My fiance and I were so delighted with our experience at Interbay Veterinary Care Center regarding the neutering appointment for our 9 month old labradoodle. Before the surgery, they called us several times throughout the week to remind us of the appointment, answer questions and provide information about what to expect. On the day of, they let us bring our dog into the back of their facility so that he would be more comfortable, and due to some logistical challenges on our e...nd, they agreed to let our dog stay with them overnight free of charge. The next morning when we picked him up, he was as happy as can be. They had already walked him twice that day, and they had allowed him to hang out behind the counter with them that morning rather than keeping him in a crate. We received a call later that morning to double check that he was doing okay. Simply blown away by the level of service and care that this team devotes to their patients and patients' families. I'd love to write a glowing review of Interbay since I am quite fond of the personnel there and confident that my animals get the best care possible. However, I have come to realize that they are more expensive than most of the other vets in the same area. Some of that expense is  higher fees, and their fees have gone up considerably in the years I have been going there, but much is excessive tests. Modern veterinary medicine can be much more precise than in past years, but sometimes I think it is OK to just go with the probabilities. E.g. Lets just try the usual prednisone for a week and see what happens instead of doing $800 worth of more tests before we decide prednisone is the only way to go. Also, I don't understand why my pets must be whisked away from me for weighing and injections and other minor things that most vets do in the examining room in front of you. It feels like they are hiding something.Since the above, I have had further experiences with this vet in which I feel I was treated in a condescending and actually cruel manner. Sometimes money DOES have to be a consideration, but I don't think anyone at this vet has any sympathy for you if it is. I plan to take my animals elsewhere. Read Less

Are they competent?  Yes.  Are they overpriced?  Yes.I used Interbay when I lived in Magnolia.  One of my cats needed his teeth cleaned.  Their dental estimate:  $1089.   But I was moving soon, so I decided to check with my soon-to-be new vet on Capitol Hill before dropping a grand on cat dentistry.  Cost at my new vet:  $400.   Yeah, I went with the new vet.As far as their service went, it was fine.  The front desk staff were friendly and Dr. Mohamed in particular was great (but seems to have left since then). Just be aware they are overpriced and will nickel-and-dime you.  The fact that they charged me $18 to fax my pets' info to my new vet was a fitting end to my relationship with Interbay Vet. Read Less

I should first note that the Dr Mohammad mentioned by some of the reviewers does not seem to be there any more. She was the doctor that treated my cat and while competent it was obvious to me that she was under pressure to maximize the bill. I took my cat in to get a second opinion about a possible auto immune disorder that was affecting his paws and by the time I left I had spent close to $2000.00 on a heart evaluation and some blood and urine tests. Not sure that it was all necessary. They could be a lot more transparent about the need for the various procedures. Their integrity is more than a little questionable. Read Less

