The staff is great! I really like the gals that I've dealt with there, very supportive, helpful and friendly. I had two dogs and now, unfortunately, only one. The vet referred me to WSU for an MRI when one of my dogs (Gidget) lost the use of her limbs basically, over night from a Spinal Cord Stroke (which wasn't diagnosed until after a two night stay many tests at WSU). I have a minor point with this vet and that is because she did not call me after receiving information from WSU to ask about her or to give me her professional opinion. (Also, to be fair, I could have called the vet myself and asked for her opinion.) I had a very difficult decision to make and would have liked some feed back from our vet about what she thought I should do prior to that point. However, I can also say that we were new clients so they didn't really know us as well as someone who may have been bringing their pet for years. I had to have Gidget put down and they were very respectful and gave me all the time I needed in the room with my dog afterwards. Second, I recently brought Shea in for teeth cleaning. They did blood work since Shea is a senior doggie. That blood test showed elevations in her liver and pancreas. They called me and opted to wait on the teeth, put her on antibiotics and a prescription dog food for a month, then reassess. They were very sweet with Shea and kept her all day for me as I only get into town once a week for errands and appointments. They will let me drop her off early and keep her for me the next time I come in as well. It's nice to have that flexibility when you live 85 miles from the vet. They just loved Shea and were very complimentary on her sweet personality. I will definitely keep bringing Shea to West Plains Animal Hospital for care until she leaves us to go join Gidget Heaven. Thank you for taking such great care of my babies! Our old man Sterling (Russian Blue) had a tumor removed and Asuka (Shiba) was spayed last week. They took such great care of them and have answered all my questions (I have called a few times lol) and made me feel very comfortable. The care kits we were sent home with were great. I took our new puppy to Dr. Belles for his initial evaluation. She is very knowledgeable, kind and provided us with information on injections, rabies, care of his ears, eyes and baths. They've been really good with all of our pets. They're willing to answer all our questions and even work with us on ordering Rx's from online sources. My Dog Bella was bit by a coyote and when I realized it was a "Bad Bite" they got me immediately in and gave her the BEST care. We bring our 2 cats here and they have always received excellent care. The staff is very accessible and are quick to return calls. Also, unlike some other vet clinics in town, the cost of care is fair and affordable. The vet is also very straight forward and knowledgeable which I really appreciate. Very caring and professional. Saved my service dog who is my companion and furry kid. My 12 lb chihuahua Dallas had an intestinal blockage and was very sick. I was able to get him in right away. I am a retired Veterinary Tech and this clinic is amazing! The clinic is clean, they are well educated, compassionate team of docs and staff. I am sure that two of my dogs would have died anywhere else. My English bully ate a cat toy, needed surgery to remove it, had dead intestine they cut out and reconnected, he was home in 3 days! And I know they are kind and gentle because that same bully just loves to go see his "girls"! He just trots right in the door and heads for the back! West Plains rocks! I have 2 dogs and love the care that they get at West Plains. We never have to wait. If the appointment is 10 am we are being taken care of at 10 am. It is a lot less stress on the dogs. You can tell that the staff cares about all their patients. Won't take my pets anywhere else. Read Less

Dr. Kris Belles is as good as it gets. Her compassion for fury animals is second to none. We've taken our dog in there a couple of times and unlike other vets, our Wrigley isn't as anxious walking in there as he's been in other offices. In March 2012 we faced euthanizing our 20-year-old cat. The treatment we received at West Plains Animal Hospital was nothing short of neglect. From the time they picked up the phone to the time we walked out of the clinic, they showed little concern for our pet. We were first told we had to wait 6 hours to bring in our cat who was in respiratory distress. Because of our cat?s worsening condition, we arrived early. We were told to pay the euthanasia fee up front, then they stuck us in a room and ignored us for 15 minutes. In that time, our cat struggled to breathe. She was frightened and suffering. Before anyone came into to check on us, she passed. At no time did anyone in this clinic examine or touch our cat. When I voiced my feelings about our treatment, the clinic owner, Kris Belles reaction was hostile, to say the least. Several days later when I called for a refund, Belles called me a liar. She said our cat was already deceased when we walked into the clinic. She says she has 2 witness to verify that. If this is true, why were we asked to pay to euthanize a cat who was already gone? Second, Belles said the vet who claims to have examined our cat indicated our cat had been deceased for a least two hours. Like I?ve already said, no one in the clinic examined our cat. This vet falsified our cat?s records to making it look like our cat had been deceased for 2 hours. To date, we have not received a refund and are taking steps to moved this into the court systems.
