Ever since Dr. Schneider left it went downhill. The new vets are a bit condescending and a little rough on our dog. Have it a chance but going to go ahead and find another vet. Only reason for 2 stars are the couple techs that have been there a while and have always really sweet and actually care about our dogs. It isn't an issue of affording our pet care, they're like our children, it's the fact the new vets are pretty rude and we'd rather go where they are cared for and we feel welcome. Read Less

I went to Millwood Vet a few years back. My dog was having some major allergy problems. They did blood work and took both the environmental and the food allergy test. I kept calling for the food allergy results after the environmental came back weeks prior. Finally, the vet himself called me back to say not only did I not pay for the food test, that it doesn't even work so they wouldn't have changed me for it. He was super rude. After hanging up on him I got a call back of them apologizing, because I HAD paid for the food allergy test. Not only is my dog being treated by another vet who has cured him of his allergies, he is super respectful to me. I would never recommend this place based on that customer service experience. This clinic is top-notch! I would highly, highly recommend this clinic to anyone. Everyone from their office staff to their technicians, assistants, and physicians are all amazing! They are all full of compassion, empathy, sympathy, and they put the animals first. We take our own animals there and receive the best care. We recently ran into a situation where they were everything and above. A puppy was found abanded in a field extremely malnutrition and with a broken leg. They went above and beyond to do anything and everything for the little guy. They went right to work and fixed up Harley while money was not their first priority. We had an emergency with my service dog. He was choking. He's only 6 pounds. My husband rushed in and they took him right away. While waiting for what seemed forever we got a call saying we could come to see him and pick him up. I was so relieved. We got there and was presented with a bill. I said I have two hundred and would come back latter with the remander... Over $500. We were taken to a back room and told not only could we not see him but could not take him home until the bill was paid in full. They said they would keep him and charge us for boarding. This is my service 🐕 animal. They broke my heart. We gathered the payment and they tried to get more money. Good news Robin is ok but I will never go back to Millwood Animal Clinic. Read Less

With 4 dogs, I am at this office almost monthly it seems. Everyone has always been so kind and gentle with my pets, and informative and patient with me and all of my questions/concerns. We live on the North side of Spokane and travel over 30 minutes to visit this vet office because I refuse to go anywhere else. Hands down I would recommend Millwood to everyone. Read Less

I have three dogs and a cat and have been bringing my animals here for years and years. I have always gotten an excellent service and they really care about my animals. they take the time to answer your concerns call you back when needed and basically reassure you that they are doing everything they can. The doctors have all been wonderful and care for my pets as much as I do and take the time to listen to my concerns going over available procedures and costs before anything is implemented. We have never had any issues and have always been extremely happy with the care, service, and price point. Thank You Millwood Animal Clinic for always taking excellent care of my animal family. I enjoy calling in get excellent feedback from the front receptionist who knows what's going on at all times. Every one here is incredible. The doctors go above and beyond to connect with you and your pet. They work for your schedule and cater to your needs. Every time I've been in (3 large dogs and all things routine and serious) they have made sure to provide the best care, provide explanations, multiple options, and long term care for our pets and our wallets. They work with people with and without money. And I've sat in the lobby to see the Dr's give heart felt hugs to other people raving about the practice. Best vet in the area. Read Less

We have taken our pets to Millwood Animal clinic for around 15 years. They use to be very courteous and polite and offered good services We have spent thousands of dollars there on our pets. We use to recommend them but not anymore. Recently my daughter took a friend to them with 2 puppies that were sick . They tested them for parvo.1 tested positive the other negative. They staff was rude and uncaring. They suggested euthanasia for both puppies. My daughter and he friend were very upset. The staff even yelled at the girls. When the girls said they would not put the puppies to sleep the staff told them it would cost $800 a day per puppy to try and treat them. This was not even an option due to the cost. They charged my daughter’s friend over $200 that day. I’m very dissatisfied and disappointed with this treatment. We will no longer recommend this vet clinic to anyone nor will we ever go to them again. We have noticed a decline in service over the past year and this was the last straw.Charging that amount of money to test 2 puppies, yelling at the girls, then telling the girls they were doing the wrong thing by leaving their clinic when they couldn’t afford tthe treatment or accept euthanasia .... totally unacceptable!Who has that kind of money or treats patients that way? The girls took the puppies to a Deer Park clinic and the puppies are currently being treated there. Read Less

