If you can, don't go here. Because of New Management they are more money motivated, and will nickel-and-dime you over the health of your pet. As one receptionist told me they were 'severely under charging before' and are trying to rectify that. They are okay as far as vet clinics /emergency hospitals go, but for the price that they now charge they honestly are not worth it. They no longer give advice over the phone, you have to pay for an office visit EVERY TIME, even if you have previously brought your pet in the last 24 hours. Even if it is a recheck, or if you are just filling a prescription. The doctors are okay, but some of the vet techs are just lame. We just had our 5 month old puppy there for an overnight observation because he had got into something. When we came to pick him up in the morning they had to give him a quick bath before giving him back to us because they said he had just had an accident' which makes me wonder if he was sitting in his pee throughout the night. Like I said the price that you used to pay matched up with the care, but for the new price they charge people they need to up the care. So if you are willing to pay Dove Lewis prices with subpar Healthcare go here. However for the price you might as well go somewhere that you know will earn that price. Read Less

I have been coming to this Vet Hospital for many of my cats. Granted, there have been changes and upgrades, but for the improvement of the place. Yes, prices have gone up, but prices on everything in the city have gone up. The prices have not gone up due to fresh paint and a new picture on the wall. This office is up to par on new procedures and on advanced treatments! I have a beautiful and very loving and affectionate Himalayan kitty... until she goes to St. Francis or ANY vet! She then becomes the cat from hell; hostile, mean, growling, swatting, hissing, biting, etc. Although, she has become somewhat better because the staff is so good with her! They are so incredibly patient, kind and professional for whatever treatment she may need. This week's appointment was great and my cat is already feeling better! I think the front office and entire staff are great! Dr. C.C. is the best ever! I have only had two contacts as of now with St. Francis and I feel VERY confident with the services so far provided and my dog seems to feel comfortable with the environment, the staff and Dr. Tais. All of which, is important to me. Another benefit that I have received thus far has been their affordability. Again, up to now, I am pleased with their pricing. Worst veterinarian we have EVER gone to. Other than putting your animal down, they are about as worthless as a Confederate dollar bill! Baker is by far the worst "doctor" I have ever seen.Zero people skill and even less veterinarian skills. Several thousand dollars later, no idea what was wrong with my dog. Once I was out of money, he said "sometimes it's best to just put them down"! Then he instructed his "technicians" to "leave her alone, with no water or hydration or any medications, to die." I was told this from one of their technicians. I physically removed my dog. Took her to Dove Lewis and they made her well! that was FOUR years ago and she's doing great! This place should be closed down!!! And to Mr. Baker.....I would love nothing more than to run into you out in public somewhere! You would get the same treatment you gave my dog! Although the Ambiance in the lobby is a bit sterile and cold I guess that's what I would like in a hospital and so it is nice to know that our dog is not going into a dirty environment when receiving medical care. I don't get the hard-sell from these guys when they provide a treatment plan for our dog and I feel that they are fairly priced and provide good care. Read Less

Me and my husband USED to love this place. That is until the decided that adding a coffee “maker station” and changing some of the pictures on the walls justified there prices going up almost double!! The staff is great and was very supportive when our senior puppy passed away, but the prices are just to hard to swallow. I have had many animals over the years. Things come up at awkward hours and St. Francis Animal Hospital is always there to treat, diagnose and care for my animal upon arrival. I’ve used their services several times and feel that they genuinely care for the animals and work with you regarding estimates of care. I recommend this 24 hour clinic to anyone that needs animal care. This past week, we came in late, they treated our dog and then cleaned up our mess (spilled hot cocoa, twice!). Would advise against taking any pet there unless you plan on putting them down. I spent close to $800.00 and they kept my pet overnight. They said nothing was wrong. 3 days later I took him to Dove Lewis. They discovered he had a brain tumor and was dehydrated. They had to administer fluids through an IV. I was able to take him home as long as I agreed to continue to administer fluids daily through an IV. How did St Francis miss that? Read Less

