great place and worth it. Yesterday was a long appointment but I never get hustled out or cut short. We will continue be loyal patrons.

I've been coming to this establishment for years and most recently have seen a severe decline in the quality of care. Mis-diagnosis of my dog and expensive meds she didn't need. Got my dogs back sick from boarding them for 5 days. They "forgot" to give my dogs the shots they took him to be back for? Waited 45 mins past my appointment time without any communication from the staff. Brought my dog in for a "wellness check", vet on duty missed his enlarged lymph nodes but made sure to tell the rest of the staff that our dog was crazy... I can't keep looking past these issues. Things need to change, so we did! To another vet and facility entirely. As a fur mom, I couldn't in good conscience continue to take my dogs to a facility staffed by people that I have no faith in.

We recently moved to the area and hadn't found a vet for our pets yet. Our lab mix Russell got into some trouble last weekend with a barbwire fence and needed immediate care... on a Sunday. South Hill was one of the only vet hospitals open, they took him in right away, fixed his wound and we were on our way home with Russell within 30 minutes. The employees are very knowledgeable, great customer service, and a decent price. This is now Our new vet!

I was completely frustrated with this establishment when I specifically stated beforehand that I did not want to use their pharmacy. The vet had a script filled and my card got charged and they wouldn't do anything to correct the issue. All they would tell me as that I wouldn't find meds cheaper anywhere else and that they couldn't be returned once they were filled. I will not be recommending this place to any of my fellow pet owners.

Being a former veterinary receptionist I did a lot of research before bringing my pets to this clinic. That being said, I had a 6 year old Boxer who was acting dramatically unusual. I called ahead to see if they could fit her in same day and they were able to stay late (after closing) to diagnose and treat her! They spent 2 hours with her and my husband trying to figure out what was wrong. After they came to a conclusion she was sent home with meds and bloodwork was sent to the lab. The dr called me daily to check on her (most clinics make the vet techs or receptionists do this). The dr even sent me pdfs of the reports and labs, as requested. After she finished her meds she was back to normal. Then things got bad again, we knew it was a possibility after the findings. We took her in for a euthanasia, I wasn't ready to let her go due to her acting normal as soon as we walked in. The dr asked if we wanted to try another test and we did. She was sent home with more meds. About 3 weeks later she was back in bad shape so I called to get a refill on meds they were fast with the approval and fill. But about 20 minutes after my phone call she passed away in my arms (to cardiomyopathy, we knew she had limited time left. They did everything they could to lengthen it, they gave her 5 extra weeks of life). I called to request a drop off for cremation. They had to stay open late again to do this for us. Overall we could've been charged thousands and they gave us discounts and treated us fantastically. Other vets refused to set a emergency walk in appointment. I called every clinic in south hill. We recently got another boxer puppy who has been seen twice once for a scheduled puppy exam/vax and again for a eye injury. The eye injury was a last minute emergency visit they made time to see us and didn't refuse service. Not to mention this was on a weekend, the busiest day in any vet clinic. She was sent home with the meds I requested and is 100% better. Overall this facility is amazing!

We did some shopping around before we found our permanent vet. The first thing that stuck out to me about this location is how clean and sanitary it is on the inside. We have two miniature dachshunds that we bring in for all shots and check ups and the employees treat them as if they are their own. My dogs get nervous around most people, but attack the ladies that work at the front desk with kisses each time we come in. I genuinely feel that they want what is best for my pets and I think that my dogs know it too! The only thing I have to complain about is that they don't do many walk ins and you generally have to make appointments for everything (probably because everyone else knows how good they are as well). This only becomes a concern if something happens to one of my pets and he or she needs immediate attention. I would rather go to these guys than a doggie hospital any day of the week.Other than that, your search for a good vet ends here!

We moved to the Puyallup area about 6 years ago and had to find a new vet to take care of our pets. After trying 2 or 3 others in the areas, we settled on South Hill Vet. Why? Friendly staff, quality pet care, and a reasonable price! Are they the cheapest? Not always (sometimes!), but they will also work with you on price if you're on a tight budget. They are good to give you "budget based options" if you let them know you need them. They have handled 4 cats and an elderly dog for us so far. They literally helped us save our then 11 year old doggie about 2 years ago and she continues to thrive. The care for our dog became quite regular for a time, and they were very accommodating during that time. They even helped us once with a chicken. Definitely worth a consultation. Great people.

