I want to thank Pilchuck emergency services, doctor and staff and give them a 10 in how they cared for in a quick manner and had so much care and concern for my daughters senior cats end of life situation. She was on vacation and I was looking after her animals. She was able to have a video call and talk with her Tucker as he was being cared for with pain meds, and end of life steps. So heartbreaking but there was so much compassion and I thank them for everything including them consoling me as grandma to Tucker, my grandcat ❤️💔 Read Less

Every staff member I've come across has appeared incompetent and/or unfriendly. I've left every time feeling like I've somehow inconvenienced them by any questions asked, or even just to pick up a medication. They've really gone downhill over the years, and aside from having an appealing/clean looking lobby, their expertise and professionalism is not worth the high cost. I would not recommend them. The rates and services for this place are totally out of line. We had an emergency with our cat that got ran over and Pilchuck was the only one available to help after hours. Little did we know what we were getting into with their outrageous pricing. We were out of town and our sitter was the one handling the situation. They told us over the phone that they weren't sure he'd make it through the night although come to find out it was just his paw that was broken, so thinking back they were fear mongering us for more profit!!! We gave them the benefit of he doubt due to the after hours emergency circumstances and although we believed they were taking advantage of our situation to "gauge" us. Nevertheless, after paying $1,000's (about $5000) for our cats emergency services, we were told to see if his paw would heal on its own over time. So we waited a full year to see how his paw responded and it never has healed since. Last week after a year of healing and no follow-up calls from Pilchuck we decided we need to get his paw either re-broken or removed completely because it's hindering his ability to be get around. Even after our original bad experience with Pilchuck Vet, we wanted to take our cat to the same place he was originally taken to (Pilchuck) because at least they were familiar with the situation and we thought that after paying $1,000's but not fixing him that they would be considerate and do what they could for a fair price. They said they recommend amputation and quoted $1200-$1500 which we we're thinking was high but that's the best they said they could do. So we scheduled the appointment for surgery anyways and then my wife took the day off work to bring him in on the day of surgery. At the last minute they started gauging us again, now saying it will be $1800-$2200 and were extremely unapologetic when my wife reminded them we were quoted nearly $1000 less originally (last week). If you can find any other resource to help with your animals I highly recommend going somewhere else. It's obvious that Pilchuck Veterinary does not care about the animals, they only care about the money and they will take full advantage of you in your weakest and most vulnerable moments. This place is totally unethical, they are fear mongers looking to make a quick buck and we're now looking at our options to complain to the authorities for possible compliance violations. Read Less

Took my 6month old Pitbull in for an appointment I scheduled the day before for routine vaccines. When I walked in I checked in at the front desk and was told to sit and wait, not even allowing me to introduce explain I had an appointment. After ten minutes they ask for my dogs name (she had been here before) and I explained the account was under my girlfriends name and the pet to be seen is Maggie. 15min later they have us head back to an examination room. The vet tech starts going through her file and I tell her the round of vaccines we are here for and everything seems fine. The vet then comes in and administers two vaccines and says to have a nice day. The vet tech excused herself and comes back a short while later with the receipt of what was administered. To my horror the paper work showed an entirely different woman with an entirely different dog whose name happened to be Maggie but was a 9year old bulldog. I get the vet techs attention and point this out as she then collected my paperwork and left the exam room in a rush. The Vet comes back in and explains there was a mix up at reception and is very sorry but they had given my dog the wrong vaccines.. upon the discovery she gave an immediate examination and kept apologizing and asked if I wanted her to proceed with the vaccines she was originally supposed to get. Long story short they reduced the price (down to $100) and said if my dog became ill to come back free of charge. Point is there were no checks or balances and it was extremely unsettling that anything like this could even take place. They didn’t asked anything in the exam room before administering the vaccines. This place is dangerous and I highly suggest taking your pets elsewhere. Read Less

Had a late night issue with our cat and a sudden urinary blockage emergency. Only place open was there. Flew down fast. They took him back. Half hour later came out and said he had a bad blockage and that we should do a $2000 surgery to fix it and urged me to get a care credit card for this purpose. Knowing more than they expected I told them the surgery was ridiculous. I was pushed into the care credit card since I had no money. It was approved for just enough to get him cleaned out. Took him to a regular vet the next day and he said the exact same thing as I did. He knew about the surgery but said in this case it was no where near needed. He said get him on a urinary s.o. Diet of food and he will be fine. Never had a problem since. I only give 2 stars because he is still alive. Hmm... Read Less

Where to start... I took my dog in for an emergency that they seemed concerned about at first, but after 3 hrs of back and forth on costs vs. necessities they ended up more concerned with a minor issue that could've waited for her regular vet the next day. This place is DEFINITELY money-driven in ways beyond basic business. My issue wasn't that we couldn't afford the Tx's, it was all the extra things that had nothing to do with the emergency at hand; and the lack of compassion for my service dog that just needed immediate stitches on her chin - not liver tests and $1,500 X-rays.needless to say we won't be going back; next emergency we'll take the equally long drive to Everett Animal Hospital (caring AND affordable) Read Less

