These people are very knowledgeable and they really care about the animals they see! Monica is absolutely amazing. She did a mastectomy on my cat who had been diagnosed through her to have developed diabetes and breast cancer. My only complaint is that we never got much of an opportunity to talk with her. I am sure she is busy, but that aspect of care is very important to me and the rest of staff seemed to not know enough to answer without consulting with Monica in some way. All in all I was still very happy with all the service and ease of setting up a payment option for the surgery within our budget. Would recommend. Edit; Have had major problems, and ended up being bitten. By my own animal but due to staff negligence. All problems seemed to be caused from the staff not communicating well with the doctors. I am in excruciating pain from tendonitis, and am currently on three antibiotics. All in all I am not happy with the vet. Still four stars because Monica was very good when I finally got to talk to her. Read Less

Puppy started vomiting at 4AM, called and they were able to get us in (not our regular vet). They listened, asked lots of questions, suggested a few different options of treatment. They took xrays and read them while we waited, administered medications and hydrated our puppy. We were treated well, informed in a manner that we could understand and make a sound choice on. Happy to note puppy is feeling much better and doing well. Again, this was not our regular vet, but it is now. We were treated as people and not a payday. Read Less

Very good service, can get a little spendy but I also had what I thought was a phenomenal deal. My new little kitty had a blurry spot in one eye, turned out he had an inverted eyelash scratching his eye. They cut the eyelid, stitched it, and he was so happy he does like 90 mph through the house playing with his brother. I was billed like $100, a fifth what I expected. Love them now! I give the Camas Washougal Animal Hospital all five stars! The staff are very good with the animals and the Veterinarian is knowledgeable and does a wonderful job. In comparison to other places the prices are very reasonable. I have been in several times with my sons 2 dogs and have been very satisfied with the service and with the care that the dogs received. I would highly recommend this business to any one looking for a good Veterinary Clinic for their four legged family members. Read Less

At first I really liked this place. They were nice to my animals, but one of the vets seems to be scared by my small dogs. One day I notice my cat was peeing blood. So I made an appointment. They told me I needed to get a urine sample before coming in and by the grace of god, I did. The gal who I spoke to on the phone was rather rude when I asked why they were not going to take a sample there and after passive-aggressively arguing with her for a while and asking her how to get a sample of cat pee, I gave up. The only vet available on short notice was, of course, the vet who is scared of dogs and is also apparently scared of cats. My cat is a sweet cat and wasn't giving them any grief at all. So my cat got some antibiotics. They said I needed to bring another sample in in 10 days and charged me to check that sample before I ever even brought it in. Shortly after the antibiotics were done, there was blood in her urine again. So I managed to get another urine sample, and took it in (This is the sample they charge me for on my 1st visit). They prescribed me more antibiotics and told me my cat would need to forever be on prescription food - which I could conveniently purchase from them. Then told me to bring another urine sample in again in 10 days. After those antibiotics were done - more blood in her urine. So I went to my other vets office. Although a bit of a drive, it was worth it. My cat has cystitis. The vet was absolutely shocked they were making me get the urine samples because those would be useless. The samples I got were not sterile and bateria would have been added into the urine from the environment (stuff I used to get and contain the urine). My cat was given 2 weeks worth of amitriptyline to keep her calm and she has not had an issue since. He also told me to take her off the prescription food. That was 5-6 moths ago. Read Less

