I have been going here for a long time. The staff have always been great and the vets, until today, have been great as well. I brought my dog in to get some medication for anxiety prior to 4th of July. I know that there is always a wait. No problem. When the vet came in to see my dog, she seemed like she was in a hurry. I know, there are like a million dogs and cats to see. I get it, no problem. What I didn't expect (and was really let-down by) was the rehearsed pitch on products and the way that the vet tried to sway me by saying "I'm seeing a lot more of. . . so you should really consider. . ." Before I could get a question in, the vet was gone. A tech arrived a few minutes later with two possible options and new plans that are being offered. One of their proposed options was $300, the other was almost $230. Just a year before, I walked out of there paying $95 for the exact same thing. I explained to the tech that I had come in about six months earlier and none of these things were being pushed at all. He had only worked there for a couple of weeks and didn't have any answers. They were always the affordable place to go, but it now seems like they are trying to make more money by implementing aggressive sales tactics. Would anyone really pay almost $90 a month for a pet plan that did not guarantee a date/time for their appointment or that they would see the same vet?! I'll be going to a new vet the next time we need to go to someone. I'd rather pay more $ to avoid the sales pitch and the feeling that I'm about to be scammed. Read Less

All services aside from the office visit are given as a written estimate so you can make an informed decision about what treatment options you’d like to choose for your pet. The veterinarians who see the animals are so very nice and are totally into making sure everything about your dog or cat is taken care of in that visit. Medicine included. If money should be an issue at the time of the appointment, they take it into consideration and come up with a doable cost efficient plan to help you with your dog or cat. My dog is always treated as a family member and is never treated as just an animal. I recommend them to everyone. Read Less

The clinic is located near a rich neighborhood. Those people have money to throw around but I even heard a man outside the frint of the clinic talking to someone on his cell phone. He was freaking out about the money costs and yelling and saying he doesnt have any more money to give to the clinic. Dont let them take you for 100's or 1,000's of dollars because they will. Do not risk your precious animal's health by taking them here. Diagnosis and health feedback vary immensely depending on which vet you are assigned. They allow interns/students to perform general procedures... I brought my dog in for a question about mild penile discharge. They told me they were going to trim the hair around his penis and flush out his foreskin. When they returned him to me the had SHAVED half of his belly and his entire butt area. They knicked his skin, leaving cuts in multiple areas and left awful razor burn and a cut in his poor little butthole! He is now in worse condition than before I brought him in and is terrified to let anyone near his butt. A separate exoerience: one vet said he was in perfect health, with impressively clean teeth... while another seen only 2 weeks post the first visit, said he needed a cleaning and needed a lifelong allergy prescription. So I had a wonderful experience with these guys after my poor boy got lymphoma and needed to be put down. It was urgent, he went from fine one night to needing to enter to the other side sooner rather than later by the next morning. I called my boyfriend, we made our fair share of phone calls, and this place was a great price and offered cremation as well. The staff was very friendly, and easily helped us as we cried for our poor baby that would no longer be with us soon. It broke us, and we are mending still, but having their wonderful staff helped to bridge a terrible experience. I took my cat, Romeo, in today because he's been incessantly licking himself to the point of being raw...the stress of having to take our fur baby in close to Christmas with finances running tight had me super nervous. The staff was incredibly friendly, the nurse was super sweet and gentle, and the doctor was both kind and knowledgeable. He got straight to the issue and knew what was going on. today I had to take my dog in to get her teeth extracted. The gal at the desk Dominique was like going to boot camp!!! I never had some one being so strong on her personality talking to me the way she Did. First I said to her,,,, That 500.00 was from the humane society, and that when I pick up my dog my daughter will be here and put the rest on her card well>>>>> she said in a rude way spoken NO EVERY THING IS DUE before the work so I said NICELY ok when I will call my daughter ,,, so I called my daughter and said hey they said you have to put in on your card and so here I will let you talk to her,,,,,,,,, So I proceeded to hand the girl the phone and SHE acted like I was handing her poison and AGAIN IN A STERN way said NO we don't take any thing over the phone I said in a upset way OK...... Then I started to tell her about what I WANTED a request done,,,,, and she rudely said we will decide what she needs.. I THOUGHT TO MY SELF AND SAID TO HER don't I have a say for my dog.. any way I am 62 years old and wanted to ask her what problems she has in life that she seems so rude and to no even CRACK a smile!!! she needs to join the ARMY to talk like that . DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE!!! This place is a nightmare. I brought my German Shepard in because he hadn't been eating and seemed to be in pain. I was told I would be charged $30 for an exam which was fine. The "vet", and I use this term loosely for this person, said that his muscles seemed tight and that he was probably bruised from playing around with my other dog. The vet said she would give him a pain injection and took him to the back. She came back after a few minutes and told me to wait in the lobby so they could get the paperwork together for the final invoice. As I was waiting, i noticed blood dripping from Yukon (my dog). I rushed to tell the receptionist who told me it was just from the shot and she gave me a paper towel to clean it up. When I sat down I saw that blood was continuing to drip so I demanded that they take another look at him. Low and behold the vet found an abscess that she somehow missed during the exam. How the hell do you thoroughly examine an animal and miss a huge abscess on their chest???!!!! I would never trust these people with my dogs and I now drive all the way to Renton to see a decent vet. This place will kill your animals and shrug their shoulders. Read Less