This place has GOT to lower their prices or they are going to go out of business.  I cannot take my dog here for a $50 visit without leaving with a $400 + bill.  This last visit, he was given meds for an itchy behind as well as a shot.  Three days later he was itching, licking and rubbing his bum on the ground.  I'm going to try the new vet on Queen Anne.  I've been going to interbay for about 9 years and I just cannot take the price gauging any longer.  Dr. Mohamed also left under "mysterious" circumstances. If I could give 6 stars or more, I would. We have been taking our dog here for almost 5 years. They've always been fine for the basic stuff but Dr. Coffin and Veronica have really gone above and beyond all of our expectations as a vet office lately. We recently found out our dog had a cancerous bone tumor and had to have her leg amputated. They referred us to a specialist for the surgery but I have been talking with Dr. Coffin almost daily for additional advice and he has been an ENORMOUS resource and incredibly supportive. He is often calling after his office hours, taking away from his personal time to help us through everything. We have had a few complications and Dr. Coffin always has new suggestions and is constantly offering helpful advice. I can't say enough good things about this office. Interbay Veterinary Care Center is very friendly and does a great job taking care of your pets. That being said, it is extremely extremely extremely overpriced. I made an appointment for my 2 year old puppy's annual check up and didn't think to ask the cost of the visit beforehand... I walked out with a $200 bill. Because I had just moved in next door, I didn't have all of my pup's previous vet records. Because I couldn't provide proof, I was told I needed to get a full set of vaccines and heart worm tests (even though she had never been off her heart worm medicine until we were living in WA where there is no heart worm.) I should have had a stronger backbone and said no thank you, but I was nervous and wanted to trust that a veterinarian had the best interests of my puppy. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't bullied into tests and I do believe they had the best intentions, I just think it was paired with getting paid.In the future, I would definitely recommend another vet until they change their prices to meet the rest of the area's prices. To give you a comparison... and appointment at Urban Animal is $45 and I think it is more fun, my dog is never nervous there like she was at Interbay Vet & the prices are great!PS. One problem I was faced with was that my dog has separation anxiety and therefore is very nervous about being taken away from me... At other vet office's I was allowed to take her to the room where they weigh her so that she could stay calm. That was not an option at Interbay and they just pulled her out of the room even though she cried and was very upset... That in itself made me never go back. Read Less

At the end of February I brought my dog here for some breathing/gagging issues since my favorite vet could not get him in ASAP. We ended up with x-rays, 4 different antibiotics, a cough suppressant, an exam and a lab interpretation - $750 later my dog is not better. The next suggested course was a fecal sample, blood work and to see an allergist. I did not get the feeling that they knew what to do so, let's do it all.  Since, he is due for some shots, I contacted my regular vet to get him in and also discuss with her, his situation. Our vet called to obtain records but, was told there would be a $9.00 fee. Seriously? I called and got Veronica, and she stated that the fee was for them to actually keep my dog's file for three years. Don't bother, I will not be returning. To nickel and dime someone that has already paid for the Dr.'s "notes/file" at $750 should be able to get the file for free!!! And to be told that it is within their right to charge a fee. Very disappointed that I have to pay this in addition, but because I care for my dog, and that his regular vet gets all the information.I did feel Dr. Mohamed did do a great job initially and honestly care about my pup. She is the only value...I hope she gets my $9. Do not go here. Read Less

