The walk in clinic for your pets is a wonderful concept, but every time I have taken my clients dog there, it has been 2+ hours everytime.

I have always had very nice and caring vets at this place, my pets have always been cared for and each person we have seen has been honest and only told us we needed to do what they really thought, not trying to upsell us on more expensive options. The reason for 4 out of 5 starts is they are very under staffed, they are a great place so they are busy but when they open at 830am the little lobby is packed by 9 on weekends. I would think if a business has seen steady increase they would look into relocating to accommodate more patients at once. Also when you have a 9am appointment, but people walked in at 830 so they get served first... come on now lol. I love this place I just think their business logistics could be improved very easily! But I will still keep coming here and hope they add on or move to a bigger building. Read Less

In my experience, and the years that I haves been bringing my 5 cats to this clinic, I have found the staff to be helpful, friendly and compassionate. The Vet's that have taken care of my animals have been thorough, competent and willing to go the extra mile. My only complaint is the time that clients have to wait coming in as drop in's. I think this is to be expected, considering the amount of clients utilizing the clinic. I try to make appointments to avoid lengthy waits . CPC is a great clinic. I wouldn't go anywhere else. The staff here is friendly, however, the wait time can be outrageous sometimes. I’m frustrated as all hell right now because I brought my two kittens in for their vaccines today and I did have an appointment at 4pm. Not only did I have to wait almost an hour for them to see me but they brought my kitties back to treat them without allowing me to be with them which I don’t like either. The woman at the front desk did apologize for the wait a couple times and is going to try to comp part of the visit. So I appreciate the friendliness, but the bottom line is that we should be seen at or close to our appointment time. It becomes more and more frustrating as they see multiple walk-ins before they take appointments. Read Less

This place is always busy because they accept walk-in's and don't require a yearly wellness plan like Banfield. You can call and make an appointment and you'll be seen faster - but sometimes fluffy needs to be seen right away. The staff that welcome you can be friendly, or snappy, depending on what kind of day it is. The staff that work in back with you and your animal are kind and empathetic - they genuinely do care about you. The average cost (summing up multiple visits cost) is about $75 to $125 out of pocket. They do NOT do payment plans so expect to pay whatever they ask for. For the most part - I recommend you give them a try. I haven't been disappointed yet. Read Less

I walked up to the office at 8:10 am with two Boston Terriers to get their nails done. I was the only car in the parking lot. Three ladies were at the front desk laughing and joking...basically sitting around doing nothing. This was my first trip to this place so I wasn't aware that walk ins were on a different schedule than regular hours. They turned me away until 9:00 am when they take walk-ins. Despite the fact that I was the only person there and having nails done takes less than five minutes, they still declined to take my pets. I waited in the parking lot for 50 minutes, but then a horde of people showed up and it would be "some time" before I could be seen. My wife had taken our dogs there a month prior because our female needed her anal gland cleaned. Her butt-hole was sticking out like an ice cream cone. We had the vet look at it just in case. She said there was no problem and had a tech clean it. Less than a week later it was back. Joy. Read Less

