My husband and I took our cat blue into the emergency room on Monday because they couldn't get us an appointment for over a week and I felt he needed to be seen. He was sneezing, coughing and had green discharge coming from his eyes and nose. We had just adopted him from the humane society a week prior and I thought that he probably had fhv-1 which is feline herpes virus, something very common in cats especially cats that are around other cats in kennels and such. The vet looked at Blue and said that he most likely has fhv-1 virus and that since it's a virus he just has to get over it on his own. The herpes virus can cause a secondary infection though which would explain why he kept getting worse and the discharge from his eyes and nose were green ( indicator for infection.) She refused to give anything for him and sent us home. The next day I called and asked if I could speak to the vet again and reception just said no that a tech can talk to you. I told the tech that blue stayed awake all night coughing and weezing and just over all getting worse. She again said that those symptoms did not indicate an infection so no antibiotics could be given. The tech that I spoke to was very rude, did not care about the situation or my cat. Everytime I would ask her a question she just put me on hold and then would come back with a one word answer. We took our cat to another vet later that same day and was immediately given antibiotics for blue in fact the new vet said not only did he have a bacterial infection but that a lot of vets will prescribe antibiotics as a precaution so that the cat doesn't develop a secondary infection with can lead to pneumonia and even death. Blue is already acting much better just a little cough is left over now. I will never trust my pets with them again!!! Read Less

I went in there just yesterday for my Cat Figaro, I cant even believe I spent 700 dollars for the information that they gave me, Which was nothing. I took Figaro in because I'm pretty sure he has Blunt Force Trauma to the head. His Jaw clicks, His nose is STILL profusely bleeding (Not 1 nostril, Both). I took him in, the Vet Marcus took a look at him and also confirmed that he heard the clicking in his jaw and also told me he thought it was broken that he needed xrays of his Skull. Which I was all for! At that point I didnt care how much I had to pay or how long it took to get the information that I needed. I was there at 2, I didnt leave till 8:20. When I sat down and talked to the Vet about the Xrays he told me Figaros Jaw wasnt broken ( That's Fantastic!) However all the other questions I had for my Cat like the Clicking in the Jaw and the Nosebleed that he has had since Friday.... He didnt even know! He guessed! For all of it! "Sir? What is causing his Jaw to Click?" Vet- "Oh I guess mayyybe it could be this.... But I dont think that's what it is...." "Maybe it could be this...? Ohhh but I dont think it's that either..." 700 dollars to have a vet guess what is wrong with my Cat... He cant tell me why his nose is still bleeding? Was that NOT a concern when I took him in? He also cant tell me why his Jaw is still Clicking?? Is that not why I also took him in? Honestly I will NEVER take another one of my pets here because clearly he had no love or compassion for an Animal that was clearly and is still clearly in pain even after all that money that was pretty much just racked up from me sitting there for 2 hours before actually being seen. All it was for this business was just money, They dont actually care to find the real root of a problem even in an emergency which I clearly paid for. Soooo THANKS FOR NOTHING VCA!! I hope you feel better tonight knowing that you Conned me out of 700 dollars while my Cat is in pain and bleeding profusely from his nose and can still barely breathe. Read Less

The good was Carly, the vet assistant who was attentive and empathetic. She was great I only wish the other personnel were half as good. The front desk (Cindy) was odd as the reception person, would not look at me when I asked her questions regarding records, instead would answer my questions talking to the assistant. She greeted people looking at her computer, she sounds nice but it seems like it's rote and not really personal since she won't really look at you when she is speaking to you. I mentioned it was off putting and rude. I talked to the doctor (Rees) for a short bit and one of the first things she mentioned was getting a rabies shot. I said I thought he was current and she went on to say that none of his records say that (from other vets) and that it's state law. We continued to discuss his health issues and I had told the assistant that I wanted to do chemistry blood tests due to a new med he was using. The doctor recommended that we do a full senior panel on him. I told her he just had that done but that I did want to do the chems for the new med. I told her that we had done the full senior panel at VCA Olympic within the last month, but they didn't find his record, I told her I could email that to her. She agreed and then said that it would only take a short bit to do the "renal" blood test and she carried him out. My impression was that she was coming back, but several minutes later the assistant came back in and delivered my dog and said here is the rabies cert. I was surprised and said I didn't agree to do a rabies shot. She apologized and I said that it wasn't her fault but that I didn't agree to a rabies shot. So, my question is, how does VCA know that my dog was not up to date on his rabies? I said he was to the assistant and then to the doctor I said I thought he was. We have gotten rabies done at Petco in the past, that could easily why it wasn't in his records. Besides I told her they didn't have all his records. I want to know why, based on a perusal of a stack of records, she assumed she knew. I never gave permission and she went ahead and did it anyhow. I had told her I was looking for a primary care vet because we've had issues with our previous vets, generally administrative/communications. I guess it is back to the drawing board. Finding a really great vet is like finding a needle in a haystack. I was not impressed. Read Less