I have a geriatric kitty who I needed to bring in somewhat emergently in the evening. We got checked in right away by very friendly staff and well cared for throughout the entire visit. They only charge a basic exam fee rather than charging extra like most other animal hospitals and urgent cares do which was amazing! "PUSHED" medications and would dispense immediately without blood tests, even sent us emails to "PUSH MEDS".   Met Dr. Baker at St. Francis and knew that Cosmo would be changing Vets.  We have now been here for several months, and we refer St. Francis to EVERYONE and our barista!  Staff is prompt, courteous and knowledgeable.  Dr.'s are honest and thorough.  We even received a refund from quoted emergency services and we thought the quote was a good deal for services received.  To the ENTIRE STAFF (incl grooming) THANK YOU ST. I highly recommend Dr. Stanhope. We had two chickens (yes you read that correctly) that we thought had bumblefoot (a staph infection from a sore on the foot). The staff were very friendly and when two dogs came in they were kind enough to put us in a room so it wouldn't frighten the chickens. Dr. Stanhope cleaned the sores on their feet (turned out to be an abscess) and sent us home with antibiotics. It's very hard to find an avian vet in this area and the recommendation for Dr. Stanhope actually came from our vet clinic when their avian vet had to leave. I live in Portland and have seen a great many vet clinics spanning from Oregon City to Gresham and this, my friends, is the BEST place I have been to! They aren't exceptionally fast or over the top friendly, but they DO take care of the issues in a timely manner and do not charge you an arm and a leg!! I'm in my 20's and pay rent. These guys ARE affordable and FAIR. Not the cheapest but VERY FAIR! I've seen them on two emergency occasions. First visit: My pregnant dog ingested SLUG POISON! They worked their magic overnight and one month later she had six healthy puppies! The bill was ~$600. Second visit: One of those puppies (at 2 years now) had the mystery vomits almost six times a day for two days. I took her in and slightly less than a week later she was all better! This trip included the visit, a shot, and two weeks of medication for $140. Come the 10th of March, I will be getting Jack fixed for the awesome price of $150 ( pain meds and exam included). These costs are practically unheard of! Long story short, I drive an additional 20 minutes to come here from Portland and I am beyond satisfied. Read Less

First of all, the place wreaks of urine. Like worse than a nursing home, what on earth? I've never been to a veterinary facility so filthy/dirty. The staff was okay my first appointment. Then it went down hill from there. Tonight was the worst customer experience I've had in my life. THAT was a huge f$@#!g disappointment. Scheduled a nighttime dental "surgery" like 2 months ago for my old rat terrier. Not only did they talk me into this cleaning with extractions, quoting me nearly a grand $$$, but insisted I do it because she has a heart murmur and her bad teeth could make her condition worse. So I schedule this highly expensive procedure (hell I wouldn't spend a grand on my own mouth!), for which they sent me an email to "confirm" my appointment on MONDAY for TONIGHT (Thursday) WITH instructions no food after 6, yadda yadda...I go to drop her off before 9 pm like it says, and "oh, we no longer do night appointments or any surgeries at night, all the vets are gone by 9pm". ARE YOU F$@!#&G KIDDING ME?!! "Since when?", I ask. "Oh recently." That's it? Really? And you guys didn't have the foresight to, I DON'T KNOW, check the SCHEDULE and call everyone to let them know or reschedule???!! How unbelievably unprofessional!!!! They just lost a cash cow, we have 4 dogs, 3 of them are seniors, never going back there again. St. Francis 24 Hr. Animal Hospital you can suck it! We have been taking our 7 y.o. lab since he was 3 m.o. I pull up and he goes nuts!! He drags me in, jumps on the counter to say 'hi'. They saved the life of my 7 w.o. pomchi in Dec 2015 when I accidently fell on her. She was only 1.8 oz!! She had a huge hematoma and brain swelling, but they saved her and she came home 4 days later with no impairments ($1100 total for emergency care, meds, oxygen, etc). This place is great! Our puppy Sergeant Pepper was fixed here Thursday and we will definitely be back. Shelley S is the best vet tech I've ever worked with. She was friendly and knowledgeable and very professional. She made us feel comfortable and answered all our questions. Another vet tech, Angie, and Dr Baker also provided excellent service and my puppy is doing great! Even though he feels embarrassed wearing a cone  We will definitely be back! I love this place so much. Best part my Corgis love it. The Vets are knowledgeable and had amazing geek chat with Dr Stanhope who handles small reptiles. We took our sick Pitt in on Christmas night. He quickly turns into a 90 lb baby when he's at the vet, but they helped make him feel safe. The staff is soo compassionate and willing to just drop to the floor and talk him through the procedure, to save the pup and us from any unnecessary stress. TWO of the absolute WORST experiences I've ever had at a vet. Don't waste your money on a vet who "doesn't know", ever. Took my 1 yr old Pitty in for a skin issue, they didn't know. Just spent 2.5 hours locked in a room with a sick dog whose puking blood, swollen face & bloodshot eyes...they don't know!! Worst customer service I've ever dealt with. Loved the ease of getting in here. They don't charge a crazy fee for being an emergency. Another emergency did come,in while we were there so it took a while. The Doctor was great. Very nice, she did tend to use to much doctor talk, so some things were hard to understand. But they took great care of our 2 pets that had to go. Read Less