I have 2 cats (1 senior) and 1 dog (also senior age) . The 2 seniors have several ailments so I'm in the clinic a lot (few times a month) . I've brought my animals here for about 3-4 years on the advice of several friends. Up until about 8-10 months ago, I'd give 4.5 to 5 stars. However, it saddens me that there has been some kind of dissatisfaction on most visits over the last several months. It started with the clinic removing growths on my dog that weren't previously discussed.  When I asked why, a young tech explained that it was in the best interest of the dog (inadvertently implying that I somehow didn't care about my dog) . When I said that's never happened before she said it was policy. When I said I'd like to know up front she said they could call me while he was under anesthesia but that I would not have a say in the decision.  Luckily this only cost me about 40 extra but it really rubs me the wrong way especially since this was not true only a year ago when he'd have growth removal. Next, I took my cat in for a tech appointment and was asking the girl about some concerns.  So she asked me if I'd like to, instead, have a vet appointment.  I was hesitant since I didn't have a ton of time. So after checking the schedule, she said there were openings and it should only be 10 minutes.  We'll, it wasn't.  I got called back soon but then sat in a room for over an hour and a half. To make matters worse, I overheard the vet outside make rude comments about how I needed to realize she was busy (me, not the young tech) and how I just needed to wait my turn. She then said I needed to be treated like a walk in appointment (despite the tech telling me there were openings) . I called my husband due to being so angry over the lack of professionalism that I just heard outside the door and suddenly they came in. I let her know that I never intended to be seen but the tech suggested it and told me there were openings (my intention was to indirectly also let her know I heard her through the door) . Although I think my pets care was decent she never apologized for her rudeness. Again I was disappointed. Another time they wouldnt let me go back with my cat (who is nervous at the vet) per a new policy. Then she bit the poor girl for the First time ever. Since then I have had several encounters of the right and left hands not knowing what each other is doing. I don't know what's changed but something definitely has. Read Less

Our dog has been coming here for many years - and it's hit or miss depending on the doctor you get. However, recently with one of the new doctors it's been a few serious misses followed by a horrible experience for our family. I understand a doctors choice not to euthanize, however they shouldn't make that choice after an appointment is made for a dog that is terminally ill and in pain. We spoke to the clinic at length about the situation before we came in because we were so scared and sad. They assured us the process would be done with care and dignity. Dr. Cleveland however decided to shame my husband when he arrived and refused the euthanization. She's the same doctor who refused to help my dog the last time we were there asking about her debilitating anxiety. I brought her there hoping they might be able to make her more comfortable in her final days, but they didn't offer any solutions. Only a surgery for her tumor - and for a dog with a two-year-old congestive heart diagnosis and fluid in her lungs - a surgery doesn't seem like a good solution. I'm so upset that they put us through this emotionally, and sent my bleeding, nervous, sick dog back home with a quote and nothing more. I wish they had read her full chart before dismissing her like this. Read Less

This review is a bit late, but very well deserved. My boyfriend and I adopted a senior cocker spaniel from the Southwest Humane society in September of 2015. With the adoption we received a list of vets in the area and one of the volunteers pointed out Camas-Washougal Animal Hospital as our lady needed quite a bit of dental work and the volunteer had great experiences with them before. They did a great job with her free first exam and were very easy to schedule an appointment with for the teeth removal. The shelter estimated Mabel, our cocker spaniel, to be around 11, the vets estimated her more towards 15. The vet also informed us she was deaf, a fact we were not aware of at the time. The surgery went very well and was extremely well priced considering the cost of the same surgery at other offices around the area. It was a great experience, but only part of the reason they are receiving the review they are. This past August Mabel also went blind and could no longer control her restroom needs. This along with her deafness and age (approximately 16-17 years old) brought us to the conclusion that it was time for her to cross the rainbow bridge. They were very accommodating of our schedules as we both wanted to be there and the appointment was easily set up to allow us both to attend. The whole staff was extremely polite and understanding from the moment we walked in. We were taken back fairly quickly and the whole procedure was explained to us. The veterinarians were very compassionate and made sure we were okay with everything happening. Even more so they were very gentle with Mabel; at her age the veins were difficult to find but they were as gentle as they could be. They let us have as much time with her as we wanted and never rushed us once, despite having several people in the waiting room when we left. A few weeks later we received a card from them with their condolences for our lost and the staff had all signed it. This hospital has gone above and beyond with all of our interactions with them, and I am forever going to be grateful for the way they handled and behaved during Mabel's first and last moments with us. If you want to be talked to like a small child this is the place to go. We brought in two kittens we rescued from an over populated area and have had and bottle feed since they were about 4 weeks old. We've given them all of their vaccines so far and took ten in specifically for an ear mite treatment and rabies vaccine. When we arrived everything went normal until the vet came in and promptly told us they weren't old enough for the vaccine, even though they knew the age of the kittens when we made the appointment. We brought in every over the counter medication we had used with the kittens and they told us the Advantage medication we got was garbage and that we needed to use their preferred brand. We ended up only letting them clean one of the kittens ears because they took it out of the exam room to clean her ears and then must have literally put her on a desk right outside the door because we could over hear nothing but rude comments about how bad her ears were. Obviously we wouldn't have brought her in if their wasn't a problem. But there's only so much can you can do medication wise with young kittens. The experience was so overly rude we ended up leaving and not letting them clean out the other kittens ears who hadn't shown signs of ear mites yet but we were worried since it can be transferred from one cat to another easily. Overall the experience would have been fine if anything they had said to us had come from one adult to another. But quite frankly everyone we spoke with their from checking in the payment on the way out was short with us, rude, or condescendingly talking to us as if they were talking to a toddler. We won't be returning, and I won't be recommending the place. Read Less

