It's all about the money, long waits, and no parking...
I've brought all my pets here since 2006 (cats, dog, even my hamster) Not sure why I keep going back to be honest, but my last visit will be the last.
I started to lose faith in this clinic when I brought my hamster in to see the small pet vet, he had what looked like a lesion on his side. The vet didn't know what it was and was about to biopsy it, but then at the last second decided to research it a bit first, turned out to be a normal scent gland that appears when male hamsters reach sexual maturity... He still prescribed steroids for the hamster for whatever reason, and the visit cost me $100 (not saying it should have been free, but $100 to tell me it was normal and prescribe unnecessary drugs is a bit much)
My next visit, my cat started losing weight and throwing up a lot. So I brought her in (they always push you to the walk-in clinic, even when you ask for a specific appointment) so I went in, and waited 2 hours to see the vet. Can't remember the vet's name, but she seemed nice enough. I knew my cat would need blood work to find out what was wrong with her, but they just told me to feed her wet food and gave me some stool softeners to take home with me. That was $87, then a week later they called and left me a message saying "we would like you to bring your cat back in for blood work" I wanted to call back and yell "I was just there, why do I have to pay for another office visit for something I wanted you to do the first time!"
I was a bit upset, and decided I wasn't going to go back to this vet. So I called around to other vets, I'd basically have to start over, which was going to cost me more. So I called Hunter Vet back, and asked if they could do the blood work w/o charging me for another office visit (and I'd just pay the cost of the blood work). My cat started losing patches of fur since the last time, so they told me "well, since she is now losing her fur, it's a new thing and we'll have to charge you another office visit, plus the cost of the lab work"
GRRRR, so it really is just about the money here, and it's ALWAYS busy during walk-in times, so you may not have a place to sit, and I've always had to park at a meter on the street because their lot is always full... Read Less
