We boarded our dog Cookie here and it was a painless check in process. Cookie was already a patient here so they have all her vaccine records. The boarding was affordable with no frills, they walked her 3 times a day, fed her as scheduled and had doggy play time for $8/day. All in all, we were pleased with our experience and will board her here again if we need to leave town in the future.

The staff here have always been friendly and helpful. The vet tech taking my cat's vitals seemed a bit nervous and I would have felt more relaxed had she been a bit more self-confident, but she got the job done. There was also some confusion about which vet we would be seeing, but all of the vets I have worked with here in recent years have been good, so it worked out ok.
I really like that this clinic allows me to stay with my cat during the exam. Other vet hospitals we have visited whisk the cat away while I remain in the lobby, then my cat gets anxious and aggressive and the exam doesn't go well. At The Family Pet, because I am able to stay with my cat, she stays more calm and the exam is less stressful for everyone.
I also like that several of the vets here have been interested in complementary and alternative medicine. They have been happy to suggest use of herbs, dietary supplements, and lifestyle changes rather than relying on pharmaceuticals.
I love that the clinic is open 7 days a week. Scheduling is easy here and fees are very reasonable.
I also love that that they had little catnip toys for the cats.

We have had an amazing experience with Dr. Hilmoe as our primary vet for the past 12 years. We have had 2 Boston Terriers and one of them had many health issues over the years. She is gentle, thoughtful, caring, and smart. A great doctor. We have also seen many of the other doctors and overall have had great experiences, including some urgent/emergent visits. The staff is friendly & helpful. And the hours & location make it extremely convenient for us.

My family is so grateful for the wonderful care that The Family Pet provided for my dog. Dr. Parker was very gentle and caring when she gave my dog her annual check up. She also gave specific examples on how I can manage my dog’s weight better. She was thorough and easy to understand.
The staff was also very polite, thoughtful and sweet when they took my dog for boarding. They were very patient in answering all my questions. Their gentle and caring demeanor helped put our minds at ease while we are away. They treated my dog as if she was their own and even provided me with feedback about how my dog did when I picked her up. I am so happy to have found a trusted veterinary clinic and boarding for my beloved dog.

All the vets and staff we've met there have been very helpful and compassionate. Dr. Hilmoe has been our main vet and she's wonderful. We've been using Family Pet for years. This is an exceptional clinic; caring and extremely thorough with regard to both diagnosis and treatment. The compassion exhibited when we lost our elderly cat several years back was so very kind and thoughtful and helped us to get through a most difficult time. Dr. Hilmoe in particular is the best.... she has an amazing way of communicating with both pets and their owners. The Family Pet is also good about calling to see how things are going after treatment is provided. This is particularly important with older pets.

The Family Pet is the best vet practice we've ever gone to. After a poor experience at another local vet, our friend recommended the Family Pet. Their care and patience are outstanding. The doctors themselves are available for phone calls and we regularly get follow up calls after visits. We have a cat with chronic care issues and everyone at the Family Pet has been incredibly helpful and kind. I highly recommend them.

You should be ashamed of the care you give to animals staying overnight. The terror and whelp and crying all through the night by animals under your care is wholely inhumane. Any animal under that much distress is worst for your care. Shame on you. If it was a person's house I would call the humane society and the city. What poor creatures under your care. Perviously I had an animal I brought and now go farther away to another vet before this, but this, this poor dog crying all night. Shame on you. Terribly upsetting I feel terrible for the animal, I feel terrible for the owner who is going to pay you thousands for this disgraceful and inhumane treatment of their animal.

I wish I had a million dollars to hand over to the staff. The reception, techs, dr, EVERYONE. My little dog became quite ill and despite their exceptionally busy day, they found a way to take him in. Believe me, they really did not have time to do what they did, but they did it. When I talked with Dr. Parker about his progress, I was totally satisfied. She was clear, calm, spoke slowly, listened, answered all questions, and was very thorough. I won't go in to more details, however; they are all expert at what they do. Gizmo is never going to be cured forever, I really already knew that. But the treatment, medications, referral, and explanations were over the top. Thanks to all!! Sarah

We love Family Pet, and so does our Alaskan Klee Kai puppy Raffi. After a negative experience at another local vet, we called around many places for quotes on typical puppy services. Family Pet was by far the most reasonable, and before we even came in they were very patient with our calls and questions. Staff is all super friendly. They don't gauge you for simple follow-ups. When our puppy wouldn't eat or take pills after surgery, they showed me simple techniques to do the trick. We really love the staff, and are happy we found a great vet for our first family dog!

