I brought my otherwise healthy Labrador here at 2:30 in the morning on 12/28/16. He had been, what seemed like, trying to vomit for 24 hours, completely unproductively. Finally, early that morning I called Blue Pearl and described his symptoms and asked what they thought. They assured me that I needed to bring him in, which was fine.Once I got there, they took him from away me for an exam, which has never been done before at any other vet. The vet, Dr. Newton, brought him back to me and THEN asked for more info. She recommended 2-3 sets of x-rays, and blood work. I kept reiterating that I thought he had something stuck in his throat, because he keeps trying to cough/vomit it up. He was not presenting ill, at all. I finally agreed to a set of X-rays. Nothing. She didn't know what it could be. Maybe we should do blood work. I would not, so she sold me a anti-nausea pill and I took him home with a recommendation to bring him back in 24 hours if not better (at 2:30 in the morning, again??). So, $350 later I took him home. The next day he was not better so I called my vet but couldn't get an appointment for 36 hours. I took him to Value Pet Clinic in Tacoma. They got me right in and of course, he would not wretch in front of them, either. After checking him out, agreeing he was happy, no tender belly, no fever, etc (just like the night before), the vet sat for a second scratching Wally and then asked a simple question... has he been around other dogs, kenneled, etc. recently?? I said he had been kenneled the week before. She said- Ahhhh... kennel cough! I ignorantly disagreed saying it sounds like vomiting not coughing. She listened politely and said that is often how kennel cough sounds. For a grand total of only $70, we left with a simple diagnosis, cough tablets and other tablets for his GI, I think?I went home and googled it and it sounded EXACTLY like kennel cough. BluePearl SHOULD have asked that simple question- apparently it is very common, even in vaccinated dogs. I am FURIOUS to have been charged that much due to either their incompetency or their choosing not to ask. They will not get my business again. Read Less