Only giving 1 star, and that star is only because they do offer low cost care and medications. But they will not be getting more stars because of their customer service. You get what you pay for I suppose. Most of the people that work here look stressed out, overworked and annoyed.Or maybe just annoyed by me and my two dogs.I understand that my dogs are barkers and somewhat difficult to handle sometimes. I told the assistant, Clarissa or Klarissa, that my senior dog (13 years old who gets startled easily, just likes soft tones and is the sweetest dog) doesn't like his temperature taken by his bottom and she didn't listen and I kept insisting we will need a muzzle, she kept trying and he lunged at her, I am unsure if he snapped or not.I got a copy of his medical record from this visit and she wrote there that he lunged at her and I wouldn't hold him. Um yeah, If I knew that was going to happen, gave a warning and told you we would need a muzzle, why would I? I don't use profanity but in my head i'm thinking "B****, didn't I tell you that?" So now I look like a bad owner and they made me feel as if my dog is a bad dog.Second, we just moved from California to Washington and they have always been on Nexguard and Heartguard. Understandibly, my dogs have to have a heartworm test before they can give us the Heartguard. So they had them tested, turns out they don't even carry Heartguard, so what was the point? Had I known that, I would've taken them elsewhere for their meds, or had them not take Nexguard so they can take this other medication that is a combo of flea and heartworm meds. So they had to write me a prescription and I had to either call places who carried Heartguard or order it online. It was a waste of my time and money.I'd rather pay 5x more. My dogs deserve better. But i'm not confrontational so I didn't confront or have an attitude about any of this.Anyway, I will definitely just be taking my dogs elsewhere with people who are more compassionate, understanding, can handle senior dogs and can listen to the pets' owners better. Because who else would know their dogs better other than their owners? My dogs have never had this problem with other veterinarians, groomers, sitters, daycare or handlers. And if Value Pet is reading this, please go ahead and send me a letter saying we no longer have rights to future services, just like you did another reviewer. I sure would get a laugh from it. Read Less