So I have been here 2 times and twice my appointment has been re-schedule, its not a big deal becsuse I only bring my rabbit for a nail trim, but it is just rather annoying to have to change plans, that is why us a minus star. Other than that the staff is always super friendly, the place is clean and spacious, I have never seen it crowded but it gets busy on Sundays which is the days that we always visit. They have a few supplies and items for sale mostly for cats and dogs. I like this place a lot totally recommend it compare to other vets in the area.

Thank you for treating my cat Sam with more respect than I have seen given to people at hospitals. Although he was too sick and passed away, Dr Larson gave me constant updates on his condition did everything he could for him. The staff was very helpful in getting him ready to come home to us to be laid to rest. I highly recommend South Hill Veterinary to anybody whose pets are more than just pets, but members of the family.

What a wonderful place to go to for any veterinary needs! It's always such great service when we go in. They're super great with the animals and are always explaining the process when they're in the room looking over your pet. Today in particular when I took my cat in, they didn't force certain medication on me, even though it was an option. They explained to me the differences between the two and the benefits of each medication but did not force me one way or the other. Their prices seem reasonable, although I think vet visits are always expensive. From the front desk all the way to the actual veterinarian coming to check on our pet, we get an over the top, wonderful experience. They also can typically get you in for a same day appointment. If you're in the area, bring your animal here. You won't be disappointed.

We made the heart breaking decision to put our dog to sleep after suffering 1-4 seizures a day for a week! We had originally gone to Value Pet Clinic and been giving false hope on our situation and a suggestion of running more and more tests. We both strongly felt it was a brain tumor and decided we should not delay the inevitable by trying more and more tests.SHVH was so compassionate and sympathetic over our situation. They knew we loved our dog and knew this was such a heart wrenching situation and decision that we were making. We explained the seizures and some of her changes and instantly the vet said, it sounds like she has a brain tumor. It was comforting to hear that she agreed with us and that we were not just making the decision to end her life if there was hope with medication. We, the vet and vet tech all sat on blankets on the floor. Surrounding my dog with hugs and let her go. She went peacefully in 30 seconds. The vet again gave condolences and with tears in her own eyes showed us how to exit through a hallway instead of the lobby. The vet also provided us with a picture book, "Every Dog Has An Angel" and an imprint of my dogs paw. We opted for the group cremation and instead of disposing of the ashes, the vet scatters the ashes over a commencement bay. It was so comforting to have such a warm staff help us through this difficult process and that they offered extra touches to help you heal. We will definitely be using this as our primary vet with our other dog. Thank you so much for caring!

We did not have an appt on a very busy Saturday, and they fit us in. Our Golden Retriever's allergies were really acting up w/the springtime weather in Washington. When Dr. Dewitt came into the exam room, our Golden just started talking to her. It was so funny! Anyway, she put him on antibiotics, short-term steroids, & ear drops for his first-time ear infection. He is doing so much better. When he gets done w/his prescriptions, Dr. Dewitt suggested we try Zyrtec (Benadryl & Claritin didn't help him). I will definitely be back w/our other dog & cat when their shots are due.I'm updating my review after returning a couple more times w/both dogs. I need to find a Vet that does not gouge the pet owner w/$40+ exam fees every time you come in, and it would be really nice if they also offered a low-cost clinic for vaccinations the 1st Saturday of every month. The biggest reason I'm not going back to South Hill Vet Hospital though is they want between $400-$540 to extract one of Casey's teeth. Are you kidding me???

