I will preface this review by noting that I have been a loyal customer for 20+ years. This is my family vet. I have referred countless people to this clinic. Even after moving out-of-area, I still made the commute to see the vets at OCV. Most of the people there are wonderful and true animal lovers. Why only one star? My experiences have varied in quality, especially when they are in a rush as they are always very busy and often do not take the time to speak with you and make sure your questions are answered. They do not always take the time to explain things to you. This was not usually a problem, but after this last time, I will never step foot into their clinic again. I scheduled an exam/neuter consult for my young male dog. I told them that I also needed a rabies vaccine. I had already performed a 10-way DHPPL regimen at home. We checked in, I explained he needed rabies only, and volunteered the information about his at-home regimen so they could note it on his chart. We went in for the exam, talked to the doctor a little bit about the dog, he recommended we wait to neuter until 10 months. I tried to talk to the doctor about the vaccinations he was given, but he was more interested in asking my husband (who is an immigrant from Australia) questions about guns and culture in Australia. He gave my dog 2 shots. I wasn't entirely certain why he was given a second, and since I had thought I was pretty clear at the counter, I thought they might be using a 2-stage vaccine. I didn't ask the doctor, and I probably should have as he was much more friendly than the receptionist, Lisa. I did not, for any reason, need a 6-way booster. On getting to checkout, I saw I was charged for the DHPPL. Twenty-something dollars, no big deal. But my concern was that he was given a vaccine that he did not need. I asked the receptionist Lisa about it and she said that I had told her he needed it, which could have been a misunderstanding... I guess. Or she just wasn't paying enough attention to me when I told her what we needed. I feel I was justly upset. I did not yell, I was not irate. Had she apologized and conceded that she made a mistake or misunderstood, I would have paid for it and been on my way. However, Lisa insisted that I asked for the vaccine and she was not mistaken - as if I don't know my dog's vaccination history when I've administered each of his vaccines. No apology, no acceptance of personal responsibility. There is no excuse for that in my mind, as is shows poor character. When they are supposed to be caring for my animals, I cannot risk their well-being because listening to their customers is not in their company policy.I did not want to write this review, but then after I requested vet records and moved vets, I saw what they had written on the chart about me. There is a falsehood on the chart stating that the doctor had explained the Rabies and DHPPL vaccines to me - he did not. He was in conversation with my husband. At no time before, during, or after administering the vaccines did Dr. Snowden explain the vaccines being received. It also reads in my chart that I was irate and there was a misunderstanding - which is also a falsehood, as Lisa assured me that she had not misunderstood. While I was definitely upset, I was not irate, however the attitude that receptionist Lisa took with me, definitely did not help to diffuse the situation. Then to see what was written in the chart just to absolve themselves of liability is so incredibly dishonest that I can't stomach ever speaking to these people again.I have no idea how they won "Best of Clark County" unless the rest of the veterinary clinics around are run by the 3-stooges and a mad scientist.
