This hospital is by far one of the best. Bella was sick, she was VERY sick. We stayed up all night and late into the morning trying to find a vet that would work with us. We had just purchased our first house with unexpected dues and were waiting on a payment scheduled for the first. We were down to our last $60. Scraping by to get food on the table and make three more trips to Port Angeles to pick up the kid. We had one week left, and Bella got VERY VERY sick. Infact she had… pyometra, and needed to be spayed immediately. I was recommended Ridgetop after calling Banfield in a last ditch effort. Their staff is over the top! They are patient, caring, understanding, and even inject a bit of humor during hard times. We were amazed with everything they did for us and for Bella. She was in and out in one day with everything she needed to stay healthy. This morning came with a brand new Bella, she was behaving like she did when I first met her a year ago. She is less grumpy and territorial, her fun hating self lightened up. All she wants to do is stay near her people and eat. The plus side is no more messy heat cycles! We really appreciated the next morning call letting us know that the entire staff were thinking of Bella and wanted to check in with us. Bella must have made quite an impression on the staff. We know it's a 40 minute drive from our house, but in our eyes it's worth it. If you have to take your animal in, be it for a check up... shots... god forbid an emergency... take them to Ridgetop. We had a VERY sick kitty. We are new to the area and had not established animal care yet. They got us in on a Saturday, and rushed him straight into surgery. The entire staff was helpful and compassionate. They found the issue right away and explained the details of the procedure and aftercare. 14 hair ties! I would say this is not a bargain vet, if that is what you are looking for, but not any more than you would spend anywhere else. $68 visit fee for a same day appointment; sometimes you pay for convenience. I know animal clinics VERY well and can comfortably say Ridgetop is one of the best clinics I’ve been to. The great thing about hospitals with multiple clinicians is if one personality doesn’t quite fit your style, there is always another vet on staff. There are 2 full time veterinarians and one very part time doctor that I request, but I leave it to you to find the right fit for you and your furry companion (or perhaps your hairless cat or dog, I hate to discriminate)! We have been going here for almost 11 years. We used to love it, but over the last couple years the service has become awful. We call in for refills and are told they will call you when ready, never call, ever; more over it's hit or miss if a vet actually refills prescription. Recently I called in for a prescription that was out of refills, I was told it would be ready the next day. When I went to pick it up I was then I formed that my dog had to be seen again prior to refill…ing....why could they not tell me this earlier? I make the appointment for that week, take off work, bring in my pets and the vet says that we are good to go, and will send the script to the pharmacy. I get to the pharmacy and they don't have it; so I call back to the vet today, only to be put on terminal hold, then the tech tells me that there is not a note in my pets chart for the script. THAT was the whole reason we went in to the vet, and we specifically discussed this with the vet at the appointment. How can you care so little for your business and customers? My dog Bear recently came down with an infection and wouldn't eat, drink, or really do much of anything. This was very unlike him as he is usually very rambunctious and full of energy. I was super worried, so my husband and I took him to Ridgetop and I am happy to report that after seeing Dr. Sutten and Dr. Snyder he is all better now! When I moved to Washington, I would take my dog to Ridgetop and always enjoyed them as a vet, but when I got my second dog and noticed she had some discoloration on her teeth and she would barely eat her food, they said she had some broken teeth and gave her some meds and me a hefty tooth extraction estimate. Fast forward to now where I work at a vet clinic and my boss did a dental on my dog, but found no broken teeth. I feel these guys price you for unnecessary things and I was very disappointed in them. Had to take our dachshund in today for an unplanned vet appt. She had never been here before , yet they got her in right away -an hour and a half after opening, on a Saturday! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, up front with pricing prior to doing anything and even had snacks and drinks for the kids! Slow and incommunicative. It took 40 minutes just to get my very sick cat checked in. They finished her tests two and a half hours later and didn't call me. I finally called them to ask what was up six hours after dropoff and it took nearly another hour to get 12 dose syringes of meds and get out of there. You would be better off going to Banfield just down the road. Read Less

I have taken several of my animals here when I lived here several years ago and again now that I have moved home. The staff is nice and I like to doctors, although Dr. Paulson is hard to get into. While they have done a great job with all of my dogs I have to say they are extremely pricey. I received an estimate of around $450 yesterday when I took my dog in for throwing up blood. I ended up paying close to $800 for her and another over $400 for my second dog I brought in later in the day for the same problem. An over $1,200 bill for supportive care and blood work? That's a little much. I've raised dogs for years and lived in several states and haven't been charged that much even for after hours emergency visits. I do like this hospital and staff but I'll have to really think hard about returning because of this. Read Less