This unfortunately was probably one of the worst veterinarian experiences I've had ever since I've had my dog. We were recommended to go here by semi very kind and caring people however the experience that I received was not one of which I would recommend anybody. When I arrived I had an appointment set for 11 AM however I was there for approximately 30 minutes before I was even seen by anybody. In addition to that my dog had something going on with his skin and before even explaining what they were planning on trying to do or accomplish they took my dog to the back and proceeded to preform God knows what on him. The worst part about it all is when they brought him back to me he was worse then when he came in. The text and the veterinarian obviously didn't know what to do with me at the time that they brought my dog back because he explained for me to go up to the counter and pick up my prescriptions for my dog however the front desk I have no prescriptions available for me at that time. Long story short it was extremely disorganized and unreliable. The veterinarian didn't explain anything about the medications that were provided to me nor did they explain as to how my dog it could have encountered this skin infection. I felt more like a number than anything there and I don't feel like they cared about me or my dog just our money. And let me just say it was a costly visit.

I realized how rare I actually write reviews when talking with friends recently and if any place deserves a 5 star review, it's this place! I first went here because they were the only place in the area that didn't either hire out to a specialist for ultrasounds, charge almost $400 or have a machine so old it couldn't do what we needed it to do. My first appointment, I went in on a Sunday (for a non emergency, imagine that!) and didn't have any extra weekend surcharges or anything like that. I ended up coming back after my specialist appointment for palliative care and they were so kind and understanding. When the time came for my sweet kitty to head to wait at the Rainbow Bridge, I called and even though I'd only been there twice and wouldn't get there until 15-20 minutes after closing time, they had no problem waiting for me and the kindness and compassion I received was amazing. They are a bit of a drive for me compared to my old vet, but Dr. Duprez has completely made it worth it.The prices are reasonable, in line with other smaller practices, but their cost for things like ultrasounds seem to be the best in the area (Believe me, I called 30-40 different places). The only issue I had is that I would have appointment set for a specific time, but the diagnostic testing would be for several hours later. It always worked out though and never detracted from the experience!

This veterinary hospital in my opinion is second to none. Dr. Gary Larson and his staff are exceptional at what they do and are extremely personable and easy to talk to. We own an English bulldog and we do not live close to this hospital... We take our bully here because we know he always receives the best care and attention from the doctors and staff.This hospital is state of the art, clean, and has exceptional kenneling services as well at very reasonable rates. Again, we don't live close to this place, but we are willing to drive there because they are so good!

She didn't even know what caused it. I felt dumb for even going there for the services.When I went to get the medicine for my bunny's ear, it wasn't even ready.

This vet is a bit of a drive however, they are open 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. They are 1/3 the price of all the other vets and offer state of the art service and have a specialist on staff for all those needs that come up. My dog had bladder stones and I went to a vet in Kirkland who told me I needed a specialist and my entire bill was going to be 3k. I went out to South Hill who reviewed the x-rays, 2 vets and 3 techs examined my dog and determined she didn't need this special operation the other vet was trying to get me to do through their 'specialist' If I would have just stayed with South Hill my entire bill would have been under $1000.00 for surgery, exam, x-rays, medications and bladder infections. Plus they call you when your dog comes out of surgery and then call you the next day to make sure everything is okay.

South Hill was an absolute life saver for us. We recently moved to the area four weeks ago and have not yet found a primary vet for our dogs. We encountered an emergency situation in which one of our dogs needed surgery. We were trying to avoid an emergency hospital mostly because we want the best care of our dogs but also to try and avoid crazy prices. In less than one day we were able to see Dr. Larson for the surgery. He and the technicians went out of their way to help us and we could not be more grateful. From phone calls well past their closing time to ask/answer my questions to shuffling around schedules to fit in the surgery that was not planned, we for forever thankful for them. Thank you, South Hill, for helping my family.

The Doctors are nice I admit. There is also so many fees for everything & they do not go over these with you before they are done . Transferring somewhere else .

I wish I could give this 0 stars. I called in desperate need for quick advice, I’m puppy sitting and needed to know if a scratch is fine for a puppy to have or if I need to take him in to be checked. All the woman would say is she’s legally bound to not give me advice and that no vet I call will help me and I should “call a friend who owns dogs” first off, I own dogs. Not puppies. I’m not familiar with how a young puppy will handle a simple scratch from another dog. This woman was so rude and admitted that she doesn’t have any vet knowledge and can’t answer. I begged her to please at least tell me if I should bring him in, to please be a decent human and want to help a 4month old puppy and concerned sitter. She would not. I’ll admit, I was extremely angry. The cops aren’t going to come and arrest her for being a decent human and advising on a simple issue over the phone. Sure enough, I called River Road Vet in Puyallup, and right away they reassured me that everything is okay. They gave me symptoms to look out for. They even offered to set up an appointment to check out the scratch. They advised that scratches can appear more red in the healing process and as long as I’m cleaning/monitoring it and it isn’t swollen it should be okay. Bottom line, these people clearly don’t care about the wellbeing of animals. Any decent human would at least attempt to give any sort of help. Evil.

