At first I had a good experience here because I only went to an older female who had limited availability. She was nice and I could tell she cared very much about my animals. However, on two separate occasions with two other vets we had the worst experiences ever. I have a cat that I now know has pancreatitis thanks to the WVRC but when I took him to the male vet here he started quoting high prices for exploratory surgery and barely glanced at my cat. I asked him to look at a sore below my cat’s tail but he barely looked and said he was just licking too much. It turns out if he had looked more closely, as we were later told, he would have noticed a huge under skin infection that nearly killed him!! The infection burst open and we took him to WVRC and they immediately saved his life and figured out what was wrong. This appointment was after I had made an earlier appointment that I was around 10-15 minutes for because it was the only time I had available because I work two jobs and it was across town. They were not sympathetic in the least, lied and said I was much later than I was even though I showed them the time on my phone, and then when the front woman went back to the female vet I could hear her complaining about me and saying maybe I should be on time next time. I have to drive 1 hour away for my main job everyday and my other job is over 15 minutes away but they weren’t the least bit understanding. These people almost killed my cat instead of properly looking at him instead of just quoting thousands of dollars for exploratory surgery which WVRC said he doesn’t even need! My cat is now doing well in spite of this and thanks to the help of WVRC but maybe these people should care more about animals than quoting thousands of dollars for exploratory surgery! They should especially be more understanding when I’m trying to help my poor cat who was pooping blood and I was a little late because I work two jobs! I left here crying because of how rude they were and because of what I could hear the female vet say about me as if I couldn’t hear! Read Less

My dog got spaded at Safe Harbor and she got fluid build up in sutures. We took her to Prairie side for a follow up. They'de trying saying she need emergency surgery because she may have had something extremely wrong with her stitches and it would cost $400.00... We didn't by it. It was common for females after being spaded to have this issue. The vet at Safe Harbor extracted the fluid and told us to put a warm compress on her belly. I love the care and attention they give my dogs. What's great is we have consistently seen the same Vet as well with my new puppy. I like too when they make recommendations but also don't force you into them or are overly pushy on getting unnecessary tests or vaccines. The staff is very knowledgeable when I ask questions, and if they don't have the answer, they are very willing to find out and give me a follow up call (although I havn't needed a call because I have a puppy and have been there monthly). I really love Dr. Lee she is very caring and wants to help out her patients. As for the owners of the animal hospital. I know you need to make money but is it more important to make money or help save the lives of a pets. I have a cat who is diabetic and he needs insulin to live. I don't mind paying a $10.00 fee for a script, but it would be nice if they could fax the script over to the pharmacy to avoid the time and delay in getting the medication for my pet. This office sent me a sympathy card signed by the whole staff with personal notes in it after I had to put my cat down there. And, they had made a card with her little kitty footprints on it and personalized it with her name. AMAZING! I needed a vet for my cat, who had been vomiting for days and wouldn't eat or drink anything. Our usual place was not answering their phone that day and if you have a sick pet you know that panicked feeling when you need a doctor for them ASAP. They got us in so quick and Dr. Hausser was so gentle and thorough. She gave my cat fluids and did some tests and gave me great advice, options and encouragement, being kind and compassionate the whole time. Sadly, a couple of days later when her condition had not improved and I had to make that horrible decision to put her down, the office did that for me with so much understanding and patience as I wept for what I had decided had to be done.Thank you, Dr. Lee. One of their staff even gave me a much-needed hug and I got to be with my friend at the end and spend as much time as I wanted alone with her to say goodbye. Wow what a greeting from Dana. I was calling all the clinic's to get a price quote for my princess mimi for a trek cleaning because my husband &I are both on disability. Everyone said she needed an exam & it would cost 39 to 49. I'm like seriously all they are going to do is look in her mouth. It dose not cost that much for a quick look to quote someone. So being a new patient they said it will cost 1.00 to exam her& if anything else was needed. My son took our 8 year old boxer to the Kenosha office and I was sadly disappointed by the review he came home with. The male vet put a muzzle on her to look at her broken nail! And I know all dog owners will say they have the most gentle dog, but she truly is a very gentle animal. Not to mention, the vet's bedside manner needs some polishing up! He did not come off as an animal lover. To top it all off, they took advantage of a teenaged boy by tacking on an unnecessary X-ray to our bill. Anything to make an extra dollar and keep up with the big dog in town!! Needless to say, we are going elsewhere for the remainder of my dog's life. Took my cat here the first time because he wasn't feeling well. The staff were very nice and supportive, and I have to say I think the vet who worked with me over the week before my cat had to be put to sleep really cared about my cat and did everything she could to help him and when she realized it was beyond her ability she referred me to a specialist, which was appropriate. She got me to see my cats needed to have dental cleanings, after 4 years of seeing another incompetent vet, who told me my cats gums and teeth were fine and they didn't need dental cleanings and they were stupid and a waste of money. I'm grateful for that. However, another younger vet, who I think was new there, intruded into the visit with me, my cat and my vet. The treatments weren't working and my cat had stopped walking the day before and that was why I brought him in again. That vet was loud, rude and cruel. You could hear her yelling about clients throughout the whole office and she implied she was suspicious of me causing my cat's condition. It was very hurtful and I was already upset because of my cat's condition. Then I left to take my cat to the specialist only to find he had a huge sarcoma in his lung and neck and had to be put to sleep. That vet made one of the worst days of my life a bigger nightmare. Also, their cost for dental cleanings is very high, $300, plus $75 for each extraction. I took my other cat up to a vet in Muskego and had it done for $200. They also did a BNP and EKG on her first because she was almost 10 to make sure she was safe for the anesthesia, something that no one recommended at Prairie Side. I'm also against the way they push vaccines and don't even care if the animal has been vaccinated recently, over-vaccinating animals, which is known to be harmful to pets. It goes against the new veterinary guidelines. I was told on the phone, I think by that rude vet, that if I didn't bring in my cat's records they would have to vaccinate her, to which I told her I would not allow it. I can't say I didn't learn from the experience, but because of the vaccine issue, that horrible rude vet and the high cost of dentals, I won't return. Read Less