My cat was struggling to pee and we took him to an ER vet. The ER vet basically told us we needed to pay a large bill or have him put to sleep. We took him home for the night and the next day I called around for cheaper treatments. I was unsuccessful and was resigned to having to schedule a euthanasia.. I ended up taking a chance with Companion Pet and took him in during their walk-in hours, still expecting the visit would end in euthanasia. To my relief, not only did they quote me a drastically different price for the treatment I was told my cat needed, but he ended up not needing the treatment at all!!! My experience wasn't terrible but I will never go to them again. The employees are nice but I am not a fan of companies that charge you for everything they can including up-charging for things that aren't necessary instead of just taking care of the issue at hand. It was like going to oil can henry's and leaving with a new air filter and timing belt you replaced a month ago.  My cat had a cold so I called and asked if I could come get some anti-biotics to bring home and they said they would need to see the animal.  Fine,  I brought my cat in and expected a minor exam. God no, they recommended blood work, a senior full exam ($300+), and x-ray's (extra).  He has a cold.  I asked if they would give me antibiotics instead of all the unnecessary exams and they said no.   The minimum they would need to do is an x-ray in order to prescribe him anything.  After the x-ray, they told me he was fine, just a cold (as I indicated over the phone)........so $300 later I leave with the anti-biotics I originally asked for over the phone.  Fast forward to 4 weeks later.....The antibiotics they gave me did not work, my cat has the same cold so I call to get more medication.  They will not prescribe more medication unless I bring him in.  Needless to say, I will not be going back.  It's clear they are only looking for your hard earned money. My dogs mean the whole world to me.  And their care is so important to me.  I have been taking my pets here for 6 years.  A couple of years ago I had my dog neutered and his teeth cleaned.  They gave a discount because he had his teeth cleaned while he was already under.  I needed to get my female dogs teeth cleaned but times have been tough for us and we struggled to pull together the money and saved for a few months.  I saw that they were running a 10% off special for dental cleaning in October.  I called to get a quote and was told the high end would be $525 BEFORE THE DISCOUNT.  So I figured I'd be paying around $473 which for us right now is a lot of money.  They scheduled the appointment for my pay day.  When I brought my dog in they went over what was needed and asked if we wanted any add ons.  Stuff like pain meds, etc.  I told them we were on a very tight budget, but we thought this was important to our dogs health and had saved this money so she could have this done.  The tech then quoted me $516 BEFORE THE DISCOUNT.  I left my sweet baby with these people I thought would take good care of her. During the day I paid some bills and worked out my budget.  Midday I got a call from the vet saying they need to pull a couple of teeth and that this was going to go over the quote by about $35.  I was like ok because I wanted what is best for my dog.  I figured this would be $541 BEFORE THE DISCOUNT.  So I figured $490 after discount.  I go to pick up my dog and am handed a bill for $561.  I said "is this with the discount."  A snotty unfeeling woman acted like how dare I even question this and said, "yep" I wanted to cry.  They added on $40 in anti-biotics they never said the dog needed and the discount that is only taken off the teeth cleaning, not the anesthesia, not the pain meds, not the extractions.  I basically got $30 in discount.  I looked at my husband and said I don't even know how we are going to buy groceries.  The snotty lady started going over the bill that I had already gone over that morning.  I said I had no idea the discount didn't include any of the other NECESSARY things that go with the teeth cleaning.  What was I supposed to do not take the antibiotics?  Snotty lady says "well that's it.  Do you want to talk to the doctor."  I said "no just get my dog." So she goes in the back as I am starting to cry and getting more upset.  And I can hear her in the back laughing talking about me and how I was upset with the bill. This place is in this business for one reason that is to make money.  They do not care about the pets or people trying to do the best they can for their animals. Read Less