We made the switch to South Hill Vet just recently when we were quoted an inordinate amount for dental work for our Schnauzer by another local vet. South Hill Vet was super up-front and honest about pricing and what might need to be done during his procedure. They did amazing work, kept me informed the entire time, followed up with us to check on him, AND it was far less in price than we were expecting. I'm very impressed with the level of care my dog received and I feel like their prices are fair. I think we've found our new vet!

I've been with South Hill veterinary clinic since 2009 but I noticed that their quality of care has dramatically changed. Recently my animals have gotten tapeworms and I went in about a month earlier and got medications for all three of my animals for a different type of worm, round worms and got it without having all of them to be seen but at this point when I went in today I asked the doctor to do the same thing if she could refill my prescriptions since I have been spending so much money there and the one I brought in was infected over the last month I've spent around $500. What really frustrates me is that she said she couldn't do it because there was no documentation of them giving my animals the treatment for the month before and right there that just confirmed everything for me if they can't even keep the right documentation I'm not going to entrust you with my animals.

I liked how friendly the staff was, but very disappointed with a charge they had me pay fro my cat. I took my cat in back in July because he seemed very disoriented. This was his first visit to this clinic, so they suggested a bunch of tests. Luckily, I had all my previous paperwork from his past clinics showing all the tests they did and vaccines. Anyway, the veterinarian suggested we give my cat the Feline Leukemia test. I told him that I'm pretty certain that he already had that test done and it was negative. He looked (quickly) over my paperwork and supposedly didn't see it. So since I was stressed about the current state of my cat, I said "Ok, let's do the test" so we can try to rule out things. I go to sit in the waiting room, and I'm thinking to myself that I really thought that test sounded familiar. So, I looked over my paperwork again and saw that he indeed received the Feline Leukemia test at another clinic (and I'm sure it was negative). I went up to the receptionist and told her about the situation and asked her if she could tell them to stop before they did the test. Well, she goes in the back and talks to staff about my cat and the test. She comes back out and tells me that it's too late to stop it and since the paperwork doesn't state that it was a negative test, it's better to do it. SO that was $50 something I had to pay extra, and the vet wouldn't budge on that charge. I spent almost $300 on tests to tell me they still didn't know what was wrong with my cat.

We had taken our sweet Boxer girl here for 8 years. She always was treated with kindness and love. The few times she even needed the vet she was always a model patient. I think she was at ease every visit because all of the staff are so caring and have our pets best interest in mind. The prices for care are very fairly priced. The lobby is clean and comforting. We sadly had to put our Boxer down last night and their support was terrific. By giving us some alone time with our girl and settling everything in the room so we could just leave after we said our goodbyes. Just wanted to say a big thank you to South Hill Veterinary Hospital for always being there for us. Should we ever welcome another pet, we will definitely be back! Thanks again!

They told us he was "perfectly healthy" - we did not receive a copy of his tests until after he died, very painfully in our arms, a month later. SOP for an older male, indoor cat is almost always a kidney panel. Which was NOT run. His sister will never cross this "vet's" threshold.

So one of my dogs is a puppy and I guess one of the shots wasn't done twice so fine to pay for the shot but also a vet visit when I'm boarding them there and not going to be at the visit she just had a vet visits before we moved three months ago and no one said she needed the shot redone there but maybe they missed it. So I paid it to the rude girl who was annoyed that I was annoyed at paying a vet visit when I'm boarding my dog. I paid $148 for it all and she said I paid in full and all I had to do was come and get my dogs when we were back. But no go get them and I owe more money for a vet visit and I said I paid in full the girl said no she didn't charge you right. So now I'm freaking pissed and paid because I was too tired to fight it no apologies no nothing and they x-rayed my dog with out asking me at this freaking visit so I don't know if it was to cover that fee which no one even asked to do. Needless to say I will never be back. The girls at the front are super rude and apparently not trained very well.