I was so very impressed with the people that work here and the facility itself.   Dr Lina Mohamed was so careful in listening, thoughtful with diagnosis options, and caring.  She timed her appointments so there was plenty of time to be thorough, no feeling of being rushed, while not keeping other appointments waiting beyond their scheduled time; very respectful on all fronts.  The support team I met of Veronica, Christina, and Ethan kept things humming while giving extraordinary care to each and every pet, and I thought it was remarkable how much they cared about the pets they cared for; each and every one got special treatment and extra love.   I highly recommend this vet and the wonderful, talented people that work here. They say they want to only offer the best treatment for your animal.  They actually mean they offer only the MOST expensive treatment for your animal. Dr. Muhammad is fantastic.  Dr. Coffin on the other hand wouldn't  treat a dog for epilepsy because he was worried about his reputation if he didn't send the dog to a neurologist first (said 'what would another vet think of me'). My new vet Elliot Bay Animal Hospital took him in and immediately had him on an epilepsy drug to see if that would stop his seizures...it has stopped them. Dr. Coffin was very condescending about the fact that I didn't have a car and made me feel like a bad pet owner.     The weirdest thing was, if you change vet and request your dogs vet records (you've paid for everything in the records) THEY CHARGE TO TRANSFER RECORDS.  My new vet said that they do this to keep patients and it doesn't work and is ridiculous. This is the vet you want to take your baby to. Dr. Muhammed went for above and beyond, and quite literally saved my dog's life. Cleopatra is a stray from Mexico who is the center of my universe. When she came down with lethargy and frequent urination a couple summers ago, I thought she might have a simple urinary tract infection. I took her to Dr. Muhammed (who was her regular doc) who found that the labs weren't matching up with a UTI. She explained in detail how certain aspects of her lab work were just slightly out of the normal ranges, and how she wanted to do another lab test that would only cost a little.Long story short, Dr. Muhammed spent a lot of time and energy to figure out what Cleo's mystery illness was. This included time on the phone to researchers and vets in California, Wyoming, and Colorado, independent research (she consulted with her vet textbooks!), and getting Cleo enrolled in a study in Colorado at no cost to us. Turns out Cleo had Ehrlichia, which particularly in Seattle is quite rare. She most certainly contracted this from a tick bite when she was still in Mexico. Dr. Muhammed explained the process of this bacteria IN DETAIL in laymen's terms. She was very patient and clear and spent a ton of time on the phone with me to update me on what she had found out.One of the other things that lets me know that Dr. Muhammed and Interbay are of the highest integrity is that they don't try to exploit your love of your pet in order to sell you things you don't need and get more money out of you. I can't tell you how many times Dr. Muhammed has said, after explaining the possible courses of action, "I think we should do this test now because it is cheaper, and then depending on the results of that we might not even need the big, expensive one." Granted, the fees for lab tests are almost all going to the lab itself and not the vet, but I think that is speaks to the level of consideration and empathy that is exhibited by this facility that they are advocating for you on all fronts and are "on your team".Today my dog is alive and healthy because of Dr. Muhammed. I could also go on and on about the incredible support staff, including the techs Jason and Veronica. The amount of caring these people have shown myself and my dog is overwhelming. We recently relocated to Denver and will soon have to find a new vet. I can only hope we find one whom is half as fantastic as the folks at Interbay. Read Less