This place is all about the $$, they told us everything was fine and it wasn't. If we left her here she would've died. We took her to another vet, but lost the only 2 pup's bc of she was pregnant with, bc we trusted the advice we were given. I dont understand how people have such horrible experiences, and even reading some of them, it looks like people are just ignorant to how veterinary practices work. St. Francis has NEVER, not once, been anything but professional, friendly, and above helpful to me and my family. We've gone here for the past 3 years, and my family together for 10+ and they are beyond phenominal. When I got married at 19 and had no clue what to do with my sick cat, they worked with me to decide payment, got my cat the best treatment he needed, and even saved me money in not recommending unnecessary testing. The level of honesty with that still astounds me. Yes, I may have to wait a bit longer because it is an emergency vet, but the wait is ALWAYS worth it. Thank you guys! Read Less

We took our 6 week old Lab puppy in yesterday for a check up and first round of shots. My appt was for 2:00. I got there 15 minutes early and was taken care of right away by the helpful, friendly staff. Dr. Tuason was wonderful, and took all the time needed to answer all our questions. The whole appt took about 20 minutes. I've always received wonderful service from the doctors and staff. We drive from Longview to St Francis so our 3 dogs can all receive the great care they give to their patients here. I know lots of people who drive from Longview-Kelso because the service and quality of care at St. Francis is far superior to anything we have. Read Less

Update- pet owners beware !!!!! My pet was withheld from me because the older receptionist behind the desk could not figure out my invoice or my bill, I had already paid $615 for a dental extraction but was told I owed $30 more, so when I asked why the older lady behind the desk what the extra $30 was for she could not give me an explanation. After spending about 20 minutes looking through the computer trying to figure out why she became frustrated and unsuccessful. She then asked the younger lady behind the desk if she could help figure out why I owed the extra $30. Again another 20 minutes later the younger gal behind the desk confirmed that she had no idea and after trying to figure it out she finally confirmed that I didn't owe anything and in fact they owed me $40. Although when the assistant from the back brought my dogs prescriptions to the front she asked if my bill was settled when I told her no she stated that he would not bring my dog forward and tell the bell was settled. I asked what needs to be done to figure out my bill I was told By the older lady that I would had to wait to speak to somebody on Monday. I was not willing to wait till Monday to figure out my bill just to take my dog home when they owed me the extra money. I arrived in the lobby at 1:20 and after a series of events of people not helping me and passing the buck I did not have my dog returns to me and able to leave until 1:11. If they gave my animal medication without my consent and then attempted to charge me for it without my knowledge, that is not my fault maybe the receptionists should be a little bit better at explaining invoices when asking for extra money. Took my puppies in for dew claws an tail docking they did an okay job cut the tails too long then went back for their first vaccinations we made the appointment a week in advance they took an hour to call us back then we waited back there till I finally walked out to the lobby they said my appointment was made for the wrong time an I can reschedule very unprofessional I won't be going back!! This place was awesome and affordable.  We found a lump in our 5 month old kitten, Sunny, and really needed to has it removed asap.  The staff were very helpful and the mass was removed the very next day.  After the tests came back, we were told that it was abnormal cells that developed after his injections.  It was so large though I am very glad the mass was removed.  The stitches have now been removed and Sunny if off to being a normal, causing trouble kitten again. I have taken 3 pets to this vet at all different hours, some scheduled appointments, some walk ins. I have had Dr Stanhope & Dr Stoll. My pets all received excellent care by all the staff. I have always received pretty fast care, especially when the situation warranted it. I recently had to take my old sweet baby girl (big doggy) in, in the middle of the night to have her put down, as awful as the situation was, the vet techs that helped me made the situation as good as it could have been. I requested that they give her a sedative to make her drift off to sleep before she was euthanized, they did that so I was able to just be there with her when she drifted off to sleep, I left once I was convinced she was completely asleep. The vet tech gave me a big hug & assured me she would keep on providing my girl with loves till the very end. I highly recommend this facility. Read Less