I would definitely stay far away from vca in silverdale! I took my dog in there this weekend with all of his records and xrays from his normal vet. They are way over priced, the tech argued with me about my dog being up to date on his shots( he is current), pushed tests my usual vet already ran. Needless to say, I paid $100 for them to tell me they would be a glorified over night babysitter for anywhere between $1900-$2400. Definitely not impressed and I will never take my dog back there ever again. Read Less

We took our cat Bailey in and she was taken back immediately. Everyone was very nice. Our vet Addie was very sweet and sympathetic. She walked us through everything we could do and should. She didn’t try to push us to do unnecessary tests. She was upfront and honest that we were most likely going to lose our kitty instead of letting us believe we should continue to go through a bunch of tests only hurting our cat more. Our cat was in a lot of pain and unlike a lot of vets she wasn’t in it for the money she was looking out for our pets best interest. Even though the pain of losing our cat has been unimaginable our experience there was still good. I’d recommend this place to anyone. Regardless of us losing our girl, the kindness we were shown really helped ease the pain. Today we received a really sweet sympathy card from Addie which made my husband and I so happy to see. She didn’t have to send that card. She wrote some sweet things and this was very unexpected. It’s that extra mile that she took that meant everything. Addie, if you see this, we appreciate you SO MUCH. We miss our Bailey but thank you everyone at VCA Central Kitsap Animal Hospital. Read Less

We had to make that scary decision last night to not wait for our regular vet appointment and take our poor pup into the VCA after- hours. I'm no idiot, I know that means a big bill but I was completely unaware of the amazingly imaginative ways they can find to bleed you dry of all your money and emotions. Upon initial tests we were informed our poor guy was in liver failure and they had seen dogs not make it through this. We were encouraged to leave him for 2 days for tests and treatment. We were scared to tears. Then they brought out their bill that required a 75% down payment. We refused the second day and their hypothetical $300 buffer misc charge when it all added up to $3700. We negotiated paying for just one night to see how it turns out. About 8 hours later they called...he's fine. Couldn't find anything wrong. Probably ate something. We can pick him up at 4. Not even 24 hours later and our bill for the stomach ache/ your dog is dying from liver failure...$2000. Non negotiable BS. $600 for IV saline, $600 for US, $600 to walk in the door and see someone and so on...I am sick to my stomach. I can't imagine how bad it must be for those who bring your poor pets in without thousands of dollars to afford care and your pet truly needs it. Disgusts me. Praying on the love we have for our sweet fur family. I will not allow anyone I know take their pet there. Read Less

When I had to put my dog down, they were so supportive. They gave me time alone with her and allowed me to hold her as they medicated her. The only thing that was needed was to have a chux pad under her so that when she passed I didn't get all wet as her bladder released. I have since rescued another dog and VCA has been my primary vet for her. They have taken great care of both of us. I have purchased their Care Plan which I am not sure I will continue next year. I figured I would try it because my new dog needed her teeth cleaned and 4 teeth pulled. Over the year I think it will probably be about even on what I spend for the plan and what I would have spent if I paid for it all myself but we will see. Read Less

This animal hostpital has horrible employees especially Kaela. She seems to have an attitude and is very very rude and unprofessional I took my dog in their to be seen for his foot he was injured and I needed emergency treatment for him. When I went in I had to wait for a very long time and there were hardly any customers then I went to pay for his treatment and she would not give him his medicine til I paid. I tried to use my care credit but didn't have my account number and they made me pay cash and would not give me a refund when I found my care credit.. This while time my dog was still in pain. The doctor was very nice to my dog and I felt she treated him with alright service overall it just the other staff they need to replace them with people who aren't so rude and who are friendlier. I was very upset trusting them to treat my dog after their rude attitudes. At this Time I Will never go there again unless it's an emergency even though I liked the doctor the other staff just ruined the reputation of this animal hostpital. Luckily my dog didn't need surgery we both were very happy to leave that rude place again Kaela should not be working there she is rude and very unprofessional Read Less

They are pretty good with my cats. I like how they segregate the waiting area for cats and dogs. The Care Club plan really cuts down the costs of exams and shots into low monthly payments. They worked with me on getting signed up with that. However, I do think one of the receptionists pocketed a $50 bill. I was sure that I handed her $200 cash. I expected money back the next day, but was told that I owed them. I told them to check their register, but whatever. Overall, I think this was good place to start. It was clean. However, I will probably drop the care plan after a year and find a cheaper alternative. Although, payments are cheap. I do believe the overall total cost of those payments are too much. It works for now, though. Read Less