This group is absolutely TRUSTWORTHY! I have a French Bulldog and I was warned by the breeder I purchased her from, "Vets get dollar signs in their eyes when they see a Frenchie, shop around for a vet while your pet is healthy". My Frenchie had a skin tag which appeared to be malignant due to it's location on her nipple. I was given a surgery date and a few estimate. They day of surgery I left with paying less than $200 & the doctor refused to charge for the biopsy because once the cut was made she was able to tell it was just a skin tag. I kept in touch with the breeder I got her from & she said, "Looks like you've found one of the ethical doctors, that's a great price, they could have biopsied it just for profit etc." Read Less

I am so sad to write this review! Our dog is at another vet right now as I write this. I called Camas-Washougal Animal Hospital 2 days ago with concerns about my dog. They told me they didn't think it was an emergency and to wait it out. We did. Our dog became extremely uncomfortable late this afternoon and we could tell he was in a lot of pain. When I called again, they told me it was too late today to bring him in (they were closing in 45 minutes) and I could bring him in tomorrow, but I would have to be prepared to wait a long time because they were squeezing me in. I told them I'd rather come in right now and wait so my dog wouldn't have to suffer all night, but they wouldn't budge. When we told them we were taking our business elsewhere since we obviously aren't that important to them, (we have 3 dogs), they didn't care. They didn't give me any advice to keep him comfortable, or give me any other options. So I called Summit Animal Hospital, who also couldn't get me in today, but told me that I could take my dog to Columbia River Veterinary Specialists. We don't know the outcome yet, but we do know that we won't be back to Camas-Washougal Animal Hospital. As business owners, we know how important it is to value your customers. We certainly didn't feel valued or appreciated there. And there was absolutely no compassion for what our dog was enduring. Not what we expect from an animal hospital. They may be less expensive than others, but the old saying rings true: You get what you pay for.Read Less

These guys are the best !!!! I have been coming here for several years now and they have taken great care of my kids, at a very reasonable cost to me. They have worked with me in every way imaginable when it comes to me and my dogs being comfortable in their surroundings and making sure that I have an understanding of what needs to be done and why, and they have never taken advantage of a situation for financial gain when it would have been so easy to do so and others had. ( unnecessary tests, inflated charges, etc.) I have tried other vets before finding them and always felt like once I dropped my pet, off that what happened after that was none of my business, and I learned a lesson from one of my experiences with a local vet that ran their practice this way and that is if they don't feel comfortable in letting you check out where you will be leaving your dog there is more than likely a reason for their behavior and my advice to you is Don't do it. Bottom line is that I have to feel confident with the people that I entrust the care of my animals to and these guy's have earned that trust in every way. Read Less

One of my Labs has a terminal heart condition and his medication is extremely expensive every month. When my wife went in to clarify some fees and process to fill medication elsewhere, eventually the "manager" got involved and was extremely rude and suggested we take our business back to our old Vet. I was very scared about bringing my little bunny boy here, because I was reading about other places (not this hospital) and the other places had bad reviews. But Camas-Washougal Hospital seemed to have ok reviews so I brought my little boy here to have his neuter. (he was spraying all over the house, it had to be done). The girl at the front desk was young and seemed caring... I handed over my bun and smiled as she took him from me. Then I went out and cried in my car in the parking lot (I know, I'm a sap lol). They called back I want to say maybe two hours, and said he was done. I was at work in Beaverton so I couldn't go get him, I sent my boyfriend to get him. My boy recovered very well... the first day he wasnt too active and didn't eat too much. But by the second day, he was acting normal, racing around the house and even jumping! (which he shouldnt be doing haha). But I was so pleased to see how he recovered, he was eating and drinking like normal, he hardly skipped a beat. The part that impressed me the most was that the hospital called about a week or so later to check on him.. I thought that was just wonderful. They were very nice and I was very glad to tell them he recovered well. So, even though this place is out of the way, I didn't trust the other hospital in Vancouver... the VCA wants you to pay like $50 just to have an initial exam and then the neuter is additional. At Camas-Washougal hospital I think it was only like $55 or $65 for the whole thing I was impressed with the care they gave my bunny. So I would say don't bother with the other hospitals, this one is out of the way but the service is 5 stars. Read Less