Interbay is a great Vet Clinic, and Dr. Mohamed is a wonderful vet.  Regardless of whether or not you are going in for a simple vaccine booster or for a more serious issue, the doctors and vet techs always take the time to answer your questions thoroughly and give your dog the attention (you feel) it deserves. Of course, vet bills are always more expensive than one would like. That's part of responsible pet ownership.  At Interbay, they don't add unnecessary line items on your bill, only charge you a tech visit if you only need a tech visit, and price out different treatment options if you need that information to make a treatment decision. I first went to Interbay after moving to Seattle a little over a year ago, and have been much happier with Interbay than any of my previous vets. Read Less

My new cockapoo puppy and I just had our first visit with Dr. Mohamed and the fantastic staff at Interbay Veterinary. Dr. Mohamed spent an hour with us going over all aspects of how to take care of a new puppy, providing details on current care and things to watch for over the next month. She thoroughly explained options and choices in flee control, diet, and vaccinations. Dr. Mohamed also informed me of what would be ahead of us as my puppy got older.  The level of detail she provided was so helpful and I left the appointment feeling much more confident with my new little girl. I have 2 dogs: a 6 year old German Shepherd and a 1 year old half Lab, half Shepherd.  I have been going to Interbay Vet for about 2 years, and at this point I am in there every month, so I am very familiar with their high level of care.  I have tried other vets in the area (Aurora Veterinary hospital and Elliot Bay animal hospital), and Interbay Vet remains my favorite and I am confident in their work. They really get to know you and your dogs and find solutions that work for you.  For example, my older Shepherd has a serious vet phobia, and they are great about getting me in a room right away and are very quick, but still thorough, with her treatment.   They have helped us with her allergies and stomach issues.I am a pretty neurotic and overly attentive pet owner, and they are SO patient with me!  I am often calling or emailing them to ask things like "Is it okay that my dog ate this..." or "How many miles can my puppy handle of running?" and they respond very quickly.  They are also open on Saturday mornings which is helpful. My vet is Dr. Mohamed and she is the greatest!  She is incredibly patient, gives me all of the treatment options available, and is very friendly.  She was especially helpful when we first got our puppy and let us know what to expect, recommended obedience classes, preferred food brands, etc...   She is also good about letting us know how urgently we need to treat problems and what we can wait on.  Dr. Coffin has also seen us and was very helpful as well. The other staff are amazing too.  Veronica has been great about promptly submitting our insurance claims and taking care of that for us.  She is incredibly knowledgeable.  My dogs adore her. Jason is always very friendly, organized, and attentive.   Joanna is nice and whenever I am nervous about something going on with my dogs, I feel at ease because of her welcoming smile and conversation.Overall, I think this vet clinic is great and would recommend  them to anyone. My husband and I lived on the Eastside for years and were never satisfied with the vets we saw over there. One in Bellevue, whose name will not be mentioned was so condescending. When we moved to Seattle we asked various neighbors who they would recommend. We asked for both first and second choices. Even the one person who worked for another vet gave IVCC as their choice. We tried a different vet here first who we were told had lower prices because they had a bigger client base. Their staff was absolutely insufferable, snooty and gossipy about us right in front of us in the waiting room. If they're like that with people, how even worse would they be with animals? Obviously, we have not be back to them since! We lost our first cat to a degenerative spinal condition. Because the initial event took place on a Sunday we went to emergency vet. They were very hardened, not just with us but with another couple who were ahead of us. I was so relieved when we got back to IVCC. They treated us with compassion, doping our first fur person with meds so she would not be in pain. It was an extremely difficult decision to let her go. I must admit that in the beginning IVCC did have receptionist problems; they just kept leaving or being inadequate to the level of competence required. I am happy to say that asap they remedied the situation. As to cost, we have been offered payment plans when the procedure looked to be exceeding our means. We have been with Drs. Coffin and Mohamed, Veronica and Jason for 16 years now and through the kitten-hood to senior status with our current brood of three. They each have their own problems and personalities. The doctors treat them, and us, as individuals, meeting all our concerns and their needs with the utmost care and consideration. The time, personal attention, follow-up combined with everyone's education and experience makes IVCC the place to go on Queen Anne/Magnolia. They have our vote and we will stay with them! Read Less

My wife and I were first introduced to IVCC through a recommendation of one of my wife's patients. We had a different Veterinary Clinic in the Magnolia area that we have used since moving back to Seattle in 1997. While it was convenient and closer to home, we always felt that the communication was minimal and that we and our pets were not recognized by name. We found it to be more like a public health clinic/assembly ~line whose primary goal was to process the animal and get onto the next appointment. Interbay Veterinary Care offers the Best in Class in achieving the goal of educating and making the Pet Owner a partner with IVCC to achieve the best quality of life one can offer their pet. Education and pet health awareness are key to the healthy life of any animal. Being educated in a pets health issues, helps us to understand how our animal may be feeling, good or bad. A recent example is being shown several articles on Dental Care for cats, and how the lack of good dental hygiene can lead to other diseases and a very miserable life. Seeing an abscess on an animal's tooth helped to transfer the pain from our animal to ourselves. I know I would not go for a day with that kind of pain, but many of us dismiss this vital issue. Our 18 year old cat, Frolly is now his 'old' self as a result of his dental cleaning and excellent post procedure treatment. Having worked for over 34 years as an Accountant and Senor Business Process Analyst , I know the critical key to success of any business is the paramount aspect of Customer / Supplier Relationships. (In this case the Pet and Owner being the customer, and the Supplier being the doctors and Staff at IVCC.) We feel that we are treated as if we were their only client. To me, the employees/staff are the most important part of any business. At IVCC we have found that the Doctors and Staff work together as a 'team' to achieve quality Pet Health and Owner Satisfaction. This enthusiasm for team spirit can only be achieved when the management staff offers compassion and care for their staff. How many times have you had: 1.) The door opened for you? 2.) Help out to the car? 3.) More than 30 minutes sitting with your vet and/or staff to discuss a health care plan? 4.) Being personally addressed by the staff when coming in the door? 5.) Being called at home to explain good and/or abnormal test results? 6.) Being asked about how you are feeling regarding the loss of a long-time pet? If you haven't been to IVCC, you better make your appointment now. If you've neglected your Pets health-care, don't worry, the doctors and staff are not about rejecting you, but making you and your pet become healthy again, making you a happy Owner. Our only regret is that we didn't start going to IVCC when we first moved back to Seattle in 1997. Read Less