I have been into this place once for my old dog this summer and another time for my roommates cat. I wanted to bring my new dog here and was looking online and noticed they are a free initial visit so I printed it off and made an appointment. Never have I ever had animal in their primary care only in the ER. I was told they wouldn't honor the coupon. I thought that was not right so I decided to cancel the appointment as there are other vets closer to my home with better online reviews and that I have had experience with. No I wasn't only going to go there because of the free visit but because I also did have a good experience there before. There is nothing wrong with my dog she is only 4 weeks old and I was just getting a well puppy check on her and her litter mate before the other puppy goes to her forever home. So I decided to cancel the appointment and asked the girl to do so. I received a call the next day but was at work and they did not leave a message. I called back and got nothing but attitude on the phone. I asked the girl to please removed my name and number so I would stop getting calls if someone couldn't tell me why they were calling and they weren't going to leave a message. The girls response and I quote "Yeah ok whatever, ok bye" and then she proceeded to hang up on me as soon as I said "excuse me" I then called back immediately and asked to speak with a manager. The girl asked if she could get my name. I told her no you cant get my name. She said ok and placed me on hold. she then came back on the line and said that the manager was not available and she could transfer me to her voicemail. I said ok well isn't that convenient. I said I want to know the name of the person I was just speaking with. The girl on the phone said I don't know who that was. I responded by saying well then asked the other girls at the front who was just speaking with Kelli. The girl on the phone refused to ask and said there was no way for her to find that out. I said I want to talk to the manager. She then proceeded to tell me that the manager wasn't in today. I said so you are refusing for me to talk to a manager and refusing to give me the name of the person I was on the phone with before. She again repeated that she has no way to find that out. I know for a fact that's not true I am sure the person was sitting right next to her or it was her. I put in a call to the corporate headquarters to file a complaint due to the customer service but wanted to write a review as well because this type of customer service is unacceptable. I don't know what has happened to this place because they used to be so sweet. Read Less

First off I would like to say that every 5 star rating is from a person that probably works there, cause they sound scripted and nothing like what would happen if you really entered this place. This place is a dreaded place of money hungry non-caring cold hearted people. I took my dog in here and I was told if I want the dog to live I would pay the $1900 dollars. I came up with 400 on the spot having friends and family bring me money and even said I could come up with another 400 to 500 within the next couple days. They said it wasn't enough and that there was another way I could give the dog over to them and they would treat the dog but I would have to sign the dog over. I loved this dog dearly so I didn't want anything to happen especially her to die so I signed her over. I'm pretty sure they accidently sent me an email with the bill after signing her over and they just gave her antibotics and some pain meds which totaled $190 dollars. To top it off I had an investigater check into it and apparently that vet adopted my dog. Read Less

We brought our beloved Akita in for torshon (sp? flipped stomach) Unfortunately VCA was the only vet in the area that could take him. My wife said she felt talked down to when she arrived. Initial estimate of the surgery was $6,000-$8000. After we pleaded for help with pricing / payments, they came back with a new estimate of $9,000 - $10,000, minimum of 75% down period. They were good with the euthanasia as far as attitude and empathy, however we were told to push a button when we were ready...Who wants to push a button to have someone come in and kill a family member? Much better way to do this. Also, I understand it is a business... but we were offered a receipt .... "here is the receipt for your euthanasia." They did however take some charges off the bill. Waving some of the fees along with the empathy the Vet Tech showed us is the ONLY reason they have two stars. - My brother just went through this exact issue with his Chow.... his vet charged $3,000 for the exact same procedure. She is fine, and listened very attentively as i explained what happened. This isnt my first pug, but she is new to me, so i may have overreacted a little. She finally coughed out whatever was making her breathing sound abnormal and was perfectly fine. The Dr. Came in, stuck her finger in his swollen butt, without a glove and then told us we needed to do x rays. They were then supposed to call over a prescription to our main vet and that never happened. The staff over the phone was extremely rude to my husband. We were finally able to take him to our regular vet, The Evergreen Vet, they were able to give us medication for parasites, give advice and possibly able to diagnose the issue. Also, they said to use Preperation H on his swollen bum since it was so inflamed and uncomfortable. The issue was solved in one visit and he could have been made more comfortable earlier.

Read Less

I was very impressed with the level of knowledge she had. She gave us a well rounded picture of my birds health, and had a lot of excellent suggestions for him.

Outrageous costs associated with this place.Read Less

I just got home not long ago from taking my 14 week old pug puppy here after an incident where i thought she might have gotten something lodged in her throat or lungs. They did not hesitate to take my little baby back and start inspecting her while i filled out the form with all the information. She is fine, and listened very attentively as i explained what happened. This isnt my first pug, but she is new to me, so i may have overreacted a little. She finally coughed out whatever was making her breathing sound abnormal and was perfectly fine. The cost for the check up was a LOT cheaped than i expected, 58.75, thats half of what i was quoted at the first clinic i called that was about to close. Staff was A+. I highly recommend VCA. We took our 8 week old kitten in because he was having diarrhea, a lot of blood in his stool, and his anus was extremely red and swollen. We literally not only wasted a drive, but money on this emergency vet. I will definitely be spreading the negative word about this place. They only want your money. Read Less
