We first came to Jones 30 years ago with our well loved Reeves turtle, Sid. We still have her and a major reason why is because of the expert care she has received periodically through the years at Jones hospital. Raising and maintaining the health of an exotic turtle is difficult and we couldn't have done it without the support we get from Jones. Thank you! Read Less

DO NOT TAKE EXOTIC ANIMALS HERE! Two years back I brought my sick ferret in who refused to eat and had a swollen abdomen only to be told to “feed him whatever he will eat” and I had to pay $500 for that. After not getting any actual help I took him to a vet in Kirkland who told me he was very sick and gave me medicine to give to him. Recently had a friend take her two chinchilla’s here to get neutered and one of them died and the other one has to get surgery because his intenstines are falling out of the surgical site! This place may be good for dogs and cats but if you are an exotic pet owner take your animal somewhere else because this is not the place for them. Read Less

I've been taking my pets to Jones Animal Hospital for the better part of 10 years. I started taking my ferrets there, as Jones was the only doctor in the Tacoma area who seemed comfortable with ferrets. Eventually I switched my dogs to Jones and recently my new kitten. The staff and Jones Animal hospital a courteous and professional. They clearly care for their animal patients. I've never felt like they've tried to push unwarranted tests or procedures on me. After several years now, I refer all my friends and family to Jones Animal Hospital. I will be taking my pets here for the rest of their lives. Read Less

I really like Jones Animal Hosp. I have been taking my dogs there for 10 years now. Both of the male vets are very thorough and caring. However, what I like best about this place is that they have a female vet. Her name is Dr. Zachary and I am very happy with her treatment of my dogs. She let's you know exactly what she is thinking, what she is doing, and how we are going to treat the dogs. She, also, is very thorough and kind. You can tell that all three of the vets like animal very much. In fact, Dr. Jones usually has his dachshunds at the office with him. All of the office personnel and vet techs are so nice and pleasant. The office has been there a long time so don't expect everything to be shiny and new, but it is clean and does not smell bad. The one and only thing I am unhappy about, and I just found it out this year, is that they do not have flu shots for dogs. The flu is raging up and down the West Coast right now and lots of vets are advising people to get shots for their dogs. So now I have to find a vet who will do that. Other than that, I am quite happy with Jones Animal Hospital. Read Less

Dr. Jones was very rude to me and talked to me like I was an idiot. He kept interupting me and didn't take what I said seriously. My pet is rapidly losing weight due to dietary problems, she is critically underweight and will only stop losing it if I give her supplements every 5 hours. I've had very bad experiences here. On one visit, I brought in a very sick lizard. I was distraught over how quickly he was losing weight. The doctor showed me how to force feed my lizard, telling me he used a special tool that I could purchase at the front desk. In my anxiety, I didn't realize he was using a regular rubber spatula, and made a fool of myself at the front desk. He should have communicated more clearly instead of trying to be funny. On another visit, he made a comment that "girls [my] age are supposed to have babies"... wtf? Also, they sent me home with a protein mix to feed my lizard. When his health hadn't improved in a week, I called back, and they said to continue feeding him the mix. He died just about a week later, and I noticed that the package said you're supposed to replace the bag every 7 days. I don't know if that made my lizard worse, but either way, they should have mentioned that (and clearly had misdiagnosed whatever was wrong with my lizard). In the last few days of his life, my lizard got much better care at the Blue Pearl vet in South Tacoma--where they communicated clearly and treated me with respect in my time of stress. Unfortunately, by then, it was too late to save his life. Read Less

I've been with these guys since I owned my first cat: xander. If you want your information sugar coated or you want your vet to take their cues from you instead of giving you options, go someplace else. These guys are the real deal. A small practice, true, but they remember the name of the cat I have now, and don't call my cat by the one I had 10 years ago. (petmed) The last time I was there was to euthanize Squeek. She had a huge tumor in her mouth. I couldn't believe I hadn't seen it! It was much too large to operate. Even I could tell that. Their first response after telling me the horrid news was, "What would you like us to do, Susan?" I got to make the decision, and that was right. I decided to let her go. She was 18 years old. I wish I had had a camera for that last look. Squeek was Sphinx with her paws folded. So at home. That's what Jones does. The pets feel at home. From a personal experience, this clinic almost killed my dog. They misdiagnose my little girl. They didn't perform the proper tests (collecting a urine sample), then they tested for things that were not needed. They had all my contact information but didn't call me so they could start any type of treatment for my dog. When I called to get a progress report at 11am, I was told she was doing ok and that they were running tests that would take 30 mins. I asked them to call me back. NO CALL WAS GIVEN. At 2pm when I was finally able do to work restraints, I was told my dog was in a bad way and that I should take her to an emergency hospital. So basically all they did was watch as my dog went down hill from the time my husband brought her in at 9am until 5pm. When I talked to the office manager, he only stated that he hadn't looked at my dog's case, but they had had several emergencies that day. Well, apparently treating my dog for her emergency wasn't high on their list. They wouldn't let me have my dog until I paid them almost $500 to run 2 tests (one that was unneeded) and watch as my dog sat in horrible pain. This hospital told me my dog was in Renal failure or kidney failure. I took my dog to the emergency vet hospital where they were disappointed they couldn't do a urine sample wasn't done. They also disagreed with the kidney failure diagnosis by simply reading the result from the other test that JONES animal hospital did do. It was determined my dog had pancreatitis, was in excruciating pain and should be put on pain killers and given fluids. One week and a half later, my dog is on the mend with no help from Jones Animal hospital except for the very lucky request that I move my dog to someone who cared about her care. Please be careful if you choose to go to Jones Animal Hospital. I would suggest you don't. My dog's life could have ended if I had believed what they told me. At least get a second opinion, this company/doctor care is NOT on it's "A game". I would tell you not to waste your money, but what is more important is to not waste your pet's life. This people have the potential to do both. Read Less

Read Less

Top-notch care at rock-bottom prices. I took my cat in to have a diseased eye removed. Their care was top-notch from beginning to end. Their price was 1/3 of other area vet hospitals.