This is how they treat a long term customer who has spent thousands upon thousands of dollars there? Read on.....I was sitting there for an hour watching other customers come and go while my dog was getting bloodwork and xrays.  We got there at 1:40pm .  how long does it take to do blood work and xrays?  So finally, after an hour, I get up and ask "how much longer?"From that point on, treated like shit by the receptionists. I tell them I have to leave and that I do not need to wait for the "expert" opinion of the xrays if that is why it is taking so long.  They just say I need to keep waiting because there was an emergency surgery.  I said I understand that but there are two vets there and I have been waiting a long time and thought we would be done before all of these other people.Just told need to keep waiting.  I keep asking is my dog done??  Is he ready to go?  Finally, I am given my dog back and pay a bill of $392 .61 for that day for xrays and bloodwork.   As I was paying this bill, the female receptionist gives me severe ATTITUDE.  What did I do to warrant such behavior?  All I did was ask how much longer, told them I needed to go, and that I wanted my dog back, and she gives ME attitude.  I was like, "What is your problem?!  I had to ASK for my dog back and I just paid you over $300 and this is how you act?"There was NO ONE else there when I got there at 1:40pm.  She kept saying "if I had been there at my appointment at 8:30am......"  What did that have to do with anything???  They don't take appts, I walked in at 1:40pm and they immediately took my dog back and then I sat there silently in the waiting room until 2:45pm when I finally asked how much longer it was going to be because I could not stay much longer.  What did me missing the earlier appt have to do with NOW?It was like she was holding it against me for missing the morning appointment and that is why they made me wait and wait and wait, with my dog held in the back somewhere, while everyone else and their dog or cat came and went.  But that doesn't make sense to me for a receptionist do that.  They seriously expect you to wait FOREVER there and not say a word about it or even simply ask about the progress of your pet.  DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!  I learned that Summit Vet Referral Center will take ANY dog at ANY time into their ER for $95 (they do full exams and give meds there).  This place and their doctors and staff and huge medical center is a MILLION TIMES BETTER than valueLESS pet clinic.  The $35 exam fee only covers getting the weight and temp of your pet here and a quick glance by a mediocre vet - and I know from experience that you will get better solutions doing a google search at home!!They never sent xrays or bloodtest to Summit even though I told them to and Summit called and asked for them and they said they would send them within 30 min but never did.  Summit took their own xrays but luckily did NOT charge me for them knowing that I had just paid to have them done at value(less) pet clinic. If you value your pet, do not bring them to Value Pet Clinic. They are cheap, but like they say when you go cheap. You get exactly what you pay for. We brought our one year old Bulldog to Value for his second surgery and they allowed a vet that's only been there for three months to do a high risk surgery. The outcome was the worst we could of expected. He died! The vets excuse was "This happens to older pets". Excuse me! Our dog was one and had a very strong heart. He just had stones in his bladder! His first surgery was preformed at Summit Veterinarian. It was $2,000 more, but the care for our Jackson was great! They took every precaution necessary and went above and beyond. I honestly wish we would have taken him back. Three days after Jacksons death, we received a card from the staff and doctors from Summit wishing us best in these hard times. What did we receive from Value? Not a damn thing! The veterinarian at Value has a lot of questions that need to be answered. She was the Chief of Staff at Banfield Veterinarian Hospital. Sounds good right? Wrong! Why does a Chief of Staff at a great company leave her position to be just a Vet at "Value Pet Clinic"? She supposedly has nearly 20 years of private practice, but where? There's no information backing this. How about surgery history. How many high risk surgeries has she performed, and what were the outcomes? How many pets have died at the hands of her? These are questions they will not answer. If you know how I can find this information out, PLEASE comment and let us know. The way vets are hired at Value Pet Clinic needs to change, and the only way it will is if we do something about it before this happens to someone else. If you love you pet, spend the extra money to be sure you won't be crushed the way we have been. Read Less

They only get a 1 because I have to put something in. Worst experience ever. First question, is anyone who works here over 20? Including the vet herself?Other than the 2 at the reception desk, expect very rude, unprofessional service. Don't question the bill and what they are charging you for, just pay it with a smile on your face, and by all means keep your mouth shut! Or you to will be made to feel as if questioning our defending yourself is against the law.  Don't ever complain to the vet on duty, who you would think would be the one in charge, about how rude and argumentative her staff was with you. She will only defend her staff.I can believe whole heartedly that when the vet tells you that "her" staff was following her directions, they really were. Nothing like leading by example.  That now explains why being rude is so easy for them.If you do by any chance speak up and defend or question something that just did not seem right, you to can expect to receive a letter in the mail terminating your right to future services. Really?  Hey, here is a thought, maybe the "office manager" should have actually called me to inquire to my side of the story before assuming the staff was actually being honest with her.  I mean I was the paying customer....or does that not count anymore? I am so pleased to have found this place. I don't come here for the reasonable fees, as I'm willing to pay the prevailing rate for veterinary care in this area. The good value is appreciated, however. Why I am so pleased to have found this place for my dog is because I think the staff are hard-working, informed, patient-focused, and reliable. All the veterinarians whom I've encountered have been skillful, animal-focused, with good people skills, and the patience to impart their knowledge so that I can be informed of my dog's care. Yes, as a walk-in clinic, the wait times are a bit longer. I've dropped in, only to leave with the plan of coming back when there are fewer patients in the wait-area. I have very little time to come in as there are movers and loaders at my house the next two days - absolutely disgusted that they couldn't give us about 10 days of pills. Doctors will do that for people but not a cat? - blatantly asking for another office visit fee is what that is about / absolutely disgusted Read Less