My husband moved back home in late October and we've been looking for a good vet for our almost 10 yr old dog Toby. My sister has been taking her cat to Interbay for a long while and recommended the clinic. I loved the personal 'treatment' we got from the staff to the Doc but I will admit that things are spendier when you go to a vet vs. to a "Petsmart, etc". Toby seemed to be quite happy and he was given some sample medicine which he loved. We definitely feel comfortable taking our doggy here and highly recommend. I only ding one star for being pricier for office visits ($70+) and also for the parking lot. They are having construction across the way and that makes the road a little tighter and then they have only 3 stalls in the front of the clinic. Fits my husband's smaller car just fine but mine was a little harder to manage. Read Less

I've been taking my nine year old dog Sydney to Interbay Veterinary Care Center since he was two years old. He had been a regular patient at other veterinary clinics in the city, but didn't seem to be getting the level of care that I really wanted him to receive. After all, he is like my child and his health and well being are extremely important to me. It didn't take long for me to realize that Sydney was in the hands of an exceptional team of veterinary professionals at IVCC. Not only are they the most thorough and informative team I've encountered, but they're also the most personable. Their high standards for all types of care, whether it be preventative, basic or more intensive are very high. This is exactly what Sydney needs. Not only do I know about the many attributes of IVCC from experience as a client, but I have also experienced their high level of professionalism and care from behind the scenes as a veterinary assistant. I have learned so much from Dr Coffin and vet tech Veronica as both a client and an employee. Based on what I've learned from them and the rest of the IVCC team, I'm able to give Sydney better care on a daily basis. This ability to give better care is very important, as Sydney suffers significantly from atopic allergies. As of recently, he was diagnosed with lymphoma. The battle has been intense to say the least, but also promising. Everyone at IVCC has been there since the beginning (the mass removal and diagnosis), and continues to be even after we were referred to an oncologist. IVCC may charge slightly more for their services, but I firmly believe that if you want a higher level of quality care for your pet then you have to be willing to pay more. After all, your pet is worth it. Sydney and I consider Dr Coffin, Dr Mohammad, and vet techs Veronica and Jason family. When Sydney is at IVCC, I can feel comfortable knowing that he is in the best hands. Read Less