I've been going to this clinic for years. I've always liked the service and staff but lately they seem SO busy all the time, and not just "normal" busy but "there's-going-to-be-about-an-hour-wait" busy! I usually make (next-day) appointments for my pets but as of late, those appointments have to be made several days (or weeks) in advance because they're booked! If you have to take in your pet as a walk-in, bring a good book, a lunch and a cot -- you're going to be there a while! And, I really do miss Dr. Phipps!!! She is so awesome, and my pets were always so comfortable around her; but now that she's moved (to a different vet clinic), I'm not sure I want to go back. Dr. Hill was really nice too, but unfortunately he's moved on as well. One of the receptionists, Melissa, is really nice -- she's been there forever. The other one -- not so much. I've been taking my pets to Companion PC in Vancouver, WA, for over 10 years but unfortunately am now looking for a new vet.  I can no longer make a same day appointment because there are never any to give!  It seems like all appointments have to be made for two or more days out, which is not helpful when your pet needs to be seen asap.  If you plan on taking your pet as a "walk-in," make sure you set aside at least three hours in your day because that's about how long it'll take from the time you walk in the door until the time that you leave.  (This has always been my experience, and I've had to use their walk-in services a few times over the years.)Dr. Phipps is gone and she was so awesome.  My pets were so at ease with her.  I liked Dr. Hill too, but he also left about the same time Dr. Phipps did.  Melissa (at reception) is gone, as well.  The service has declined, the number of patients has increased, the receptionists are condescending (one in particular) -- it's time to move on. Oh, where to start. I found this clinic doing an online search for a local vet. It was close to my work so I called and made an appt. This was the only easy part. I brought my cat to the vet for a neuter and I sat in the well decorated waiting area for 10+ min before being acknowledged.  They apparently give you one sheet of forms to fill out at a time because every time I brought one back, they had another waiting for me. The quote was $160 for the neuter and a couple vaccines and told me to call after 2 to check pick up time. I got off work and went to get my cat by 5:30 and sat there again for a while before being "called up" and told the cost had increased to just over $180. Dumb me lost my debit card and could not go to the bank because I also had to get my son from daycare by 6pm. Was there any sort of compassion or accommodation for that? Absolutely not. I had to leave my cat their overnight and was told if I did not get him by noon the next day I would get charged a hospital stay. They did not tell me when I left him that they would already be adding $50+ to the fact that they were "REQUIRED" to keep him since they do not do any type of billing. Once again, It is my fault I lost my debit card and they do have signs posted everywhere that payment is due at time of service. However, had I known I lost my debit card, I would have cancelled and saved myself the headache, frustration and mistreatment.SO... I went to get him at 11 today and was there before 11:30 and told to sit down for a little over 20 min while watching them send an older gentleman with a cane who had a difficult time walking who needed a walk-in appointment away. Such compassion. Oh but wait, they did run out to the car just as he was getting in and said they could squeeze him in but offered him no help getting his dog or getting back into the clinic. I get called up to pay for him and my total for a neuter is now $232. They better have given him spa treatment, gourmet meals and a cigar. I asked for my cats records and should a problem with his neuter or a problem with his general health occur, I will take him anywhere but Companion Pet Clinic, which is a shame because I have had wonderful experiences with other CPC in other locations.I work in "people" medicine as they called it and I could never imagine treating a patient or a patients family the way they did. Even with insurance, I know people who owe hundreds and more and funny thing is there is this thing called billing that can be done. If I could, I would give no stars. I just wanted to get the hell out of there with my cat and never return.Oh lets not forget the 5+ emails I have already received from them in less than 24 hours.PET OWNER BEWARE Read Less

Let me start by saying that the front of office staff was wonderful. The techs were typical. But, I found the vet herself to be rude. I explained to everyone that we are low income (my husband owns his own business and I homeschool our children). We do not have debt, and we are living comfortably -- however I make it a habit of living frugally and that includes vaccinating (aside from rabies) our own pets to save money. I took my older kitty in for two issues, the first and most concerning was an upper respiratory issues, the second was weight loss. She looked at the cat, and without explanation of what she thought based on experience started recommending tests. The first recommendation was a $100 blood panel, which would not explain the "kitty cold" that I brought her in for, and wouldn't help my cat breath. When I said no, she leaned back and sarcastically responded with a "well, then why don't you tell me what you want to do." Had it been sincere or caring in anyway . . . So, I walked out. I paid the exam fee first of course. Then sitting in the parking lot, I made an appointment with a different, vet to see kitty before pulling out of the parking lot. Now, this is potentially unfair of me, but I called them when I got home. Again, the front staff was wonderful -- but I asked if it was possible to bring my healthy dog in and give the dog a rabies shot. I asked for them to waive the exam fee because the first appointment was a wash (and though this isn't their fault because I was about to pay another exam fee this afternoon). I know it was a shot in the dark, but I wanted to see if they would be willing to work with us and maybe all wouldn't be lost. Nope. I hear the owner is wonderful (I did not meet him/her). The front staff was very nice. I didn't interact with the techs enough to make a judgement call. But, I just can't recommend the one vet. Maybe she's seen too many bad pet owners, is calloused, and decided I was one of them? But, I can't imagine her nose could have gotten any higher. I realize that vet's go into business for the animal, and not the people, but if you choose this field you have to be able to work with both. Signed, very disappointed. Read Less

Front desk staff are RUDE, CONDESCENDING, AND APPARENTLY HATE LIFE! they must be payed minimum wage and are unable to get a decent job with as much as they hate their jobs. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have been taking my dog here for 2 years...each time said maybe they are having a bad day...I will try again. Well today was my last straw. First issue a year ago was told my dog needed a splint because he fractured his leg by a covering veterinarian. Splint caused an open wound because it was put on in properly. Then next vet said "oh well he did not need this in the first place". Time and money later....he healed. Scheduled to have a neuter and hernia repair couple days ago. My dog was butchered. Was instructed to bring him back in 3 days (today) was told when I tried to check in that I had to come during walk in hours. SERIOUSLY? I just paid 200 dollars for a procedure and was instructed "to come back to take a look"....so you mean you want me to wait for hours with other walk ins for a post op "look". Wow! Then the bushy tailed receptionist pops up when I was not talking to her but another and graciously inputted her opinion "well that paper you got specifically states in hilighted yellow what times to come in". Sick of rude people. The blonde tech is great and super good with pets. Other than that....the place is a joke! It's cheap for a reason....STAY AWAY! Read Less