If you care about your pet, don't take them here. The cheap price may be appealing but they treated my cat like trash. They even sent her home covered in her own feces because she was a "bad cat" and they had trouble getting her out of the cage. They literally handed me her carrier and said "she popped, I can smell it." I'm sorry, but what do you expect from a cat who's been locked up for the last 10 1/2 hours in an unfamiliar place?! She just had surgery and they hadn't even put a cone on her. Then they refused and said I would have to it it on later. Lastly, they didn't even provide me with any information on how to care for her after her procedure. I even after if there was anything I should know and they said no (after they had already told me someone would be briefing me on her procedure and how to care for her in the upcoming days). I get very anxious taking my dog to the vet. Partly because of the unknown cost and also I'm afraid of getting bad news. I put this vet visit off for 4 months. My friend recommended Value Pet clinic and it was such a great experience even with the bad news I was given. My dog needs to see a specialist and I almost lost it and went out to my car. The vet followed me out to make sure I was ok. In all the commotion of me being upset my dog missed his rabies shot and was already in the car. The vet went in and got what she needed to give him the shot outside so I didn't have to bring him in again. They showed me the compassion I needed and I won't think twice about going back. Read Less

Be careful. I brought in my very sick cat with sneezing, wheezing, not eating and difficulty breathing. Doctor said it was because his teeth had severe gingivitis and that 4 teeth needed to be pulled but not until he was better. Said I should get an Xray to see if he has any pneumonia. Was told the xray would be ready the next morning around 10am. No phone call received the next day, so I called them at 4pm. They said they would get right back to me, but no call was received.. The next day was Christmas, no phone call. By now the cat was not drinking or eating and was vomiting, so I took him to an animal hospital, they kept him for overnight, gave him IV fluids, antibiotics and put him on frequent nebulizer treatments. He stayed in one more night and came back in much better shape, though still obviously had congestion. The vet at the hospital said that the gingivitis was probably not the cause of his cold and did not warrant extraction but could use a dental cleaning once his breathing improved.Value Pet clinic refuses to refund the cost of the Xray even though it was never delivered. I don't mind paying for what I receive but it is very unfair to expect me to pay for a diagnostic tool that isn't even delivered for 3 DAYS after the test is taken! Read Less

After reading the reviews on Value Pet Clinic (Center ST, Tacoma) I felt compelled to share my family's experience. Last year, our pug, Frank, was attacked by a large dog. No major damage resulted but there were deep punctures in the loose skin around his neck and on the top of his ear. I took him to a local vet and he had surgery to insert tubes placed around his neck to drain any fluids from the wounds. When I got him back, my instructions were to administer the given antibiotic and I was not to disturb the wounds, tubes or e-collar. I was to only wipe the inside of the collar and the tube locations if they could be reached with a damp cloth of any drainage and bring him in for a check up after a week. I brought him back in less than a week because something was terribly wrong...he was extremely lethargic, would not eat and he smelled of rotted meat. We did not see the doctor that day at all. A vet tech saw him and took him in the back and washed the area of the surgery. She returned to tell me that things were looking very bad so bring him on Monday, 3 days away, and they might have to do a second surgery then. WHAT??? After the bill for his surgery, an emergency clinic's prices would have put extreme hardship on my family but our pug needed help urgently. I found Value Pet online and went immediately. The doctors examined him and scheduled surgery the next morning. They cut a roughly 8 by 5 inch patch of necrotic tissue from his neck. Within 2 days, Frank was back to his old self and everything healed flawlessly. I truly feel that the doctors' saved Frank's life. He was treated with kindness by all the staff and the whole situation was handled with professional efficiency. We will be taking our newly adopted second dog in for neutering shortly and I have great faith that he will be given the best of care. Read Less

