Took my bearded dragon in to get checked out due to weight loss. The veterinarian was very kind and helpful with my questions. They sent me home with antibiotics with her and they gave her a dewormer. The vet techs were extremely kind and educated on any questions I had. Brought her home and just after the meds they gave her and advice I've been following from them she's going uphill! Got her to eat and she seems very content now. Our 16-year-old dog had a seizure this evening and this was our first experience with an emergency vet. I immediately searched for a nearby vet and called; our dog was able to be examined by a vet 30 minutes later. The associated cost was reasonable (about $100) and we were told we could bring her back without another exam charge if she experienced another seizure within a week or so. I brought my dog in they told me it needed surgery asap. It was 6pm and all other vets were closed. They said her chances of making it through the night were very slim. They wanted $ 2,800 i did not have the money. So i waited until the next morning. And had it done for less then half the price they wanted. They still charged me 170 dollars for the exam. They do great work bit i would only use them in a true emergency. Way to costly Read Less

I have been using MECA for emergencies for the past couple years now. Every time I go here I feel welcomed and know that my pets are receiving the best care possible. Recently my 16 year old cat was diagnosed with kidney failure at this facility so I took her here because she wasn't doing well and was very lethargic. knowing that she has a history of kidney issues they immediately did blood work which showed that her kidneys values were quite high again. After a 24 hour stay in hospital for fluids and medications her values normal She is finally back to her normal self and is eating on her own again! Read Less

Recently I had to bring my 6 year old Lab Hannah to VCA Milwaukee emergency center for animals for swallowing half of her rope toy. They were very professional and caring. They recommended x-rays in order to see where the toy was located in the intestines. After taking x-rays and sending them to the radiologist it was confirmed that the toy was unfortunately stuck in her intestines. They gave us the option to hospitalize overnight on fluids to see if it passes or take her to surgery after hydrating her for a few. We opted for the surgical route to prevent any potential complications due to waiting too long. Myself being a nurse I understand the risks associated with foreign body ingestions. The doctor kindly contacted us after the surgery to let us know everything went well and that the toy was removed. The did however have to remove a small part of her intestine since it was damaged from the toy. After a couple days in ICU we were able to take our baby home and she is doing great! My mom and fiancé took in my cat who already passed away to the animal hospital. The experience was already tragic since the passing was so sudden and unexpected since he was only 7 years old. He was a polydactyl cat and had what I used to call mitten paws on his front paws. My mom and fiancé requested to have the clay paw prints. And specifically asked to have his front paws. The tech that help my mom and fiancé who seemed insensitive to the situation, did ask which paws we would like to have on the clay prints. Upon picking up his prints which was already hard for me do, they were not his front paws. I spoke to the tech that was there and she was helpful and understood the hurt and called the company that they go through which is stationed in Chicago. The company claims they need to be told which paws if it is specific because custom is the back paws. It is heartbreaking and frustrating that it was requested but never noted. The tech that helped me didn't know this and emailed everyone letting them know that it needs to be noted when they send out the request. It just disappointing having to be the person who is already heartbroken with the situation not have what was requested and there is nothing that can be done. Just wanted to let other people know this experience, and maybe double check or see the notes they make for the clay prints so this doesn't happen to you. Read Less

Our 2nd experience with this facility. Once again, truly amazing all the way around! Our cat Toby was admitted for a life threatening urinary blockage, so stayed 2 nights. I came here with my ferret a while ago. They ran blood tests. He had an ulcer, and the vet wanted to put him on an IV and do all sorts of things and said it'd be around $800. I said well I dont have that much money. So then she told me she can just send me home with antibiotics, he'll be fine and it costed me around $200. Like really? If it isn't necessary to do all of those things why would you even try taking that route? I didn't even think of it until I came here and read reviews about how they do unnecessary procedures to get the most money and that is 100% true. Avoid thus place unless you ABSOLUTELY need to bring your animal there, and when you do ask for every single bit of information and remember it. It all counts when you're dealing with people who put money income over animal welfare. Read Less

At first I was having a hard time finding an Avian Veterinarian who was available quickly see my sick Parakeet. Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals was recommended by another Vet. I could bring her in immediately. My Parakeet stayed the night and was given a special feeding and an antibiotic shot which helped tremendously. I could visit her as often as I wanted and at any time. After bringing her home, it was a comfort knowing they are open 24/7 should I need to return. At 0300 am we knew we would not be bringing Maggie (17 years old, and very sick) home. We called the clinic to tell them we were coming. They were waiting at the door for us. After a quick check up by Dr. Lindsey Foster she reassured us that our decision was the most humane. Everyone there made the best they could out of a bad situation. Everyone there was very professional and compassionate. They were very prompt in notifying our vet of Maggie's condition and that she was euthanized. My dog Leo was referred by his vet to have a growth removed from his foot. The staff and surgeons were great!! They were very attentive to the needs of my pet and the aftercare was just as good. It was on the expensive side. But when you need help on a Sunday, it's great to know they are there! I got the information I needed about my 14 year old baby to make an educated decision on how to proceed with my concern. Life Saver! They saved my baby Elsa! The whole team was devoted on helping my fur baby be comfortable while she was receiving treatment for Lepto. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. These wonderful group of people saved our dachshund. He woke up one morning in early August unable to walk. We had been told by every one I called he needed surgery or have to be put down until I called here. They gave us hope, immediately took him in to assess him and with in 2 weeks and some medications he was walking without surgery and that was 3 years ago.