What a shame that client's degrade this amazingly wonderful clinic. I attest with gratitude the professionalism and unwavering care my pet children have received for over 18 years. We have not clicked with all the staff, but we were given an angel when we chose Dr Joe, his wonderful young assistant, and Korey. Helping a loved one pass is heart wrenching, but receiving hugs and tears from Korey, and the tenderness that Dr Joe gave to My Buddy and true kindness to me will never be forgotten. My heart is broken, but my memories of the good times with Dr Joe will ease the sadness. If someone is unhappy with this clinic, please resolve your issue in a professional manner. I still have not been reimbursed for unopened product that my dog didn't need. I took her to VCA hospital because she was still sick is how I found out she didn't need those medications were I was told and backed up by labs my dog is incontinent that it has nothing to do with allergies. If I hadn't taken her she could have gotten a lot sicker. I have asked to talk to the owner and have been denied. They might be cheaper. But they rip you off in the end. If they can't find something they will just make something up to charge and send meds home with you. Listing to the receptionist I couldn't believe how they handled there case so we left immediately. So my dog wouldn't get sicker. I went to another vet he said that my dog in No way has allergies or a ear infection he pulled labs she was suffering from inconsistents. If not caught her condition could have led to worse conditions up to surgery. I tried to take the un opened product back since the vet said it would weaken my dogs immune system if used. They would not refund anything and were extremely rude. I tried to talk to the owner to let him know what they did and they refused. Extremely unprofessional people.Read Less

I came here desperately trying to get help for my two year old dog. I had just moved back into the area after two years of living in Chicago and was extremely low on money due to the move and just starting a new job. My dog could not have gotten sick at a worse time. I took him to this vet after seeing online that they offered some of the lowest prices in town and hoping that I would be able to afford his care. It turned out that he swallowed a whole pair of boxers which was causing blockage in his intestines that needed to be removed immediately. At this point my dog had been throwing up for two days and lost all interest in eating. By the morning I took him in he was shaking and unable to walk. Knowing that it was an emergency the vet took X-rays and did blood work right away to get the proper diagnosis. Within 20 minutes they had him in surgery and he remained hospitalized for the whole day. When I picked him up he was groggy and his eyes were barely open but he was already wagging his tail when he saw me. That alone showed that he was already feeling better. Over the next two weeks he was in and out of the vet for check ups with the doctor and surgeon. He was on prescription food and about ten different medications. Every few days he seemed to feel better and better. We were told that the first week after surgery was a sort of danger zone, and until he made it past that we couldn't be 100% sure that he would make it. Today we are three weeks post surgery and he is doing great. He got his stitches out and is walking around and trying to play. I have been in with appointments and walk ins and I've never had to wait longer than 20 minutes. Over all my experience here although stressful, was very positive. The staff was very sweet with my dog and most importantly they saved his life. Read Less

If I could give no stars, I would. Actually, let's say this star is for the few staff members that have been helpful here over the years. Today was the last straw for me at Companion. My husband and I have taken our three dogs here for MANY years, and we were able to easily disregard much of the typical sales pitch at each visit (which happens at most vets). Today I waited for a half hour only to be told that they couldn't trim my dog's nails because she hadn't had her annual exam, when she had just been in for her boosters a couple of months prior, and again, has been see here for years. My dog has an appointment at a specialist in a few days for the same issue that Companion recommended her to a specialist for in the past. Why would I pay for two exams within a few days of each other? And when I know they will tell me they can't do anything and to take her to the specialist? I know the nail trim will cost more at the specialist, but I'll feel much better about giving them my money than giving it to people whose main interest is clearly in profiting and not in the health and comfort of my dogs. We don't spare any expense when it comes to the health of our dogs, but we do know what would be a complete waste of time and money. I know Companion has great prices, but in the long run, they will find a way to get the same amount of money out of you that you would paying a bit more somewhere else. Read Less

