Not happy with the care here. Dr Streeter has poor bedside manner. They encourage test after test. Seems money driven. The front staff however are very polite and helpful. They try to remember you and your pet. If only the vets there would take the time to read over your pets chart maybe would get more personal care. I live across the street from another "popular" vet in town. I travel 30 minutes (IN SPOKANE! 30 MINUTES!) to see Drs. Streeter an Wheeler. They've been taking care of my animals for 15 years and I wouldn't take them anywhere else BUT FOR the recommendation of either doctor. That is a sign of a true professional - sending you to another doctor who can treat your case better, rather than maybe doing an alright job. Dr. Streeter is hands-down the best surgeon in the area. He has fixed a number of joints and other ailments over the years and I wouldn't let another doctor take my animals under the knife. The front desk staff? They know you. They know your pets. Worst "bedside" manner of any vet I've ever experienced. There is a lady doctor who is nice, but the two male vets are not friendly at all and seemed actually unfriendly toward me and my pet. The front desk staff were very unsupportive. Don't they know that our animals are like our children? I would never take my child to a place like that. Worst veterinarian experience I've ever had. I highly recommend linda wheeler. She takes the time to actually personally call you back and ask you questions. She knows how much we adore our dog and cares about the animals she sees. She doesn't take the most expensive route first and discusses all options with you. Will definitely bring my next dog back to her. Read Less

I will NEVER go back! I had a decent experience with Five Mile Vet until I my dog actually had a problem! My dog one day stopped eating her food. I brought her into Five Mile Vet and we left with no answers; however they did prescribe probiotics. They suggested I bring in a poop sample, which I did they next day. They told me it would be 25.00$ to have that sample tested and told me I could pay it next time I was in. A week later I received a call from Five Mile Vet saying I owed them 100.00$. I asked how my bill went from 25.00$ to 100.00$ without me being told. I told her this was the first time I had heard of that charge and that the vet did not let me know nor confirm that with me. She replied, "I don't believe you." I asked to talk to the owner who is also a vet there. I told him I would pay the 100.00$ but I would like to know how the charge changed from 25.00$ to 100.00$. He said it needed to be sent out to a different lab to be tested. I asked him why I hadn't been informed and he accused me of lying to him. We finished the conversation and hung up. A few days later, I called to pay the 100.00$ and the lady says, "it looks like its only 25.00$." I asked her to check again then to double check with the owner. She said the doctor lowered the price to 25.00$. So I paid that over the phone. A few days later, I receive a bill in the mail. On the bill was written: "your information was indeed accurate. I was ill-informed," with the owners signature. However, I did not receive a call from him at all. I will never go back to Five Mile Vet because of this HORRIBLE situation. I don't know if I can find the words to express how wonderful everyone is at this clinic. The receptionist, the assistants and Dr. S are an absolutely outstanding team. They saved my 5 week old puppies life after a botched procedure from another vet here in Spokane. Dr. S is a top notch surgeon. We were so impressed with his skill and the pride he takes in his work. I would have loved to have gotten to know Dr. Wheeler, for I was recommended to him from a very outstanding vet at Spokanimal, but a women answering Five Mile Vet Clinics phones did not allow me to. I scheduled half a week in advance to have my two dogs get a blood test needed for my move to Hawaii through the Army, which was time sensitive as such I explained. I was told there was an 0800 time slot and a 1030 time slot for the following week and I asked for the 1030 slot, confirming my appointment again at he end of the call. During the call I can say she wasn't very pleasant and seemed uninterested helping me. I received a call this morning at 0820 stating I missed my appointment time. Confused, I immediately called the clinic and explained I have an appointment for 1030. The woman last week first suggested an 0800 time but I declined and scheduled for 1030. At the time I did not know I was speaking to the same woman who schedule me prior and asked if I could speak to the women who scheduled me, Bre. She disregarded my question and said we could reschedule. I explained that it was time sensitive and I was confused on what happened. She then yelled and said "our vets don't want to do it anyway" and hung up on me. I was more than willing to reschedule but wanted to know what occurred because I explained my situation to her a week prior and there's protocol that has to be done via the Hawaiian government. I then called back and spoke to Lisa who said she would call me back. I waited an hour and called back asking for Lisa but Bre answered the phone and said she would call back. I have yet to have my call returned. I was really excited to have this clinic do my dogs blood work, even more so because it was recommended by another vet but unfortunately was not able to experience the vets service because customer service skills were lacking during a phone call.Read Less

Rating realistically ought to be 100 stars. Without question the best, most experienced and knowledgeable animal care, bar none. I will not take my 14 year old Husky to see ANY other doctor than Dr. Wheeler and Dr. Streeter. I literally can go on forever about how perfect this place is. Read Less

I have been going to five mile pet for a few years now. I have always had great help there! The staff are always willing to answer my questions and give advice. When my animals are sick I know they will be in great hands! When my dog passed it was a horrible experience and I am glad the people at five mile pet were there to help. I brought my beagle Molly in when I found her unresponsive at 4PM Dec 7th 2007. The vet Dr Streeter drained a tumor in her chest, afterwards she walked out happily wagging her tail. When I asked for more information the vet told me she was very sick and probably would not last the night. Since it was 15 minutes until closing I was pretty devastated and not sure what else to do. So instead of having ANY decency he told me to "hurry up & make a choice as they were closing in 15 minutes". I unfortunately chose to put my sweet little dog to sleep from the prognosis he made. Since then I have been subjected to rude treatment ( My mother as well ) from Glenda the receptionist and Dr Streeter himself. This clinic has NO interest in helping you if you have a balance or you come in before closing ( My family has frequented this vet for over 20 years ) . The abrupt rude behavior smacks of indecency. I would suggest anyone needing to take your dogs in to go elsewhere as Dr Streeter has ZERO bedside manner & Glenda & other staff are completely rude. Read Less

When I took my dog to Five Mile Pet Clinic, I spent the entire time feeling like Dr. Vern was trying to hide costs from me. I did not trust him. He was never upfront with my wife and me. My impression of him is that he is a weasel. His top priority is his business and profit. If there is a way that Five Mile Pet Clinic can find to force your hand and make you pay for something, they will do it. When I called and asked to have my dog's files transferred to another clinic, the receptionist hugn up on me. Although this clinic is competent, and although it is the closest clinic to my house, they will never see my dog again. I was not only unimpressed by their lack of medical ethics, I am frustrated by their lack of business ethics. Read Less

The Vets & Staff at 5 Mile go above and beyond. During the last 15 years they have taken care of 8 dogs for us. The vets at five mile got us through those doggy senior years with love and compassion. When it came time to say good bye to those dogs people at 5 mile were like family. The 4 dogs we have now have been with them since they were puppies. They even enjoy going to 5 mile. Lots of love from the front desk. Over the years they have taken care of: Inverted Tails, Sliced Paw, Broken Growth Plate in the Knee, Rat Poison, Cataracts, Enlarged Heart, Undescended Testicle, Pancreatitis, Spay, Neuter,Pumped Stomach, Iinfected Ear, Allergies, Broken Teeth, Removal of Lumps and Bumps... even when our dog Super Glued his Front Paws Together(a first for 5 mile) it required Surgery!