I love this place! Granted it's a walk in clinic, but come on it says value. So you most likely won't get the services that you'd normally expect at a private vet or a place you make appointments. So complaining about wait time is pretty much a mute point, it's like you're trying to find something wrong.I have taken multiple dogs to this vet and the vaccines definitely are more affordable. I have gotten two of my dogs fixed at this vet too and what I love is they do it in one day so you can have your pet back that evening. Now if you follow instructions your pet will be just fine. Planning on bringing my female in next month. This was the first place I thought of. They have always listened to my problems and ran the appropriate tests without over inflation. I have brought my dog in here multiple times (mostly just for flea medication) so I cannot speak on major vet visits. However, each time I have gone in I felt that I had good service and that my dog was looked at thoroughly. If you are just looking to get vaccines, or flea meds, etc..then I say come here. They are pretty average wait times and are usually busy but still prompt. Any time I have random pet owner questions, the vet techs are more then happy to answer and give advice. I can't say that about other clinics I have been to in the area. Also, just a side note.....this place helped me (unexpectedly) decide to get pet insurance for my dog.A couple different times I have been there waiting, I noticed that there were people who could not afford the service to get their animals care. One person had to get their dog euthanized because of it. I would never want to be in that position. Get insurance for your pets. It is worth it if you are ever in the situation!!! My advice: come early or else be ready to wait a little while.  First time owner's, have no fear! Read Less

Worst place ever. We had our dog nudered and his dew claws removed. After that he got a respitory infection. Another bill and more antibiotics. He has never been sick before. X-rays too, had to sure it wasn't anything worse. Wasn't ever going back,..........then the kitty got hit by a car. Kitty had a badly broken leg and crushed toes along with cuts, scrapes and all over boo boos. Took him in, it was an emergency, kitty needed help! He was too dehydrated and weak to have surgery, the leg needed to be amputated. This was Thursday, took kitty home, gave antibiotics, IV fluid and wet food and pain meds. Kitty was strong enough to have surgery 6 days later. Sent home with no leg and nudered and Toradol. Like giving a super anti inflammatory. Really? Vet swore it was strong enough. This was $1,000.00 Bill. Well when the pain meds they gave wore off, kitty was in so much pain he was clawing at his cage and tore off his toenails. Took him to the Emergency Vet on 56th and Durango. They immediately gave him morphine. Kitty was is terrible pain. They kept kitty for 2 days and night to keep him comfortable on real meds. Kitty came home today. They sent him home with good meds to give him relief. Thank God they were there. I paid another $500. Well worth every penny. They treated him like a special patient who had MAJOR surgery and he wasn't suffering. Lesson learned, at Kitty's.expense. DONT TAKE ANY PET YOU LOVE TO THE SATANIC PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE! Worst experience ever! I have never done this before but after several weeks and still being so incredibly angry about my experience with this business, I thought that the public deserved to know the kind of vet they were taking their pets to. I waited with two small dogs in the vet for 30 mins after they told me that they could probably see me in 20 but would let me know if it would be longer. I was waiting with two small dogs that can be difficult to calm in that type of busy environment. When I asked how much longer after an unpleasant half hour of waiting with my dogs, I was told an hour. I told them that the other receptionist, now on lunch or something, had said they would let me know if it would be longer than 20 minutes, but really nothing could be done at that point. I left with my dogs and returned 10-15 minutes before my appointment and proceeded to wait about 20-25 minutes before I got a room, going through the whole process of calming my animals. Meanwhile, other dogs are getting rooms, one I know for sure checked in after me because they had just bought the dog 15 minutes before coming to the vet, they told me. When I finally saw the doc, after another wait, she spent mere seconds determining that my dogs recent perpetual scratching issue was due to fleas and recommended medications. Now, I know fleas due to my history with both these dogs and others and I tried to explain that I didn't think it was fleas because the extent of their skin trauma from perpetual scratching was drastically more severe than it was in the past with no evidence of fleas. And I was thoroughly checking them at home, including while bathing them. And, its pretty easy to see fleas through my white and light blond dogs hair especially when bathing. The vets response was, 'you can do whatever you want but Ive seen 4 or 5 other dogs just today for the exact same reason. It is fleas.' So, I gave in, even while I was frustrated that my history with my dogs meant nothing to the vet, wasn't even worth discussion. They gave them meds, mostly shots, one that went in the nose . I didn't ask them to identify what was what. I went to the reception, paid and, admittedly, gruffly, asked if I was done yet. She said she had to print the receipt and I would be ready to go. That was done and I asked again if I was done. She said yes and I very happily left. Until I was called 20 minutes after returning home and was informed that I had forgotten the flea medication and I would have to come pick it up. I had thought that they had given them the medication, so I wasn't aware I would be taking it home. When I asked why I wasn’t given the meds before I left, I was told that the medicine (which looked prepackaged, when I got it) was being "prepared". This all was nearly a five hour process and not once did anyone there have any understanding that I wasn't upset about the wait, I just didn't want to do it with two small dogs in a vets office with people and pets going in and out constantly when I could have been somewhere else, like all the rest of their clients seemed to be doing. And, I would have liked to have gotten a room before the people who came in well after me that had just bought the puppy. And, I would have liked them to say that they forgot to give me the medication and sent me home before they were done with me and not that I had forgotten the medication and ultimately resulting in more wasted time and gas. And, I would LOVE if my dogs issue were resolved. My dogs are still itching themselves constantly and are still miserable, the flea med that was supposed to work immediately, didn’t, at least not for their itching, which was why I brought them in, and this has been several weeks back now. I would never go back after this experience. They don't seem to have any concern for my dogs, for me or my time. Avoid the free initial exam coupon, you get less than what you pay for in this place. In August 2012, I was greeted by a friendly and articulate receptionist, Wendy, who guided me to get my newly acquired puppy vaccinated, spayed, and dewormed. I also requested a fecal sample. Unfortunately, the fecal sample was not taken that day, but i was told both by the tech and the receptionist to bring the sample in anytime. The following day, i returned to the clinic with the sample whereupon I was told that the sample cannot be accepted without an exam --- my pup was examined by another vet 2-3 weeks prior. No apologies were offered by the manager, just a nasty and uncompromising attitude. I contacted Wendy the next day and complained/explained the unpleasant encounter with the manager. Apparently, the manager was told/asked to contact me. During the conversation, she stated that she did not know about my having been told to come back by the clinic staff --- this is a brazen lie and i can give details to prove her dishonesty. I cannot believe that anyone can be so audacious and callous towards customers/anyone and then justify her actions with a lie. Read Less