This is by far the WORST animal hospital I have been to.  After 2 years of getting my cat groomed on a regular basis, they treated me like crap.  I drove 15 miles each way to get there because I had heard they had good reviews, which I am CONVINCED they wrote themselves.  The groomer usually did okay with shaving my cat, but she did the wrong style once, did a horrible job leaving uncut spots all over the place another time, and now, when THEY are responsible for cutting her toenails, the groomer CLEARLY missed her thumbnails and now they have grown into her pads.  By the way, my kitty has to be sedated because she is hard to work with so if she is asleep, how the hell do you miss the nails?  I brought her in and the manager "Greg" was very unhelpful and untruthful.  He told me they would discount the sedation since it was their error, yet when I got in there, he told me I would have to pay for the surgery to get the nails out.  Then he even had the audacity to suggest I just get her declawed and said she probably has diabetes or some other disease! He even said, "maybe YOU need to learn how to cut her claws yourself!"  Why do you think I have to bring her there?  With sedation?  Big dishonest jerk!  If you want poor service, unreliable grooming, and rude people then this is your place. Be careful if you want them to groom your cat. They say, $85 will sedate, shave her fur, cut their nails and clean their ears. My can does fine through all of that. I've been there several times and once she came back with the most horrible shave ever. Tufts of fur missed all over the place. The manager apologized and gave me 50% off the next shave. That was fine. Came back again, to have all the same stuff done, paid full price, and one of her nails kept catching. Now it is only 2 months later and the nail has grown in to her pad and got infected! I feel this groomer either needs more help, take more time to do the job right or I may take my kitty somewhere else to have this done. This is negligence. Read Less

I absolutely love this vet hospital. So much so, I'll drive the extra miles to get there from Portland. They are straight shooters, have very reasonable rates, don't try to up sell you on crap you don't need, and are very nice. We have an old, but other wise healthy doggie. But the vets in Portland just want to over treat her and put her under for surgeries that aren't absolutely necessary, instead of taking more conservative measures and see how things go. The vet in Portland was estimating a teeth cleaning topping out at $1700! Because our dog is older and has a heart condition that makes anesthesia danger for her, Camas Washougal Animal Hospital suggested we try an antibiotic for oral bacteria and some special snacks to chip tartar off her teeth. That option really worked. And it only cost us about $70 for an exam, the meds and the prescription doggie treats. Don't get me wrong. We will spend money on our pets. Believe me, we have. And lots, for speciality surgeries that saved her life. But at some point Portland vets need to stop thinking our pockets are deeper than some Wall Street a-hole's and try some more affordable options first.CWAH is not a swank, posh clinic like you see in the Pearl. It's clean, a little worn around the edges, but  honestly, my dog thinks the bushes all smell about the same out in front, and she's color blind so could care less about the decor. She loves the vets too. So she's happy. I'm happy. Thanks CWAH! You all rock! Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

He got really sick & I remember the vet & a few other of the staff came to my house to put him down so my dog didn't have go to the vet one last time. I always thought all veterinarians do that, until I got older & realized that they really don't. They have the nicest, caring staff ever! And they know what they are doing. Hands down the best place to bring your animals. This is the only place I'm not nervous to leave my dog at, because I know she is in the best hands. Read Less

I love Camas-Washougal Animal Hospital. Every time I have something wrong with my cats, I bring them here. They do appointments very well, which means I rarely have to wait very long once I get there. Their prices are very reasonable. A visit is just $35, if I remember correctly. Medicines and the things they sell are very modestly priced as well. I've been to some real ripoff vets, living in Southern California, and I'm glad to say Camas-Washougal isn't one of them.

Read Less

Its hard finding good vets :-) Read Less

Read Less