I recently moved to the Interbay area.  During my move, my dog hopped out of my car -- he has two surgically repaired ACLs -- and it was sort of a rough landing.  He didn't howl or anything, but I was concerned.  He was fairly dormant for a few days, then seemed to snap out of it.  We went for a walk soon after - and had to cut it a bit short as it began to rain - I would later recall being maybe a bit too forceful with the leash/harness.  Shortly thereafter, my dog developed a pretty good lump on his back, sort of where a dog's shoulder blade would be, back behind his left ear.  I called Interbay Vet and they said they could see him the next day.  I went in and Veronica was very nice.  Dr. Mohamed was also extremely personable and I could definitely sense their genuine love for animals.  I was told that the only way to really know for sure on my dog was to do a cell analysis to determine if it was a tumor, a cyst, etc.  The Dr. was concerned because of the hardness of the lump and the fact that it had come about fairly quickly.  Now, I'm no vet, obviously.  But I was pretty sure this was an INJURY and not a tumor/cyst.  While my dog didn't seem to be in any pain from it, it seemed like perhaps some anti-inflammatories and/or ice/heat would be the best course of action.  TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTY TWO dollars later, the cellular analysis came back as 'inflamed tissue, no sign of infection.'  She recommended we check back again in two weeks to see if it hadn't gotten any smaller and that we should just cut out whatever it is if it's still inflamed/swollen.  TOTAL misdiagnosis, which resulted in a very expensive bill from the vet.  I'm cool with better safe than sorry, but in this instance an X-ray would have made more sense than sending a cup of fluid to a lab for a look.  It seems to be more of a doggy chiropractic scenario than anything.  This diagnosis went against what I logically assumed to be the case - that either the jump from the car or my pulling on his harness a little much - had caused this problem.Good news: my dog doesn't have a cancerous tumor the size of a golf ball on his back.Bad news: I'm out almost $300 with no real remedy but wait and see, or call back and get what is sure to be a JACKED UP price on anti-inflammatories and take my chances.Super nice people.  Made a very poor diagnosis and judgment in this instance.  When I complained about the steepness of the bill - I understand that lab work can be spendy, but my old vet on Admiral Way would NEVER have charged this much - I was told that the $70 on the bill was a 'fancy way of saying the Dr.'s diagnosis cost that much."  Like I'm 12.  Furthermore, NO credence was given to the simple fact that I was charged for a misdiagnosis.  This is like paying a taxi cab 4x what you thought the fare was going to be because they drove around in circles for an hour, and then dropped you off in Issaquah without your cellphone or a dime to your name.Terrible Experience.  Go Somewhere Else. My experiences with Dr. Mohamed and Interbay Vet Care Center have been so exceptional I felt compelled to write my first Citysearch review! We had a very negative experience with another vet's office in Ballard (which will go unnamed) and so came to Dr. Mohamed based on the recommendation of a friend. She spent a tremendous amount of time with us explaining (in a very professional and non-critical way) all the errors that had been made by our previous vet with our puppy thus far in terms of vaccination schedule, advice about his teeth, etc. She then went above and beyond in discussing all kinds of options for vaccinations, microchipping, pet health insurance, de-worming, socialization, obedience, etc. in a very collaborative way being sure we knew all of our options without pressuring us in any way. This was all with a warm, kind, approachable, and professional demeanor and happened to also be sweet and affectionate with our puppy while doing so! After spending close to 2 hours with us (far more than was planned for as part of the initial appt) I felt confident that I could implicitly trust her in the care of my dog. Since that first appointment, she has personally called to check in with us about how our puppy is doing, remembered relatively minor issues we had previously discussed, and even went so far as to call us after a conference she attended in which she learned more about the latest research and thoughts about timelines for neutering so we could discuss and be sure we felt we were making an informed decision! I've never experienced anything like this from any of my own healthcare providers, let alone a veterinarian! Going above and beyond what I would ever expect a vet to do, time and time again. Finally, our puppy just got neutered and once again this was handled with the utmost care and professionalism. She personally called after the procedure was done and the clinic even sent us an email that night with a picture of him letting us know he was doing great! The front desk staff and technicians have been wonderful too but as far as I'm concerned that's just icing on the cake. I really can't recommend Dr. Mohamed enough and feel extremely fortunate to have found her!!!Read Less