I love the care that Dr. John and Dr. Duke provide, but a pet owner should know and watch the medications you are provided by the Pharmacy or the tech, whomever is in charge of that.  I am not even sure there is an actual pharmacist, which is now troublesome. I was almost out the door with the wrong medication until I noticed it. For the past several months, I seem to have a very difficult time getting medications refilled and now being provided with the wrong medication, is just dangerous. I am highly disappointed with that aspect of the Veterinarian provider whom I have trusted for over 20 years, with both small and large animals. I finally complained but not sure it really went any further than the front desk. It felt very apathetic. Read Less

Took our farm cat into the vet because he had a wound on his paw that was swollen and seemed very slow to heal, wanted to make sure there was no infection.Consultation with the doctor recommended we leave the cat with them for few hours and that they shave the area and clean his wounds. During the consultation we were offered three different types of post-op pain killers that we could give the cat, each with a different cost. I asked to choose the type of pain killer based on how he was doing post-op. I told them I'd take the cat home, see how he was doing and come come back later in the evening if needed. He was not acting like he was in great pain and the pain killer was an additional 50 dollars. When I picked the cat up a few hours later they had administered the most expensive form of post-op pain killer, a shot. They never called me and charged me the full price without explanation.Pilchuck is incredibly convenient but I will likely start taking my pets to another vet. Read Less

Every once in awhile you come across a person who is extraordinary at one's job and an incredibly caring person at the same time and I found a person like this in Dr. Stephanie Meyer, DVM.  These types of people make a resounding impact on your well-being (or your dog's) and you'll not soon forget them.  Dr. Stephanie Meyer, DVM is employed at the Integrative Medicine Unit of Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital.  She has cared for my dog for several years and I am so grateful for the amount time, thoroughness of the examinations and the willingness to ensure my dog is comfortable during the examination and treatment therapies.  My dog has numerous conditions due to a couple of injuries caused by a horse and also a rescue dog that has some emotional fragility due to her first human owner.  Dr. Meyer is always looking out to ensure I'm comfortable as well because my dog has been very reactive with other dogs at the office and makes sure we can safely exit the facility conflict-free.  Dr. Meyers is extremely well educated but approachable and so positive in talking with people.  You will not be disappointed with the treatment if you take your small animal to her practice.  She works with many animals such as dogs and even horses.  She is passionate about animals and treats them with respect, kindness and dignity.  Dr. Meyer uses traditional veterinary medicine combined with a naturopathic approach to healing animals and practices techniques such as acupuncture, chiropractic and other approaches. My dog thrives under the care of Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital and Stephanie Meyer.  I truly believe and think your animals will as well.  She is top-notch and I won't go anywhere else.  Dr. Jeffrey Duke, DVM is also a great Vet.  You can read her bio here: pilchuckvet.com/integrat… Read Less

Don't take your precious pets here if you can help it! We took our 5 year old mixed breed dog here a few months ago for a skin issue on his rear. We didn't have an issue waiting to see the veterinarian, but we noticed while in the lobby that all the other animals seemed extremely nervous, more so than any other vet we have been to. Their medical  technology is out of date. The younger vet tech seemed un-knowledgeable, possibly new? Our dog was in pain and didn't like us looking at or touching his sore spots- so the vet and tech wouldn't even try to have a good look at the issue until we agreed to leave our dog there for a few hours while they "put him to sleep, and clean the wounds." The estimate for this was over $450... we agreed since they made his issue sound extremely urgent. We didn't feel great leaving him there but decided to follow the vet's advice.  When we returned to pick him up a couple hours later (not very long at all) we were surprised that our dog did not seem to be feeling any effects of anesthesia at all.  He has been to other vets many times and has been under anesthesia before so we were a bit surprised that he was so aware. We noticed when he saw a particular vet tech he put his tail between his legs and cowered behind us. He has NEVER acted that way through the multiple vets he has been to in the past. He was definitely afraid of that person. We were prescribed multiple medications for him and we brought a skin medication our regular vet had previously prescribed to him but the vet tech in charge of giving us the medication did not want to see it or even know the name of it and said "Doctor thinks this one is better". We received very little instruction about the medication we were prescribed (the office was very busy so I'm sure they wanted to move on to other customers).  Our dog really wanted to leave so we paid the bill and left. The entire ride home and for the next several hours our dog moaned and cried and made distress sounds that he had never made before. He did not "return to normal" for at least a week. We called later that afternoon to describe what was happening and they offered no explanation or advice- and asked us to bring him in, for an after hours fee. I don't know what they did to traumatize him so much but I will never ever bring another pet to Pilchuck. I do not trust them at all and have been to enough vets to know the difference between a good office and a bad one.Aside from all of this, I belong to a Facebook group for Lost Dogs in Snohomish County and there are constant posts of dogs who have run away from Pilchuck. We haven't found a new vet yet, but please- if you care about your pets and don't want to spend a ton of unnecessary money, DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE! We had taken our 13-year-old Lab to the VCA in Snohomish with a sudden and severe digestive system illness. They did not have the equipment necessary for proper diagnosis and so they arranged for us to take him to Pilchuck. From the moment we arrived, they were completely on top of it - even met us at the car to transport our dog into the facility. They walked us through the diagnosis process step-by-step because of our dog's age we did not want any heroic measures, surgeries, etc - not advancing to the next step without checking in with us and updating us on what they found and then discussing next step options before taking them. Once we had determined that the issue was something that could not be treated, they walked us through the difficult decision to put him to sleep. We came in after hours and they were so kind and considerate. They gave us time alone with our beloved dog to say our goodbyes and once we were ready to let him go, they gave us as much time as we needed before leaving. Everyone was extremely kind, thoughtful and compassionate and we appreciated that at this extremely difficult time. Read Less