I wished I've learned about their fb page sooner, this seems to be the way to get a mgs across these days...anyhow, Dr Paulson has been my vet for the past 13 years and in that time frame he's taken care of all my 5 BIG doggies. I can't express the graditude i feel in my heart for all he's done for us and I wanna take this opportunity to thank him from the bottom of my heart! Every visit, every surgery has always been a success...and believe me there were many of them! Dr Paulson always takes the time to explain, never gives you a feeling of being rushed and always returns your phone calls...what impressed me the most over the years was that he will not rush to surgery without exploring other healing options first, but when he says we have to then i know it's really necessary. We adopted a kitten from the Humane Society and within a few hours it became clear she was sick. I called and they got us in within 2 hours. The vet tech and vet were amazingly sweet and you could tell really love the animals they see. They took time to explain everything since this is our first cat. They gave us everything we needed to get her on the mend and we just cant thank the whole staff enough!!! We have two boxers and our new kitten and I think we found our new vet since we are new to the area! Read Less

We have brought our boxer there a few times based on reviews. Staff is nice but very disappointed that we NEVER ONCE received a follow up phone call after care as was mentioned to check up on our dog. Especially when one doctor says thats what they pride on and it's unacceptable to not call and check up.. Surprise - no call. Staff should take a little more time and care for each of their patients and their owners. OH and charging for an "immediate appointment" and not being seen for 24 hours later - not cool at all. I love and trust this vet and staff, I have seen Dr. Paulson for at least 20 years even before Ridgetop opened while he was still in Bremerton. Sometimes I have cheated to go somewhere closer but have never found anybody I like more so we end up right back here. I have always found him direct, easy to talk to and he always gives us options in care for us to decide what one will work best or fit into our budget. I have had many pets over the years and he has done many surgeries on my pets such as a cat with hip dysplasia, many spays and neuters, fixed numerous nose/skin/ears/eye troubles because I have a fondness for squishy faces and even removed a round rock from my dog's intestine that was blocking it. I have always found him to be up to date with information and I trust him 100%. I have never felt he overcharged or over diagnosed to make $$. I cheated on Dr. Paulson earlier in the year with another vet to save $$ on a spay(I should have not done this, it was a French Bulldog but I really didn't think such a routine procedure could turn out so bad and Ridgetop's spay included lots of things that the other vet did not) and the clinic (Bayview in Bremerton) called shortly after the spay to tell me that my dog went through the spay just fine but died after from missing a breath. I was truly devastated and I have to say that even though I took my dog to another vet, Ridgetop grieved with me, sent me a condolence card and the Dr. Paulson called and comforted me while I was sobbing on the phone. The staff was so good to me through this and I really can't express how thankful I was knowing that it wasn't even their office that caused my situation. After my Frenchie died, I got Boston puppy and when she was spayed (I believe strongly that pets that aren't going to be bred should be neutered and even though I was scared, I took a leap of faith), they put 2 people on her after to make sure she didn't miss a breath and treated it very specially under the circumstances. Even though Ridgetop had nothing to do with my loss, they have went over and above making me feel comfortable and confident and I couldn't have asked for better care from Dr. Paulson and the whole staff. Not only are they a great place to take your dog (not a cat person, sorry) for medical care, but they also have remained reasonably priced when it comes to pet medical care. Very friendly staff. First place I went with my special needs child that treated me well and didn't look at my child like he was a monster. The girl in training told me that I had a very handsome boy (after a terrible meltdown) and another helped me to the car as my son was struggling with his emotions. I honestly about cried. Not only that, but they treated my cat very well and were honest with me and did not try to scam me out of money. I called around and most places were charging twice as much for blood work. To be completely honest, my review is not 5 stars because of the people who work the front and answer phones. This past Saturday, I called because my pet's condition had begun to deteriorate substantially. I wanted her to be seen here because she had been seen three other times within the last 10 days and I felt would receive better care. After explaining my pet's history and what was happening currently I asked for an appointment . She needed to be seen immediately and I thought that was abundantly clear, but they told me that she couldn't until Monday. More than 48 hours away. I was appalled, especially since I specifically said, "her condition is deteriorating substantially." I didn't know what else to do, and already feeling panicked about my pet so I just accepted the appointment. Instincts kicked in and I found another facility (emergency) that would see her. They took her immediately, but she ended up passing away receiving critical care. In the back of my head, all I wonder is if those hours I was pretty much refused care by the office staff made the difference. I am saddened and my children are struggling with their loss. I am disappointed that no attempt was made to get her in on Saturday given her condition and the fact that the facility had already seen her three previous times and knew her recent history.Read Less

This is the first vet my cat has liked! They're amazing: the front desk staff, the vet techs, the vet. The prices are about 1/3 what I used to pay and the care is excellent. I like a vet who is kind to my pet, provides excellent care, and clearly explains things to me, but does not try to upsell like crazy with cutesy extras (though their doggie bandanas are really adorable). They get my cat in same day when he is hurt, and their same-day visit cost isn't that bad. I've never had to wait long for an appointment, and their hours are great. But ultimately, it really comes down to: this is the first vet my cat has liked. Read Less