I cannot speak to the quality of care provided by this veterinarian, but I can speak to the value and service provided during our visit.  We brought our cat in for a visit because he had stopped eating and was vomiting regularly.  The veterinarian called us after his initial examination to discuss his suggested actions.  The quoted price he provided to diagnose our cat totaled $480.  These charges included urine and blood tests, a charge to interpret the results of these tests ($30), a standard visit charge ($68) and an additional charge for fluids ($42).  In addition we were charged a boarding fee to leave him at the clinic until we were able to pick him up 5 hours later ($20).  These charges did not include the treatment of any issues discovered following the diagnosis.    When we expressed our concerns with the cost, the veterinarian became defensive and made us feel very guilty about our reservations to test for things like Feline AIDS and other non-treatable, non-curable diseases.  When we asked if there was an incremental method for running the tests to diminish costs, he informed us there was not (i.e. all or nothing for these tests).   He also stated that he was "not the cheapest veterinarian in town" because "we live in Seattle and the rent is not cheap in Seattle."  He made another comment about $500 "being a drop in the bucket."  Our discussion involved some references to my wife's employment in healthcare, which made her very uncomfortable.  When it was clear that we were not going to allow him to run the tests he was suggesting, he became very concerned with our cat's vaccination records.  He informed us that we needed to pick up the cat immediately (rather than after work), because he was a danger to the other patients (due to his incomplete shot records).  This argument would have been plausible had he refused to board the cat initially.  However, it was only after hearing that we were not willing to pay the exorbitant amounts he was asking that he suddenly became "worried" for his other patients' safety. We took him to another Veterinarian for a second opinion and asked for the Interbay veterinarian's records.  The Interbay veterinarian refused, stating that he had not written them up yet (despite already having charged us $100 for our visit).  He indicated he would write them up and charge us $8.50 to fax them to the clinic of our choice.  These notes had not been provided by the conclusion of our second visit.   In the end, a veterinarian less than 15 miles away was able to diagnose and treat our cat's problem for $220.  He did not find it necessary to run 3 of the 4 tests suggested by the Interbay veterinarian.  When comparing the itemized costs of the treatments, each was more expensive at Interbay Veterinary Hospital.  Hypothetically, even if the second veterinarian had run all of the same tests, the bill would have totaled $390, meaning the charges at Interbay were almost 15% more expensive.  There are several other animal hospitals a stone's throw away from this place.   If location is very important to you, you should be able to find another place close by.  If location is not important, you have a better chance of finding high quality care at lower prices outside of Seattle.  I hope this write-up helps you avoid the same mistakes we made. This is an exceptional vet. Steve Coffin is an talented diagnostician -- he found a potentially fatal heart condition that previous vets had missed and we were able to start treatment that delayed the progress of this disease. He also discovered and treated a cancerous tumor on her leg with some amazingly adept surgery. Given the size of the leg and the size of the growth, I almost didn't believe it could be done. I also find their routine clinical services to be of the highest quality. The staff are professional and friendly and clearly nuts about animals. I trust them completely with my dog's care. For those who have posted an are complaining about the price--since when is medical care inexpensive? Have you found someone else whose just as good with lower prices? You should look for a vet that will offer you a payment plan, knowing that these things can be expensive. Try the Seattle Humane society. I suspect alot of business have been burned by letting customers make installments, so they don't allow it.0 Yes... There are times when I have taken my dogs in and I just about faint when I see the bill, but I do not think it is because they are gouging people. I think it's just an expensive ordeal to practice medicine. In general, I've been very happy. They have taken me in on short notice, and they are careful about prescribing meds, and have done follow up phone calls. They don't try to sell you everything. Dr. Coffin is a good and thoughtful vet, but I won't take my pets there anymore because of the clinic practices . The amount you spend for simple procedures is unbelieveable. I love my pets and want the very best for them, but each and every time I walked in their door it was at least $350 and as much as $1250. And if they forget to add something to your bill, look out! You'll get the snotty phone calls about your owing balance as if you are a dead beat. I would not recommend them to anyone, because the almighty dollar really does matter more than your pet. I recently moved to Seattle and found Interbay Animal Hospital on CitySearch. They seemed to have good reviews so I checked them out. To start off with, they charge you a new ""processing"" fee just to bring your pet in for the first time. A few months later my dog had an emergency, she was sneezing red. I called them and they said I could bring her in but that they would have to charge me for ""emergency"" time. I paid 100 bucks for them to tell me she had something stuck up her nose. I took her home hoping it would get better but it didn't so I brought her in again. Another 100 bucks for them to tell me the exact same thing. They suggested I put her under so they could flush out her system, something that may or may not work, they just didn't know. When they gave me the estimate of $750 I started crying because I couldn't afford it. Instead of suggesting some kind of payment plan, or anything I might be able to try at home, they basically looked at me as if ""too bad, nothing we can do to help you."" I went home feeling like a horrible pet owner, and like the vet only saw me as a giant ATM machine, not a person who absolutely adores her dog and needed help. I will never go back to this vet, horrible, horrible, horrible. They might have good service if you are rich and willing to pay exhorbitant amounts of money for absolutely no care. Read Less