They care they provided our lil Monroe was exception. She loved them all and they loved her in return. She had to stay the night and I was so scared she would be traumatized, but they took exception care of her. Discharge was a breeze and they provided the medication already quartered and everything. Simply the best veterinary hospital I could imagine. They even faxed our insurance without us having to ask. Now, the one draw back is a common one and I don't blame them for it at all. I honestly can't say enough good things about this clinic. If you go to my profile and read the review i wrote for VCA in marysville you will see what we were dealing with. My cat was screaming in pain and we had no idea what was wrong and our usual vets turned us away and treated us horrible. We drove all the way to VCA who immediately gave our cat something to make it more comfortable and talked to us about the options. Sadly we did have to put my cat down :( Something had happened the doc said where something pops in his spine almost like a human version of an Arianism and it was very painful and he had maybe a 10% chance of survival :( he was in so much pain we did put him down. They were so sweet and caring. one of the nurses even got a little teary eyed. After our baby had finally went to sleep they wrapped him in a beautiful blanket for us to take home and bury. I can't thank this clinic and the staff enough. They made a horrible situation that much easier by their kind words. about a week later we even got a card with their condolences. We love Dr. Stephanie Meyer and her staff at Pilchuck (Integrated Medicine).  We take our two elderly dogs there for chiropractic and acupuncture treatments.  Not only is she a great medical practitioner, she is down to earth and truly takes the time to answer questions and provide guidance. An extra plus is that her staff does what they say they are going to do.  They return calls timely and have our Rx and food orders ready when they say they are.  With the busy lifestyles we all have I appreciate how organized they are.I know the emergency side is more complicated but people have to remember that they have choices.  They can purchase insurance for their pets to help cover costs...they can go elsewhere for treatment.  All vet clinics and hospitals can tell you that there are times when clients do not pay their bills (or even abandon their pets) and take advantage of the good nature of people who are actually in this business because they care.  Remember that this is a business and not a charity.  If you have an emergency situation come up - it's up to you to ask questions to determine what is best for you and your pet.  It's also up to you to finance your decision it and decide what is right for your situation - without any guarantee that things will turn out the way you wish. Just over eleven months ago we had to take our beloved DDR GSD Aika in for an emergency. She had just turned 12 and been ill and off food for several days and was being worked up by our regular vet who does not have after hours care. Aika had gone down when we arrived home after work and was clearly suffering a great deal. My husband and I managed to get her cleaned up and out to the car by slinging her in a sheet. We had called ahead to let them know we were coming and they came out with a gurney to the car and took Aika inside. The doctor on call did a thorough emergency work-up and provided us with treatment options that were understandable and reasonable as well as her prognosis. Her outlook was grim and I did not want to put her through any other invasive procedures or other things that would increase her discomfort and that she would not understand and very likely not survive. The vet and staff were very supportive of our decision and kept my husband and me in their quiet room while they brought Aika to us. The vet administered medication while my husband and I held her and talked quietly to her about what a good girl she was and how much we loved her. The vet quietly and compassionately told us when she was gone. It was clear that she was no longer suffering and that the euthanasia was kindly and gently administered and not at all rushed. We were permitted to stay with her body as long as we wanted. We were courteously and compassionately treated throughout the entire experience including when we left and settled the account. They managed Aika's remains with the dignity she deserved and provided us with considerate disposition options including the return of her remains with a paw print keepsake. I have decided to take my next companion animal and our current protection animal to Pilchuck for all of our veterinary care needs based on the genuinely compassionate and considerate care they provided to our Aika.Read Less