A zero would be more appropriate. We've taken 3 dogs and 3 cats to this clinic over a 17 year span. Prices were low, we liked we could walk in (long waits) as needed, and they appeared to be capable of basic care of our animals. Melissa is rude but most of the staff is friendly and caring. The problem, I discovered, is THEY ARE NOT CAPABLE OF CARING FOR AN ANIMAL IN DISTRESS. If something goes wrong, they do not have the proper equipment and they have no plan/knowledge to fix it!By administering medication my dog SHOULD NOT have had, he went into respiratory distress. HE COULD NOT BREATHE! Dr Joe's response was to call me, 30 minutes away, and tell me I needed to take him to the emergency vet, another 15 minute drive from the clinic. 90 minutes and $637 later, my healthy 6 year old dog was dead. Our family is devastated and I live with incredible guilt for my misplaced trust in this business. It is not worth the convenience/money saved to watch your dog struggle to take his last breath as you are racing to get him help at 90 mph, running red lights whenever possible knowing that had you just NOT taken him to Companion that morning he would still be alive. Since one of the Vets left this practice, the place has gone down hill. I have been going to this office for 5 years +/-, and all the while it was good. Then the Vet my dog saw for his allergy problems left and I have had nothing but arguments with the 'receptionist' and terrible customer service. I have been told I need to bring in my dog so the 'new' vet can get to know him even with several years of history with the same chronic problem. They won't even work with you over the phone and they are not reasonable. Not everyone can drop everything and come in right away. I fail to see how renewing an antibiotic my dog has been taking for his seasonal allergies for the past several years should be an issue for them when they have all the records year after year for him!!! I offered to make appointment later in the week but no, I would have to take time off work to see them first to get treatment. I could see it if I was a new customer, or there was something different that was wrong, but it's the same thing ... year after year ... and it seems it's about the money for them. It's not about the money for me, it's about being able to get time off work and the willingness for them working with me to accommodate my work schedule. I have spent $$$$ here but they won't be getting another dime from me. There is a 5 star receptionist named Melissa who is incredible, and a zero star - actually I won't even use the word star, nor will I give out her name, but she is just a zero with respect to helpfulness and customer service, in fact she is just the opposite , she is argumentative, even suggested I go see the former Vet at his new office !!!!! I guess it's their way or the highway. I wonder if customer service is a focus of this practice, because it seems to me if they are suggesting you go elsewhere, how can they care about you? Or your pet? The receptionist said the office manager was in a meeting (how convenient) and would call me back. She never did. So I am taking their suggestion, and going to the former vet at his new office. Seems like the right thing to do, since they don't seem to care, since it was their suggestion in the first place. Bringing up my up my concerns about the one receptionist fell on deaf ears with the office manager. I am moving on where I can get my dogs the treatment and care they deserve and where I can be given the service I pay for.Read Less