I've been here three times now and had a different vet each time. The front desk staff is always very cheerful and sweet to my old lady. All three vets we've seen have been great. I am big into holistic healing and they have never mocked me for that or the vegan diet my dog is on. They have never pushed vaccines or products on me. They are always very kind, professional and patient with my questions and concerns. It's almost a 30 minute jaunt for me to get there but it's a great place and worth it. Yesterday was a long appointment but I never get hustled out or cut short. We will continue be loyal patrons.

I've been coming to this establishment for years and most recently have seen a severe decline in the quality of care. Mis-diagnosis of my dog and expensive meds she didn't need. Got my dogs back sick from boarding them for 5 days. They "forgot" to give my dogs the shots they took him to be back for? Waited 45 mins past my appointment time without any communication from the staff. Brought my dog in for a "wellness check", vet on duty missed his enlarged lymph nodes but made sure to tell the rest of the staff that our dog was crazy... I can't keep looking past these issues. Things need to change, so we did! To another vet and facility entirely. As a fur mom, I couldn't in good conscience continue to take my dogs to a facility staffed by people that I have no faith in.

We recently moved to the area and hadn't found a vet for our pets yet. Our lab mix Russell got into some trouble last weekend with a barbwire fence and needed immediate care... on a Sunday. South Hill was one of the only vet hospitals open, they took him in right away, fixed his wound and we were on our way home with Russell within 30 minutes. The employees are very knowledgeable, great customer service, and a decent price. This is now Our new vet!

I was completely frustrated with this establishment when I specifically stated beforehand that I did not want to use their pharmacy. The vet had a script filled and my card got charged and they wouldn't do anything to correct the issue. All they would tell me as that I wouldn't find meds cheaper anywhere else and that they couldn't be returned once they were filled. I will not be recommending this place to any of my fellow pet owners.

Being a former veterinary receptionist I did a lot of research before bringing my pets to this clinic. That being said, I had a 6 year old Boxer who was acting dramatically unusual. I called ahead to see if they could fit her in same day and they were able to stay late (after closing) to diagnose and treat her! They spent 2 hours with her and my husband trying to figure out what was wrong. After they came to a conclusion she was sent home with meds and bloodwork was sent to the lab. The dr called me daily to check on her (most clinics make the vet techs or receptionists do this). The dr even sent me pdfs of the reports and labs, as requested. After she finished her meds she was back to normal. Then things got bad again, we knew it was a possibility after the findings. We took her in for a euthanasia, I wasn't ready to let her go due to her acting normal as soon as we walked in. The dr asked if we wanted to try another test and we did. She was sent home with more meds. About 3 weeks later she was back in bad shape so I called to get a refill on meds they were fast with the approval and fill. But about 20 minutes after my phone call she passed away in my arms (to cardiomyopathy, we knew she had limited time left. They did everything they could to lengthen it, they gave her 5 extra weeks of life). I called to request a drop off for cremation. They had to stay open late again to do this for us. Overall we could've been charged thousands and they gave us discounts and treated us fantastically. Other vets refused to set a emergency walk in appointment. I called every clinic in south hill. We recently got another boxer puppy who has been seen twice once for a scheduled puppy exam/vax and again for a eye injury. The eye injury was a last minute emergency visit they made time to see us and didn't refuse service. Not to mention this was on a weekend, the busiest day in any vet clinic. She was sent home with the meds I requested and is 100% better. Overall this facility is amazing!

Actually all the doctors and staff are amazing you won't go wrong bringing your pets here. They have the most compassionate staff of any Veterinary hospital in town. We Love that they are open seven days a week. Their cost for medications are affordable, there isn't the markup that I have seen at other clinics. We appreciate Dr. Gary Larson keeping things affordable for all us pet owners.