I have to say i love love love the doctors there but that front desk lady was so so rude she did not have one ounce of caring in her. She acted like she was the only one that had a say what was going to happen or happen. Even when doctor was welling to chat with me she said no. Until i told her to let the doctor do his job not you. **This is a long read**When Dr. Freeman was running things Millwood was great. Since Freeman is semi retired things are terrible there and none of the employees know what is going on or care. In July of this year we had to have our cat put down. When my wife called they wanted her to wait a day  since they were to "busy" when he was dying and she had to beg them to see him to be end his suffering. We had a large breed dog who started having seizures in January of this year, they were able to get him in right away and get him dosed for phenobarbital. His seizures continued to get worse and his dosage went up to combat the seizures. Millwood was nice enough to check on him but when I told them he was taking double what they prescribed him originally to control the seizures they said to stick to the original dosage even though it did not work  and they offered no other suggestions or help. Our dog ended up being put down by them in early September of this year. His seizures ended up getting so bad that the day we had him put down he was seizing every 4 minutes and had done so for over 12 hours. They wanted us to wait another day to put him down and my wife and to plead with them to bring him in, they ended up calling in Dr. Freeman to euthanize him. When we drove him to them he seized the entire way in the back of the car and we hoped he would just pass because the seizures were so bad but he didn't. We had to carry our 150lb dog on a blanket through their lobby so he could be euthanized. They were shocked that he was seizing so badly. The last experience we had with them earlier this week was with our wiener dog. She had been lethargic, vomiting and not eating very well. My wife made a same day appointment to bring her in for tests which came to about $450 which included blood work, X-rays, and a urinalysis (which wasn't done). When my wife picked her up they told her nothing and that the vet would call her the next day. So $450 and no answers. The next day my wife hadn't heard anything and she had to call 4 times to get through to someone and they said the vet would have to call her. A fill in vet called that night to talk to my wife. They explained that our dogs white blood cell count was up and that she had an infection somewhere and was in pain and she needed pain killers and to come back for a urinalysis to rule out a bladder infection. The fill in vet told my wife there were no fractures in the X-rays and it might be cancer if the urinalysis didn't show infection. The vet told us to call the next day (today) to schedule an appointment for the urinalysis. The fill in vet wasn't able to explain why we're weren't called and why more wasn't done when they had our dog, she just read the previous vets notes who didn't bother to call us or have a vet tech relay to us. I called this morning and Paula the front desk lady said they wouldn't be able to get her in until Monday for the urinalysis. I told her I would need to speak to wife since she wouldn't be happy. After I communicated to my wife about what they said she called. Paula played dumb and acted like she didn't know who I was or who I had spoken to until my wife named her as the person I had spoken to. Paula said she wasn't a doctor (obviously) and couldn't do anything and since the notes didn't say anything about pain killers she couldn't have them called in. My wife also mentioned the urinalysis and Paula said that was a drop off service and not something they needed to schedule. Long story short avoid this vet clinic since no one talks to each other, they charge for services they don't preform, and they don't seem to care about your pets well being. Read Less

Un-frikkin believable! Not much love here. From the front desk gal with a snotty attitude to their high prices. I made an appointment for my dogs injured foot and paid $50.00 CASH up front. Also, concerned family members called in and had various amounts credited to help out. After the appointment I had a $39 credit, which they would only refund by check in the mail. This is the strangest return policy ever. I totally agree any credit phoned in would go back to the payees credit card, but CASH should be returned as such, not by check mailed out a week later. Today, 2 months later, I called to get my dogs nails trimmed for $22.00. I was told that the credit balance of $69.00 which was posted after, could not be used for this. We had not yet established a vet for our little superstar, and he developed some sort of eye issue, so we knew the time had come. I am always worried about who is handling my dog because he is small (and I am overprotective), so I came here based on Yelp reviews and a personal recommendation. The vet tech was welcoming and seemed to truly care about animals. The vet herself was friendly and kind, as well as thorough. She made sure the cornea wasn't scratched before determining it was just a basic infection. Best of all, we were in and out of there with hardly any wait time. We were in and out, with an examination and the prescribed ointment, within a half hour. Despite the quick turn around, I never felt like we were rushed or that anyone cut corners. Read Less

HORRIBLE! My dad took our neighborhood cat there because of an emergency situation with his eye and was turned away! He was also sent to a clinic that didn't exist and got lost because he's not from Spokane. We haven't seen the poor cat since and can only hope that he got the care he needed. Read Less

Rude and uncaring. I had a pet emergency and needed to get my cat in to be seen asap. I'm new here to Washington and am looking for a long term vet also. They did not care that my cat was having an emergency and told me their "next appointment time available" was not till later in the week. Well thanks for being uncaring and rude. We took our last dog here when he had cancer. They knew his name by the time the end came and he was comfortable there. I think it says a lot when a dog wags their tail when they go in the door of an office. And he always did. We'll be taking our pup here as well. Love Dr Schneider Read Less

Came here because the vet close to our house is REALLY expensive. They managed to squeeze us in when our dog had an ear problem. The doctor did a really good job not stressing our pooch out, getting down on the floor with her rather than freaking her out more by putting her on a scary metal table. Exam was done quickly but well, and even after getting our pooch caught up on shots, the whole bill was really reasonable. Probably half what previous vet charges. I think we may have just found a new vet. As far as the other person who reviewed this place, I am not sure what they are basing their experience on, because it sure was not this place. Read Less

After 15 years in the Spokane area, I have finally found an awesome vet and staff!   I took my Newfoundland in today for her booster,, and was very impressed.   Chris Schneider was the vet we saw--what a dog lover!   Very friendly and is open to holistic methods, which is a breath of fresh air.  The staff were very friendly, as well!   I highly recommend this place!!  - - Don't understand the previous review at all.  As I said, very friendly, and it was $20 and change for the booster shot and free exam that comes with your 1st visit.