Update 9/2016 - Last year we were struggling with our 15 year old cat and breast cancer. We went through having the tumor removed in March however not all of it was removed. We decided instead of having her suffer another surgery we would do palliative care.  Fast forward to November. Her breathing is getting faster and faster. I knew that cancer eventually spreads to the lungs. We take our cat in to see if the cancer spread and they took an X-ray. The X-ray comes back with what looks like a cloud over one side of the lungs.  We are given an antibiotic to clear it up and are told it's it doesn't look like the cancer spread. We had decided at the beginning of her cancer that we didn't want her to suffer and that if it spread to her lungs we would put her to sleep. When we were told it was a cold in her lungs we had hope. Well...over a week the antibiotic didn't work and her breathing became more labored. We eventually got a second opinion from a vet not at the place and it had spread. I am really upset that the misdiagnosis at this hospital had my cat suffering for longer than she should. We put her to sleep at home in a beautiful moment. By the time we put her to sleep the cancer had consumed her lungs and her gums were turning blue. I think this office means well but they do not have the foresight to correctly diagnosis what they are looking at. We will never go here again. Update 7/15/15 - I am changing this to three stars. Today I called for results from a test for our kitten and spoke with Melissa at reception. She single-handedly provided excellent service allowing me to feel comfortable in giving this vet office a second chance. She answered all of my questions, was compassionate and concerned. She helped me get the answers I needed and plan the best course of action for my pet. We will only see Dr. Dobry in the future and really appreciate Melissa's care and great listening and problem solving skills.Original Review: 7/14/15 - I have so many issues with this place I have to break it down. 1. Every time we call and get a quote, then go in for the service, they end up charging us $25 or more than what they have quoted for the exact same service we inquired about. Reception blamed the doctor for not knowing their fees. 2. They offered if they could clean our pet's ears but did not tell us there is a charge for it. We found out at the counter upon check out it was $14.50 to clean our cats ears! 3. The customer service is lackluster and apathetic. Reception was in the middle of talking to me, answered the phone and didn't even say excuse me to answer it or ask me to hold a moment so she could answer it. She just stopped in the middle of our conversation to answer it twice.  4. Dr. Johansen talks over you, treats you like you are wasting her time. Gave us no more information that we already found online. Didn't slow down to spend time with us and answer questions and is like talking to a textbook. We brought in a mite treatment to see if it was okay with Advantage 2 and she knew nothing about either product and told us to consult the product website. Felt like we wasted $49.50. It was a thanks for nothing situation. 5. The ONLY reason why this place gets ONE star is Dr. Dobry is the a decent, friendly, caring vet. She needs to move to a better clinic which respects their clients and is more knowledgeable. If you absolutely MUST go there ask to see her and pray to the heavens reception doesn't screw something up. Read Less

I am livid with these people. Our old vet got too expensive for us, so we switched over to Companion Pet Clinic, because we heard the provided excellent care for good prices. Well a couple of months ago my husband took one of our dogs in for her annual exam and vaccines. He was told she was up to date on all vaccines so they just did the exam. So last week I took both dogs to get groomed and they checked to make sure they were caught up on vaccines. Our other dog was, but not our female. So I call to see what's going on and the lady was extremely rude. She told me that they needed to check with our old vet for records since she hadn't been given any vaccines there. So I called and they said no she's behind on everything. So I call again and they lady is rude to me again, but they talked to my old vet and figured something out. Companion Pet Clinic can't read charts, so when our old vet faxed their records over they put the DUE DATE as the date given which made it look like she was up to date. And then they were still rude to me after it was their fault. We are looking for a new vet again. Read Less

They sedated my dog and ripped off his dew claw (the nail itself) instead of removing it. $200 later my dog is in much worse condition. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS THERE!!! The lack of proper care by Companion Pet Clinic staff (Cascade Park) following a routine surgical procedure caused the DEATH of one of my cats at the clinic. This loss has hurt very deeply!!! Reception staff prior to that day was often rude. A few of the veterinary technicians were decent, but a couple of them could care less and were more concerned with selling more product and services. The DVM I worked with was good, she often went above and beyond previously. Often when I had scheduled appointments, which I arrived early with my pet for, I had to wait far after the scheduled time for my pet to be seen. Bottom line, I will never take any animal there even if they are the last animal care on the planet. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CLINIC, DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS THERE, EVER!!! Read Less

If I hadn't taken her she could have gotten a lot sicker. I have asked to talk to the owner and have been denied. They might be cheaper. But they rip you off in the end. If they can't find something they will just make something up to charge and send meds home with you. Please email [email protected] I am going to get a lawyer against companion pet for wrongful care/Diagnosis,charges breach of confidentiality etc. If you would like to be included in this lawsuit contact me. Please!!!! Do not take your pet here!!! Not only did Dr Johansen not listen to a word I said she miss diagnosed my dog with alerrgies and a ear infection. I had taken my dog to them on 12-29-16. To be taking her back on Jan 4th. When we were waiting in the waiting rm they had a dog with kennel cough come in that got sick from another dog they sent to that house.

Read Less

Horrible customer service! I tried making an appointment, I was told walk in only. Show up and the lady just pointed at the sign in sheet where it states "We suggest making an appointment!!" Are you kidding me? An hour and a half later I was "helped." The vet was no help at all. They sedated my dog and ripped off his dew claw (the nail itself) instead of removing it. $200 later my dog is in much worse condition. I call them two days later to tell them he is bleeding, and was told "Bring him in, we have walk ins." NO way am I waiting hours to be seen to have them do what? NEVER will I recommend this place. Read Less