We did some shopping around before we found our permanent vet. The first thing that stuck out to me about this location is how clean and sanitary it is on the inside. We have two miniature dachshunds that we bring in for all shots and check ups and the employees treat them as if they are their own. My dogs get nervous around most people, but attack the ladies that work at the front desk with kisses each time we come in. I genuinely feel that they want what is best for my pets and I think that my dogs know it too! The only thing I have to complain about is that they don't do many walk ins and you generally have to make appointments for everything (probably because everyone else knows how good they are as well). This only becomes a concern if something happens to one of my pets and he or she needs immediate attention. I would rather go to these guys than a doggie hospital any day of the week.Other than that, your search for a good vet ends here!

We moved to the Puyallup area about 6 years ago and had to find a new vet to take care of our pets. After trying 2 or 3 others in the areas, we settled on South Hill Vet. Why? Friendly staff, quality pet care, and a reasonable price! Are they the cheapest? Not always (sometimes!), but they will also work with you on price if you're on a tight budget. They are good to give you "budget based options" if you let them know you need them. They have handled 4 cats and an elderly dog for us so far. They literally helped us save our then 11 year old doggie about 2 years ago and she continues to thrive. The care for our dog became quite regular for a time, and they were very accommodating during that time. They even helped us once with a chicken. Definitely worth a consultation. Great people.

So I have been here 2 times and twice my appointment has been re-schedule, its not a big deal becsuse I only bring my rabbit for a nail trim, but it is just rather annoying to have to change plans, that is why us a minus star. Other than that the staff is always super friendly, the place is clean and spacious, I have never seen it crowded but it gets busy on Sundays which is the days that we always visit. They have a few supplies and items for sale mostly for cats and dogs. I like this place a lot totally recommend it compare to other vets in the area.

Thank you for treating my cat Sam with more respect than I have seen given to people at hospitals. Although he was too sick and passed away, Dr Larson gave me constant updates on his condition did everything he could for him. The staff was very helpful in getting him ready to come home to us to be laid to rest. I highly recommend South Hill Veterinary to anybody whose pets are more than just pets, but members of the family.

What a wonderful place to go to for any veterinary needs! It's always such great service when we go in. They're super great with the animals and are always explaining the process when they're in the room looking over your pet. Today in particular when I took my cat in, they didn't force certain medication on me, even though it was an option. They explained to me the differences between the two and the benefits of each medication but did not force me one way or the other. Their prices seem reasonable, although I think vet visits are always expensive. From the front desk all the way to the actual veterinarian coming to check on our pet, we get an over the top, wonderful experience. They also can typically get you in for a same day appointment. If you're in the area, bring your animal here. You won't be disappointed.

We made the heart breaking decision to put our dog to sleep after suffering 1-4 seizures a day for a week! We had originally gone to Value Pet Clinic and been giving false hope on our situation and a suggestion of running more and more tests. We both strongly felt it was a brain tumor and decided we should not delay the inevitable by trying more and more tests.SHVH was so compassionate and sympathetic over our situation. They knew we loved our dog and knew this was such a heart wrenching situation and decision that we were making. We explained the seizures and some of her changes and instantly the vet said, it sounds like she has a brain tumor. It was comforting to hear that she agreed with us and that we were not just making the decision to end her life if there was hope with medication. We, the vet and vet tech all sat on blankets on the floor. Surrounding my dog with hugs and let her go. She went peacefully in 30 seconds. The vet again gave condolences and with tears in her own eyes showed us how to exit through a hallway instead of the lobby. The vet also provided us with a picture book, "Every Dog Has An Angel" and an imprint of my dogs paw. We opted for the group cremation and instead of disposing of the ashes, the vet scatters the ashes over a commencement bay. It was so comforting to have such a warm staff help us through this difficult process and that they offered extra touches to help you heal. We will definitely be using this as our primary vet with our other dog. Thank you so much for caring!

We did not have an appt on a very busy Saturday, and they fit us in. Our Golden Retriever's allergies were really acting up w/the springtime weather in Washington. When Dr. Dewitt came into the exam room, our Golden just started talking to her. It was so funny! Anyway, she put him on antibiotics, short-term steroids, & ear drops for his first-time ear infection. He is doing so much better. When he gets done w/his prescriptions, Dr. Dewitt suggested we try Zyrtec (Benadryl & Claritin didn't help him). I will definitely be back w/our other dog & cat when their shots are due.I'm updating my review after returning a couple more times w/both dogs. I need to find a Vet that does not gouge the pet owner w/$40+ exam fees every time you come in, and it would be really nice if they also offered a low-cost clinic for vaccinations the 1st Saturday of every month. The biggest reason I'm not going back to South Hill Vet Hospital though is they want between $400-$540 to extract one of Casey's teeth. Are you kidding me???