My dog has been throwing up for three days(going on 4) and hasn't been eating at all. So I researched and found that Interbay Animal Hospital had really good reviews and had heard some good things about them. So I went in yesterday (April 25th) and spoke with Veronica. She was VERY helpful, informative, and caring. She told me there was an opening for tomorrow at 9 AM so I made an appointment for today (April 26th) for 9AM like she said. When I went in today (April 26th), with my sick dog, the girl at the front desk (a different girl) simply tells me: ""The doctor is scheduled for surgery all day today so he wont be able to see you anymore. Do you want to drop him off later?"" I was left speechless, in shock as to how heartless she can be. I told her quietly ""ok nevermind"" and she didn't even say ""SORRY"" so I left without saying another word. There was so much going through my mind at the time (things I probably shouldn't write here) and even now but I'll let you use your imagination. Read Less

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Coffin and his entire staff. I've lived in Seattle my whole life and have always had animals, so I""ve been to a number of vets. I never really had complaints with any of them until I saw Dr. Coffin at the Interbay Animal Hospital.. After the first visit I knew I had found the best vet around. He takes the time to explain everything and is happy to answer all questions ( and I always have a lot of them ). He treats ailments with medication when needed but is always cautious. This is something I really appreciate because I feel some vets are a bit too liberal prescribing medications that have potentially dangerous long term effects. I bring my cat and chihuahua here and have complete trust in the Doctor and his superb staff. As I said earlier, before seeing Dr. Coffin, I felt my vet was fine. So unless you absolutely love your current vet, I really reccommend a visit to the Interbay Animal Hospital. I can almost guarentee that you'll never go to another vet again. Read Less

Our family has vets in both Seattle,WA and Mesa, AZ. Taking one of our Manchesters to Dr Coffin is always an enjoyable experience...not just a veterinary visit. He is caring and gentle with the girls (and boy) taking time to let them get acquainted with him during the visit. From a personal perspective, I enjoy talking with Dr Coffin about the latest research and trends in the veterinary field. Not only does he take time with the girls (and boy) but he cares about the challenges of maintaining the health when our dogs are spending time in two diversely different climates. I appreciate that the Interbay staff has also been very helpful in handling the challenges of fitting us into sometimes very short time windows due to travel constraints. All the staff appear to have genuine care and concern about the well being of our four legged friends. Dr Coffin has a good kennelside manner with our dogs and excellent people skills. Anyone looking for a veterinarian who stays current in his field would be well served to take their valued companions to Interbay. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

I have been taking my dog here for years - since he was about 9 weeks in fact (he's recently turned 7 y/o).  We've recently gone through a rough time with a myriad of symptoms my dog began to experience.  Through the entire process, the doctors were honest, caring, strategic and informative with their approach.  Ultimately,  they were able to figure out what was going on and went over and beyond to do so.  It seems my pup has a pretty rare condition; however, he is feeling much better because of the doctors and staff at Interbay Veterinary.  Thanks you guys!

Read Less

Read Less

I recently took my 6-year old dog to see Dr. Coffin. As our dog was a ""new patient"", Dr. Coffin spent almost two hours with us. He examined our dog thoroughly and rather than forcing her up on the metal examining table, he got down on his knees and checked her thoroughly on the carpet where she was much more comfortable. He answered every question I could have had and I feel confident that as our dog ages, he will be right there every step of the way to assist in whatever way he's needed. A lovely vet. If only there were more people doctors who were as thorough and generous with their time. Read Less

We started taking our cat to Interbay animal hospital after he suffered a foot injury. The staff was very friendly and the vet techs were very patient with our stubborn feline. The clinic is very clean and tidy, we felt just fine about leaving our cat in their hands. The vets were up front about our treatment options and costs and we've had nothing but positive experiences with Interbay animal hospital since. Read Less