We've been taking our pets to St Francis for several years and are happy with their service. Yes, there are times when we have to wait for quite a while, but people need to understand that routine stuff will be set aside for emergencies, as they should be. This is a place that does not require appointments, so delays happen. There's another 24-hr hospital in Vancouver that is great, but also has long wait times. I think it's the nature of the business. (Kind of like people emergency rooms) As far as needing to pay up front, consider that some people stiff them on their services. How many times do you expect a business to put up with that before they create a policy where you have to pay up front? Keep in mind that these people are dealing with animals who cannot talk and explain what it wrong. I can't imagine how difficult that is, and there will be times where mistakes can be made. I highly recommend this Animal Hospital Clinic for their outstanding quality of care and their reasonable prices. I'd love to give no stars for my recent experience I am so DISGUSTED in the male doctor I had. I brought my lab/ pit mix in for I'm assuming a sprang paw he was in pain but still able to walk. In the last year he's become aggressive towards women that why I asked for the male doctor, I put the muzzle on him as a precaution for everyone's safety. The young lady tried to get his vitals and my dog lunged at her something he's never done scared both of us. I felt bad for this girl told her take him in three back he usually behaves better back there. The doctor comes in gives me my choices for home care. I apologize for what happened to the girl but began to explain I rescued him a few years ago and in the last 8 months this all began I don't understand why, I am looking good for answers so I can change it. This doctor told me to not make excuses and basically you could tell he didn't care he said he wouldn't have this type of aggressive dog in a home and I should get rid of him. WTF SERIOUSLY. I'm asking for help and his solution is to get rid of a dog who doesn't care about anything when he's on a walk or at the dog park, and he's great with kids. This dog is my son my child I owe my life to this dog he saved me from an abusive marriage, saves me from suicide and this sack of crap says to get rid of him. Maybe they should get rid of this doctor cause he obviously don't wanna help people. My job is to help my dog after he's done so much for me. Next time Mr vet doctor show someone some compassion especially when their asking for help and trying to fix the problem. And maybe get the details before your a dick, I was beat and this dog saves me I held the gun to my head and this dog saved me, now I'm fighting cancer you insensitive prick. I hope karma's bus stops right in front of you one day. I will never never never go back to this place. Two years ago I took my lab in after a stroke and seizure that left him in obvious pain. He was an older dog. The receptionist was the most uncompassionate person I have ever met. It is obvious they are in this for the money. Now everyone deserves to get paid and I understand people might not pay after the dog is treated. As a business, they should have policy to prevent that but not at the expense of an animal being in pain beyond reason. Today, I went with my mom to take her bassett hound in. We suspected a broken foot. Dog was in a lot of pain and very vocal about that. Even though they had seen this dog a few times for allergies they refused to give her anything for pain until my 75 year old mother paid the estimated bill of sedation, x-rays, pain meds and anti inflammation meds. $375. Mom got out her checkbook but they only take checks for $200 or less. She didn't have a credit card so asked her to go get cash. Sweet ransom. My 75 year old mom listening to her beloved dog yelping in pain. Here's the kicker. Vet didn't think there were any broken bones but bassett bones are strange. She took xray of other foot to compare. Final bill was $175 so they owed mom money. She insisted in a cash refund. I will drive right past the place the next time I need an emergency vet. I recommend you do too. Read Less