I started taking my pets to The Family Pet thirty years ago. Mostly I have a cat or two at a time, though I have had dogs and birds treated there. There have been ups and downs, because in that time I have had to say good-bye to furry family members as well as the routine shots and exams. Without slighting the other vets, Mary Kay Hilmoe should get a Nobel Prize for pet care.Recently we have been impressed by how well the staff coordinates care with other care agencies, like the feline hyperthyroid unit at Cats Exclusive. On a more mundane level, they are open Sundays. That may not seem impressive, but having a cat get sick on Saturday night can be a crisis.

The only vet clinic we have gone to for the last 17 years. Dr Hilmoe is the best! Compassionate, knowledgeable, professional, and personable. She has seen all of our dogs over nearly two decades, and I couldn't be more grateful for her warmth, wisdom and expertise. I completely trust her and have the best feeling about the care provided for my dogs at The Family Pet. I highly recommend this veterinary clinic.

I've been a client of The Family Pet for twenty years, they have seen me and my furry family members through sickness and health, births and deaths with nothing less than kindness and empathy. I recently adopted three feral kittens that required bottle feeding. This is my first experience raising kittens and the staff at the Family Pet have been amazingly supportive and helpful. They don't make me feel stupid when I call in with questions or concerns that turn out to be perfectly normal, and made the shots / spay / microchip process practically painless! I am so thankful for vets that genuinely love my pets and put up with me!

The first time I went, folks were polite and the vet was helpful and engaged.
The second time, different vet, much colder, seemed to care less.
The third time I called in when my dog was seriously ill. All they had to offer was "drop off" service the following day, where I could leave my pet there in the morning and MAYBE by the end of the day they would be able to look at her. No other help, suggestions, questions...just like I was putting them out by having a sick dog.
Called another vet, who was very helpful and recommended another hospital. My dog was immediately hospitalized with a high fever along w/ her other symptoms, and was sick enough to need to stay there for a few days.
God knows what would have happened if I just "dropped my dog off" for them to look at when they got around to it.
Me and the pup will never be returning, and I would suggest that no one else go there either.

Today my family and I took my dog who had passed away and that I've had since I was young to The Family Pet. We had called multiple times that she was in poor condition and with the final phone call that she had passed and they said they would have a room set up for us. When we got to the facility, we carried our wonderful golden inside and they had us place her on THE FLOOR between kennels of dogs that were barking at her. This is where they said we could say our final goodbyes to our dog, Chancey. There was no love given to our dog, and she was treated as just another dead dog. I will be telling all of my friends with pets to never attend this clinic due to the mistreatment of my family member. The last time I saw my dog was lying on a concrete floor with dogs in kennels barking at her. I have lost my respect for this vet clinic.

I have an extremely senior cat that doesn't travel well so I was looking for a vet closer to home. I was very specific about what her medical requirements were and The Family Vet gave me a quote for the visit that seemed reasonable so I made the appointment.
Half an hour into the visit I was handed an estimate that was more than double what I had been quoted on the phone. Rather than try to make anything right the vet sent the receptionist in to apologize while she hid in her office. Way to throw your own employees under the bus and way to do business. I would give zero stars if it was an option.

We have taken our two cats and puppy to Family Pet for over 4 years now. They have been absolutely wonderful every time. They offer lots of different services and have always been good about explaining the treatment recommended. They genuinely care about our animals and when we leave the little one for a weekend boarding, they always take great care of him. We could not be happier with them!

