Please get a second opinion when your pet gets a cancer diagnosis from this clinic!!!!!!! While I have the upmost respect for the veterinary practice; those men and women who choose to dedicate their life to improving the lives of animals.. I was disappointed with my experience with this Veteranarian organization. I had a 4:00 appointment to have my dog examined for a bump on her leg. I arrived 10 minutes early and was checked in promptly at that time. 30 minutes later, my dog was then weighed, then both my dog and I sat in a small exam room for another 15 -20 minutes still waiting to be seen. When the doctor arrived, 5 minutes of the “exam” was him reading verbatim what I had told the receptionist when I made the appointment days before. The “physical” portion of the exam took less than two minutes.. to include taking a small sample of the site tissue to examine. The doctor then left. The time was 4:41. At 4:49 the doctor returned with not so great news, a supposed photo of the cancer that was blown up to the point that I had no idea what we were looking at, and a complete itemized bill of the surgical procedure that would remedy the situation. When I asked directly “are you saying this is cancer?” the response was “well, it looks like it could be cancer” When I asked for the actual slide that was tested, I had to wait another 10 minutes in the exam room for this slide to reappear from the operating room. The whole experience seemed...odd. The next day I take, my dog to another vet.. this time in another county for a second opinion. After 20 minutes, the head Veteranarian told me in no uncertain terms, that this was NOT cancer; explaining in great medical detail all the questions that I didn’t even ask. Super professional. She also took a sample and sent it TO AN ACTUAL LAB just to be sure. Results came back a few days later and confirmed her diagnosis of no cancer. She warned me that many vets will call out cancer and then removal.. (In all fairness I must point out that the Affordable pet clinic did not say it was cancer.. just that “it looks like it might be”) The unknowing emotionally compromised owners will fall on the side of caution and go with the first recommendations they are fed. While that option won’t do harm... it was ABSOLUTELY not necessary in this instance. (In the opinion of the second Veteranarian) I do not hold any Ill will towards the Affordable pet clinic, and would NOT discourage anyone patronage either. I would not even discount the positive reviews of this organization. This is only MY experience. I would, however, HIGHLY RECOMMEND insisting on seeing as much of the sample taking as possible, physical proof of diagnosis, and obtaining a second opinion from another clinic. Pet owners are usually at a disadvantage on both an emotional and medical knowledge level.. they tend to jump on the first option given. I almost lost my best friend. My lab had "complications" during her first spay surgery and had another surgery. After the second surgery they told me I should take her to Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital 35 minutes away to be "monitored". They placed my sedated dog in the back of my car with an IV bag hanging on my passenger seat. We got to the hospital and they told us she had an irregular heart beat and low cvc levels. She needed not only one,  but two blood transfusions. She spent multiple hours at Pilchuck recovering. It breaks my heart to think that I could've lost her during a routine surgery. Read Less

I am so happy with our service at Affordable Pet Care. I took my dog in there for a dental cleaning for a base price of $150. After six extractions, some antibiotics and pain meds to take home it came to $246. This was about 1/3 of the price I was quoted from other vets with just one extraction. They were friendly and so gently with my little man.  He was a little woozy when he got home but wasn't upset in the slightest.  I would absolutely make the drive from Everett again. Read Less

I am so thankful for finding this place. My dog Daisy was in dire need of a dental cleaning and we found this place. It is very inexpensive compared to a dozen other places I called. Very easy to schedule an appointment and straight to the point. They took great care of Daisy even though she was very scared. Highly recommend this place, I will definitely be taking her back! Our German Shepherd had been going through health issues for about a year. No vet nor treatment was helping her. We tried everything we could and went to three different vets for help. Finally we found not only a vet but an entire staff who are friendly, compassionate and knowledgeable. One look at our Nala and Dr. Cook knew exactly what was wrong with her. She has environmental allergies. He put her on a medication and a month later she is fully back to our normal dog. We can't thank Dr. Cook and his staff enough for all of they're help. The staff at Affordable Petcare clearly care about the pets they treat and the clients who bring their pets. In dealing with the many end of life health and happiness issues which are a part of my pet's life, the response of staff has been thoughtful, respectful, and informed. Pricing for services has been reasonable as their business name suggests. I could not bring myself to understand the complaint above that gave one star for a 9 minute phone rate. The staff take the time needed to deal with their current patients and the prices are reasonable. A 9 minute hold time seems a small compromise. The one thing that does keep me from giving 5 stars though is a lack of a weekend answering machine. This would be considerably less expensive than an additional staff member and might go a long way to dealing with communication bottle necks. So i did my research on vet's and what i found was that Stanwood Affordable Vet had a lot of reviews mostly positive and a few negative. We have taken our three cats here on different occasions because of how great the staff is, how friendly Dr. Cook is, and the pricing! They are busy, busy, busy constantly, and you have to take that into consideration when trying to book an appointment... but they wouldn't be so busy if they weren't worth it! Great job team! So sad, after 12 years of wonderful service from Pat and his staff, we are done! This is NOT the same place! Staff is unprofessional and rude! Their inability to schedule their time properly has left them over booked and more concerned about how many surgeries and appointments they can pack in instead of the quality care they're giving to our pets. My past experiences with Dr. Pat, the staff and even other pet owners was amazing. For that 5 stars..... HOWEVER, I have only seen the new vet once. And probably won't go to him again ever (long story). Dr. Pat has sold the business to him and only works there 2 days a week now. I only go on those two days. They are expanding, and this little inexpensive, loving, caring bunch of folks will now be shoved up into the "rest" of the vet world with most likely higher cost (decorating, expansion, etc) and change is in their future, and in my opinion, it ain't good folks. My dog almost lost her eye! Not her eyesight -- her eye! This clinic has great staff and a caring vet but you get what you pay for. My dog went in with eye problems and was diagnosed with an eye infection and given a medication that contained steroids. One week after meticulously using the medication prescribed she was so much worse I took her to another vet. She had a cornea infection, not a simple eye infection. The steroids had made it worse. When I spoke with this clinic they said "Well, we probably don't have that dye." I would have wanted to know that it could have been worse and that the choice to go to another clinic might have been a good idea. I wouldn't have needed an eye specialist at that time but I sure did a week later. Hundreds of dollars later and permanent damage to her eye have convinced me that I did not get the best care I should have.Read Less