My husband and I are both appalled at the horrible customer service and lack of bed-side manner from the emergency staff last night. We were at the vet 4 HOURS waiting for them to draw a urine sample for my cat. Ridiculous.  To top it off, despite complaining (nicely) about the wait and the fact no one was giving us any update, the staff didn't bother apologizing or even acknowledging that we had to wait that long. They really didn't seem to care and were down-right rude while checking us out.    This was an awful experience and we really should have driven further to another facility, but the staff on the phone made this sound very urgent. Odd because once we got there, no one acted with any sense of urgency. They really just seemed to want to freak us out, make us wait without any explanation, watch as people who got there after us left way before us, and then take our money and push us out the door. Thank you so much for being kind, supportive, and helpful. We lost our puggle Maggie last week after another vet had prescribed $120 worth of medication to get her well after a tumor removal several months ago without really knowing what was wrong with her this time. Less than 48 hours later she passed away in our living room which is a sight I wish for no pet owner to have to see. At midnight when my husband had constructed a wooden box to bury her in I made the decision it would be better to have her cremated and then I wouldn't need to think about leaving her behind if we ever move. I called your office late that night and even though I know the receptionist was busy she listened to our story and let me cry while she kindly gave me the prices on private and non-private cremation. The next day we brought our Maggie in and again the receptionist was kind and helpful and patient. She brought out a table to put Maggie's box on and wheeled her into a side entrance. A few days later they called my husband and said Maggie was still wearing her collar so they removed her ID tag and embedded it in the clay pawprint we asked for along with her name. I picked it up this evening and its a beautiful remembrance of our little puggle. There were even a few stray hairs in the cellophane bag that it was put in which was probably an accident but made me tear up again to see a piece of her. It is on our mantle now along with a photo. I just wanted to say thank you, we just moved to the area and will certainly be bringing our other animals to your facility in the future for checkups and vaccinations. I will also not hesitate to refer you to others I know who may need your services.Read Less

I cannot even begin to describe the amazing and thorough care we have received at Pilchuck. At the time our dog Lobo was diagnosed with epilepsy (age 2) we were seeing another vet in the Snohomish area. After weeks of trying different doses of phenobarbital and searching for new options (which we were told didn't exist), we were so frustrated! One seizure filled night we showed up on Pilchuck's emergency doorstep and received such amazing, thorough and compassionate care that we never considered another vet again. A week ago we brought in our 8 week old puppy who became incredibly ill only days after we received him. We were very concerned that he might not make it. Not only did Pilchuck save his little life, but they were INCREDIBLY upfront about the potential costs and options. In the end we were so thankful because if we had gone anywhere else I'm convinced we would have had not only huge bills to pay, but I don't think the little guy would be here. I will admit that am a nurse, and perhaps this lends a perspective which helps me to understand that quality care is both better (and cheaper in the long run) than so called "cheap" vet care- particularly in emergent situations. These people know their stuff. Every veterinarian and technician we interacted with were professional, knowledgable and compassionate. The support staff are wonderful to work with and so helpful. We love Pilchuck and will be lifelong customers. We would like to thank them for their hard work and dedication to the well being of the animals in their community. Read Less

Read Less

I asked to choose the type of pain killer based on how he was doing post-op. I told them I'd take the cat home, see how he was doing and come come back later in the evening if needed.

Read Less

There are so many good things I can say about Pilchuck. We rushed in with our mini doxy who had been acting weird all day and they welcomed us in and handled everything. Just like in a human hospital, there is a wait. Every step does require some patience, but it is well worth it! Read Less

Our beloved dog passed early this morning in the early hours at home. He was a 130lb lab/Shepard mix. I called the emergency number and asked if they could take him in (as I wanted him out of the house before our two young daughters woke in the morning)...The lady that answered the phone was very polite and friendly. Upon getting there they had me fill out the paperwork and handle the formalities. Once that was complete another lady was called out from the back with a gurney. They gave myself and my son (who helped me load him) time and space with him at the back of my van until we were ready to part with him. Both ladies helped getting him out and loaded into the gurney. They were kind, thoughtful and gentle when handling his body despite his size! Nothing but great things to say about this group! Thank you Pilchuck Animal Hospital,Scott Read Less

I love this clinic Read Less

Unfortunately, our horse has been to Pilchuck twice now for surgeries. Fortunately, he had the very best care while at Pilchuck! Our horse had a life-saving colic surgery that was followed up by a set of unusual complications that the Dr's at Pilchuck managed expertly and kept him with us. He later returned for an arthroscopic procedure on his stifles and we knew that he would get the best care from the staff at Pilchuck and trusted them without question to handle him properly given his previous colic surgery. It couldn't have gone any better. I would not hesitate to take a horse to Pilchuck for any major emergency or surgical needs. They were superb with our horse and also with handling his emotional and stressed owners. Read Less

Read Less