I wish I had a million dollars to hand over to the staff. The reception, techs, dr, EVERYONE. My little dog became quite ill and despite their exceptionally busy day, they found a way to take him in. Believe me, they really did not have time to do what they did, but they did it. When I talked with Dr. Parker about his progress, I was totally satisfied. She was clear, calm, spoke slowly, listened, answered all questions, and was very thorough. I won't go in to more details, however; they are all expert at what they do. Gizmo is never going to be cured forever, I really already knew that. But the treatment, medications, referral, and explanations were over the top. Thanks to all!! Sarah

We love Family Pet, and so does our Alaskan Klee Kai puppy Raffi. After a negative experience at another local vet, we called around many places for quotes on typical puppy services. Family Pet was by far the most reasonable, and before we even came in they were very patient with our calls and questions. Staff is all super friendly. They don't gauge you for simple follow-ups. When our puppy wouldn't eat or take pills after surgery, they showed me simple techniques to do the trick. We really love the staff, and are happy we found a great vet for our first family dog!

I started taking my pets to The Family Pet thirty years ago. Mostly I have a cat or two at a time, though I have had dogs and birds treated there. There have been ups and downs, because in that time I have had to say good-bye to furry family members as well as the routine shots and exams. Without slighting the other vets, Mary Kay Hilmoe should get a Nobel Prize for pet care.Recently we have been impressed by how well the staff coordinates care with other care agencies, like the feline hyperthyroid unit at Cats Exclusive. On a more mundane level, they are open Sundays. That may not seem impressive, but having a cat get sick on Saturday night can be a crisis.

The only vet clinic we have gone to for the last 17 years. Dr Hilmoe is the best! Compassionate, knowledgeable, professional, and personable. She has seen all of our dogs over nearly two decades, and I couldn't be more grateful for her warmth, wisdom and expertise. I completely trust her and have the best feeling about the care provided for my dogs at The Family Pet. I highly recommend this veterinary clinic.

Very caring and thorough in exams and explanations. Now taking my second dog to them. Easy to get to with on site parking helps too. Do grooming too! Drs. Hilmoe and Nagasako both are terrific.

I've been a client of The Family Pet for twenty years, they have seen me and my furry family members through sickness and health, births and deaths with nothing less than kindness and empathy. I recently adopted three feral kittens that required bottle feeding. This is my first experience raising kittens and the staff at the Family Pet have been amazingly supportive and helpful. They don't make me feel stupid when I call in with questions or concerns that turn out to be perfectly normal, and made the shots / spay / microchip process practically painless! I am so thankful for vets that genuinely love my pets and put up with me!

The first time I went, folks were polite and the vet was helpful and engaged.
The second time, different vet, much colder, seemed to care less.
The third time I called in when my dog was seriously ill. All they had to offer was "drop off" service the following day, where I could leave my pet there in the morning and MAYBE by the end of the day they would be able to look at her. No other help, suggestions, questions...just like I was putting them out by having a sick dog.
Called another vet, who was very helpful and recommended another hospital. My dog was immediately hospitalized with a high fever along w/ her other symptoms, and was sick enough to need to stay there for a few days.
God knows what would have happened if I just "dropped my dog off" for them to look at when they got around to it.
Me and the pup will never be returning, and I would suggest that no one else go there either.

Today my family and I took my dog who had passed away and that I've had since I was young to The Family Pet. We had called multiple times that she was in poor condition and with the final phone call that she had passed and they said they would have a room set up for us. When we got to the facility, we carried our wonderful golden inside and they had us place her on THE FLOOR between kennels of dogs that were barking at her. This is where they said we could say our final goodbyes to our dog, Chancey. There was no love given to our dog, and she was treated as just another dead dog. I will be telling all of my friends with pets to never attend this clinic due to the mistreatment of my family member. The last time I saw my dog was lying on a concrete floor with dogs in kennels barking at her. I have lost my respect for this vet clinic.

I have an extremely senior cat that doesn't travel well so I was looking for a vet closer to home. I was very specific about what her medical requirements were and The Family Vet gave me a quote for the visit that seemed reasonable so I made the appointment.
Half an hour into the visit I was handed an estimate that was more than double what I had been quoted on the phone. Rather than try to make anything right the vet sent the receptionist in to apologize while she hid in her office. Way to throw your own employees under the bus and way to do business. I would give zero stars if it was an option.

We have taken our two cats and puppy to Family Pet for over 4 years now. They have been absolutely wonderful every time. They offer lots of different services and have always been good about explaining the treatment recommended. They genuinely care about our animals and when we leave the little one for a weekend boarding, they always take great care of him. We could not be happier with them!