Read Less

Don't go here. Read Less

Read Less

I have been in before and always received excellent service. The last visit was awful. The staff was rude. The vet was forcing me to do test on my pet and give her shots that she didn't need and already had a month prior to the visit. She told me she would not treat my pet unless I did them. That was when I chose to leave the clinic. I did not appreciate being forced to do procedures that were not necessary just so she could make extra money. I left extremely frustrated and u happy. Worst vet visit ever and I will never go back to this location.Read Less

Prescribing antibiotics for infections and being very professional. Read Less

This place is great! Wait time is usually long, but that is to be expected for a walk-in only clinic. I have seen 2 different veterinarians there and they were both very nice. I was comfortable and taken care of when I had to put my kitty down. The whole staff was really sweet. For my old kitty Una, the other vet was loving and rubbed all over my kitty and loved her. This place is great and will give you alternative food and med recommendations that are lower cost if you want to go that route. I prefer to pay for the convenience of getting everything from the vet. Great place! They truly love animals! Read Less

It could save your pets life! Read Less

I was nervous bringing my 8 week Chesapeake Bay Retreiver after reading all these negative reviews, but I gave it a shot anyway because I didn't have time to wait for an appointment somewhere else. I was very well received!  I showed up right at 9:00 and was seen taken to a waiting room within five minutes.  The whole place is very clean and the staff is courteous and professional, though this establishment is very busy.  When the Dr. came in, she sat on the floor with me and my pup Murphy for about 40 minutes, answering all my questions as a first time dog owner.  I will definitely be coming back for future care.  The first visit is free and they give estimates for any care beyond that. My advice: come early or else be ready to wait a little while.  First time owner's, have no fear! Read Less

Great staff don''t listen to these impatient selfish people who think that everything should be dropped the minute they walk in. I've taken my cats there and got good help and the doctors never failed to answer my questions to my satisfaction. I had to take my dog to be euthanized and they were polite caring and empathetic . The doctor came in and explained everything and talked to me about what to expect through the whole process. They allowed me to stay and never tried to rush me out even though it was after closing. Even took the time to sign and send a very nice card to me.

THE VET IS CRUEL TO THE ANIMALS. SHE HAS NO COMPATION. THEY SHOULD BE CLOSED. They made the dog sick and tourchered the kitty with untreated sever pain. Please. Stay away. Read Less