Absolutely worth the one hour commute from Bellevue to receive excellent care for our cat. SHVH was recommended to me by a breeder that drives all the way from Chehalis! I can best summarize it as receiving Nordstrom care at a Costco price! To top it off, 5 of the 6 doctors are WSU grads! Go Cougs!

This unfortunately was probably one of the worst veterinarian experiences I've had ever since I've had my dog. We were recommended to go here by semi very kind and caring people however the experience that I received was not one of which I would recommend anybody. When I arrived I had an appointment set for 11 AM however I was there for approximately 30 minutes before I was even seen by anybody. In addition to that my dog had something going on with his skin and before even explaining what they were planning on trying to do or accomplish they took my dog to the back and proceeded to preform God knows what on him. The worst part about it all is when they brought him back to me he was worse then when he came in. The text and the veterinarian obviously didn't know what to do with me at the time that they brought my dog back because he explained for me to go up to the counter and pick up my prescriptions for my dog however the front desk I have no prescriptions available for me at that time. Long story short it was extremely disorganized and unreliable. The veterinarian didn't explain anything about the medications that were provided to me nor did they explain as to how my dog it could have encountered this skin infection. I felt more like a number than anything there and I don't feel like they cared about me or my dog just our money. And let me just say it was a costly visit.

I realized how rare I actually write reviews when talking with friends recently and if any place deserves a 5 star review, it's this place! I first went here because they were the only place in the area that didn't either hire out to a specialist for ultrasounds, charge almost $400 or have a machine so old it couldn't do what we needed it to do. My first appointment, I went in on a Sunday (for a non emergency, imagine that!) and didn't have any extra weekend surcharges or anything like that. I ended up coming back after my specialist appointment for palliative care and they were so kind and understanding. When the time came for my sweet kitty to head to wait at the Rainbow Bridge, I called and even though I'd only been there twice and wouldn't get there until 15-20 minutes after closing time, they had no problem waiting for me and the kindness and compassion I received was amazing. They are a bit of a drive for me compared to my old vet, but Dr. Duprez has completely made it worth it.The prices are reasonable, in line with other smaller practices, but their cost for things like ultrasounds seem to be the best in the area (Believe me, I called 30-40 different places). The only issue I had is that I would have appointment set for a specific time, but the diagnostic testing would be for several hours later. It always worked out though and never detracted from the experience!

This veterinary hospital in my opinion is second to none. Dr. Gary Larson and his staff are exceptional at what they do and are extremely personable and easy to talk to. We own an English bulldog and we do not live close to this hospital... We take our bully here because we know he always receives the best care and attention from the doctors and staff.This hospital is state of the art, clean, and has exceptional kenneling services as well at very reasonable rates. Again, we don't live close to this place, but we are willing to drive there because they are so good!

I took my rabbit here because the normal vet that I go to was not in the office at the time.I was not impressed with the exotics vet. Perhaps she was having a bad day, but she didn't smile, make any eye contact and did not seem very informative. She took an ear swab to test and she couldn't tell what infection it was. She didn't even know what caused it. I felt dumb for even going there for the services.When I went to get the medicine for my bunny's ear, it wasn't even ready.

This vet is a bit of a drive however, they are open 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. They are 1/3 the price of all the other vets and offer state of the art service and have a specialist on staff for all those needs that come up. My dog had bladder stones and I went to a vet in Kirkland who told me I needed a specialist and my entire bill was going to be 3k. I went out to South Hill who reviewed the x-rays, 2 vets and 3 techs examined my dog and determined she didn't need this special operation the other vet was trying to get me to do through their 'specialist' If I would have just stayed with South Hill my entire bill would have been under $1000.00 for surgery, exam, x-rays, medications and bladder infections. Plus they call you when your dog comes out of surgery and then call you the next day to make sure everything is okay.
